Read the reviews, this place is a must stop for anyone vacationing in Hilton Head. The owner is amazing as she explained all of what they offer. From croissants to brioches to macaroons to french bread they've got it all. Loved my chocolate Bluff and the wife loved her Kiss on the Beach. The environment is great with the Marina.
We were fortunate enough to find and visit the Hilton Head Social Bakery on our visit to the island. The store is quaint but beautiful with the array of fantastic pastries taking center stage. The owner was friendly and helpful and most importantly the pastries were absolutely delicious! This is one of those places where everything looks and sounds amazing and you want to try just about everything - trust me, if we lived nearby we would frequent this place and do just that. On top of the nice shop, amazing pastries and the friendly service the location is great - being located right on a marina with outdoor seating. Thanks and keep up the great work Hilton Head Social Bakery team!
Everything was absolutely magnificent!!
Absolutely delicious! Best desserts I've ever had
Probably one of the best bakeries around if not the world. And that's no exaggeration. The quiche was delicious and the side salad, with arugula and spinach and homemade dressing, is to die for. Now to get to the fruit berry tart and tiramisu. The fruit was fresh and the custard was just sweet enough. The tiramisu was very good (I didn't taste lol that was my friend's choice). But the real difference was the server at the bakery. She was so nice and helpful and friendly. Stop by if you're in the area. It's worth it.
Fantastic little place right next to the harbor. Great old world charm, beautiful pastries and fantastic service.
Good coffee & coffee eclair. Would definitely go back.
Gluten free pastries are the best. Wonderful service. So glad they opened here.
The shop owner (?) of Nash Gallery recommended we try the Hilton Head Social Bakery, a French bakery. Not to be confused with another place called The French Bakery & European Cuisine, which I have not tried yet. I have to thank her for the recommendation. We ordered a loaf of French bread right out of the oven, strawberry-rhubard chocolate bar, and the Saint Honore pastry with caramel. I have to say the baker, Philippe Feret makes EXCELLENT whipped cream. The pastries are wonderful and not overly sweet. If you love bakeries YOU MUST COME HERE!! The Saint Honore pastry is the best. Go to Hilton Head Social Bakery.
This place is fantastic. I highly recommend it .
Fantastic customer service, helped making surprising our parents for their 40th a huge success, and the cake tasted amazing.
Best on the island hands down
best chocolate on hilton head
Friendly staff, yummy food, beautiful day!
Fantastic coffee, French pastries, quiche, salad and other yummy offerings. And the service is fast and friendly! We only had two days left on HHI when we discovered the Hilton Head Social Bakery, but still managed to stop by three times before departing. Each time we had delicious coffee and food. They have a cozy little outdoor seating area with a beautiful view of the marina. If you're on HHI, don't miss this place!
Very good selection of treats. We had the Chocolate Bluff, Napolean, Mango something, and an assortment of cookies. Very delicious! We'll be back to try the quiche for lunch.
Best croissants and chocolate croissants they are so flakery and buttery they 'sing' impressive desserts and pastries Gluten free selection
Highly recommend this bakery. The baker even let my daughter go in the back and tour! Super authentic French bakery. Will def come back!
Little pricy but worth it
Best bakery in town... Love it Je le recommande fortement, emplacement magnifique!
This bakery is AMAZING! Had a stuffed bagette and a chocolate almond croissant....You don't want to miss this place! Easy to find, park near the Trident statue and walk towards it, make a right.
Amazing place with unique desserts. Great for lunch too. Friendly service and great place for conversation.
It's all good :)
Fantastic experience and pastries!!! The owner was very patient as we took FOREVER to decide what we wanted! He explained all of the pastries we were interested in and helped us decide. Everything was delicious, fresh, light, sweet but not too sweet, just amazing! We came here to get a special treat to celebrate our anniversary and were not disappointed! Highly recommend!!!
This is the real deal - as good as Paris or NYC. French pastries and all things related. Can't believe it is in Hilton Head. AWESOME!!!!
So many amazing treats to choose from! And so delicious! The coffee was really good as well.
Authentic French deliciousness!
Great French bakery.
Great Coffee, delicious pastries.
Friendly Staff, excellent French bakery!
Fantastic, authentic french bakery. Pastries and coffee were delicious. The owner was super friendly and gracious for us stopping by. If you're reading this wondering whether you should go, GO AND BE HAPPY YOU DID!
My husband & I recently spent a week vacationing in Hilton Head and on one particular night I was craving something sweet (I’m 5 months pregnant so the craving was real! Lol!) So after researching local dessert spots, we decided to check this place out. Man, did it live up to its review & expectation! So good! I ordered the Chocolate Bluff & Berry Tart and both were delicious! I also ordered a decaf coffee since I’m the type that loves dessert & coffee together. The coffee to me wasn’t super impressive but that may be because I’m used to regular coffee & only now drink decaf because I’m pregnant. It was what I would expect from black, no frills coffee though. The service was also great! Upon walking into the store, we were greeted by a warm, friendly cashier who quickly helped us & got our order boxed up. The location was also great! Right by the water nestled in between a lot of cute little restaurants & shops. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy but I’ll definitely be back next time we’re on the island!
Amazing!
Fill of sinful treats including gluten free items. Ask for a recommendation, they will not disappoint.
Incredible desserts, great variety of baked goods, super friendly staff! Bought a lava cake, a pastry called a Kiss on the Beach (chocolate mousse and raspberry mascarpone on a hazelnut macaron) as well as some financiers and chocolate chip cookies. Everything was wonderful! The owner was so kind and warm. She even gave me advice about how to stay safe on the bike paths and fretted that she couldn't spare enough baked goods to send something home for all 13 of my family members on vacation with me. She was as sweet as her delicious pastries!
Fantastic, authentic french bakery. Pastries and coffee were delicious. The owner was super friendly and gracious for us stopping by. If you're reading this wondering whether you should go, GO AND BE HAPPY YOU DID!
Decent food. Didn't like the fact a worker sneezed in his hands and continued to handle food.
Wow wow wow this was awesome. I used to live in Europe and really missed the wonderful pastry. I had the almond croissant and my sister had the chocolate one. They were both amazing, flaky delicious. The lady that waited on us Thursday afternoon was delightful and made us a great cup of coffee.
We found them on vacation this past week. Absolutely wonderful food and pastries, the chocolate croissants are fabulous.
Extremely talented baker, absolutely first-rate
Great bread and pastries. Hard to find but worth the effort!
Truly amazing. Real French bakery in HHI.
This is a jewel on the island!! SO GOOD. If you know anything about real artisan pastries, you can truly appreciate this place! My personal favorite is the chocolate almond crossiant. It is truly the best pastry I’ve ever had!! Can’t say enough good about this place.
Being raised in Europe a majority of my youth and remembering the times I’d walk with my Grandfather to the bakery in France every morning, this definitely hit a spot for me in my heart. The smells and tastes brought me back. We had family with us on our visit to Social and combined we spent close to $150 and tried some of everything and it was all excellent and spot on. This was authentic hands down.
We are visiting HHI from Washington DC. This is hands down the BEST spot on the island. The lunch and dessert we had today was absolutely amazing! Highly recommend.
Great atmosphere. Amazing food and coffee.
Truly some of the best pastries I have ever had.. you can tell the difference in the flavors. The roasted vegetable tart is my favorite comes with a wonderful salad. I also picked up some goodies for friends. Had the strawberry tart that a friend gave me earlier in the week..Not too sweet or heavy. Artistry and flavor at its best. Thank You Philipe for choosing Hilton Head.
Worth going off my diet for this bakery! You'd have to go to Paris or New York to get pastries this good! The chef is French and comes with a long list of impressive credentials. He is as kind and social as he is talented. What a pleasure! The bakery is immaculate. I ate dessert first: the best Napolian I have ever had. Then enjoyed the roasted veggie with feta quiche. Incredible buttery crust! Then a croissant that melted in my mouth. Yes, this is indeed as good as it gets this side of the Atlantic. Can't wait to go back! You can sit outside and enjoy the harbor view, or inside. And they're open Sundays!
Wonderful French pastries. Made to visits in one day. Coffee and a cinnamon roll so fresh and melts in your mouth. Dessert later in the day was a fruit tart with custard filling. Large enough for two people. Fresh fruit with smooth buttery custard. This is a must splurge!
Excellent food.
To great for words
The best crossoint I have ever had.
We went looking for creme brulee, and the chef suggested the key lime tart with brulee top. It's amazing!!
Pastry was yummy. The lady working the counter was super.
Amazing bakery!!!!! My mother and I came in and spent $60.00 there totally worth it. Recommend 100% 5 stars 10/10. They're so friendly and kind at the bakery. We're from New Jersey and there are no good French bakery's up there. Don't waste your time at the French bakery near Krogers (there not really French), but at Hilton head social bakery they're authenticity French in every way!!!! Love this place!!!!!
Delicious savory and sweet treats!
What a find. We were just bicycling around Shelter Cove, when we found this place. Veggie stuffed baguettes, quiches an wonderful salads are large enough to share. Price was very fair for the food received. It proved to be one of our favorite finds.
Authentic French pastries in an iconic seeing
This spot was one of the highlights of our trip. We found it by the good reviews online and stopped for lunch. Our family of 4 had lunch first—croissant sandwiches and the most amazing hot dog I have ever seen! And then...dessert. To be honest, the desserts aren’t cheap, but they are sooo worth it. We each had something different, and none of us went wrong with our selection. Between edible gold leaf and traditional French style baking, it felt like we were sitting in a cafe in Paris.
Unbelievable selection of the most delicious pastries breads and sandwiches and breakfast items all beatifully and artfull presentation.
This is the best bakery on the island! The pastries are amazing! We love the chocolate almond croissant. Best thing ever!
Excellent croissant and pain au raisins. Many other things looked delicious as well.
Fantastic European bakery! We tried the banana bread pudding and cranberry walnut shortbread cookies. The desserts were not overly sweet like American bakeries, the cookies were crisp nicely with plenty of cranberries and walnuts. The bread pudding was moist and flavorful. We also enjoyed a cup of coffee with our pastries very nice. We bought a baguette loaf to take home to enjoy with baked brie and I couldn't wait to try it, it was so fresh...I broke off piece to enjoy with the rest of my coffee and it was so absolutely delightful, crisp on the outside and perfectly moist on the inside. True European bakery! My new favorite local bakery!
Amazing baked goods!!
This is not a Gluten Free and Vegan bakery. They are very misleading! Not a breakfast venue. Full of cookies and sweet treats.
Delicious gluten free Kiss on the Beach delight. Will definitely be back. The staff is also very friendy as well.
Philippe has created quite the bakery here on Hilton Head Island. This is my third visit to HH and this is my favorite of the three bakeries I have tried. During our stay we had ordered a custom birthday cake for my cousin. This usually requires 24hr notice, but Philippe went out of his way to make the best cake we have ever had in just a few hours. We went back the next day for lunch and pastries and were again blown away by the food and the phenomenal service. Very nice shaded place to have lunch on the water. Thank you for the experience.
Great performance. Candice Glover gave a masterful performance as Candy. Enjoyed it, as usual!
Best bakery on Hilton Head hands down
Fantastic food and pantries!
I live nearby and love to come here for coffee and the yummiest pastry. The have a hook to secure my dog to and offer non-sugar cookies for dogs. Great spot to relax at.
The bakery items are top notch. We had the chocolate tart with 24k gold flake. It was to die for. Stop in and have a tasty treat today!
Terrible disappointment! We were thrilled to find the bakery last week and felt terrible that they opened the week before the hurricane. We tried several case pastries which were fair so we had high hopes that Pierre and his team would turn out a good birthday cake. He assured my husband that he was friends with Francois Payard our favorite French pastry shop in Manhattan. We were assured that they could make any cake but didn't get any direction toward their specialties. I had shared that a cassatta cake was my husbands favorite but didn't get a positive response so we ordered a standard 6" white cake with pastry cream and raspberries in a vanilla buttercream (surprisingly this was a $45 cake) I picked up the cake ~2:45 on 12/27 my husbands birthday and noticed that the box felt damp but I dismissed it as moisture from the cooler. When I opened the cake to serve I noticed that it was indeed wet inside the box and when we cut the cake it also was wet. We tasted the cake which I still hoped would be salvageable but it was surprisingly tasteless and visibly wet - I could only presume that it had sat in a wet tray in the cooler or had been somehow frozen and reconstituted in a pathetic manner. I will try to upload photos I brought the cake to Pierre the following day to alert him to the problem. He asserted that the sponge was intentionally soaked in syrup and was indeed as they intended to prepare the cake. I will not return.
Excellent croissants and pastries.
Just the most authentic French food this side of the USA. Perfect each time we go. You have got to go support this family owned restaurant.
Lovely food, charming ambience, fantastic service, delectable selection!
I've been here for 4 days now and tried a different coffee shop every day ....this place by far knows how to make a rich, velvet latte. Should've bought 2! Superb ! Chocolate croissant was delicious.
The place is beautiful and the chef is a genius.
My newly wed wife and I are staying on an air b&b boat in the cove, and decided to go find something to eat. Little did we know, we'd find this outstanding bakery just feet from where we are lodging! Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and delicious options. Can't wait to go back!
Very friendly workers and tasty treats! Some of the treats seemed a little pricey, but I'm not familiar with usual bakery pricing.
One of my favorite places on the island for coffee!
Incredible experience. Fantastic service and food
Fabulous brioche and croissants. Best coffee on island. Incredible low sugar muffins. They even have savory items for lunch or crepes for dinner. Don't miss.
Yummy!
Beautiful and tasty quiche & tarts...the best I've tasted
We were there in August 2016 and can't wait to come back. This place is just fabulous. The owners Philippe and Marissa are so welcoming and nice to be around. We are coming down from Pennsylvania again this Spring just to taste the pastries . Philipe Feret has a unique following, he is a world renown Master Chef, originally from France. His father was a baker to the President of France and Philippe learned his trade from him, taking on a unique style of his own. His shop is his own creation including all the handmade furniture and cabinetry. He is a true artist in every sense of the word. His pastries are so special and delicious, each one is a work of art. I also heard he is now serving breakfast which we can’t wait to try. If you haven’t tried it I highly suggest a visit, it is a one in a million experience for a real connoisseur of all fine things!!
Absolutely amazing, as good as we enjoyed in Paris!
Fantastic every single time. The worst part is trying to decide what to order, but everything is great.
I am a huge fan of croissants and this is the best I’ve ever had by a long shot! Their flavored croissants were great, but please for the love of everything order a plain butter croissant and it will change your life! I live a two hour drive away and am constantly fighting urges to drive down just for them! Their locations is also spectacular as they’re right on a marina surrounded by beautiful, enormous yachts! I had a very lovely and quiet breakfast sitting on a bench enjoying breathtaking food and views!
Located on the harbor side of Shelter Cove Marina, the bakery is found once you park in the lot across the plaza and walk past the huge maritime sculpture toward the water. I was curious about its strange name until we entered the bakery snuggled in along the marina next to a seafood restaurant. Bakery: delicious display of breakfast, lunch and dessert items, plus self-serve coffee bar. I can personally attest to the mouthwatering blueberry tart and banana bread pudding. Must return to try the breakfast quiche and grab a pastry-wrapped veg and meat-filled lunch treasure for the beach cooler. Social Inside: friendly staff and warm cozy displays to make foodies rejoice. Social Outside: long shaded counters with bar-height stools facing the harbor make this a spot to sit, sip and savor peaceful water views
Delicious tarts, croissants and desserts! Super friendly - went in with my entire family (3 large boys
Amazing true French bakery! I feel like I'm back in France, the bread, the pastries and the creativity is awesome! They also do some amazing French specialties such as "Fougasse" which you can eat for lunch. Also Experience a true French King Cake "Galette Des Rois"! My friends loved it and it is a great French tradition!
Phillipe and his staff are the best. Great food, atmosphere and view. You will not be disappointed.
Super cool place. Baker is French and grew up baking. Bread had great crumb and crust. Pastry was excellent! Authentic breads and pastries with great service. Will be back for sure!
Best pastries on the island
Nothing compares to this excellent French bakery! A Must stop if you are passing through South Carolina. Best croissant my family has had since 30 years ago in Paris!
The croissants were the best we have EVER had (and we're fussy). We got a key lime creme brulee, a raspberry tart, coffee, americano and croissants. The textures, flavors and temperatures of everything were spot on. The croissant was what my husband and I can't stop talking about. The flakey, crunchy, delicate balance there... we honestly never have had one done to this perfection. We got a third to take home and share with family. How we've been in Hilton Head for 20 years and not come here yet is a true loss for us. We will now be making this a favorite. We met the chef who was just as hospitable as he was skilled in the kitchen. The whole staff really. Choosing to come here made the difference in our morning and week. A million stars. Anyone who can perfect and appreciate the most humble croissant is worth noting and sitting at their table.
Excellent expeience ! The viennoiseries and pastries do compare favorably with the best French "pâtisseries". We discovered Hilton Head Social Bakery by chance and went back every single day till we left the area. Highly recommend !
The workers and chef is so kind and very welcoming
My wife and I ordered 4 different things. Everything was great. Owner took time to explain each item and gave our 1 year old a cookie. A must visit on your trip.
Great assortment of wonderful pastries!
It is a must stop. All desserts options are amazing, you can't go wrong.
Great bakery with terrific location and pleasing views. Very friendly staff and owner. You will not be disappointed. You must try the croissants. Better than my favorite NYC bakery.
Was excellent...was greated at the door with a smile..had a great conversation with the woman that worked there and she was very knowledgeable about the island and wanted to make sure I had a great experience.. the owner by far is top notch..went out of his way for my son's bday and made him a custom one of a kind desert with his name on it ..very thankful ...this buisness is by far my favorite and will be sure to come back..needs more than 5 stars
The photo can describe better than my words
I love this place! Sitting outside and enjoying perfect cappuccino!
My wife and I stopped in for a late night dessert. The owner was graciously patient as we tried to make a selection, which was difficult because everything looked amazingly good. We're heading back again tonight for more!
Superb desserts!
This bakery is as good as it gets. Very fair prices for the quality and portions. Delicious baked goods and wonderful more savory options, too.
Even at closing time the food and coffee was SUPER delicious and fresh! The croissants are to die for!! The owners are wonderful and kind as well. The ambiance is so perfect and calm, my husband and I sat with our child enjoying our sweets with a view of boats and live jazz music
First time here, I normally go to Carolina Cupcakes, but the vibe in there is very negative..Hilton Head Social Bakery was warm and inviting and the blueberry muffins are delicious
Warm and inviting ambiance. Selection is remarkable from savory to sweet with beautiful, classy presentation. Would recommend a cappacino sweetened with artisan made macaron while enjoying a beautiful sunset on the veranda overlooking the Shelter Cove Marina.
I rarely leave reviews, but this place is wonderful. I've spent some time in France, and it's hard to find pastries elsewhere that measure up. This bakery more than measures up, and the coffee is great, too!
Spectacular! We were passing through the area with a one night hotel stop nearby and found this place. Everything was marvelous. We tried the freshly baked savory breakfast breads as well as the pastries and everything was delicious! We enjoyed it so much we stopped by a week later on our way back up north. The baguettes are as good as you will find in Paris and the pastries are even better. We tried: cinnamon rolls, palmiers, linzer cookies, apple tarts, fresh fruit tart, meringue, croissants, french baguette, onion rolls, and the napoleons - all amazing. We definitely plan on going again the next time we head south and I can't wait to try some of the other pastries. This place is a trip to Paris without the expense and the long plane ride!
Ordered cold brew and it tasted like water. We had the barista remake it and noticed it was store bought, prepackaged cold brew that she then proceeded to tear open with her mouth. Got a different type of drink and still was almost flavorless. Editing my review to add that the owner did not respond to the fact that the cold brew container was opened with the employee's MOUTH. Yes, the latte was made after the cold brew which we all ended up throwing out because it was so tasteless and bland. Going back to request yet a third drink seemed like a waste of time as the two drinks we previously ordered were less than subpar.
