Best French / Acadian (Cajun) style baked goods, awesome burgers and food
Old school good
Expensive but excellent.
The king cake was amazing!!!
I misordered a couple king cakes for a party in Galveston from Mail Order Bakery in New Orleans. I called Acadian at 2PM on Friday afternoon...ordered 2 cakes and they were ready by 4:30. The Party on Saturday Morning is Saved. Thanks for the great service. I'll be back next year.
I went into the bakery on a Tuesday and ordered a cake for Saturday pick up. When I arrived on Saturday the bakery had a sign saying they were closed until Tuesday!!!!! They had my phone number and never called to tell me. I called the Emergency Number, and left a message, it is 4 DAYS later and I have yet to get a call back. The cake was for a friends 40th birthday, needless to say I was extremely upset not to have a cake. Do not depend on this bakery if you are needing something for a special occasion.
Best hamburgers in Houston and great cakes, cookies and brownies.
Very rude. I called and asked for a donation of 1 king cake for our group that volunteers our time, effort, and money to support scholarships for graduating high school seniors. She abruptly cut me off and said “SHE ONLY DOES ONE DONATION A YEAR FOR 500 COOKIES, SHES A SMALL BAKERY, and OUR ORGANIZATION HAS TONS OF MONEY.” I was trying to explain this is for a meeting that the volunteers pay for out of their pocket along with the other stuff we come out of pocket for (time, effort, money, gas, etc) and I was only asking for one king cake and she HUNG UP ON ME! -while I was still talking. If she would have let me finish I was gonna say if she were to donate one I would be buying 2 too (OUT OF MY POCKET). I feel my ask of a donation of 1 king cake ($40) was not an out of the way question and considering I would be buyin two more (@ about $40 a pop) out of my own money. I will not order anything from this bakery again!
Small asks quaint spot for lunch
Been getting cakes here since the early 2000’s I think. Always great. Amazing burgers and onion rings
This is a wonderful place to eat lunch and the desserts were amazing.
The burgers are super delicious. It dint even make it to my social media. I wish i could eat one everyday!! With a slide of cake
I love Acadian Bakery! It's a nice quiet place where you can get one of the best burgers in town without all the hustle and bustle. Their baked goods are off the charts amazing and their king cake is to die for. They clearly take pride in being a noteworthy business of the Houston community, as they've got the better part of the walls covered with local awards and the business' memorabilia. All in all it's a great place and if you haven't stopped by, then you're missing out.
Had a friend come into town and she asked me to take her here again. This place has a cool design.
Good Hamburger.
I pick up a box of Acadian Bakery every time I'm dropping by a family gathering or potluck, because they are ALWAYS a hit. These cookies are magical. I don't know what they put in them, but if I lived on this street. I would probably start to resemble Bo from Dragon Ball Z after a few months :-) Go for the walnut chocolate chip. There is no question. The others are good, but walnut chocolate chip is, and always will be, the Acadian Bakery classic. Then go buy a jug of milk from the bodega next door. Get yourself to Central Park and take a big, rich, life-affirming bite of that cookie. There might be a line out the door, but it goes by super quickly. I used to reward myself with a cookie every time I went for a bikini wax at Max Wax upstairs, then I noticed I was scheduling an awful lot of waxing appointments.
Great food in a local down scale eatery
Lovely and Charming little place
They have a reputation for their cakes and they did not let us down. Excellent food and staff.
Bought a normal cake here for our wedding (long story) and it was great. Fed everyone and fed us for a long time. Come back here every year to get a small cake for our anniversary.
Good sandwiches, great fries. Better known for baked goods, they do a mean King Cake
Small sandwiches and microwaved fries were underwhelming.
Excellent burgers....great customer service....and love the atmosphere and especially the fresh flowers...great touch!
Would give 5 stars if they had longer business hours. But the food is excellent and the ambience is very "neighborhood". Will be a regular here from now on.
Acadian Bakery has the best cakes period. We always buy our Birthday and Special occasion cakes here. Our favorite cakes are the Brownie Chocolate Mousse the Italian Cream cake and the Humming Bird cake. :)
Excellent baked good, how you must have patience. Don't not go in a hurry!
Found the famous New Orleans cake 1/2 lemon 1/2 chocolate it was delicious!
Great cookies
They get lots of raves, but I can only say it was OK.
The best bakery...anywherr.
Great sandwiches, unique atmosphere.
Waste of Time and Sugar
Best oatmeal raisin cookies ever. When a hurricane was about to make landfall the next day, this was my first stop for 'supplies' in case the city shut down for several days.
Service is always prompt even when they have a full house. The service was very friendly and kind. Bring your hunger - portions are large.
Very limited walk in selection and customer service so bad I never even got to taste these alleged pastries for the so called stars. They didn't want my money. Save the effort and go elsewhere.
Great cakes!
Great service.
Excellent bakery!
Famous for its King Cakes for Mardi Gras. Good place for lunch and friendly staff.
The cake was beautiful and delicious!
Poor management and unethical work attitude makes this please a definite no no. The cake was not ready with the desired design on time which completely ruined my 1 year old's bday party. The design was sent to them 3 days in advance even though they claim they never got it. They even replied to the email and still claim they did not get it. Save yourself and keep away from this place. "Baker for the stars but definitely not the common man"
Best Cheeseburger I ever had!:)
Bar-none the best cheeseburger in Houston! Can't get better king cake either. The lady that works behind the front counter is so sweet!
Anything and everything is delicious! King cakes are the best in Texas....better than any king cake from New Orleans. Try anything on the menu ...you won't regret it
The best Italian Cream Cake you will ever taste. Ordered a sheet for an ex coworker, there was not a slice left off that whole sheet cake. It was ready on time and fresh. Everyone loved the cake.
Great food and French / Cajun baked goods
My 3 star review is based off the prices vs. taste. My biggest let down was the King Cake. At almost $40 this king cake was not worth the price. The flavor of the cake was only worth the price of $20 to $25 max. We also tried one of their brownies and it was horrible. This place is supposed to have the best King Cakes in town? Maybe 20 or 30 years ago they were good but the bakery items we tried are not worth the money. If you really want a good tasting sweet item go down the street to the Chocolate Bar. Now that place knows how to make some yummy cakes and pies! Now lets talk about what this place should really be know for, their hamburgers! WOW!! This is by far one of the best hamburgers I have every had! I will be going back to eat more of those yummy burgers. Save your money on the bakery items.
The people in the reviews have really over-hyped this bakery. If you are reviewing this bakery and saying that this is the "best" of anything, you have to have a poor palate. Hummingbird cake made by them was simply a white cake with pineapple and banana pieces inside and was definitely not tasty. No spices used in the batter that would be found in a normal hummingbird cake. No cream cheese frosting was used and if that was their cream cheese frosting it was horrible, not even close to a cream cheese frosting, tasted more like a really bad buttercream. The prices were horrible in general but definitely horrible for the taste and presentation of the cake. They charged me 38 for a 9 inch. Definitely should be more like 28 dollars and since it was just a white cake with some banana and pineapple pieces mixed in, it should probably be 20 dollars. And the rave about the burgers is also an over-hyped lie. The burger was average at best. Lettuce, tomato, mayo, cheese, and my onions were burnt on the inside, nothing extraordinary definitely not worth 7 dollars or worth anyone saying it's the best burger they've ever had. In my most honest opinion, this business is making most of the sales through word of mouth from good reviews from people who like mediocre cake and burgers, not from repetitive customers due to great food and business. I will be back eventually to try other sweets and I hope that I just went on a bad day, but I was thoroughly disappointed.
Wish I could of experienced the bakery that everyone is raving about in the reviews. This bakery is in my neighborhood and I pass it often but it honestly doesn’t call to me(even though I’m a huge sweets fan) but my boyfriend really wanted to try it although the hours are a bit on the random side. Finally on Tuesday the opportunity presented itself when we where riding home with a friend of ours around later that afternoon. When we walked in we weren’t greeted and the selection was very bare and although I was having a hard time finding something that caught my eye (didn’t want to order off menu for a first try) I chose a slice of brownie cream pie and my boyfriend asked for a special pastry they had in the case and I last minute grabbed day old cookies(the only thing I actually enjoyed) just Incase our friend wanted something since she didn’t see anything that she wanted. We continued on with our convo and let the lady behind the counter pack our items and I paid. No have a great day or any sort of customer service after and when I checked the bag when we arrived home 5 mins later we noticed that my boyfriends dessert wasn’t in the bag. He hoped on his bike and headed back, waited in line, and when he politely explained his treat was missing she immediately became defensive and stated that she put it in the bag. When he pulled the receipt out she then changed the story to that she didn’t charge for it so it’s his fault. So you completely ignored him and then treat him horribly when he’s just trying to figure out what happened since he clearly ordered because she was looking at him as he pointed at what he wanted and read the name out loud. Because we both work with the public we know how a customer should be treated but we also know what it is to have a bad day and still have to help customers so he once again politely asks for the treat and when he pulls out his card she has the NERVE to say $5 minimum and he could just BUY MORE to hit the $5. If she would of had any customer service skills we would of never had to come back and spend less than $5! Never again, I know they don’t care but I refuse to support any business that treats a walk in customer that way.
Do not leave if it's busy, it is worth it. I've had nothing but great experiences here and will keep coming back.
A fantastic cheeseburger!
*The* BEST strawberry cake *ever*!
Great wraps & sandwiches...even better specialty cakes!! Yum!!!
Fine for king cakes and such, but I don't recommend using them for special occasion cakes. I gave them several weeks notice that I needed a reception cake and went so far as to provide a swatch of the color I wanted for the cake because I was told that they would match it exactly. On the day and time that the cake was supposed to be ready, I called to confirm that it was ready for pick up. I was told that it would be ready in 30 mins. Called again in 30 mins and was told it was ready. Well, it wasn't ready when I arrived. I had to wait another 2.5 hours. Additionally, they barely attempted to match the color of swatch. I asked for a pale blush pink and they gave me a bright, almost fushcia pink. The owner didn't seem too concerned that 1- I'd waited several hours or 2- that the color wasn't correct (it wasn't a difficult color. In fact, I'd seen a picture of a pastry with the same color displayed in their bakery, so I know they could have produced the requested color). They are fine for your average, everyday type of cakes, but I'd look elsewhere if you are looking for something custom-made for a special occasion.
Excellent King Cake...
The wait was long but the burger was excellent.
The staff is so nice and they have the best bakery!!!!! The lunch is great and filling for your buck!! Healthy and so tatsy!!!! Wish I could eat there everyday. Convenient walk in the neighborhood and so worth getting out and walking off the full belly!!!
We come here to buy their fruit tart. It's super good and fresh. They do not skim on the fruits either. Haven't tried anything else besides the fruit tart, but will do in the future.
Smells like cookies
Great apricot cookies!
Not good at all
Friendly service. Long time Houston favourite
Like a Whataburger with a fresh bake bun.
I love this though bakery it's a block over from where I live... The people that work there or just smiling people kind..... I love their sandwiches... They have the best Ice T in town.
Been reading all the rave reviews of this bakery but always passed at night, when they are closed. Had appt nearby, stopped in for lunch. Delicious wraps and salads. Hamburgers were huge (next time) with homemade buns. Many multiple dessert options with creative flavors and twists. Met the owner who is a real life hero & role model. Read her history and see a lifetime of celebrity & political photos. Two dozen cakes can be custom ordered and decorated. Definitely stop by if you are in the area.
The Italian cream cake... Flawless.. Idk what it is in that particular cake batter that gave it such a unique flavor but it's amazingly delicious. Ordered a humming bird cake for my daughters party and again we were very satisfied. Looking forward to my next order!
I like several items but a little pricey.
Awesomely rich and delicious cakes.
Only had King Cake. Its different bread so if you are expecting a traditional cake, this isn't it. Very cute presentation but i don't think the King Cake is what "the stars" are coming for.
I been thinking about this place since I was a little tod, and now I finally found it again!! God is good.
Nice place
Their King Cake is divine!
Delicious. Kind. Fast.
Not just a bakery. Great home made burgers too!
