We walked in to eat, seated ourselves per instructions, and were left unattended. Customer service was unacceptable. My party waited over 5 minutes to be greeted and served before leaving. Employees need to be more aware of their customers.
We arrived 45 minutes before closing, were told to sit wherever, and the waitress gave us our menus. She was back in a minute to take our order but we told her we wanted to look at the menu. She was back after two minutes this time so we just picked the fish but ordered different sides. Our unappetizing meal came with waffle fries (which we didn't order). But decided just to make due, I had to literally go up to the waitress for ketchup and tarter sauce. Would never go again worst meal and service ever
On our last day in the Black Hills, we headed to Hot Springs for Evans Plunge and the Mammoth Site for a relaxing day before a long drive home. We needed lunch and we tend to like local restaurants and cafes. This place did not disappoint. I had a chicken salad sandwich and it was fantastic. Wife had an omelette, kid had the gyros. Both liked their meals as well. The bread is what sealed the deal. My wife devoured her toast before turning her attention to the omelette, and I knew why once I bit into my sandwich. Personally, I would not get the gyro as it was probably the weakest item that we ordered. I assume they get generic gyro meat, but the the Taziki sauce (which I am willing to bet they make in-house) was very, very good. Service was great and got some good advice from a local to not skip the Mammoth Site which we were contemplating. Took his guidance to visit the Mammoth Site and really glad we did (big thanks to you for recommending, we loved it). Well worth it if you are either staying in Hot Springs or visiting for the attractions. Very friendly service and the local people were very nice as well.
Absolutely amazing food! We found this hidden gem on our way to Mt. Rushmore, While stopping at the Mammoth site. I can definitely say that they have the best bread bowl i've ever had! Fresh baked goods and great breakfast.
Ordered a cheeseburger and the waitress asked how I wanted it cooked. Well done of course! Brought it out and the very first bite was disgusting! It was rare! And the bottle the ketchup was in looked like it hadn't been cleaned in awhile too. I tried cleaning it but whatever was on it had to of been there awhile. It literally turned my napkin black! My mom & SO are both witnesses to this! First and last time I eat there.
Great homestyle meals that are filling and tastey! Awsome cookies and donuts! Friendly staff.
Good food good-sized helpings
Great food. Super coffee. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.
Excellent breakfast and recently started serving dinner from 5 PM to 9 PM Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Other reviews dont lie. Really good from scratch food.
Great food, awesome bake breads, wonderful staff
The bread is delicious. They have bread, pie, & pastries for sale. I had a soup bread bowl. It was yummy.
Nice, down home type of people and great homemade food.
Super nice folks that work in this place, the food is reasonably priced, the place is clean, and the service is good. The place is definitely well managed, and to top it all off, they have a big assortment of delicious baked goods, pies, cookies, donuts, something for every customer.
Cute, friendly & good food
Great place to stop by, love the food
Excellent! Very friendly, great service and wonderful food.
Great little hole in the wall place with decent food. Their homemade bread is by and far the star of the show. (We loved the wheat in particular). They have a little kid play area, which was perfect for our busy little ones.
Awesome breads, ok service.
Very friendly staff and the stuffed hashbrowns and fresh made jalapeño cheese breads are delicious. Great, cheap breakfast for the amount of food you get.
They are very one sided they don't talk to everyone that is involved in issue at hand it's only one side that is it even though you go there a lot and they will tell you not to come back
Service was awful. Food was ok
Great food and friendly staff
Had a very good oatmeal with blueberry breakfast. Very good service
Had morning eats it was good
Outstanding food and low prices!!
Friendly wait staff, great home cooked flavors, fast service and local atmosphere. Went back again! Take a minute to view the mini waterfall out front.
Never again will me our my family eat here again . Our sever Amber thought we should know all the local gossip and bad mouth other waitress.. then commented on her tip as we were leaving .. my wife , mother and daughter were appalled at her behavior ..
Great breakfast. The bread is homemade and amazing.
Owner is very friendly and kind
Good food a little limited on selection
Great food, great service!
Great home style cooking. They have unbelievable cheesecake as well. Slightly more pricey than you might expect, but well worth it. I'll come back often for the cheesecake.
Got breakfast here two days in a row while staying in Hot Springs. Home cooking is always a winner, especially for breakfast, and they don't disappoint. The corned beef hash and the biscuits and gravy were great. That said, they do appear to cook with a lot of oil, so those with sensitive stomachs beware. They also have a wide selection of baked goods, which we tried a fair amount of. Their breads are delicious (try the jalapeno cheddar) and the rhubarb bread pudding was sinful. The muffins were a bit dry and disappointing, as were the biscuits, but overall this was a good find, and to top it off there's a nice view of the falls across the street.
Wonderful home made bakery
Great breakfast and bought a few loaves of bread that were delicious.
Dirty! Lousy waitress! So so food. Weird guy hovers watching the servers
Local place where the food served hot! The food was cooked to perfection. The staff friendly and helpful. Prices good and menu had good choices. We were there for breakfast. Excellent.
Just fine for a small town diner.
Great food and reasonable prices nice people
Best bacon ever!! The bread is amazing too!!
Comfortable space; view on Fall River Falls; wide range of bread choices for toast with breakfast; reasonable pricing; great service
Excellent food, service, location!
I enjoy the quirky setting and the staff is friendly enough. Could use a little work in some areas pertaining to catering to guests but overall delightful.
Food was pretty good; Pancakes are quite large and tasty. Service though was a different story, as we waited quite long to be seated and order. Walking employee yeeted coffee on my foot, burning my big toe. Not too impressed.
Had breakfast, pretty good
Slow inattentive service for Saturday breakfast. Took 10minutes to take my order after giving me menu- only 6 other people in the restaurant at the time. Cook was loudly coughing and hawking up loogies in the kitchen. Gross. Never got my coffee refill when server said she was going to give me coffee. When paying, I wasn’t asked how the food was or anything other than my total.
Busy place. Foods really good.
It was great.good food good service.will go there again.
Good local restaurant
So good that the locals come to eat!
They where so kind to us and our family.
We eat breakfast there often. Food is always excellent! They also make great bread and have other bakery goodies for sale.
Best hot sandwiches ever! Clean. Hometown friendly. Excellent prices.
After being closed yesterday, we sat down for breakfast. These folks make their own bread, doughnuts, and pies. Our party ordered ham and eggs, steak tips with hash browns and a half order of biscuits and gravy. This was the best breakfast we ate on vacation. Coffee and Pepsi were good. We purchased sweets for snacks and can't wait to eat them.
Always good
Pretty good restaurant. Cheap and best. Taste is good. Service is good. Customize bread toast etc. Huge potion. Liked it.
Nice employees, food ok (as expected for cafe), but weird smell.
Outstanding
Wonderful food. Great decor (& you can buy it too). Great bakery. But my muffin today was very dry. Tasted good though. I love this place. & right across the street from the waterfall, so great view.
Great place for breakfast. And oh the fresh backed goods.
Wonderful food!
Great place, great food
The staff was very confused as to what I wanted, I told the person several timea, just be ready to explain yourself. Definitely better this time than a few weeks ago...
Nice restaurant good food good service
Nice little Cafe in Hot Springs SD, friendly people and good service and food.
Delicious food, great bakery selections, and wonderful service.
Good food and decent prices.
Hooray we found it again. Location changed a few times in the last four or so years. Still the same wonderful lady as an owner and yummy baked goods. Try the rhubarb bread pudding.
Oh, what happened to our favorite breakfast place in Hot Springs? Where are the experienced and friendly servers? The never-fail cooks? From the get go, things have changed. The busser who served drinks had dirty hands. Our server took over 35 minutes to take our order. She served 2 tables that came in after us. When she finally came to our table, she didn’t greet us, but stood there. Our food was mediocre (the bread was still delicious, though), our server never checked on us, and after we asked 2 people for our check, she slapped it on the table, once again without a word. I am not sure if the change of location is a change in ownership, but please bring the quality service and food back. Until then, we will need to find a new place to enjoy breakfast.
Bravo ! Such great food - We are fortunate to have Daily Bread in our wonderful little Hot Springs !
Always great food
Homemade everything, yummy
Eaten here twice, will not waste money here again. Either too salty or totally tasteless.
Un tourist prices! Home style menu...
Very nice, good breakfast and friendly staff.
Never been to a restaurant that refused to cook your fried eggs to order, until now. This is definitely meant as a tourist trap because locals know that cash gets them a discount but how many tourist betting cash for restraints? Over priced for what you get
Good food
I Love this place! Great omlet, friendly staff, great bread. Definitely coming back next time we come thru town. Beautiful view of Fall River Falls, too!
Currently best breakfast in town. Sunday morning are crowded.
Good place to eat breakfast. Good omlets, awesome breakfast burritos, and huge pancakes.
Wonderful breakfast. Servant overwhelmed with do much people.
Small restaurant with good food,a nice array of desserts and fantastic service!
Great food and homemade baked goods.
Had a great breakfast, goood food proportion for a very reasonable price.
One of the most satisfying breakfasts I've had in a long while
I was craving biscuits with sausage gravy. They have homemade biscuits with the best sausage gravy, extremely nice staff, good prices and as you approach the cashier area, you pass all the baked goods, ah, peanut butter I fused rice krispie treat with fudge on top. I love South Dakota!
Excellent beef barley soup today.
Awesome place to eat in Hot Springs SD. Philly Cheesesteak sandwich with waffle fries was amazing. Fries were perfect. Chicken fried steak was great too. Wish I could have had one of thier pies but too stuffed and traveling. Highly recommend for lunch or quick bite.
Amazing! All home made food! Such I welcoming feeling as soon as you walk in!
Excellent rhubarb pie! Chicken salad and Gyro were very good. The beef vegetable soup was not good.
Absolutely delicious!! Everything is home made. Great selection of homemade bread and pie. If you are traveling through Hot Springs make sure to stop here for breakfast/lunch.
A true gem of a breakfast place. Pay Cash and save 5%. Awesome bakery
Always YUMMY food!! GREAT SERVICE!!
Great Breakfast this morning !!!! Got a loaf of Banana Nut Chocolate Chip Bread I cannot wait to try as well. We will definitely be going back.
Good breakfast portions for moderate price; very tasty smothered breakfast burrito! Consistent service and no surprises!
Service was slow. Took 20 minutes for a server to come over and wipe table and bring menus, after we asked the cashier. Don’t expect a drink refill. Only saving grace was that the food was good.
Average food, good service.
My husband and I are new to the area and we have never been there before and we like it very much
The food taste great. Good prices. Good service. Both my husband and I and our kids really enjoyed it.
Great food and baked goods--right across from the waterfall! If you want dinner, consider eating before 2 pm. Don't miss Daily Bread Bakery!
Awesome breakfast
Simple menu but great taste. I just had a plain grilled cheese sandwich and seasoned waffle fries. My husband had a patty melt. We were both pleased with the taste, quality and value of our meals. The pastries looked divine but we passed (now regretting)on getting some. I highly recommend this little restaurant to anyone staying in or passing through Hot Springs, SD.
This place loses zero points on comfort food and Midwest staples (tasty bacon & eggs, delicious chicken-fried steak), but their bread is where they really shine. Made in-house by their manager and master baker, Heaven Scent's bread is nothing short of miraculous. Seriously- this place deserves six stars for its bread alone. If you've been watching any baking or cooking shows, you know how important terms like "crumb structure", "crunch", and "bite" are in addition to flavor. Heaven Scent wins across the board, hands-down. They offer standard fare, such as their popular Sourdough, in addition to creative options like Sunflower Loaf and Jalapeño Bacon Cheddar. And fear not- they've got gluten-free choices as well. As an added bonus, the bakery is inside the cafe- so after you finish your home-style meal, you can take a loaf (or three) home. It's almost as good in your own toaster. Promise.
Best breakfast I have had in a long time. We will definitely be coming back on our next visit to Hot springs SD. Service was wonderful, we had enough time to look over menu and food came out in a timely manner. The atmosphere is great for the Cafe. Everyone was super friendly. Highly recommend eating here.
Daily Bread & Cafe is such a great place to have Breakfast and Lunch. Food is Awesome, Customer service is great with smiling faces and quick service whether it be for coffee or a full meal. You can not go wrong and the view of the Waterfall outside streaming down the cliff into the Fall River that flows throughout the town of Hot Springs, SD
Nice place. The people were very friendly. I had a gryo and was ok. I got two dounuts and have not tried then yet.
Great homemade food at a great price!
Great food and beer.
Very good breakfast and friendly service. The Ham and eggs were very good. They have bread there that is to die for. I had the bacon cheddar bread. Huge chunks of bacon in the bread. So good I bought a loaf to bring home. If your in hot springs it’s a must stop.
We stopped for lunch. Would stop there again.
Great as usual! Best bread!
Great food, Super service!
This was a great little place to eat. The strawberry rhubarb pie was excellent!
Food was excellent and the service was good. I'd go back again.
It's the second time i have eaten there both were disappointing.
Helpful waitress. Nice cafe!
Delicious food
The food was extremely disgusting there was eight of us and we all order different things and everything we got was disgusting.
My family and I ate breakfast here before going to the Mammoth site. The food was very good. The service was outstanding and the variety of freshly baked cookies, pies and eclairs was mouth watering.
It was okay. Not what I thought.
Nice place
Great food. Large portions. Good prices.
Good food wish they was open longer
Nice people, good food
We were in town from Colorado to pick up a friend. Me, my sister and my son. We decided to eat here, because it looked like a cozy welcoming place. Boy were we fooled, the second we sat down forks dropped and we were suddenly the center of attention. Everyone who was eating there were looking at us strange we all felt very uncomfortable. We ordered our food we politely said thank you when our plates were served and not one time did the waitress say your welcome. We all 3 said it at different times figuring maybe she didnt hear us. Nope sad but that was not the case. They walked around and refilled coffee cups for customers. Never once asking my sister or I if we would like a refill.I feel like we stepped back into time never have I ever felt so saddened by the human race. Its wasn't just the workers but the customers as well. Maybe a lesson in compassion and consideration is needed.
Good food, great service
The service, I have never been so offended. Order was wrong, no big deal it happens. However, I was ignored for 20 minutes after food was brought, and when I was able to get servers attention they were exasperated and made rude remarks implying it was my fault as they were walking away to the kitchen. My business was lost that day.
Great service, very friendly, but the food was just OK.
Do yourself a favor and don't eat here. The food was bland, the biscuits seemed like they were frozen, and the rest of the veggies did not seem fresh. Also, there cheese is processed and pre sliced. The decor looks like a senior center. The redeeming quality is that the wait staff is exceedingly nice and were very attentive.
They not only make the bread, but also theres a selection of the for meal. The omelette and hash browns and grilled toast was awesome. The staff was friendly and the service was suprisingly fast after ordering. Prices are reasonable as well. Now for those killer donuts made freash daily for only a dollar a piece, a carmal baverain cream filled long john that was better then the 2 chin places
i’m from nebraska and we don’t get good food like this there. it was very good and the service was great!!
Foods good. Service great
Great Food
Friendly service. Amazing food. Good prices! Big menu.
My waitress was inattentive to me yet attentive to my friend, she almost acted as I wasn't even there. WOW.
This is a great local place. The baked goods are awesome. This is our go-to place for breakfast in Hot Springs.
Food was fantastic and the prices where very reasonable. Donuts and coffee are amazing! Definitely worth the visit!
Great specialty drinks or regular coffee, soups and sandwiches are amazing!
