I do enjoy their coffee and I always admire their most delicious looking case of pastries! The owner is extremely talented with her gift in pottery making, she has some displayed to purchase and also serves pastries, sandwiches etc on them. The cafe is super cute and a convenient location. I will be honest, I always go in knowing exactly what I will be ordering because “if” I linger for a minute to decide, I feel like I am inconveniencing them.

I got the grilled cheese with pesto -- it was pretty much amazing. It took a little longer than I expected, but with the red hen bread and homemade pesto it was well worth the price for me!

Food is as consistent as the owner's attitude and temper. Take it to go, don't ask questions, enjoy. This is not a one time thing, none of my coworkers go any more due to this, and every now and then I either get hungry enough or have some kind of thing for verbal abuse (only reason I can figure out as to why I keep going back). What's the icing on the masochistic cake? a breakfast sandwich costs almost $10.

We had an excellent breakfast roll and coffee here. Seems to be very popular with locals as there were a number of take outs which had been ordered by what seemed to be regular customers. We bought a cake for layer in the day. If we had not been moving on the next day this would have been our regular breakfast stop when in the area

What a special place for the town of Waterbury. Gluten free empanadas for my Celiac wife, hot, local coffee and fantastic breakfast sandwiches. Staff was friendly ands welcoming for a cold, blustery Vermont day. Definitely an under-appreciated cafe from what I can tell!

Really good scones and quiche. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast sandwiches, but the eggs were over soft/medium. That was fine with me, but some people don't like soft eggs, and it was pretty messy to eat! Otherwise, all was great!

Food is very good - but the service is horrible. The owner is very unprofessional. The store opens at "7:30-ish" and I generally go into the store a few minutes before 8 (which means she could have been open for a half hour or 5 minutes before I've arrived). Every time I order a breakfast sandwich instead of something pre-made, the owner has been snarky and snaps at me that she's "not ready to make that yet" and that I need to wait (even though I am the only person in the store...) and implies that I am inconveniencing her from her other duties. If I am willing to pay $11.25 (which includes a 3.5% surcharge on my card) for a good, local breakfast sandwich, the least she can do is make a slight attempt at customer service. If you don't want to sell breakfast sandwiches, don't - or don't make them available until 9am when you might finally be ready to serve your customers. Its really hard to support a local business when they don't seem to want you in the store ordering the food...

Imagine breaking your fast with a fresh baked challan bun egg sandwich topped with bacon, arugula and tomato slices, and paired with fresh medium or dark roast coffee. The blueberry coffee cake was a great choice. Almond milk was made available but we had our favorite coconut creamer. I only wish they had decaf available for lightweights like myself. Perfection.

The owner is quite rude. She will certainly make it known to you the poor customer if she is unhappy with a choice you've made...such as not having cash, not eating all the food you ordered, or not ordering the food you want in the most efficient way for her. This place would be great if it wasn't for all the attitude. Not coming back.

Over priced for nothing special. Growing up in NYC there were/are bakeries that make cookies, cakes, pastry, bread etc. All traditionally made and much less expensive. Stop pretending to be something you're not and just bake!!

The breakfast sandwich is the best, hands down! Also great baked goods and coffee. Always great ingredients and the same quality to expect everytime I come in. I phone in my orders, as I am local and it takes the standard time it takes to make a sandwich (maybe 15 minutes). I rate other breakfast sandwiches by how good Henders is. Seriously!

Hender’s has by far the best breakfast sandwiches in Vermont. Just be sure to let them know if you don’t want your eggs runny, as that’s how they typically come. You’ve seriously got to check this place out. They’re also pretty reasonably priced for the high quality ingredients. Staff is also super friendly & accommodating.

I know people say this about most food places that they review, but Hender's Cafe food is genuinely insanely delicious and inovative, It is worth every penny. I also enjoy the decor, and very much like to give Hender much pets and love! (Woof)

Finally decided to stop in here this weekend for some breakfast. Had a bacon breakfast sandwich that was very possibly the best I've ever had in Vermont! Super high quality meat, two yummy fried eggs, and it was pretty fast, too. Not cheap, but worth every penny. I will definitely go back and try some of the amazing looking pastries.

HOLY SMOKES the breakfast sandwich is AMAZING!!! Bacon, or sausage or ham, two eggs with all sorts of goodness, Fresh and quick. I could easily find myself spending too much, but well worth the cost. And for the people who say the Service is unpleasant , then they need to take a chill pill. It's NOT starbucks or a fast food place. I've only seen the owner, and have always been met with a smile.
