REVIEWS OF The French Bakery & European Cuisine IN South Carolina

Erica Mills

Horrible experience! We were visiting from out of town so we looked at the reviews prior. Most reviews were excellent, so we felt confident that the service and food would be great. After being seated, it took approximately 15 minutes for a server to acknowledge that we were here. After placing two simple breakfast orders, it took 1 HOUR AND 8 MINUTES for the food to arrive. After it arrived, it was cold!!! I really felt bad for the family of 10 next to us because it took them well over an hour to receive their food. Our server was busy and only visited our table twice. My friend had to visit the pastry bar to get a refill on her coffee because the server wasn’t around to top it off. On a positive note, the chai latte was delicious! Overall, a horrible experience and we will not be returning.

I stopped by for a chocolate croissant and a cup of coffee. the price on the croissant was $3.99 which I thought was acceptable. The coffee cup was the size of a Starbucks "tall" . The bill to go was $8.29 which I thought was little high. The receipt was not itemized. The server appeared to be a little put out that I wanted some cream for coffee. Although the croissant was typical for a french bakery I don't see paying that much for another chocolate croissant and coffee.

Jonathan Cannon

Excellent food. Well made and fresh. Moderate portion sizes (for the US). The burgers are big and tasty. Lots of sweet dishes.

My parents have a house on Hilton Head and for the past several years I have enjoyed going to the French Bakery several times each visit. I stopped by this morning and was sorely disappointed. From the moment I walked in no one addressed my party despite the fact that several waitstaff Sonia waiting for some time for the hostess to seat us. A warm hello or simple smile would have set the tone. The hostess sat us ina perfunctory manner. The waitress took our order but little else. She never checked back on us to see how we were doing or if we needed anything. There were leftover cereal flakes on the table from a previous patron. Getting the check took forever, and after waiting ten minutes I finally got up to investigate and sought the help hostess. Only after we finally flagged down the waitress we stood by and watched the system used for bill pay malfunctioning which took additional minutes to solve. No apologies were given. Perhaps another place might have every sought to make light of the situation or even offered a complimentary cookie or the like for the inconvenience. On top of everything the food was not good. I ordered an omelette and remember it being light and flaky with melted cheese. However this omelet was over cooked and had minimal cheese, and a paltry offering of bread on the side which I did not eat. The only positive part of the meal was when someone brought over the food—not the waitress— she was warm and friendly and offered a bon appetite. The French bakery used to be a step above, with a European flair, good cooking and good service. I will not be back any time soon.

My first indication to whether a breakfast spot is good or great comes down to coffee they serve. The French Bakery and European Cuisine not only offers great coffee, but way more then freshly baked goods. Their menu encompasses your classic breakfast staples and also some great twists on classics, such as their take on heuvos rancheros and their many forms of eggs Benedict. If your in the mood for something sweet, the crepes will have you left with the feeling that you just had desert. Great spot on Hilton Head Island, and also extremely affordable. Great for a place with Family, or a great breakfast spot with your girlfriend. I would highly recommend! - T.A

I'm giving it one star because that's the only way I can post a review. I can't speak to the food or service, because we never got to try it. We showed up at 9:45 a.m. on a weekday and went inside to get a table. We wanted to sit outside, but the hostess told us they were closing the outdoor seating -- no reason given. It certainly wasn't weather. So we had the choice of sitting inside, where it was crowded and noisy, or leaving. We chose the latter, and we won't be back.

Josera Fama

Simply, the absolute best quiche I have ever eaten! AndI have had quiche from LA to Chicago to NYC and from Paris to London to Oslo too!

Charlotte Hendrix

Amazing quiche. Trying to find its equal on Pinterest since we live out of area. Great service and family friendly.

Lucifer

When asked to be seated outside, hostess had an attitude about whipping off and setting up a table. After waiting ten minutes for the waitress, ordered “sausage (3 pieces)” for breakfast, and got part of a kielbasa cut into three strips. Figured I could just order a piece of toast with ketchup and make a hotdog, but the bread was stale and had to walk inside to get the ketchup myself since the waitress was no where to be found. My mother ordered a cinnamon roll from the pastry case but that was the last thing brought to the table after everyone else had been eating their food for another ten minutes. But that wasn’t even worth the wait because her roll was stale too and looked nothing like what was in the case.

Chelsea Sikes

So adorable and delicious! We sat at the bar and could tell they were slammed and under staffed but everyone was so nice and helpful! Food was amazing

Dean Cecconi

Would have given 5 stars except the ovens were not working this morning so there were no fresh baked items. The French toast was wonderful.

Ryan Mullarkey

Only problem is choosing between the bakery cases and the menu, both are great.

Esther Riddick

set up of the resturant is tight, no where to really stand when waiting, space is tight, my dish was pretty disgusting but I think they were overwhelmed. There is a hiring sign for all positions. Took 36 minutes for our food to come out. $60 for 2 breakfast dish, for 2 people and then side of eggs for my son and 3 drinks. Not worth the money.

Rocktown Guide

A great place to start the day. The space itself is a bit small and waiting for a table seems inevitable no matter when you arrive. But it is bright, clean, and the smells can't be beat. The staff was very friendly and our server Ellie was adorable with the amount attention she poured on us. Our son (11) started out with hot chocolate, which he exclaimed was the best. He had the strawberry French toast, devoured it in minutes. Our daughter (8) had just the basic French toast, she really enjoyed the flavor and overall texture. The syrup was a great compliment as it wasn't too sweet. My wife had the whole wheat French toast. The bread was surprisingly good and fluffy. She commented on the flavor being balanced and the texture was smooth and soft, she capped it off with a latte that complimented her meal. I had the goulash and pancakes, very savory. The goulash was light on the meat, which for breakfast was a good portion, very nicely seasoned and tender. I also had a mocha latte which one of the best I have had in a while. Overall the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and very good food. Definitely a place to come back to.

Trenton Jansen

When we arrived they said it would take ten minutes to seat us but we wait for about 35 minutes. Food took forever. First time they forgot my meal I had to ask and they sounded surprised. Food was cold so was the coffee. They were out of pancakes so had to order something else. Service was bad. Ask three time for warm milk to warm up the cold coffee. Food was subpar for price. Never coming here again.

Mike Kuzich

Food is very good. My wife and I both had the Americano, which was excellent. Latte was good, too. We also got some croissants to go, which were also excellent. Nice atmosphere inside and outside, too. I do think it's a little pricey, but not outrageous or anything.

debra rodriguez

First time there and wanted a fancy dining experience -- we got it. Nice place, attentive staff, interesting and excellent food choices that we really enjoyed. It was a very nice experience.

Alan Fulwood

Possibly best breakfast I’ve had in a while. Cold brew coffee is on point! Normandy crepes are the best ever! Crepe, ham, sausage, mushrooms, cheese sauce, and pimento garnish! Great with kids and family atmosphere

Lucy Smith

Great place for breakfast and lunch.

Rachel Smith

We vow every time we travel to try somewhere new for every meal, but for this place we made an exception! We had breakfast then came back for lunch. Service was fast, friendly, and made excellent recommendations.

Joshua Murray

Awful pubic hair on plate with food... Also Horrible Rude Service and completely inattentive waiters. Food also is not great at all. COME AT YOUR OWN RISK

Mary Kopp

Love this bakery. A slice of Paris. Quiche are amazing as are the crepes. Every pastry is mouth watering

Jeanne McClure

Great place for Sunday Brunch with good food and service.

Rachel vaughan

Food is good. Excellent bakery selection. Service could be a little better. Probably not the place for sit down service if you're in a hurry.

Jose Nava

Waited for thirty minutes to be seated outside where there was no one then waited for almost an hour to even be noticed we just got up and left.

kyle booth

Delicious food, nice employees. Pretty sure it's authentic, and made by real French cooks. One employee was nice enough to take a bird with a broken wing to the vet.

Brandon Orndorff

Great food, Great coffee, Great Atmosphere, just Great in case you haven't gathered by now :) ... My wife and I love to sit out front for a little breakfast and coffee. 100% recommend for anyone living here to make this a regular stop and those on vacation to make it a point to add it to your list of visits.

Roger Frysh

You can tell when a place cares about their food. Everything was presented beautifully, tasty and hot. Croissants warmed in OVEN, not microwave. quality coffee. waiter was very responsive and efficient. Really nice ambience- warm and interesting. I don’t understand the negative reviews I saw. EXCELLENT!!

John Bickley

Excellent food and great service. Took home some delicious French bread and pastries!

Danny Sims

Great food and selection. Gluten free crepes are wonderful!

Lyn Rachid

Best coffee in town, definitely a place worth checking out. Food is good, and great value for the price.

Lindsay McCutchen

Amazing service, portions, and quality! Great prices

Peter Kandis

Very good food and service. Nice view of the salt marsh

Aric Buckholt

Great place for a relaxing lunch. Stopped in for lunch and was glad I did. The food here was full of flavor and the portions are just hearty enough. I love a croque madame and this is up there with the best of them. Get it on Asiago bread and really see what can happen! This is a great place - the kind where you look at the menu and in your mind go “yes, just bring me one of everything” What was really enjoyable was it did not feel rushed. Service is not slow, but perfectly paced for a relaxing meal. Also shows they are really taking the time to prepare it well.

Debbie McCall

Excellent service. Relaxing breakfast. We got here right when they opened so it was still quiet and they were bringing out the freshly baked bread and pastries. The coffee was good and strong. The farmers omelette was perfectly made and delicious. We'll definitely be back!

Gavin Mellor

Saw comments about slow service but I didn't find it too bad. We asked for water and Tabasco sauce when she came by and we got everything we asked for quite quickly. Food was very nice. Large portions of omelette and Croque Madame. Large cups of cappucino. Not sure why the negative reviews.

Sujatha Mahendran

Great food and awesome bakery! Loved the coffee too! I’d give this place five stars except that the service was a little on the slow side.. it could be that it was really crowded when we were there but I am sure they can do better. The staff were very friendly and nice but they do need to work on quicker service. But overall, really good food and would highly recommend coming here when you are in Hilton head.

Eileen Cooke

Came here for breakfast last week and it was absolutely incredible! I got the cherry French Toast and my boyfriend got Eggs Benedict. We were beyond pleased! And of course we got some pastries to go,and went back for more on our way out of town. We live a couple hours away, but next time we’re in town,we will be back!

Matt Holmes

I have am local and have always enjoyed the food at the French Bakery. This morning however it was not very tasty, it turns out they forgot the cheese on my sandwich, an honest mistake. They sent the manager out and he offered to remake it but by this time my children were going nuts and I did not think I had time to wait for another one. Since I had hardly eaten it I asked them to just remove it from the bill. They sent the waitress back to say the best they could do was half off. I don't mean to sound hard to please but I am a local and eat there quite frequently. I found their level of customer service to be disappointing.

Emalee S

Excellent, friendly service and lovely place to eat. Ordered the Quiche Paris and an iced coffee and both exceeded expectation. Food was served quickly and the table was cleared almost as soon as we finished. Would definitely visit again.

Margarita Varer

Great quality and good portions too. The Provençal crepe was filled with very flavorful and juicy chicken breast. This place gets very busy.

Alex Fulton

Went here for breakfast with my wife and it was awesome. My family is French and love making authentic French pastries and dishes, and this bakery reminded me of home. The options are excellent and the food is delicious and the staff were courteous, I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone on Hilton Head Island.

Marie Clark

Service poor. Food quality fair. Definitely not the same guality of service or deliciousness of food provided when they were located in Bluffton, SC

Angel Ellis

Delicious food and fabulous sweets. The coffee is great too.

Robert Zurla

Great food,great location

Russell Aldrich

1st time and WOW. Everything and I mean everything was superb! If you don’t love their food then just stay at Bojangles. Whenever I’m on the island from now on I’ll eat here every day.

CORAZONMANYA1

Good and healthy food but a bit pricey

Alina Nicoara

Best pastries! Had breakfast here and bought some baked goods to take home! Definitely go early for best selection! Coffee was ok, not the best!

Elisabeth Allen

Delicious! Looooved the French onion soup

Deborah Budziak

Wonderful & the best way to start the day with Breakfast. The food!! OMG we can’t wait for our next visit!!!

Rico Angel

OMG! Was totally caught off guard by this place. Took my family here. Every meal was fabulous. Very authenic. Breads and pastries are amazing as eell. Great service. Value priced. Could have easily charged 50% more.

Sharon Mogel

Fresh squeezed OJ, Provencel (Savory Crepe), The French Dip with truffle fries! Key Lime pie to go, as well as half of the sandwich and fries. Always Great Food! Must go there when in town!

David Hammond

Great place for breakfast and lunch. The food is excellent as well as the service

Samm Swarts

While the food is delicious, I was absolutely horrified by the way the staff treats its customers. In all of my travels, I don’t believe I have ever encountered such rude servers who engaged in abhorrent behavior. Such examples include: ignoring customers when entering the establishment, belittling an elderly couple who simply asked to sit outside while their “to-go” order was being processed, and yelling at a customer to move out of the way rather than simply saying “excuse me”. The owners of this establishment seriously need to consider some additional training on sensitivity and manners.

Katie Ki

Came here with a group of 14 and everyone was very happy with what they ordered. The service was great too (Dee Dee was our waitress). All of the food was excellent and the bread was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this place for a nice breakfast or lunch!

Justin Parietti

Absolutely fantastic food at a cute location. Will definitely be back next time we are in Hilton head. Don't miss the opportunity to go!

Oksana Loginova

With no warning cafe was closed at 3 p instead of 4 p. No note on the web site or anything like that. We drove all dressed up and came at 3 :10. Huge disappointment! We could not even buy anything to take out!

Rod Pell

A nicely done breakfast/lunch spot nestled away in Shelter Cove. Well thought out menu, attentive service and of course, delicious food.

tina keating

Food was good but overpriced. Service 7/27/19 was inept and waitress did not have a good atitude - complained that our party of 3 kept her running, we had to ask for forks for dessert, cream for the coffee, overcharged for the wine & then stood at table to argue about it, had to bring change 3 times for a $29 bill out of $40! In her defense she was very pregnant so probably tired. Mistakes can be forgiven, but bad atitude not so much....

Amanda C

Incredibly kind & friendly staff. So many delicious options to choose from, it’s difficult to pick! Can’t wait to go back.

Bonnie Lawrence

Crepes can be made gluten free and are quite tasty. The cappuccino is also quite good. You can also get salads, egg dishes and burgers without the bun. The bread choices for regular diners sound amazing. One of our group had the potatoe pancakes and said they were very good.

Tyler Helton

Possibly best breakfast I’ve had in a while. Cold brew coffee is on point! Normandy crepes are the best ever! Crepe, ham, sausage, mushrooms, cheese sauce, and pimento garnish! Great with kids and family atmosphere

Diego Zanandrea

this place is my new favorite breakfast place! great customer service and food is always fresh and amazing.

john embo

Food good service not so good

Camy Thumwood

Wonderful food and service. Excellent cappuccino and breakfast

Matthew Samsel

We've eaten here seven times - the food is outstanding. The service is sometimes less friendly or efficient than I like, but there just aren't enough people in the labor pool on HHI. Just go, relax, enjoy great food.

Megan Vessalo

Yummy food and amazing customer service. We came here yesterday with the plan to try a new place today, but loved it so much we just decided to return for today. I had a latte and the farmer croissant (cranberry jam and Brie on a croissant) and my husband had the Scandinavian (smoked salmon) crepe. The best part, however, was just how family friendly they were. Our waitress was phenomenal with our little one.

Michael Kristina Azza

It was an incredible find. Wife had crepes and I had a French dip. They were both perfect and service was on point

Scarlet Jones

They saved my wedding day!

Ryan Rivera

Comfortable and quiet room, excellent staff, good location near downtown. Plenty of parking, easy access to freeway and roads around town. Great Thai restaurant nearby is a bonus! This hotel is usually full so reserve a room early.

Russ c

Everything baked fresh. Delicious breakfast and lunch.

Lisa Dawsey

Incredibly pleased to have found this particular spot on the island. The staff were top notch. The food was unpretentious, fresh, and generously portioned for the price. The venue is very well maintained and clean. Menu selections appeal to a wide variety of patrons including children. I am very grateful to Ellie and the entire staff for a pleasant lunch experience.

Tee Paraman

The restaurant is quite lovely, hot drinks are good and the staff are moderately friendly. The desserts nice(although i didnt try it). Food taste isn't that great, but for the portion it is worth it.

Alice Miridis

omg.... where do I start?! Get a mimosa with their fresh oj!!! My fiancee and I went for breakfast.. I had a Quiche which was fantastic and my fiancee had the sweetened potato pancakes. They were tasty too, I had to try them. I had a toffee latte which was excellent and my fiancee had a mocha which he enjoyed. Great menu and it was hard for me to make a decision honestly. Everything that was being brought out from the kitchen looked and smelled awesome!! Looking forward to going back.

Danielle Williams

Food is always amazing, coffee is the best and even when busy the service is fantastic!

BILL ROBBINS

Awesome baked goods!

Ashley Cotner

FABULOUS!!!!! Not a super cheap breakfast, but it was absolutely worth the money. Can't wait to go back tomorrow morning. 10/10 without a doubt.

carol carpenter

Very nice and grest food.

Laura G

Love love love The Frenc Bakery, the ambience, the owner and staff are like family and hands down the best

Jackie Corley

Thank You YELP!!! The food is absolutely AMAZING!!!! I had the spicy omelette & just wow!!! Prices are very reasonable and the portions are a great size! Will definitely be returning! :))))

Jonathan Hinkle

Excellent breakfast and espresso. They've worked hard to make many gourmet breakfast items. Price was set to give customer a very good value for the quality of food. Especially suggest the classic breakfast sandwich and the buckwheat mushroom crepes.

Ray Hovsepian

It is a real European sthlr breakfast place.

Jesse Clarity

Food was amazing and excellent service :)

Tatyana Popescu

Ok service. The taste of pastries are typical American overly sweet croissant taste. Too sweet. The actual croissants in France taste way different. Coffee average. Location is nice.

Laura Hrubi

Anniversary breakfast with delicious food. Unfortunately, the air conditioner broke so it was hot. But we will definitely be back!

Monica B

First, the service is very lacking. They don’t communicate that if you want a pastry and order at the register you can’t sit inside. Then we asked if could sit inside, they said no. Later after complaining about how we couldn’t sit at a table or even the bar to enjoy our coffee and pastries they said well we have to put it all on plates for you and give you a server. Why was “for dine in or carry out” never asked at the beginning is beyond me. Secondly, I got macaroons and asked if there were nuts in them, they said no. There were obviously nuts in them. Luckily I tried them before my boyfriend, who is deathly allergic did. Overall we had a terrible experience.

Bethany Hart

The best part about this restaurant is the service and the atmosphere. The food is just basic, except the French onion soup, that was awesome.

Stephen Alfred

Nice location, attentive servers, and a diverse menu. However, not much in the way of healthy choices.

Greta Koning

To be here is a total feast for the eyes and the stomach. The desserts here are marvelous-- beautiful and there are so many to choose from. The coffee is also good. Expect a wait if you go for breakfast or lunch. There is a great playground in the back if you have kids.

Daniel Horn

Went to grab my wife and I some coffee and a couple breakfast pastries. The selection astounds. Coffee was good quality and the pastry selection was wonderful. Had a chocolate croissant and a jalapeno cheddar croissant, both were great. Customer service was prompt and polite as well.

Amin Karim

What an amazing place! One of the best French bakeries I’ve ever been to! We had latte, omelette, quiche and a chocolate twist. Ah I wish I could go back every day as this place was THAT good. The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was beautiful. I recommend this to anyone who’s in the area to try at least once.

Sugar Jones

Delicious food! Great prices and generous portions. Salads, crepes, sandwiches, and of the bakery! The Service is always great. Living here I probably have lunch or breakfast here monthly. I definitely recommend The French Bakery.

Hank Gilman

I've been a customer for a few years now - old location and new. Have no idea the source of these nasty reviews (I can guess), but I try and get here for breakfast every day when I'm on island. Great baked goods; great coffee. The service has always been kind and attentive, even when I have a crowd with me - or the place is crowded. Wish I could find a similar place where I live in Westchester County, NY.

Jill Jauch

Delicious, fresh and homemade. I highly recommend this restaurant for both tourists and locals.

Chris Keefer

Lots of pastries to choose from. Service was good, and harborside seating was great. Bought croissants and country bread to go, since we were on a day trip to HHI.

Mary Loete

Delicious food and fabulous sweets. The coffee is great too

Susan B Adams

Awesome lunch, great price and mouth watering breads and desserts!

Carolyn Spicuzza

Food good but not exceptional as priced. Took one hour to get our lunch. When we asked the waitress for pepper TWICE she got mad and snapped at us. Honestly, the Hilton Head Diner has better food and more reasonably priced. Unless these people pick up their service, it is my opinion they won't make it.

tracy lobertini

Unfortunately their wonderful food can not make up for their absolutely terrible customer service. We will not make this mistake again. There are many great places to eat on the island and I see no reason to be spoken to or have to endure watching elderly customers be belittled. One server even raised her voice when she passed by us with a tray. If your customers are an inconvenience to the staff maybe revisit the training. Not one person acknowledged customers as they entered. I have not been this shocked and disappointed in a customer service encounter in years.

Katie S

Great selection at a take-out counter. Restaurant is actually inside a strip mall, but it feels like a nice restaurant inside. And, oh, the goodies they sell...

Robin Bertram

The food was very poor quality. The service was worse. Never again!

shawn lutz

Nice place, good food, but waiting staff spread too thin for good service. Came two mornings in a row, same situation.

ROBERT WINDSOR

Surprising quality notch above the average. Wonderful potato pancakes, superb Cherry French toast. Cafe mocha could be considered Starbucks plus.

George Spinaris

Good food and service. Pricey

Ashley Summerlot

My favorite lunch on the island since they opened in the 90s (I think!?)!! If you are vegetarian and love brie... Get the "Old Farmer" which differs from the one on the menu, as it has French butter spread on it instead of ham. OMG... YUM! And everything else is fabulous too, desserts especially!

K N

Excellent pastries and bread and absolutely fairly priced for the quality. It's worth it to pay for one great pastry as opposed to getting a ton of fatty food for a low price (as typically happens in the south.) Hoping people in HH appreciate how lucky we are to have an authentic bakery of its kind. I go there every time I am in the area!

Kay Ks

Totally fake bakery Asked the man if it is baked there he said some if it STRANGE Asked the girl if it was baked there she said All of it ? Looked like Kroger day old shelf COME ON IF YOUR A BAKERY BE ONE

Thomas Frink

Would not go back. Service was poor and over priced for the food quality and service we recieved.

Al T

Food was excellent and very fresh. Service was a bit slow - seem to be understaffed for a holiday weekend

Angela Mayer

Cappuccino and pastries (cinnamon twist and chocolate muffin) were delicious. We were slightly rushed and they assumed everything was to go because they were closing in 30 min, but besides them being in a hurry it was an overall good experience. Outdoor seating available across from a park and playground. Cute atmosphere.

Sean Henzler

They surely have it together in all categories! I have a few favorites on their menu and so does my wife. We go there at least once per month for brunch on Sunday. Absolutely love it and highly recommend!

William Zurilla

Excellent food, friendly service, great location, with delicious fresh baked goods makes this a must visit in Hilton Head.

Justin Farnsworth

- food was fantastic - quite a bit of seating - large selection of fresh baked items - fair prices for HH

Aisa Trevino

Didn't get a chance to eat here because we were completely ignored by every single member of the staff. There were at least eight staff members walking around or behind the bar and no one acknowledged us at all. We stood by the hostess stand for over ten minutes and were ignored. You can have the best food on the island but if your staff is too rude to greet new customers, your business will fail. Our money was just as good as anyone else's but we were treated as if we weren't welcome. Thank you for ruining the morning of our vacation day by treating us with complete disregard. Eventually you will lose business if you allow your employees to treat others as if they don't matter.

Matt King

This is a very nice restaurant for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. There is a plethora of different things on the menu and variations of each. Omelettes, crepes, sandwiches, burgers. There is also fancy coffee drinks available. I can't expound on the coffee much because I'm not a fan but I see plenty of people lined up for coffee. Also, unlike many traditional French restaurants they allow substitutions here. Last but not least there is a park for kids right across the street.

Nicole

Generous portions, good quality food and service for a fair price. I love to visit this restaurant when I am in town, and I highly recommend it!

Mitchell Snyder

The food is incredible! Its such a cute little shop and is tucked away in the middle of this mall. Their bread is absolutely amazing and melts in your mouth. Its a must for anyone visiting or living on the island. Id eat there every day of the week if I could!

Eric Boorom

Fantastic experience. Food and service was top notch.

Scott Branch

Luckily we were only in Hilton Head for the week. This bakery is awesome. Great sandwiches and the chocolate croissants are amazing.

Tom Beery

WOW! Just WOW! Authentic French crepes and bakery items. Busy on the weekends, but we walked right in on a Monday morning. Great food and sevice. A bit pricey...but not to be missed if you're on the islands!

Andrew bovee

Food was fresh and the staff was very friendly. The prices were not too expensive and they are open for both breakfast and lunch

Beth White

The Nouveau Eggs Benedict sandwich is amazing.

Vlad Xavier

Quite a unique experience I'd say. Service was very good and the food was quite tasty. Especially their breakfast sausage. I understand that it is a French style restaurant and though many of their items may be imported, the prices on many entrees were quite high. Even for something such as pancakes. Although, I could be mistaken on whether or not they are using authentic imported wheat and grains that reflect the cost. Some of their salad options with iceberg lettuce are high cost as well. So with that being said, it was a pleasant experience. However, perhaps a bit pricey.

E McLean

Absolutely one of the best meals if ever had. Fresh. Delicious. And wonderful staff. I just hate I've been coming to Hilton Head all these years and didn't know about it.

dav hollid

My girlfriend and I came into town for a few nights from Columbia. Ellie took care of us the first morning and was beyond amazing! The food was absolutely incredible. We ordered some pastries and a few savory crepes. My girlfriend claims the cold brew was the best she's ever had. We enjoyed our experience so much that we came back the next morning as well. The food was again excellent. Ellie and the staff instantly recognized us and treated us like family. Two of the best meals we have ever had by far. We cant wait to come back and try the rest of the menu on our next trip. Thanks to Ellie and the gang.

Brandi Farricielli

Ask the hostess if they had a gf menu and she said “no, it’s a bakery. But we have buckwheat. I should have left then. Talked with the chef and they cook the buckwheat crepe’s in large batches along with the regular crepe’s. Asked is she could do a separate buckwheat and she said “they were to busy.” Cross contamination is high. They also spray the pan with soybean oil. We paid for our drinks and left.

Jeremy Usery

We never miss a visit to The French Bakery when we are in Hilton Head. The service is always on point and the food is delicious.

John Krupa

We have eaten there almost everyday since we arrived. Food is excellent with large portions. .. Our waitress Karen is fantastic, gives great service. The waiters are all very personable and friendly. Thanks Agnes Krupa.

David Tyson

Overpriced for the quality and quantity. Potato pancakes were tasteless. The texture was more like grits. Pastries were just ok. Had the lemon meringue tart. Lemon extract was overpowering and some bites were a bit bitter. Service was good though and our waitress took the tasteless pancakes off my bill. Oh, the online prices arent the same as the real menu. The building is very nice and clean. French only in name. Overpriced and under delivered.

Thomas Williams

This is the best place for great food and friendly service on Hilton Head island

Thomas Banker

Came here while on vacation and let me tell you, it was the right decision. Extremely large breakfast menu making it extremely difficult to decide what to get but I made the right choice about getting a crepe. The classic crepe is about as good as crepes get. Great food, Great atmosphere. Get here, you will not be dissapointed. -TB

Donna Sewell

Beautiful restaurant. Nice bistro music, soft jazz playing. Had a big dinner the night before and just wanted a light breakfast. Both of us had French toast, 2 strips of bacon. Frankly, I can fix better at home, with left over baguette slices. Spent over 30 dollars with tea and coffee. Hopefully lunch will be better!

Gene Gavin

On my top ten breakfast list. Service was a bit slow, but I think they were short handed on a Sunday morning, busy time. The staff stepped up in an amazing fashion. Best crepes I have ever had.

Sweetman

Food was amazing but the service was awful. The bus boy and the manager we're arguing in front of us and our waitress was terrible

Jordan Reynolds

Excellent coffee and espresso drinks. Reminds me of a European bakery!

Patrick McCormick

Enjoy the lunch, but it is expensive. My wife had the salmon quiche and i had the French Dip, both were excellent. The coffee isn't on my recommend list.

Maria Weaver

Probably the second best breakfast I've had in my life. The coffee was excellent the menu was fantastic and the food was unique and freshly prepared. Would recommend this place to anyone wanting something beside meat, eggs, potatoes and toast for breakfast!

Lana Stetsyuk

Excellent food and great menu choices. Crepes are delicious. So is kids menu. Very European.

Kelsie Chiara

Overpriced and rude staff. I tried to order a cake, only to be told to call back in two hours because the person on the phone could not tell me about the cake I wanted. When I called back, she still could not tell me about the cake I wanted and wanted me to pay over the phone for the cake without giving me a price. Needless to say, I did not order the cake and I quickly discontinued the call. Seems like a tourist trap.

Trace Turner

Slow service, but excellent food.

Fred Quinones

I expected a little more considering being a French bakery/cuisine. My server forgot to bring my cream for coffee, leave the maple syrup off my French toast never brought me silverware. The restaurant needs to do some dusting a little wear and tear. Overall it was okay nothing to ride home about.

Best croissants around. This is one of my yearly must have/go to restaurants on the island. I have been visiting the island for 32 yrs now.

Ashley Tanner

This place knows what it's doing. The food is unbelievably delicious and the staff is very sweet and accommodating. The owner is a class act and makes you feel appreciated. The coffee and crepes are both winners.

Stefanie Ganter

Awesome place with traditional European pastries and bread.

Sherri Lynn

This is the second time we have had breakfast here, and not disappointed!! Coffee is absolutely the best and breakfast is delightful!!!! Pastry case looks like an unending buffet of French deliciousness!

Helen Hnatow

Great place. Great ☕ coffee. Onion soup really is delicious and definitely home made. Their pastries all look very tempting may have to leave with some macaroons. Service very friendly. Pleasant atmosphere. ☺

Denise Pace

My husband and I love it here. Sandwiches are huge and come with a side salad or fruit or potato salad or housemade chips. We can split a sandwich and add an additional side salad and leave with dessert to go!

Jaime Rosario

Host was a wonderful person. She made the experience a plesent one.

Bob Buckley

Great food every time we come. The service is solid and the atmosphere is everything you could want in Shelter Cove.

Angie Seymour

Food is great and staff was so helpful!

Lauren Duxbury

Great ambiance, propper coffees and a reasonable wine list! We had a savory crepe and a slice of quiche and both were divine. The decor is lovely and the service is top notch. There is an extensive menu and wonderful display of fresh baked goods. This place is a jewel on Hilton Head (which is packed with rubbish restaurants).

Chris Fettes

Very tasty everything. Enjoyed the crepes and coffee.

Jillian Lent

This place was amazing!!! I got the Ellie burger and it was the best burger i ever had and the truffle fries so delicious. I ordered to go and the girl who took my order was extremely sweet and was willing to answer any questions i had. Would definitely recommend and go back!!!!

Meg Genone

Most excellent. Have spent time all over France and appreciate the quality. Great coffee too. BTW, obviously most of the ppl with bad reviews have never been to France. The service experience is very comparable. Quit watching the clock, smell the roses and enjoy the company u keep.

Zak Craig

I had the pleasure of having lunch here today. Sweet tea was perfect, little to no wait, and the service was terrific. I only wish I had found this spot sooner.

Greg Dee

This is a gem! A little piece of Paris right here on Hilton Head. Great, bright atmosphere with good coffee and classic Parisian desserts and breads. Come early in the morning to get some fresh french bread right out of the oven. Not only do they have the classic french bread but also some modern twists on the classic too.
