Was surprised at the amount of customers waiting in line. Seemed like the place to be. I bought a few different baked goods. Slice of cake, scone, macaroons. Everything was good but nothing really stood out or blew me away.

I’m not from Sumter, but I’ve been coming here since I was aiuto 12 years old (2002). Every time I come to visit family, I make a mandatory trip here to get some red velvet cookies and the strawberry shortcake. I dabble in some other sweets as well, but the red velvet cookies and strawberry shortcakes are a MUST.

Very nice bistro. Has a selections of cakes, cheesecakes and muffins. Good coffee, a bit more expensive than it should be though. Also is a restaurant and has many options, salads, sandwiches and entrées. Food is really good and prices are very reasonable with large portions. Tios: try the spunky monkey coffee and food wise, try fried trio for appetizers.

What a great local bakery! It's hard to resist all their wonderful baked goods, like the orange cranberry muffins, even though I usually go to get coffee. Their coffee selection is great, not only of drinks they can make you but all their beans of various roasts to pick from. They'll even grind it for you! My favorite, by far, is their Cinnadoodle, it has a fantastic and unique flavor January edit: I went in and tried their awesome kitchen menu! They've got a ton of delicious breakfast items, but will also fix you up a hamburger and fries too if you want that in the morning. I got a bowl of cheese grits topped with bacon and eggs, and it was a wholesome filling meal.

So I've been a few times. I will admit the food is always very good. The bakery is good. The coffee shop hot drinks are not very good but the frozen stuff is fantastic. I would love to love this place but twice we went for breakfast and received terrible service. They also don't tell you that they open early but their serving staff isn't there until about an hr after opening. So we stopped in and we're told we wouldn't be served for an hour.

One of my favorite bakeries here in Sumter S.C. I visit this place at least once a week. All of their deserts are awesome! They also offer a good selection of coffee and smoothie drink items as well. If you are in the area I definitely recommend

Usually I am such a fan of Bakers Sweets, but lately I have been a little dissatisfied. I don't know if management has changed or what, but everytime I go in there now they are out of every thing. I like their peanut butter cake, and my husband likes their Red Velvet and Carrot Cake. Sometimes we buy the whole cake and sometimes we buy by the slice. I was told today to come earlier, but unfortunately works stops me from being able to stop by until around 5-6pm, but they don't close until 8 so I don't see why that should be an issue. This has been my 5th visit in the last month with the same issue, even the ladie behind me wanted Red Velvet. Maybe I will have to start special ordering or something!

My Sweetheart and I stopped here for lunch after a recommendation. We had a great time. I can’t remember the exact name of the burger but it was a blue cheese bbq burger. WOW! Probably the best I’ve ever had. We also had the frozen Spunky Monkey. Honestly I’m moving to Florida from Charleston this weekend but if I wasn’t I would travel from Charleston to Sumter just for this! Thank you Miranda for taking care of us. Everything was great!

I now live in WV, but whenever I'm back in town, I make it a point to treat myself to their coffee. I usually get the spunky monkey and it is really good! I didn't think I'd like the banana flavor, but I love it because it isn't overwhelming. Can't seem to find anything with this exact flavor where I live now. I highly recommend going just for their coffee. I can't speak for the food because I haven't had any. The staff are very friendly and prices are reasonable. I'll be going back again when I'm in town :)

Definitely a place to consider. Desserts are something between sweet and very sweet. But good. My wife loved the fresh and tasty omelet with fresh vegetables. Seemed to be one of the best she had so far. Only point I do not support is the freezing AC running. Stop by, check and enjoy!

One of my favorite places to meet my friends for coffee/breakfast. They have the best bakery items, delicious gourmet coffee, and yummy breakfast dishes. They have a southern menu and everything is made fresh. Relaxed casual atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. They also do catering and make cakes for your special events. My favorite treats are their muffins!!!

Cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff. Short wait time even though it was a bit crowded. Please try the spicy bacon flat bread. Gave 4 stars because the serving of fries was very small. I tried the coconut cake it was okay however it wasn't too sweet which I liked. It felt like it weighed a ton, it's a more dense cake than light.

We ordered a truffle cake for my sister in laws birthday. It was delicious. She used to make cakes for people so she is very picky about cakes and she loved this cake. It was very moist and smooth. The chocolate melted in your mouth. It is my favorite cake that they make now.

Oh, such decadence! Most of my visits were before I was diagnosed with diabetes. They have cakes, cookies, luncheon dishes, excellent barristas, & a fantastic ambience. My mother-in-law was a gifted Baker. Awesome cakes & cookies. But Baker's Sweets beats her best 9 ways to Sunday!!! We just don't tell her. Now, I can just look at all the goodies, & remember how awesome everything is. Then I go get a double tall latte with 3 pumps of Sugar Free vanilla, and those are SO good, my sweet tooth is happy, & I leave smiling. The awesome staff wave goodbye, until the next time.

Enjoyed a pleasant lunch there today with friends. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was delicious. Our waitress was friendly and kept our beverage glasses full. We also had the lemon tart for dessert- it was delicious. Such a hard decision to select just one dessert when everything looked and smelled so delicious. Definitely going to return there soon!

The service was excellent; Eric was so nice and went way out of his way; as I had to place an order by phone for my 102 year old mother for Valentine's day. He could not have been more accommodating; as we are sending her chocolate covered with decorative red; strawberries. I will post a picture soon! Sumter is very fortunate to have such a nice bakery; especially the staff. I have been there for treats and coffee my self and their treatment is fabulously wonderful.

Baker's Sweets is a charming local bakery that produces an amazing assortment of cakes, pastries, and other deserts. They take mass orders or you could just grab a quick slice from the glass. They also serve coffee and teas. In addition, they have a restaurant area that serves more than just deserts, but I haven't explored the menu enough to give y'all a proper opinion on it yet. Dinged this place one star only for how busy it gets and how slow the wait time can tend to be. The store isn't large which leads to a cramped atmosphere occasionally. But don't let that stop you from giving these amazing deserts a chance, just visit in the slow hours!

I've been going here a lot over the past few years and something recently has changed to where this gem of a restaurant is slipping away to mediocrity. The pastries I have purchased recently are dry. The selection has shrunk compared to a few years ago. I normally get a "Cinnabon muffin" and red velvet cake along with a spunky monkey. Even the ingredients to make the specialty coffee are not available sometimes. The food is okay, although the level of salt and seasoning varies every time. The wait staff are hard working and friendly.

This is one of my most fave spots to visit when getting something for a special occasion or just a treat for myself. The staff are helpful, polite and friendly. The variety of baked goods can be overwhelming on your first visit but once you try them you will be hooked. In addition to the regular baked muffins, cookies, pastries, cakes,and pies, the baker's develop several new flavor combinations to try each time you go in to visit. Their coffee menu is creative and tasty. The shop also sells house- made casseroles, squash pie, sweet potato casserole, and more. If that were not enough, the bistro stays busy serving delicious salads, sandwiches, and soups (and desserts, of course). Overall, one will have a very nice experience whether dining in or take out.

Love the burgers and fries here. Ask for the 1089 sauce if you like a little kick. The Palmetto cheese dip is my favorite thing ever, and the deserts are awesome. It's a great lunch spot with the girls. I don't think I've tried anything that I didn't like (Well maybe the red velvet cookie that was dry). You won't be disappointed!

Ever since moving to Sumta, I’ve been hearing about Baker’s Sweets. I’m not sure what all the hype is as this place is mediocre and WAY overpriced. I got my kids a cinnamon bun and myself a large coffee to go for the low price of $8 and some change. I wish I would have just got the 10 pack of Little Debbie's Cinnamon buns for $1.99 — guarantee they taste better too.

Food is excellent.......BUT they are extremely, consistently understaffed in the watressing. Everytime i've visited with the wife we usually have a debate on eating their for breakfast or going somewhere else. So ill simply say if you intend to pick up some coffee or sweets, go for it. But a quick breakfast in the restaurant area.....not gonna happen. Expect long waits between ordering, being served and especially getting your check. Hire more staff!

I have been coming for dine in and also getting baked goods from this location for 10 years now and while sometimes something is off, generally the baked items are so good it doesn’t matter what is off. The muffins could stand to be cooked in a different manner, but they still taste great. The cakes are my favorite and I have never had a bad piece from here. Most of my dine in experiences have been perfect too. My only recommendations are these; clean the vents and fans everywhere including the bathrooms (gross) and get some bike racks and outdoor seating for the warmer weather months to promote walking and bike riding. I highly recommend this one and in Lake City!

We decided to take a Saturday drive from Florence to Sumter and are so happy that we found this gem!! My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our coffee drinks(what a great assortment of coffee)! We also had cheesecake and cookies....wow!! Five stars is not a high enough rating. We want to come again for breakfast, which looks phenomenal. We stopped in while on vacation. Lunch for two adults and 3 kids, plus two desserts, was about $42. The Mac and cheese was creamy and gooey (in a good way), the turkey and avocado sandwiches were substantial without being overstuffed, and the soups were fantastic - I had kale-sausage with potato dumplings and my husband had loaded baked potato and hey were equally good. I would highly recommend this for a relaxing lunch if you’re in Sumter, SC!

We were visiting relatives in Sumter, and they brought us here to pick out some sweet treats. We filled a box with delicious goodies that delighted the whole family. My favorites that I sampled were the Strawberry cake, which had a layer of strawberry jam and the oreo brownie. Everything was beautifully made. Very disappointed! We came for breakfast. Our waitress didn't take our order for almost 15 minutes. Our breakfast took 25 minutes to come out. 4 out of 6 breakfasts were cold. Then I had to request our bill in order to pay. Usually this restaurant is good, today was very disappointing! ☹️

Cake was amazing I ordered a German chocolate cake for a birthday it came out great. I ordered an iced mocha coffee with almond milk while I was there for $8.40 I thought It would be a little better. Coffee tasted burnt and it really just tasted like pure chocolate syrup. I took a menu with me I have heard great things about their food, so I will give some of the salads a try.

An amazing place to stop by for a sweet treat, caffeinated drink, or a sit down breakfast! I have stopped here multiple times and tried an array of they baked goods and have yet to find something less than mouth watering. I enjoy their breakfast menu and my friend loves their burgers. The staff is always nice and willing to answer questions about their treats. I've been during busy and slow moments and the service is always at a good pace. It's cozy and the hours are great for stopping by before work or an evening coffee date.
