Wow. What a hidden gem! Fantastic food cooked right infront of your eyes. They even made a custom order grilled cheese for my son. Absolutely delicious local and seasonal dishes with indoor & outdoor dining options. A+ for also having a baby changer. I will definitely be back.
Overall it is a nice place. Very good interior design. I tried veggie scramble. It was not based but variety of vegetables in it could be increased. Similarly bloody marry was not spicy enough for my taste. But in general it was a good experience.
Consistently affordable and tasty food
Hmm.
Great food and great service. The mac and cheese was great.
Very good service, very good food, nice patio. :-)
Great Service, cozy place.. Very tasty Breakfast!!! I recommend this place!
A great little gem in the avenues. Next time you are there ask if they can seat you in the speakeasy downstairs. One of salt Lake's best places to eat.
We were the only two people in the place and they brought wrong menu so I chose something from it and the didn’t have it, brought the right menu chose something else they came back and...they didn’t have it, offered free dessert, they didn’t give it and took them long to charge, because only one server could run the computer . Very disappointing it used to be great.
I have been quite a few times and have loved everything the chef's recommend!! My favorite is the trout dish, I was afraid I was making the guy next to me uncomfortable with all my MmmmMMMmmmm's!! The halibut, burger and brunch is also amazing! Great atmosphere, great service and cool staff!
Very tasty French/American offerings in a pleasant space, with good service.
The food here is great. I wish it was a bit cheaper for a neighborhood place, but don't let that deter you.
An expensive little bistro with an atmosphere that doesn't match it's prices. Service is fantastic
Absolutely loved every second of my visit! The owner gave us a personal tour of the restaurant, speak easy, and garden! Totally beautiful and amazingly delicious. With unbeatable personal service!
The food and service were excellent! I will absolutely eat there again.
Laid back and friendly with good food and wine.
Absolutely delicious. Only issue is that they need to update their menu online. Two of the things I wanted were not on the new menu.
The specials are always great. Amazing service and an incredible patio.
Can't go wrong with the trout Benedict or Gouda cheese sandwich. Both are delish
Love this place! Great found, Avenues ambiance, reasonable prices and booze! This is Utah!
Love this place. I wish they had more brunch selections though.
Tasty dishes, awesome environment. Only thing is that it's not fast service, usually around 30 minutes. Definitely a must try place!
GREAT outdoor service
Hidden gem. The food was perfect, love the Mimosas. Hard to find such a hip, local joint in Utah.
Bistro suggests a certain type of casual French dining establishment. Generally a place in the US appropriating the name bears no relationship to the real thing. I think Avenues Bistro embodies everything a Bistro should be. It's local comfort food, well prepared, in a casual atmosphere. It encourages visiting. Although nice, it's a casual comfortable place. I ordered the Croque Madame. While a French dish that would be a home in a bistro, it's also appropriated as a supremely American comfort food, except for the bechamel sauce. However, Grilled ham and cheese with an egg and cheese sauce doesn't sound so fancy. Anywhere else beer and wine at a place like this would be de rigueur. In SLC, it's a pleasant surprise. I look to coming back soon, and if I lived in the area, I'd be here all the time.
Amazing romantic coffee shop nestled into a quiet neighborhood. Highly recommended!
Amazing cozy little restaurant located in the Avenues! Great staff/menu/food/service. The perfect casual neighborhood atmosphere with some of the best food in SLC
The Avenues Bistro on Third is everything you want from a neighborhood restaurant. It is cozy, quaint, eclectic, friendly and serves up delicious food to boot. The restaurant is located in the historic area of downtown Salt Lake City. It boasts cozy seating, a summer patio, a speakeasy and an urban farm right out back. The restaurant is small and not the best for large groups, but the patio is open in the summer with extended seating during that time. The restaurant servers brunch and Dinner and also serves alcohol. Brunch includes things like huevos rancheros, breakfast plates and sandwiches. Dinner dishes handcrafted new american fare. It is hard for me to not order the burger with delicious candied bacon, but trying something else has always been worth it. The wine/ beer and cocktail menu is small but chalk full of some of the best wines and cocktail selections. Make sure to order the carrot cake or try any other delicious treat from their wonderful pastry chef.
Rating a 2 only due to service... their food is incredible and the owner has done very well to integrate good flavors, quality ingredients, and reasonable costs. But we'll be ordering to-go from now on. I have visited this restaurant at least 10 times in past several years. Usually servers seem overworked by their tables, somewhat irritated by our presence or like they simply dont want to be there. But last night was the kicker. Showed up early, about 6pm and the restaurant was almost empty-- 2-3 tables of 2 tops. Male greeter tried to seat us at the bar but we asked for a table closer to the front and window, as no one else was there and he said they didn't have upcoming reservations for those tables.he exhaled, again irritated, and said "we're going to get busy, saving those tables for 4 tops. I can sit you there if you REALLY want". He seemed very put-out by us and we certainly didn't feel welcomed. Wow. Sorry our money and presence isn't good enough in an otherwise uncrowded and unreserved restaurant. Seems like poor business to keep tables for people who haven't shown up yet when you have two people present for dinner.
Really great service that's only matched by their incredible food. The chef(s) never fail to impress. On top of that, the pricing is great. For the mouth watering food I get everytime I go there I'd expect the prices to be higher. It's one of those places that I take new friends to so I can impress them without hurting anyone's wallet. On the point of there service, they seem to really care about customers. We came in one VERY busy day in which they were understaffed and they made sure to get food out at a pretty reasonable time and make up for the wait (not that they had to) and the chef came out and apologized to us personally. Seriously a special place. Also, order the duck. You can thank me later
I would love to be able to comment on the food however, when I tried to go I was ignored. I am not exaggerating (I started timing) 3 minutes after walking in and being ignored by every employee (I was alone) a party of 3 walked in and were immediately greeted by the owner. She then proceeded to have a server seat them and walked past me to check on other tables. I would chalk it up to the fact t I was strangely invisible and unnoticeable (for the n first time in my life), except for the fact that the server moved me out of the way (without a word) so that he could get menus for the party of 3. I waited 3 more minutes and decided that they must not want business from a single diner. And lest you argue that they were busy, there were 2 tables on the patio (before the 3 top that came after me) and about 1/2 full inside. This was early (7:00 ish) on a Friday evening, so the 4 servers plus owner I saw (but apparently did not see me) should have been enough. I was and continue to be so frustrated by this since I really wanted another place in my neighborhood that I can walk to and enjoy dinner and some wine. I doubt I will give it another chance. Very very disappointed!
I loved the house burger!!! by far the best burger ever and the steak fries are to die for!!!! everything is made with some of the finest ingredients you can tell by the flavor. I also like the service too. I recommend it to anyone looking for the best and appreciates quality food. I will go there anytime I love this place!!!
Just had another lovely meal at Avenues Bistro, and this place never disappoints. Highly recommended for delicious food in an inviting, unpretentious setting.
Kathy and her crew create a great atmosphere with very personable service. We regularly brunch there on Sunday mornings. Great coffee starts it all off great. I not only strongly recommend it to my friends, I also take them there . .. and you should too. !!
Go Aves! We stopped in for an early dinner before a SLAC show over in another hidden SLC neighborhood. We chose to sit in the little patio instead of the tempting Speakeasy section. Five 2-top tables in close proximity means you won't want to have secret discussions involving trade secrets, but it would be easy to butt in on a conversation and meet new friends... the atmosphere lends itself to that. The Avocado Toast appetizer was amazing! I had the salmon ruben and it was a little salty and rich for my taste, but VERY flavorful. Excellent bread pudding for dessert. Very friendly wait staff. We'll be back.
Lovely restaurant in an intimate environment. The bistro burger is divine; I find myself thinking about it days later.
Perfect in every way.
Really good brunch place. We went as a group of four friends on a Sunday morning and were seated immediately even though it was almost full. The host and server were very nice and helpful. Almost every main course had eggs but they accommodated my vegan friend and added extra veggies in her dish instead of the eggs. The food was pretty scrumptious. They have good drinks on the menu though we ordered coffee/tea and it was good.
If you are a fan of Salt Lake City you must come here. Nate (the manager) gave us the best service and the food is tasty. Definitely recommend
While tiny, this is a great fine dining establishment. The food is very fresh and doesn't feel produced like some other restaurants around town. The coffee and hot chocolate are great and the place has a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Definitely recommend if you're looking for some fancier options
Friendly staff and the food is always excellent here. The deserts are a must try!
Tasty, attractively presented dishes; good house brewed beer. A little pricey, but chalk it up to the upscale vibe. $3 bloody Marys on the weekends are recommended.
We have been to Avenues Bistro on several occasions. It has always been one of our favorite spots. This last time, my wife and I both found the food to be "WOW". We don't give this rating easily actually very rarely but the whole experience was incredible. We started with the beef tartare, the french fries and cheese bread (I know...it was a lot). Each one had their own appeal. The FF and bread also added a bit of flair to the entrees. The entrees were phenomenal. We had the tuna and trout. Each had their own special "WOW" factor. It's the kind of experience you don't want to end and you find frequenting the place regularly. In addition, Nacho (server) had a friendly, enthusiastic attitude and did an awesome job serving and describing the food. In a nutshell...definitely recommend!
Great food, great atmosphere! We started with the Lamb Pops which were awesome! I ordered the Burger and my mom got the Mac and Cheese. The burger was cooked perfectly with the beehive cheese crispy and delicious! My mom throughly enjoyed the Mac and Cheese. For our drinks, we both ordered the Rose Gin and Tonic. What a quaint place to sit and enjoy a meal! Outside seating is beautiful!
Best service I've had in a while. Found this place by accident. So cute. GREAT FOOD.. had lamb pops, they melt in your mouth.
Amazing food. Extremely kind staff. And definitely has an Avenues feel. Perhaps just a little cramped though.
Eggs Benedict was great and could be made gluten free!
Awesome brunch amazing mac and cheese. gorgeous waiters!!!!
Perfect!
Delicious food and charming location.
Best burger in SLC, hands down. The bacon was coated in brown sugar and soaked in brandy. Plus the ketchup was homemade - I was like, "Hellz Yea! Now we're talkin' baby!"
I've been here a few times. They recently changed up the menu. The recent change took the Bistro from pretty good to amazing. The food is awesome and the wait staff friendly. The ambiance is a fun eclectic.
Limited parking and seating, but the food is so worth it! I'm told they source all their ingredients locally and it's top notch. The beef is to die for. Try any of their burgers and you won't be disappointed. The service is always friendly!
Great little place for brunch and dinner!
Delicious Cobb Salad for me, everyone in our group was happy with their order.
A unique Charming venue and an unsurpassed menu for Unique homemade quality.. truly a Hidden Gem
Best breakfast I have found in SLC. Great atmosphere!
Love this place.
The best for a quiet break
Good food, good staff nothing spectacular or ground breaking but it is delicious and reliable and that's good too! Lots of comfort food and with the right company a good time as well.
Best restaurant in town. Food is made with the best ingredients. The service is great. I recommend the Bistro Burger, it is amazing!
Quite excellent neighborhood restaurant with a simple yet delicious menu. The cob salad was very satisfying and their burgers top notch. I'd like to add a shout out for their fantastic french fries. Amazing.
Yummy food, delicious lattes, cute asthetic, and great service. Our server Nate is who honestly made this a 5 star experience. He was personable, efficient, and all around a good server! We'll definitely be coming back.
i had the beet salad. it was incredible! the waiter was the best!
This unassuming little building is a gastronomic gem. Their menu is imaginative and includes local meat, eggs and produce lovingly assembled to please the most discerning palate. We were seated quickly and treated well by Cassidy and the other staff. This is our new favorite in the avenues of Salt Lake City.
Fantastic place. Great food and drinks, great location and great staff. I had the salmon and it was a party in my mouth every bite. My husband loved the halibut special. The staff was incredibly inviting and attentive. We will be back.
Great service and the brunch is amazing! Vegan waffles for the win!
We loved this place when Kathy was the owner, and we love it still under its new chef/owner, Steve. It's great to know this restaurant is staying opem in the neighborhood!!!
Loved the food. Ate on the patio. The server waa friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back!
I had the burger and now that's the only thing on the menu because it is always so amazing!! They grow most of their produce in the back yard too!
Great food and service. The only flaw was that a restaurant this nice should offer to box up your leftovers rather than bringing a box to the table.
I am surprised at how far the Avenues Bistro has come since their opening. The food is great quality and emphasizes locally sourced ingredients. I had the cubano, and it was one of the best that I have had. The outdoor seating offers great views and ambiance. If you have had a poor experience in the past, I would urge you to give it another shot!
The eggs benadict was AMAZING! The french toast was really yummy, especially with their syrup! Will definitely be coming back!
Fantastic food. Accommodating for gluten free types too. Try the burger.
Consistently good locally soured food. Great homemade pastries.
Great service and excellent food. I am almost reluctant to post a good review because there almost never a wait; and I feel like this is a hidden gem. But, alas that would be fair to such an amazing place. This is my favorite spot for brunch on Sundays.
Very cool ambiance in the Bistro. They have the best burger in the state of Utah. Absolutely suggest you try it. Tomatoe soup is wonderful and the desserts looks amazing. If I could give half stars this review would 4.5 ⭐'s.
Very fresh farm to table. Food was good but a little pricey for my budget.
After new ownership, I was a little nervous that the quality would be different, but was pleasantly surprised that the food and service is still on my top list of favorite places.
They changed! New owner. We didn't know till we noticed the food and interior changed. The bakery is no longer in the restaurant. The food was a huge disappointment. Bland and dry. If you overcook my poached eggs, I question your cooking skill. I am scarred. I am not sure if I want to come back and try it again. T-T
I had dinner on a Thursday night. Good, savory, delicious food and plenty of variety on the menu. The service, location, acoustics, and bistro vibe were excellent. You can actually have a pleasant, quiet dinner conversation here (at least on a Thursday night). They are open laterish by Western US standards. I ate inside. They also had a nice outside serving area.
I was stunned by the quality of the food, the decor, the service, everything. Our party sampled several appetizers, entrees, and desserts, and each dish our server brought back was better than the last. The restaurant also has a large banner displaying their commitment to buy local - from food to spirits to tax services - and I admire their commitment to support our city. I will definently be returning here to get the meatloaf again.
The speakeasy downstairs has the coolest, intimate atmosphere. The food was original and delicious. Jay was such a polite, considerate server. Will definitely come back next time I'm in town.
Best cozy dinner spot in the state. Fantastic food. Romantic speak easy. And an overall well worth it spot to visit!
Nice setting, great food, the breakfast was fantastic and the mac'n'cheese was amazing.
Absolutely amazing food! Was not expecting much from a small local restaurant and everyone in the party was shocked au how good everything was. Beef tar tar, goose liver pate, trout, fried chicken, seafood plate, it was all Excellent. Dessert was good also. Good selection of drinks, featuring she local choices. Highly recommend you make the trip out to it even with a longer drive. Not a large place, so reservations are recommended for larger groups.
A one-of-a-kind food and neighborhood home. Wonderful, nuanced menu, literal garden (in the backyards) to table, and most amazing collection of lovely and inspiring people working and dining there. Kathie Chadbourne is a rare gem!
The burgers there are out of this world! The burger... they only serve one burger! The menu is neat, concise, and filling. Good options. Portion size is great. Highly recommend!
The food is great but the last time I was there one of the waiters was pushy and kept asking my friend if she was done with her dish three times although she was clearly still eating. It was not even a busy night! Not good!
What a great place. Great food. Wonderful, quaint ambiance. Beautiful location.
An intimate setting with great food. The perfect place for an Instagramable brunch date.
I love this place but the wait staff (are always nice)... but slow and inefficient. It's been this way since they opened. You have to ask for everything ie, coffee refills, salt/ pepper, etc... if you have somewhere to be don't go here before hand. Maybe, it's part of the charm?
Excellent service and food. Best food in Salt Lake City, hands down. Cozy atmosphere with genuine friendly service.
Staff are incredible and the food matches. love the variety of seating.
Simply phenomonal. I reccomend this spot to anyone who comes to salt lake city. The menu was simple and your tastebuds will go for a ride. Great drinks and fresh food what more can you ask for?!
Patio, great on fall like mornings. Food very tasty and hot. Arrived quickly. Great staff.
Great for Eggs Benedict and the house made sausage is nicely spicy. Service is friendly. Ambience is warm, intimate.
Breakfast was delicious. Cute patio!
Great food and ambience. Loved the croque madame and the meat loaf sandwich (one of the daily specials).
Great food with fresh ingredients, and the owners are amazing! We went for dinner tonight, and there is just something special about a place where you can see the owner and have a delightful conversation. Thank you for making our evening special! We will definitely be coming back many more times!
The most delicious bistro I've ever had. Get their bistro burger! Great service and patio!
Love that place for brunch.
The best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had! Super wonderful service and the quality of food is spectacular! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great place, always an open table. Friendly and quick staff. Delicious food and tall mimosas.
Quite possibly the best brunch in town and complimented by French toast to die for
Eclectic atmosphere. Above average food and drinks. Great staff and clientele is as diverse and fun as the ambiance.
Really fantastic little bistro. We ate breakfast there - fun atmosphere - good coffee. I had the special (chicken fried chicken with duck egg, gravy, basil biscuit with black cherry compote). My husband had the French toast. Delicious food and great service at very reasonable prices.
Charming and delicious. Lovely brunch!
Good food. Nice environment
Food and service is great! Brunch menu is extensive. We moved to avenues recently and love having this quaint bistro right down the road.
First time customer last night, attending a custom catered business dinner in the downstairs private dining room. Met the owner/founders Kathy and Aimee....wonderful people! Thank you for a special and memorable evening with friends. Cheers and compliments to Chef Adam. ~Mike Rath
One of the best places to eat in SLC. They use a lot of locally sourced ingredients, fun menu items, amazing outdoor seating in the warmer months. Prices are a little high but if you care about quality and local food, this is your place.
We stopped by for brunch. The food was very good, and the restaurant was comfortable. Definitely want to come back and try dinner. Wait staff seemed reasonably friendly, but not very attentive. Standing around--had to ask for coffee. (We only wanted one refill with breakfast--I don't think that's asking too much)
Fresh local, if not grown or laid (veggies chickens and bees procured on site) and "clean" food...oh yeah...can't forget delicious!
I can definitely tell you that it is the best food that I have had in town. As French and food lover trust me and go check It out!
Made reservations and when my friend got here before me, they tried to convince her that it was for 15 min later than what i had reserved to justify why they didn’t have a table for us. Had to wait for our reserved table that was made hours in advanced. Warning, if reservations are made, don’t expect to get your table for when you reserved unless it’s when it opens.
This is our favorite dinner spot. The burgers are divine. They take a lot of pride in serving really great food with great ingredients and wonderful flavors.
Views are fantastic, servers really friendly, food wasn't bad but overpriced. You are eating in the Avenues so probably not overpriced for the neighborhood?
This is by far my favorite restaurant in Salt Lake City. From the exquisite food selections to the eclectic atmosphere, Avenues Bistro offers an experience which extends beyond your taste buds. It truly doesn't matter what you order, the presentation will be on-point and the the quality of each selection can't be compared to your ordinary diner because.. Avenues Bistro is far from ordinary. Choose Avenues Bistro the next time you need to meet with a business associate or reconnect with an old friend; or say you have a free morning and could use a great cup of coffee, just to sit back and reflect? You will be pleasantly surprised by what Salt Lake City has to offer.
Great staff and food!
We’ve come for years and live in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, their prices have increased so much, and the portions decreased (the hamburger bun was dry, cold, and smaller than what I had 4-5 months ago), so doubtful we’ll be back. The trout we had last night was cooked well, but presented over a mix of creamed carrots/potatoes that actually had no taste. Less appetizing than baby food. It was really disappointing from a place where we’ve had great food and have enjoyed visiting with the owner.
A wonderfully located place with some amazing food!
My fav local, close to home special place. Continues to evolve in the right direction.
very pricey for what you got.... dinner is very salty.
Love it! Lived in the neighborhood many decades ago when the building was a small pharmacy/soda fountain where I used to buy my 12 cent Marvel comics (kept 'em too. what a great investment!). Today it's the most intimate, atmospheric bistro in the city, with great food. We were told the menu will be changing soon, but I hope they keep the beet salad. Not only the best beet salad I've ever had, one of the best salads, period! My companion was assured by our friendly server that the famous bistro burger will be staying for sure. And I hope the trout does as well. Always a good selection of craft beers as well. We arrived fairly late, but were treated royally as always, and they let us keep chattering away until they were ready to leave. I met the owner a few years back, and when I came back at least months later, she still greeted me - by name - like a long-lost friend. This place is a keeper for sure!
Great atmosphere. Delicious food!
Delightful local place with lovely food, great food, perfect chocolate cake, and outstanding and friendly service. The kind of place that knows the names of their regulars. Bathrooms very clean.
amazing diner . fresh recipies . one of my favorite restaurant so far
Excellent turkey sandwich, quiet lunch spot with a brunch menu on the weekdays. It was so good I couldn't stop!
What an original menu...should be larger and advertise the specialty bakery with its most perfect patisserie in town
This place is so cute! The food and service are excellent.
My wife and I have eaten here a few times over the last month or two. The food is really great, I think it has improved since the change in management. The drinks are good too, and the patio is super pleasant.
Great service outside dining area was nice and the food was good
Cheeseburgers in paradise, with maple candied bacon!!! Homemade ketchup, carrot cake, in a great atmosphere. The staff was super friendly, and the mixed berry mule was delicious.
Not sure what everyone else looks for in an eating establishment but I find what I want here!! Farm to table delicious food prepared and served with care. Bonus: In addition, I get a incomparable ambiance and comfort; all at reasonable prices.
Really enjoyed my recent visit and hands on approach from the owner and staff. The pastries are yummy and the service has improved. Hope they can keep the outdoor seating, what a gem.
I love love love this place. Their almond french toast is my favorite.
I wanted to like the new ownership and menu more, as I love the atmosphere and how cozy it is, but I left feeling disappointed. The service was haphazard, and the food was just okay. And for just okay food, menu prices were crazy high. I had the croque madame and the bacon was tough and the bread hard, and the béchamel was too thick. For $16 I was disappointed. My partner tried the $19 Bistro Burger. We thought it was good, and better than the burger that was on the previous menu, but it was over-cooked and not much stood out about it.
Great atmosphere & food. Best burger in SLC!
Food was fantastic. However..they messed up my bill and ran my card for $67 instead of $23. I let them know the issue and they said they would fix it. They left me standing at the cash register for five minutes while they were all going around doing their job. Someone came and asked if I was being helped.bi explained I thought I was but it had been awhile. He said "I'm sorry the chef is the only one who can fix your bill right now and you are just not The priority, we have food to finish and run first." Ummmm... excuse me. I was the priority when I was spending over $100 with myself and friends. Also they said once they finally fixed it after me standing there for 15 min while my group also got stuck waiting that they couldn't give me a receipt showing the void but "no big deal he says it's only $67". Also while we were eating servixs was terrible. I had to seek out someone to get my check. The sever said oh I have been busy with another group. I am shocked and appalled at my treatment. I will never be back. Don't tell a customer EVER that they aren't a priority to help especially after your mess up.
Simply Awesome! Cathy is a down to earth groovy lady. One of my favs in SLC. Tell'em Reg sent you for the grilled cheese sandwich with bacon!
great food comfortable place to hang with friends and family
Amazing fare, 5 star service. Ask for Cody --by far one of the best servers, hands down. I dined with my 95 year old grandmother. He treated her like a young buck and royalty. She loved it and so did I. When we went to pay the check, he dropped it off and called us two young, trouble-makers. It made my grandmothers day (and mine). The food was impeccable, loved the neighborhood atmosphere and the charming decor. I'd go back, in a heartbeat.
Excellent brunch spot and we really enjoyed our meal. Has a great vibe with lots of conversation around the space. Food was delicious and service was outstanding! This is a great place to meet friends or family for a casual breakfast.
Absolutely lovely! Gracious servers and cooks. We had the house burger and the polenta burger, both were stunning. The burger was perfectly cooked and the flavors were well balanced. The home fries accompanying it were so flavorful I'll be sure to try and replicate them at home. The polenta burger was a first and if I'm ever back in SLC I will do it again. The polenta was crispy on the outside and creamy inside, the side salad had fresh fruit and crisp greens. I wish we had enough time to go back again but we were just passing through. Go here and eat well.
Best breakfast ever! Mac N Cheese is to die for ! The poached eggs were to perfection which is pretty hard to find in SLC!
Delicious salad, burger, and dessert. I will be going there again!
One of my favorites for obvious reasons. Going without knowing is the fun part!!
