Fantastic find!! We stumbled across thid place and are so glad we did! We weren't expecting much from the outside, but we were very impressed!!! They were able to accommodate our group of 11 - and quickly at that. The food was ready quickly and it was delicious!! Also, it has gluten free options which was so nice for me! The portions were large as well. Another good option is to turn the wraps into a bowl, which a few of us did. Our waiter was friendly, helpful, and fast! Probably one of our favorite places we've eaten at during all our trips to the Black Hills!!

Another great place to stop in Custer. They are more than a coffee house our pastry shop. They have full breakfast and lunch. But don’t skip the amazing pastry. Not a large store, but they do an excellent job. They seemed a bit uptight about getting you seated and not allowing you to explore, but were friendly if you followed their system. I loved the peanut stack. Shared it for desert. Wonderful choice. Right in the heart of the tourist section. Another place worth stopping

Great little place.We came here for breakfast and everything was very good. Our waitress was very friendly and brought us everything quickly. Their donuts and bakery items looked fantastic but we did not have them as our portions from breakfast was huge. I would definitely recommend eating at this restaurant.

Would have given 5 stars but... Went in for breakfast and the service and food was excellent. Saw on their board that they sell loaves of bread. Went back a few days later to get some local bread. Circled the block three times to get a parking space. Went in only to be told that they only bake enough for the cafe. Why is "loaf of bread" on the price board?!

Nice location, friendly staff. We picked up a few pastries, roll and coffee. Ate outside. Beautiful. The food was okay, roll and turnover still a bit frozen and the coffee was tolerable... all in all, a decent place for a dougnut and coffee.

well we didn't have the breakfast but the bakery was awesome they have huge cinnamon rolls and butter pecan rolls as soon as you walk through the door so they're almost irresistible since it's the first thing you see. Coffee was okay not Top Notch average service was awesome people were very friendly very accommodating.

Greeted promptly as we walked in. Water was brought before we even settled into the booth and coffee immediately after that! Service was friendly and food came out fast. Maybe because we were here early (6:30) but my coffee was never empty, Loray (sorry if I misspelled that)I was very attentive. Bakery items are made here and the Apple fritter is fabulous! I got avocado toast which was delicious. Fresh avocado and egg cooked to perfection. The fresh fruit was actually quite fresh

Too bad they didn't want our business. They ratings and reviews rave about their food, but the rude hostess didn't want to serve us. We came in at 10:45 on a Sunday morning, and we were the only ones waiting for a table. Tables were full, but no one else waiting. Hostess said they probably would not be able to serve us breakfast, (apparently they stop serving breakfast at 11) and asked if we wanted to take our chances. We informed her that we were looking for breakfast. She said they don't serve breakfast after 11. I reminded her it was only 10:45. She was very rude in her demeanor and said again that we prob wouldn't get breakfast. I asked if it was a hard and fast rule, and again reminded her that it was only 10:45. She then walked away from us. We promptly left, realising she didn't want our business. I would hope that it was not a racial thing, as our party was mixed, but it was very obvious that she did not care for our business. We went to the Begging Burrito Mexican Bistro a couple of doors down and were welcomed with open arms, even though they were not officially open for another ten minutes.

We were in Custer for a week on vacation, stopped by the Baker's Bakery & cafe several times, but the hours vary so only got in once. We got seated, and the waitress proceeded to give the list of items the were not available, including breakfast. So we left. She then said I don't know why they came in. The sign on there door said breakfast so that's why we went in. Definitely wouldn't recommend. Walked down the street to Burger and Bun Co. fantastic experience there and 100% recommend. Everything was available. People were very nice.

We loved this place so much when we were on vacation out west, we visited twice. The staff is amazing, Lauren (our first waitress) made special accommodations to ensure we had a great breakfast. My daughter wanted the avocado toast, but only likes boiled eggs.....Lauren ensured her toast just had avocado, tomato, and a boiled egg on the side! We also had doughnuts, burritos, omelets, and a breakfast sandwich. If you eat here for breakfast....you won't even feel hunger till dinner time!

Baker's was recommended by the campground owner. So we went for breakfast. The Western omelette was a shared plate and quite enough food. The guys had breakfast burrito with green chili and loved it. The portions are generous. Four stars are given because the coffee was quite bitter and the refills/bringing our ticket to leave were too slow.

Food was mediocre and the server (older lady) was extremely rude. I had a bunch of friends who arrived after us and wanted to sit next to us, but the waitress said no. She said they would have to go to the back of the restaurant since it was a bigger party. But, what annoyed me most was that there were 3-4 vacant tables next to us, and our friends could have sat there. Come here if you enjoy rude service!

Ate there for lunch one day ... Drove all the way back for breakfast called and said they serve till 11! Kids were excited for some pancakes.. got there at 10:50 and very rude ... Told us they would not serve breakfast even though we were there to be seated before 11.. we went somewhere else to eat because of how abrupt and rude ... Went to "Our Place" ... There are lots of other places in town - I don't patronize people who are rude to customers. Recommend Go elsewhere!!

Honestly, I will likely remember this as the friendliest service I've received in my life. I ordered the avocado toast on sourdough and grabbed a giant chocolate cookie to go, my coffee was refilled and refilled and never empty. Thank you, Seth! (I hope the name on my ticket is right)

Everything we ordered was delicious. Kids pancakes were huge, I would split those for smaller kids. Bread was fresh baked. Avocado toast was delicious. The bakery items in the front case were amazing, especially the lemon bars and the brownie with a pretzel crust.

This place is quaint and popular! The best mocha I've ever had! They also have expresso, etc. Sit down in or outside. We had the fresh apple turn overs and we could have eaten the whole tray! I highly recommend stopping in! Clean, friendly professional!

I would describe it as a fairly standard diner-type spot. The breakfast and pastries are technically proficient but they lacked a certain soulfulness; even though they say everything is homemade, it was hard to taste the love and sweat in the pastries and biscuits. +1 star though for the western omelette with a side of green chile sauce that is the bomb.

We ordered the two-egg breakfast, avocado toast, breakfast sandwich, and a caramel bun. The black rye is to die for. It's very fresh and soft. My favorite rye bread by far! The eggs were scrambled perfectly. The breakfast sandwich was served on a fresh roll that was soft and slightly sweet. It was very tasty! This was our second time here and we'll definitely be back the next time we're in Custer!

The restaurant is nice but not so great that you should talk bad about other restaurants in your small area. It does not settle well with me that you discuss that out in front of your customers, keep that to back room talk.

We chose Bakers because a better-known restaurant was closed, but we were not disappointed. We got a buffalo burger (after all, we were in Custer) and a regular burger and switched plates halfway through. Both were very tasty, with the bison a little drier, but that's the nature of the beast. Since fries are available everywhere, we got baked beans and slaw as our sides. Again, both were excellent. The slaw had dried cranberries, and I may never make it again without including them. The beans were slow cooked. thick, sweet with a tiny bit of heat at the end and amazing! With the other restaurant closed they were very busy, but our server Lauren was attentive and friendly even though they were shorthanded and she was literally running to keep up. We bought some of the bakery desserts to go for dessert and "later" and they too were excellent.

The woman who sat us was sitting about a table length away from us by the entrance, while loudly talking on her cell phone. Im not sure who she was talking to, but apparently they screwed her over and karma is going to get them. This seemed like a very private conversation that probably shouldn't have happened right in front of customers. I don't know the the host's name, but she had short, blond hair. The food was AMAZING, which is why I'm still giving it 4 stars, but normally this level of unprofessionalism would cause us to not come back.

We went for lunch and ordered burgers and fries. Food was pretty mediocre. Service was unimpressive. Took awhile to place our orders and a really long time to bring us a check. Also, we ordered coca colas, server came by and asked if we wanted refills, we said yes, he said they were out and walked away. Didn't offer to get us something else. It seemed they were out of several items on the menu as well. Maybe breakfast is better? Bakery items looked good.

Family run operation where a lot of locals eat at. The owner comes in at 4:00AM each day to get the donuts and baked items fresh for each and every day. Great breakfast and lunch with huge portions. Clean, fast service, not sure what else I can say and no, I don't own the place. Just one of the locals that has been a customer for over 10 years now. Can not go wrong with a meal or pastry from Baker's Bakery.

My smothered breakfast burrito was cold on the inside w really strange green chili on the outside... Tasted like it was from a can? It was so gross, seriously. Before we left I wanted to buy doughnuts, the same blonde woman was ringing people up, she was being so rude to a little boy, I left. I didn't wanna deal w her or give any more money to that establishment after watching her be so rude.

The. Food. Is. AWESOME!!!! When they say that the buffalo burgers are 1/3-pound, you better believe it. They were huge! They make the buns themselves. The lemonade was a touch too sweet for me, but it was still very good and our son liked it. We were too full to get dessert, but we might on our way back through. The cinnamon rolls and sticky buns are about 9in (NINE INCHES!) in diameter!!

We ended up here, after a bad experience at another local restaurant. We where seated quickly our, waiter was great. Our Coke's never went empty. When we got the food everything was hot fresh and delicious. Before we left we got some pastries and they are outstanding. We left with lemon bread,lemon bars and a cherry lemon cheesecake thing. Every one of them are delicious. I will make this a stop everytime I visit Custer.

Somewhat disappointed with this cafe. The bakery says you will love their buns. But those who got burgers said the bun was doughy and not fresh tasting. The wraps were liked, but turkey croissant was not a big hit. Our waitress was super friendly and hospitable. Overall, we would not return.
