REVIEWS OF Tough Cookie Bakery IN Texas

Karen Abrahams

Best gluten free goodies around. From sandwiches to cake it’s all good

Melody White

Best thing about this place is the drinks, gluten free peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. The food needs seasoning & they need a different gluten-free cinnamon rolls recipe.

BubbleGum DMT

I really like the vibe here. The coffee was good and hot, the service was friendly. The decor is very nifty, reminds me of home. #letsguide #vegetarianfriendly They have a ton of vegetarian options which is really cool to find in Bastrop. Not that I'm a vegetarian I love my red meat but I do have friends who are vegetarian and every now and then I try and eat a little more on the leafy side so I don't put on too much weight.

Monica Gierisch

Don’t go for the coffee. But the treats looked good.

Jamie Lynn

I love the kid friendly environment (there is a kid kitchen, chalk board, toys and books) and the food is authentic, fresh and truly homemade! This is our go too place to eat out for breakfast, dinner and snacks. Love the gluten free quiches and amazing breads!

Adam Hite

great food, great staff, and lots of vegan options

Will Powers

great tasting cookies and exceptionally nice customer service.

Theresa Hollingsworth

They had gf. That is always a winner for me

Fred Doe

Adorably local! This place is the most adorable little hole-in-the-wall cafe you could imagine. Literally everything is local, “reclaimed”, and cobbled-together. Everyone passing through Bastrop should stop here at least once! It’s a bit hard to find. I recommend parking in the lot a few blocks over and walking over. Note: They have a little kitchen playset for kids!

Courtney Tims

Vegan cinnamon roll was awesome!! Vegan blt was pretty good as well. Definately will visit again!

Alex Germenis

The bakery and coffee nook that Bastrop has been missing until now!!! Love this place: food is phenomenal and prepared with love, and it just feels so homey! Highly recommend for getting away from the busyness of either of the other coffee places here. ;)

Zoe Hubbard

Olivia Hult

Friendly staff. Lots of good options for drinks and food. Plenty of seats inside and out in the porch. Love the kids' kitchen play area inside! Great location between the river and Main St.

Dawn Dickerson Sankofa

My favorite coffee spot in Bastrop and the owners are awesome just like their sweets and African peanut stew!

Candiss Lawrence

Nice place to gather with friends. GF baked goods, good coffee, fair assortment of sandwiches.

Lindy Allen

Great food and awesome venue!

Josh Lloyd

Ever find something that’s been there a while but you didn’t even know it, but now that you found it, you can’t contain your excitement and you’re scared to let go because it might disappear? That’s how I felt when I found this place. I’m frustrated that I went so long without knowing it was here! The name is deceiving. I think they’ve done a poor job of marketing, because there’s so much good here that isn’t reflected in the name, & I’ve NEVER seen this place advertised. If you’re a vegetarian or vegan, everything is 1 or the other! ♥️ “So what, I can find vegetarian baked goods anywhere.” But wait, there’s more! They serve breakfast, soups, quiche, BLT’s, grilled cheese, brats, cookies, cinnamon rolls, peanut butter rice crispy bars topped with chocolate (I had 1 of these, they’re incredible), & many more dishes & baked goods I can’t wait to try. Along with a full coffee menu, lemonade, & tea! And they have awesome hours compared to most other comparable places in the area. It’s also in a great location, right next to Copper Shot Distillery & Neighbors.

Amber Linder

Overall the best vegan place to eat in bastrop tx I try and go often

Margaret Eker

Love this place. Great coffee and food. Wonderful play area for kids. Best avocado toast

molly z schnitzius

I really appreciate the GF selections here. Good Coffee. Small but god menu of meal options. I love hanging out here! Today, it’s my studio and I feel very at home. Thank y’all for the welcome and your friendliness!

The Texas Roadstand Drive-in

I love this place!! So good and different...The owners are really sweet.people...

Troy-Milja Brown

Simply the best place in town for health natural food, coffee (THE BEST COFFEE), and also a great place to just relax or do a little work on your laptop. I go there daily!

Alexandra Swan

Deeelicous! Kind and gracious staff. My favorite bakery in Bastrop!

Julie Gau

Very cute coffeehouse/bakery/cafe with some food options for those interested in paleo, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free eating. A nice place with great coffee, friendly & sweet people, and comfy, hometown atmosphere. And there's a small corner playspace for small children that won't stay put! It's a new favorite of ours, tucked in the Historic Bastrop area.

Kari Hines

Very cute little locally owned, family start up. Delicious coffe, fresh bread to-go, large variety of yummy pastries or more substantial food with vegetarian and gluten free options.. most that you can barely tell are just that. (I follow neither of those diets). Local art up on the wall is a nice touch, as id a small "kids corner."

Charlesworthmusic

Everything is SO good and great atmosphere!

Leni LaGata

Very good coffee and the cinnamon roll was amazing!! Love the vegan food and drinks!!

Mark Medley Music

This my favorite bakery in Bastrop, not only because of the awesome vegan selection, but the atmosphere and staff are wonderful. You don't have to be a vegan to enjoy their treats!

Kamille Chavez

Freshly baked cookies! Great for families. Who doesn't love cookies and sweet stuff?!

Shelly Belinko

Great atmosphere, lovely food and fresh baked breads, pastries, and cookies. There is also WiFi, a kids corner, indoor and outdoor seating, and local artist's and artisan's goods for sale.

Rebecca Pancoast

The food here is delicious and everyone is so kind. We live in South Austin but make it a point to stop by regularly.

Amy Dye

Quaint, cozy coffee shop with baked goods and novel sandwiches. Excellent dark roast coffee with free refills.

jelly 9000

Atmosphere changed like 4 times while I was there. Cookies were good but the watermelon and basil was not a good combo. I appreciate both of those foods but not a good combo. Maybe some fresh mint leaves would have made it pop. Especially on a hot day.

Shellie Lorenzen

Good gluten free selection

Betsy Moore

REDPIXEL eightbit

Nice comfy atmosphere, delicious treats and a lovely peaceful location.

Todd M.

Best latte ever !

Yvonne Segovia

So so.... couldn't taste butter in the cookies (had Paleo, wheat, and gluten free options) so maybe just not my cup of tea. Iced coffee was a bit stronger than I like and I could not taste the caramel it was supposed to have. Worth a try if you want the alternatives.

Paul Jameson

Bevin Kuckridge

The Organic Pretzel is killer! Followed up with a Raspberry Bar and a Snickerdoodle and I'm a happy camper. I'm not vegan or a vegetarian , but you don't have to be to enjoy good food. Don't be scared, fellas! Polite service and an extremely peaceful porch. I may just become a regular.

Casey Forrest

Great local place with tasty food, but I can't help but be disappointed when the website prices are not accurate and things are a fair bit more expensive in store.

Vegan Vibes

This is the absolute BEST place ever!!!! The owner is super nice and courteous. The food is mostly vegan and DELICIOUS. I drive 40 minutes just to eat here. I highly recommend this place.

Rebecca Jaschek

I went back for another of tea. The jasmine is great.

Hollie Sramek

It's an awesome little Eatery tucked away behind Neighbors. It has gluten free options vegan options and anything from caprese sandwiches to really beautiful pretzel bread!

TONYA DAHL

The organic pretzels was delicious. They made a really good almond milk latte. Yummy cinnamon rolls. I got pretzels to go, they were so good! Made in house. Love all the organic options. Good vegan and vegetarian options. Pretzels were $2.25 each and a good size. Cinnamon rolls were big but pricey $4.50. Coffees reasonable prices and competitive in price.

April Baughman

Super sweet staff and yummy goodies. Have to come back for coffee. We got yummy ice cream and goodies

Richard Guzman

Good coffee, nice people, and the biscuits are handmade!

Russell Pickavance

We stopped in on a big bike ride and the vegan pastries and coffee really hit the spot....super delicious. Thanks for this little oasis. See ya, next time!

Winn C

Yummy snickerdoodles & chai! Friendly & cozy atmosphere.

Amazing food, I’m a huge fan. Couldn’t believe the cinnamon roll was vegan!

Travis Lay

You’ll miss this place if you aren’t looking for it. Nice, cute little cafe. Lots of coffee and tea options. Bakery was delicious, ice cream was decent but nothing to crave. Has a kid area with toys. Great family friendly place.

Love Tough Cookie Bakery! Has great food, great people & love the environment! They also won best Stew for Bastrop Tx!

Jessica McEntyre

Wonderful owners and great food!! Nice eating area with some toys for kids.

Ivette Ramos

Tanya Rene

One of our favorite little spaces and places in Bastrop with great vegan choices.

Marcus Miles

Excellent place to lounge around. The chef dude looks a little shifty at first but is actually one of the coolest people I have met in Bastrop. Fun place to take the kids too.

Kairi Star

ridiculously nice and friendly staff that make you feel right at home :) food is too good for words, you just have to experience it yourself! and unlike other gourmet vegetarian places the prices are really good! the atmosphere here is very homey and rustic and cute and i love spending time here, they also sell crafts from local artists. 5 million points to house tough cookie!

Lauren B

Every time I have gone here for breakfast or lunch, it has been amazing. The food is wonderful and the staff are very nice. Also, the best place for coffee in all of Bastrop!! My only complaint is I wish I had gone here sooner!

Valerie Welch

Love everything about Tough Cookie! Great cold brew coffee and their peanut butter rice krispie treats are my fav :) The owners are so nice and have created a really inviting space. It's easy to pop in for a quick coffee but also comfortable to hang out and get some work done.

jessica youmans

Our family LOVES this place!

No Yes

cool bakery

Athena Estrada

Great bakery, great customer service, and great atmosphere

Ritchie Russell

The only options they have are for vegan or vegetarian. No options for those that are not. Service was really good and that's why I give them 3 stars.

Rosella Pena

Fantastic and creative meal options here. I had a Rosie Palmer (lemonade with Hibiscus mint tea) and a really great quiche which was mushrooms, broccoli and Gouda cheese with a shredded sweet potato base instead of a pie crust, making it a gluten-free and Ooh so delish dish. Oh and, can't forget the avomash on pretzel bread side. To Die.

Bianca Rawlings

Good selection of vegan items. Tofu wrap wasn't mind blowing but the avacado toast was. Great for kids! Toys in the corner. Brownie was too rich. Wish I had tried a cookie.

Tina Esnaashari

Good vegetarian place for a small town.

Charles Bastian

Food was not great, and the service was very slow.

Jo Castillo

Excellent vegetarian and gluten free menu. The Avacado Mash on toast is my favorite. Great coffee! Friendly staff. Art on the walls. What more can you ask?

Mary Morrison

Great cookies

Nick Comito

I'll be working from here instead of commuting to Austin. Free WiFi, great coffee, and even better breakfast and treats that don't upset my stomach like most of the other Bastrop establishments. This place is truly a gem.

Darlene Benoit

Their Paleo cookies are awesome. Good selection of gf items. Nice atmosphere and the people who wait on you are very friendly.

Roshanda Griffin

My large, vanilla-hazelnut latte was over $10. Added whip cream. That is the most I've ever spent on a latte ever and I have probably purchased nearly a 1000 lattes in my lifetime. Ridiculous.

Mary High

Lindsey McKinney

For being gluten and dairy free my experience was pretty awful. As someone who chooses not to eat particular ingredients, I sought out Tough Cookie because they offered baked good they catered to my lifestyle. Literally the worst customer service. I would never never go back. First of all when you walk in for some baked goods and coffee, IF there is someone there to greet you - THEY'RE RUDE. Secondly, if you ask any questions, THEY'RE ANOYED. Third, if they feel you are not welcome, they will ask you to leave. I regret spending any of my money here once I learned they asked my 65 year old FATHER not to come back when he was a regular customer, also CHOOSING to drive to Bastrop like myself, and give money to this business. SICKENING. No reply needed OWNERS!

Cynthia Cannon

I am so into this place. Just moved to the area and I have found my go to spot for coffee and baked goods. They also serve food, ice cream. They sell freshly baked loaves of bread and do custom baked goods. We commissioned them for a vegan strawberry cake with chocolate icing. It was delicious and the baker, Jennie was communicative and so helpful. Totally worth outsourcing to save my sanity. The vibe is casual and down to earth. There is even a little area for kids to play while you sip on something delish.

Donna Baker

Great variety of vegetarian and vegan foods at reasonable prices. Owners and staff are friendly. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxing. One of my favorite eating spots in Bastrop.

Sabrina Canada-Agosto

Me & My Friend Visited This Bakery Two Days Ago. We Had A Little Trouble Finding It But, When We Did It Was Nice & Cozy. The Food Was Delicious, I Recommend The Avo Toast.

Anthony Hill

A tad left wing but nice coffee and hot chocolate.

Randy Beckman

Great vegan choices and super good bakery.

Mark Stumbris

Great coffee and treats

Debbie Haisler

The food is great and the service is friendly.

Lindsay DiPasquale

Theol Jackman

Friendly, welcoming, laid back place with delicious and healthy food!

Jace Allen

Great place, great food, great service! If you haven't been, you are missing out!

Taco McCrunchwrap

Friendly vibe, great food and drink. A great place to get a pie made for holiday gatherings!

Adam Goodwin

I once bought a loaf of jalapeno cheddar pretzel bread from Tough Cookie with the intention of giving it to my new neighbor as a welcome-to-the-neighborhood gift. I am ashamed to say that I ate it all by myself and never took even a crumb of it to my neighbor. I regret nothing.

Jen

Amazing food with lots of gluten free and vegan options. Great coffee!

Regina Ostrowski

A hidden gem! The place even has a coffee shop with a cool vibe.

Vanice Medley

Great selection of vegan baked goods that are also delicious!

Theresa Melendez

A great place for a younger crowd. Although a bit pricey, our coffee and baked goods were delicious.

P Portillo

Very cute and cozy place! Great food, great baked goods. There is an area for the kids to play. They have cute art on the walls. The only thing i would change is the restroom. It's only one toilet in a small closet. You have to go through the kitchen.

David Ridlon

Usually some Paleo diet friendly things to offer which is totally unique for a bakery. Gluten free sometimes too.

Torquil Creevy

Wonderfully relaxing place to enjoy great selection of Hot & Iced Coffees, Teas etc & fresh made treats & Vegan & Gluten free dishes. Love the Farmhouse decor too!

James Adjan

Tough Cookie is an absolute gem in Bastrop. They have delicious coffee, meals and desserts with plenty of excellent gluten-free and vegan options. It's obvious they put a lot of love into what they do and the space they've created. Highly recommended!

Karen Bellinghausen

Food was ok not the best but i tried to keep an open mind. Felt like i was in Austin somewhere. Kinda weird. Home schoolers paradise mostly mom's and kids.

Nicholas Cowey

Stephanie Moore

I love this place! It's a great place to get some delicious vegan foods & dessert, but they have non-vegan items as well. The staff are all really nice down to earth people and there's a little play kitchen area for small kiddos. The covered porch offers nice seating in good weather too.

Cori Love

The best banana chocolate muffin ever! It was very moist, not too overly sweet. I certainly will stop at this bakery again.

Dr. Marissa Castello

Delicious chocolate banana muffins, cool atmosphere, lively crowd!

A Wadum

I happened upon this place and am so grateful I did. The rustic home made charm of this place is punctuated by the ever changing display of local artisans on the walls. I was dubious of "vegan" bakery items, fearing they would be low on flavor, but have found the opposite to be true. The service is great and the people are so friendly. It is a great place to unwind after a day of shopping downtown.

Lori Green

I heart this place.

Benjamin Ratcliffe

Lovely food and good coffee. Great to be somewhere that is not just another chain.

E Roseborrough

The avacado mash on pretzel bread is a delight.

Audra L

I like to stop by this bakery a couple times a month to pick up desserts. There is also a nice variety of meals and drinks for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I highly recommend stopping by Tough Cookie!

Bill Gilstrap

This place is awesome! Great food, helpful servers, fantastic ambience. It is NOT wheelchair accessible, so I had to crawl up the stairs. It was worth it, nonetheless.

Debra Pahlow

Grassroots Bastrop at its best. Chris & company throw down on some delicious "carbs with a conscience." Bottomless coffee and a Bavarian-style pretzel is my Bastrop happy.

Crystal Keene

Good food good service every time.

Mozz Arella

Great service and fair prices. This is probably the best option to eat healthy food within 30 miles. Their lunch menu consists of mainly sandwiches, but also bratwursts.

Little Idea Big Picture

My husband and son loved it. Slow paced, good music, calm, they have a kids play area, beautiful decor and art on the walls, pastries. We went because we were itching for something sweet. We'll be back if we r in town.

Lily E

Very friendly staff and delicious drinks. I'd recommend you don't order eggs or meat at a vegan run rrestaurant in general, but other than that everything is amazing. Three watermelon aqua fresca is to die for

Neil H

great coffee and the baked goods are delicious, I highly recommend.

Concierge Media

These guys are a well hidden gem located just beside the river in Bastrop Texas. Surrounded by many shops and just around the corner from Main St., Tough Cookie is a perfect blend of artisan coffee and vegan cuisine. Now, mind you I'm not vegan in any way. But the food is so good that I traverse into that cuisine almost every day because of these people. I love them btw. They pride themselves on becoming your friend before you become their customer. They usually have my cup ready before I even get to the counter. Great coffee, great food, great people, great atmosphere, and last but not the least, great internet. If you are in Bastrop Texas, you should stop in. Oh, try the vegan homemade ice cream. It's the bomb!

Leticia Hernandez

Fantastic place, sweet people! Drove in from Austin to try out this place. Their dairy free cinnamon rolls are to die for. The gentleman behind the counter gave me a complimentary chai and cinnamon roll while I was waiting for my cookie cake. I will definitely be back!

Eve Russell

Thank goodness for Tough Cookie! They’re so cute and right along the river in a cool little lot worth exploring. Great for kids or big groups or just sitting by yourself. The vegan food is delicious and fun! Pretzel brauts are definitely a must try!

Aviel Belinko

Great people. Great coffee. Wonderful atmosphere. Loved their cute retail corner

Judy Yoshimaru

Just found this wonderful place on Saturday. What a great addition to Bastrop! I loved it and will be a frequent customer.

DMATX

Loved Tough Cookie Bakery! Very friendly and welcoming, delicious coffee and treats. Make sure you order a pretzel and ask them to warm it for you, becasuse it was heavenly! Can't wait to return!

Maegan Hernandez

Seriously good Ice cream!

Shaun Mosqueda

For only five, yes FIVE dollars, an Americano and toast is actually two FRESHLY ground and tenderly pulled shots of Ruta Maya Espresso and three thick hunk slices of chewy homemade whole grain beer bread slathered in butter and beautiful Raspberry preserves. This is absolutely my new morning ritual. I sipped coffee and listened to Jeff Buckley over the stereo. How can you beat that? There are a ton of baked goods and coffee options here and it looks like some sandwich options in the near future. Do yourself a favour, and try this place out on a lazy morning or before work if you have some time.

Alex Henley

I’ve really come to love this place. Their coffee is the best in town and the staff is very friendly. In the heart of downtown Bastrop, you won’t find a more genuine and comfortable environment to grab some coffee, tea or food with friends or colleagues.

Tori Irizarry

Always friendly. Giant cinnamon rolls! Vegan, vegetarian & gluten free options a plus! This has become our favorite little bakery. Will make trips just for the ginger molasses cookies.

Tammy Withheld

Tried this place for brunch. I didn’t care for the quiche and while it was -maybe- made there at some point, I’m pretty sure it was not fresh but frozen/reheated; $6 for a very average slice. The rice crispy bar was $3.00....pretty outrageous, but tasty. For vegans there isn’t much choice in Bastrop, I guess.

Amazing vegan options, quaint and cozy spot on the river

Calais Galbraith

Such a cute little hidden place! Delicious coffee and treats. The atmosphere is very warm and plenty of places to talk or study. Great options for any vegans as well :) Will be coming back!

Krystal G

Great staff and what's available is usually really good. Waiting for more options, but this is my good for place for something healthy. Not many choices for healthy in Bastrop. A juice bar would be awesome to add! Great desserts though!!!
