Amazing bread

We got a few desserts from the case as well as a glazed popover type bread. They were all delicious! The women behind the counter was very friendly and answered all of our questions as well as dinner recommendations in the immediate area (as we had mentioned we were new to RI). We will definitely be back again.

I've driven by this bakery so many times, but never really noticed it until this week after dark when the lights highlighted the pastry cases from the streets. This place offers so many local traditions like Portuguese biscuits to yummy mini cheesecakes. Prices are reasonable. Bar seats are available. Only one employee was working so the wait was a long time and she wasn't so friendly. Atmosphere is ok, I don't think I'd choose to sit and eat here, more a grab and go. My cookie was really good, I'm sure I'll be back if in the area again!

They have the BEST LEMON SQUARES! My mother and I have been here numerous time for their lemon squares and its not like we live around the corner from this bakery. We travel 60 miles round trip for our favorite lemon squares!

Came here after a friend from out of state recommended their Portuguese sweet bread. Now whenever I attend family gatherings, I get several requests to bring loaves and goodies from Silver Star Bakery. Excellent place with a pleasant variety of pastries, cookies, and miscellaneous items.

We used to get bread here almost everyday for a month and that's how both my wife and I started having stomach issues. I felt nauseated for days and as soon as we stopped eating the bread from Silver Star everything went back to normal. I think this might be caused by the overuse of baking soda, but that's just a guess. I am, nonetheless, giving the bakery three starts because their pastry is really good.

On a walk through Wayland Square this weekend I figured I would pop my head into Silver Star Bakery. It’s an unassuming little storefront so I hadn’t gone in before, but I’m glad I finally did. Why? The loaf of multigrain bread I got here beats anything I’d find at the supermarket! Never have I been happier to forget to buy bread earlier this week. The multigrain bread is a nice, hearty, loaf that holds up well for sandwiches or toast. I kept it simple while I was there and only got the bread, but they also had beautiful looking Portuguese treats—everything from bubbly and crisp pasteis de nata to a mini orange cake (maybe some variant of bolo de laranja?) I’ll be back soon for more bread, and to try some of their sweets!

A cute small bakery. Fast service. Seems to be newly redone. Good pastéis. Even better bakery pizza. People tend to just pop in for an order to go but there are a few nice bar seats facing the outdoors Seems to only be one woman working here but she's quick and doesn't stop working.

Service was good. But no restroom for customers, too small to sit down, no tables available but a small bar area, and no grill for breakfast sandwiches. Pastry selection was varied but what I ordered was pretty stale tasting. Empanadas were small and lacking flavor. Didn't buy any fresh bread, so not sure what the taste is there. Just an average bakery to get your fresh bread. Not ideal for a sit down breakfast.

This is a great bakery with fresh Portuguese sweet bread! They have a wide selection of pastries and other breads. I highly recommend you stop by if you are in the area.

Their fresh hot rolls every Sunday morning, everything is made fresh their pastries are tasty. I've been coming here for over 30 years. And very friendly.
