We visited the bakery with high expectations to get a pastry for my wife's birthday, but unfortunately we didn't get what we wanted because they were almost out of stock. I would suggest to the customers to get there early morning if they want their choice of confectioneries, and will also request the bakery to restock the items during the day to avoid disappointment for the customers. Thanks.
Expect to add some size to your waistline because this place is fantastic!
Honest, real, simple food! It's the only place I know that makes lentils soup the way my family does (we are Italian). Their baked goods are very good. It's a simple, joyful happy place for the whole family. Love it.
Their pastries are amazing! Especially the cinnamon rolls.
The spinach ricotta rounds aww delicious.
Service was great, pastries were yummy. Soup (cheese?) was cold, but other than that, was overall pleasurable
First visit to Upper Crust. Very fresh muffins and cinnamon rolls, great service, great taste. I’ll go back for sure!
Best cinnamon rolls ever!!! Everything else is awesome too.
Nice people. Good food. What more do you need?
Not sure what happened recently but a lot has changed in the service and quality. We have enjoyed their signature "lunch specials" for several years to find out today that they have discontinued it without warning. The roast beef on my sandwich was much like it was left out of the cooler overnight, dry and tough and the bread was dry and broke up in my hand. The person delivering plates the table need a shower or maybe just deodorant, and probably both would be appropriate; the person in this position should be pleasant in every way. I have the impression that it has been sold, under new management in difficulty of some kind. It's a shame, used to be such a gem in the community.
My all time favorite bakery in Austin. Chuck and seven who run this place are like family to my girls. This is like the "Cheers" version of a bakery. A place where everyone knows your name. This has to be earned of course. If you do decide to visit on a Saturday morning, look me up
ALWAYS fantastic cakes!
Our family and friends always rave about the chocolate italian cream cake, it's heaven! We've been getting this cake for decades and love that Upper Crust is an Austin classic. 12in feeds up to 30 ppl.
I came here to pick up some cupcakes, but couldn't resist the temptation of the cookies. The cupcakes tasted great and were very moist. (They remained moist even after a few days in the fridge.) The cookies were amazing! They tasted great the day I bought them, the next day, and even two days later. (We finished them that day.) I will definitely buy more desserts from Upper Crust, and will be back to try their lunch menu items as well.
I live in California and found this bakery randomly on Google to decorate a birthday cake for my son who lives in Austin. I was happy they let me pay by credit card over the phone so my son could simply pick it up at the store. The person on the phone was extremely nice and helpful and offered a variety of fantastic cake choices that would fit my budget. I hope y'all in Austin will frequent this place because they deserve it. Oh, and my son said the cake looked awesome.
Upper Crust is Great. Their pastries are FANTASTIC. The sandwiches and soups are wonderful also.
Friendly service but the bread is only OK and they don’t take AMEX so points off there.
We were leaving Central Market, having done some grocery shopping. Some how we've never noticed this bakery. So we decided to stop in and try some of their sweets. I bought several types of the croissants, and by far our favorite was the strawberry cream cheese. Just heavenly!
Want cake ? Whole or by the slice then go to upper crust
Wonderful warm cinnamon rolls.
My favorite for decades. Great Marzipan and Guatemalan roast.
They have the best food ever!! We travel an hour to get food there all the time
Better-than-good coffee! Excellent cinnamon roll!
Loved it! Amazing baked goods here and great coffee.
Upper Crust Bakery is legendary in Austin,tx.Check out their Brownies, and their pies out ! Everything is great here
Best French bakery I have found outside of France. Everything was fresh. Wonderful selection of foods and wines.
Quiche was good. Coffee was good. I was honestly expecting a bit better selection
What a wonderful experience we had working with Seven for my daughter's wedding cake. He is wonderful and pleasant and funny. Even when I got the information wrong about what type of cake arrangement my daughter wanted (which she corrected the week before the wedding), Seven took it all in stride and made it work. And the cake was exactly what she asked for and delicious! Thank you, Seven!!!!!
This place has always been a favorite of mine since my college years. 10 years later and it is still excellent!! Fresh lunch options and everything in the bakery is fresh and amazing. Cannot go wrong with the cinnamon rolls and brioche! I wish we had this place in Houston!
Always great selection and fresh. Good coffee too! An Austin standard. Their only rivals are Russel's and Quacks.
They ran out of quiche!
I've been going here for years enjoying morning breakfast with life long friends and seeing familiar faces every morning is awesome. Service is always top notch and everything baked is phenomenal. Can't get enough of the cinnamon roll...trust!
3 different people asked if we had been helped, and it was super busy. We order 3 pastries, and three drinks. We were in and out of there in less than 8 minutes. There Chai is amazing. Great atmosphere. Will be back for sure.
One of my favs in Austin. Always fresh and well made, great coffee too.
Had a great super fresh eggs salad. Lovely place with an impressive selection of baked goods
not great food or coffee... they seem to cater to an older crowd who can’t taste much lol. the pastries were bland and undercooked, the fillings were overbearing, the coffee was horrible.
Coconut cream pie. Need I say more
Absolutely the best bakery in town.good food and service.
Got my birthday cake here, great full flavor, but not too overpowering, with a cool moist texture. Great little place to sit down and enjoy something sweet. Parking could be better, but not much you can do about that.
Great Carrot Cake.
Stopped in to get a pastry for my husband. There was a plate of cookies on top of the counter I assumed were samples.....duh....I picked one up and was rudely told by some jerk behind the counter, "please don't pick up the cookies ma'am". Wth were they doing up there. Not going back.
I had the cream puff. Loved it!
I absolutely love this place! Everything is delicious, but the cinnamon roll is my favorite! The sandwiches are great too.
went there on a saturday. looking forward to returning with my coworkers. prices were appropriate.
Fresh baked bread several options, wonderful Cheese soup and great chicken salad. Fast service and several seating options. Hubbie had a chocolate Mocha and he like it a lot, he didn't share!
I almost don't want to tell you how good the cheese soup is because then I'll have to share. Shockingly not heavy but still delicious. Top 3 favorite foods of all time. And every dessert is awesome (get a marble cupcake, order a marisa gateau) but that's not a secret.
What a great bakery! I have enjoyed all the desserts I've tried from them; the cookies are sweet and have just the right amount of savory (just a bit!) and their cakes are also great. I really enjoy the texture of the icing and it tastes far better than anything you could get at a grocery store. I was informed that they only accept Visa and MC payments, so if you have an Amex or Discover, you should bring some cash or a backup card if you want the baked goodies.
My favorite bakery in Austin! Their cinnamon rolls are amazing! The parking can be tricky, but there are spots in the back as well.
Great service and food is delicious!!
Great egg salad sandwich, excellent sourdough bread, fast service. Cheerful, light filled, comfortable space
Best bakery! Service is great.
One of our favorite bakery in Austin for over 30 years. Great place to meet for breakfast pastries and coffe or lunch sanwiches. The cinnamon rolls are out if this world good. Also try the lemon buttermilk pound cake. Their Chocolate Cake and their Italian Creme cake are some of the best we have tasted. Pick up your goodies to go or hang out for a while with your friends. You can't go wrong with Upper crust.
Staff was great. This is the second time we've eaten at Upper Curst both times we've had unpleasent interactions with to owner. He is rude to his staff and was short with us even after we purchased a lot of pastrys. I also ordered an Americano and it was hands down the worst cup of coffee I've ever had. We will not go back again.
Needed to pick out some bakery items for my mother for mother's day. I've never been but thought I'd give this place a shot. She loved everything I picked out, she's a tough critic on her desserts so that's a win. The workers there were helpful and allowed me to take my time. They have quite a bit to choose from. I'll definitely be back.
Awesome Mocha cake! Pricy!
If u have never been to upper crust u better get over here!
Great local Austin bakery that Never disappoints.
Great fresh pastries. These cinnamon rolls and Latte's are delicious. Friendly staff
Upper Crust is wonderful. Everything is fresh, and warm, and so delicious.
Picked up pastries early Sunday morning for my wedding reception. Even that early, customers were in enjoying the baked goods. Fully stocked, fresh, and delicious food. I got a sample of almost everything, and it went over well with my guests.
My favorite bakery in town. They are the only place I know that makes a chocolate Italian Cream cake...this cake is incredible! It is what I request every year for my birthday.
One of the places I really miss since leaving Austin. They have the best cakes, pies and cookies. I highly recommend the GATEAU MARISA, a yellow cake layered with creme patisserie and a choice of fresh sliced strawberries, bananas or both. Iced with cream cheese icing and topped with whole strawberries. It is always fresh and delicious.
Clean, inviting, easy to deal with. Such a gem
Great sandwiches and baked goods!
Heavenly Choc. Italian Cream Cake! It was a special order.
Delicious. Friendly. Indispensable.
This is a nice place to grab a sandwich or baked goods. very busy on weekends and lack of parking but if you can get a space your experience will be good, nice coffee also.
Always a nice visit. Great carrot and Italian cream cakes.
The only downside to this place is that the apple turnover supply is generally exhausted before 9am
It’s one of my favorite places to drink coffee with my wife, I had always dreamed to be in a coffee shop with my lovely wife and, this is it love it
Always full of customers but great assortment of great pastries and good coffee.
. . . a good old fashioned bakery with excellent cakes and a wide variety of breads.
I would have given it a 5 ⭐️ if it weren’t for their slamming my bag in the counter when they were charging me. Don’t get it wrong the pastry and sandwiches are good but the services is the worse. Only people that smiled was the older gentleman who took our order and the tall one that was friendly and even offered to give us a bigger bag to place what we purchased. The young blonde lady that was there seemed she was having a bad day and should have been sent home. Customer service should also be a priority.
The only disappointing thing is having to choose. It all looks and tastes amazing. Don't be discouraged by the line; it moves fast and there is lots of seating.
It's the best. I drive from Elgin over 25 mi. Just to go there. The young men are lovely there that wait on you.
Great place to satisfy your cravings!
Some of the best cakes I've ever had good assortment of cookies and other items we will definitely give it some more tries
Very good baked goods and coffee. Cozy feeling.
Great place but good luck finding a parking spot
Marzipan croissants are fabulous! Love the coffee cake selection. Beautiful birthday cakes. Cozy, a great place to sit and enjoy a morning.
I'm not the earliest riser but somehow even at 9:45 AM they are out of quiche. It's delicious but on a weekend they're always sold out. Please try to make more to last the morning for the people like me or else I'll never get to enjoy the ham one ever again!
Atmosphere: busy local bakery/cafe with rotating artwork, indoor and outdoor seating Service: Efficient, knowledgeable, gracious counter service. Food arrives lightning fast Food: Love the sweets, but my favorite is the a avocado sandwich on enfleur bread. Always delicious and reasonably priced.
Upper Crust bakery has been around for quite some time. And they have a variety of wonderful pastries and sandwiches. However, my favorite thing to get is the cinnamon roll. It is one of the few places that have cinnamony cinnamon rolls! There is no sugar icing on them, just cinnamon! Yum! They have worth the trip.
Bakery and coffee in a busy but friendly environment. Definitely a local hangout. I find their baked goods to be a bit on the heavy side but from the number of people there I'd surmise that a lot of folks like it that way!
Great staff, great food, great place to be
One of Austin's great breakfast stops but and outstanding bakery for any occasion. The brioches are to die for but bring a friend to share the delight as they are enormous.
Pastries and soup are delicious and deserve a 5 star rating. Be prepared for a long wait during lunch hours though.
Love this Austin Institution! Great location, the food is very good. My latte this morning was excellent. Parking can be a problem if it's busy. Had a very good quiche this morning, it was a Quiche Lorraine, but unfortunately it was mostly ham, not too much egg! Otherwise I love this place!
Never had anything I didn't like a lot!
It was so delicious. Had a sister come into town and asked me to take her here again. Prices were decent. This place has good reviews for a reason.
I have spent years looking for an adequate substitute for their cinnamon rolls in the other places I've lived and found no equal
I love their soup! The thing they need to improve is their logistics. There are too many people behind the counter to be so ineffective with both food delivery but also restaurant upkeep.
I absolutely love their grandma's chocolate cake with cream cheese icing. Great quality pastries. Worth every penny. They have so many different varieties of pastries. They also have awesome sandwiches and quiche. 2 thumbs up!
Delicious pastries and free wifi.
My favorite sandwich is the chicken salad on sour dough bread. As for my favorite desserts, it is a toss up between the Black Gold cookie or a Marble cupcake. YUMMERS!
I've been a loyal Upper Crustacean for decades. Everything is delicious, but the warm and friendly staff and laid-back ambience are what has kept me coming back all these years. It's a little piece of Old Austin.
Love this place! Always friendly, great prices, and DELICIOUS food!
Cinnamon rolls are incredible without icing, all other bakeries are awesome as well. I love it because it's never too sweet.
Great croissants and oatmeal muffins.
A favorite evening place of mine. The service was very friendly and kind. The bill was appropriate.
Great pumpkin pies, best challah bread in town and plenty of other goodies. If you love something, order it ahead of time. Some things sellout fast.
It's our favorite go to place☺
Great food & coffee!! Sweet employees that are willing to explain what things are & even gave us samples.
Probably the best bakery in town! I will drive from Cedar Park just to come here on special Saturday mornings. They also have just the best carrot cake I have had in town, even better than any restaurant. If it wasn't so far away from me I would go every week. Make sure to get there early and try their quiche, the ham and spinach is my favorite.
Best bakery in Austin for many years running. Staff is always friendly, food is incredible.
Delicious and so many choices.
I got the kolache and sausage quiche - both were amazing. The staff was very friendly and the establishment was clean.
Best bakery in Austin! So glad I found this place.
Fresh brioche on Saturdays
Get here early as they sell out of pastry
I have yet to have a bad experience with the quality of the customer service or food quality at Upper Crust. Their cheese soup is to die for, and although I don’t recommend combining the two, if you ever get the chance to devour some Italian Cream Cake, you will not regret it. Their menu offers a wide range of pastries and desserts as well as soups, salads, sandwiches, and wraps in their cases. There is a good amount of seating although some tables are close to where customers wait in line, which can be noisy. The quality of their food (especially for the price it is at) continues to amaze me. I was able to get two large Italian Creme Cakes (serving 72 people) for $64. If you are looking for somewhere to sit and have lunch or do work, Upper Crust is the place. It is locally owned with fresh ingredients and you will enjoy whatever you get.
They do not use a real espresso machine but a automatic one. I suspect they also take shortcuts and their pastries I was not impressed.
Wwny by today. Its been a while. Lived in Crestview years ago and used to take my boys there. I guarantee this is still probably the best bakery in Austin. Ive tried many others over the years as I have moved to another part of the city but always return. Its a chill vibe, beautiful display cases and goods. Can't say enough about UC except it brought back a lot of memories both happy, wistful for the good old days and a little sad they are over. Maybe if mine have kids we can all go back. Its a tough business and kudos to the original owners and current ones as they've got a blue ribbon bakery here. Thank you for keeping it high quality delicious!
The best cinnamon rolls on the planet!
Some of the best baked goods in Austin. The staff rock and the bakers are the bomb.
Been in Austin many many years. It started out wonderful and has only continued to perfect what they do. Marvelous baked goods, lovely lunches, and a friendly, charming atmosphere. An absolute favorite.
Great Italian Creme cake. And great coffee.
The Italian chocolate cake is simple, moist and tasty for a reasonable price. A few years ago though we got their cheesecake and I thought it was overpriced for the quality. But then things may have changed since then...
Best bakery in Austin, by far. Amazing lemon pound cake and cinnamon rolls that are exceptional, along with lots of other choices including bread, cookies, croissants. There are also tasty lunch options and coffee.
You have to try the apple pie. Bought it for my family it was a hit. Pies are made daily with fresh ingredients. Definitely will come back, it's nice to see family enjoy a tasty pie. Hands down. Glad I made the choice not to buy from the supermarket. And there is plenty to go around. I all ready recommended it to coworkers and it was there first time hearing of it. It's not on my side of town but it is worth the drive.
The peanut butter oatmeal chocolate chip cookies were amazing! The cheese cake was okay, primary because of its lack of flavor. However, the atmosphere was comforting and spacious so that was a positive.
Great little gem for lunch & DELICIOUS baked goods
One of my all time favorite bakery's anywhere! Must visit when In Austin. Brioche are as big as my face! Cinnamon rolls are more like a morning bun and Dee-liscious! Good coffee too.
Nothing like it! I ordered a Black Forest 9 inch cake for my birthday which got me disappointed. It tastes nothing like it, tastes like gin is in it and those are not Cherries on top or rather they are overripe. I suggest you think twice before you order Black Forest from them and it looks nothing like the photos they have. This bakery needs to have right recipes to have good cakes or rathe right bakers hands
Some of the best tortilla soup around, not to mention their chocolate cheese cake is unbeatable. If you haven't made the time to visit this cherished local eatery in Austin, please add it to your list. Best times to enjoy this local hot spot are before lunch during the week. That way you get to see the wonderful selection of pastries and stick around for some yummy soup!
When I'm in this area of town, it's a must stop for me. Tried the Kiwi Danish for the first time. It was absolutely delicious. Had a slice of mushroom, spinach quiche. It was heavenly. Customer service is always great. Lively atmosphere and enjoy the different artists featured. It makes for such a delightful, fun time.
Excellent selection, incredible food, great service and staff.
Went der today at approximately 10am for some cream puffs, but they wouldn't be done till 11am,they gave me a cinnamon roll n coffee on the house just cause i was going to wait, that is awesome hospitality and even customers der making conversation with me who i didn't know, love dis place and highly recommend, will surely be back
Pretty nice Bakery lost to choose from customer service perfect.
.I love this place. Everything here is great. Incl. the service & atmosphere
Really enjoyed my breakfast here today! The cappuccino was perfection with the foam holding up all the raw sugar I wanted. I’ve never had a danish with fresh fruit just sliced up like this one but I don’t know if I’ll be able to go back to the jelly/jam style filling because this one was truly decadent. The quiche was really good, but the guy who was getting it for me was very confused about what was available and which he was grabbing. This could lead to some potential problems, so keep an eye on what they grab for you if you go the quiche route. It was absolutely STUFFED to the brim with bacon and spinach so it was worth the almost mix up.
Great food. Always busy. Wish they had a South location.
A good assortment of baked goods to be found in this busy little cafe. Today I purchased a cheese and jalapeno croissant, a large piece of cornbread, and a cup of coffee. All were delicious.
Always fresh always fast and always always high quality and delicious
Great sandwiches and a fantastic coconut cream pie!
Can I say bread and cinnamon rolls
Have been coming here for years and it's still awesome!
Oh my goodness... So many amazing pastries to choose from. We made our selection of three and were not disappointed. We will be going back to work through the rest
I love local bakeries and cafes. The pastries taste like they were made with care, versus in a factory. The management is super kind. I have met the owner and I just want to give her a hug. The food, while simple, is decently priced and tasty. The coffee, while not mind blowing, is still really good. All in all, this is an excellent place, and has a nice homey feel to it.
One of the best bakeries in all of Austin. Their "grandma's chocolate cake" is especially moist and delicious, but you can't really go wrong with anything here. I'm sure the not sweet things are good, too, but I can't resist their desserts, so I wouldn't know. Tip: you can buy cake by the slice if you'd rather cake than cupcake. I didn't realize that at first.
Great pastries and wonderful quiches. Their coffee is pretty good too!
Incredibly delicious baked goods, wonderful spot to read or spend quality time with a friend! Staff is always friendly too
Delicious selection and quick service. Everything is a little pricey but otherwise delightful. I enjoy the tomato and egg croissant sandwich with added bacon.
Hands down this is the best bakery in Austin. For me the Cinnamon Almond is the perfect treat, but you can't go wrong with any of their delicious options. Get there early before they sell out.
We bought a chocolate cake here. The base cake had coconut and pecans, covered with tasty frosting (
Pastry. Cakes. Good coffee. Good community table. Service.. so so.
My wife always sends me into Austin to get her some cinnamon rolls.
Best bakery in town
The cinnamon rolls. What else is there to say. I come and get them for my staff frequently and bring them home to my family as well. They are just delightful.
Go here every day for croissants and pastries. Only one other place in Austin compares. I don't like it when a new server is there who calls the petit pain au chocolat "chocolate bread" or chocolate croissant. I don't like it when little changes are observable to the end user. Not a coffee place.
Even with the church crowd, the service was fast and courteous. I got my drink and sandwich very fast and the vibe inside was still very relaxing despite the line
Still the best cinnamon rolls in Austin!!
Best Italian cream cake in town
I love the place. We live in far south Austin; so it's a treat to get a chance to eat there.
Wide variety of goods with tasty treats!
