We had The Flour Child make our wedding cake. The price was the best that we found around here, and the quality could not be better! The cake looked exactly like we pictured it (the icing looked like birch bark with our initials carved into it), and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great, but reasonably priced cake for any occasion!

Alixe was super fun and personable. She made us feel welcome and at home immediately. Her personality meshed with ours and we just clicked. Professional, efficient and just all around great at getting to what you want even if you don't know what you want. Cake was moist and delicious and the ingredients used are fresh and real so it was awesome. Can't recommend enough!

We absolutely loved out desserts. We had a whole dessert bar and every person at the wedding got something they loved! The whole process was super easy, from tasting to booking to wedding day. Alixe was friendly and accommodating, she really made the whole process that much better. To top it off, everything was delicious! There was not one thing I didn't like, and even my non-cake loving husband was in love. Everything was perfect, I would absolutely recommend this awesome little bakery. Affordable, delicious, easy to work with...win!

I can't even begin to express how awesome of an experience it was to work with Alixe from The Flour Child! She was recommended to us by our venue (The Cameron Estate Inn) and I'm so glad she was! Her cake is delicious (moist, just the right amount of sweetness, mouth-watering) and she is SUCH a sweetheart. Our cake tasting with her was so much fun. I brought my mom and we literally couldn't stop eating haha! She was very easy to communicate with and answered all of my questions promptly. She has a great working relationship with the Cameron Estate Inn which meant I really didn't have to get involved much as she knew exactly what she needed to do! I was literally blown away with how beautiful my cake looked the day of the wedding, what a wonderful surprise! I think her cost is extremely reasonable (we honestly thought the cost would be a lot more!). I would definitely recommend her to others. Thank you again Alixe from the bottom of my heart!!!

What an amazing experience from beginning to end. My entire order was placed over the phone from NY with the staff’s help based on my ideas. All payments were made on-line via their easy payment system. Lastly and most importantly, the finished product looked and tasted AMAZING!! You guys are now my PA/MD bakery of choice! Went for a cake tasting for our upcoming wedding. Had been to other "tastings" and consults which were super awkward and even had one place tell me they refused to do business with us because our wedding is on the smaller side. (About 75 invited) But we came into this little shop, Alixe kindly reaaragned our appointment at short notice due to my work schedule changing. We ended up only being able to come in an hour before they closed. It was a little hard to determine which building was theirs, but after finally seeing cakes in the display windows we knew where to go. We were offered complimentary water, coffee, tea, and sat down with one of the bakers and she explained how they do their cakes, and gave us some photos to look at while she put together our cakes to test. She came back with 4 HUGE cupcakes, 4 dollops of icing, and 2 fillers. We had chosen the flavors online when we scheduled our consult. We LOVE sweets haha so the look on my fiancee's face was priceless when he saw all the cake we got to try! Most other places give you a bite of cake of 2 or 3 flavors. Which is fine. But these guys really go above and beyond. And it was so cute too, all arranged nicely on cute plates etc. It just felt special. We decided on style and flavors and consulted with her again while she wrote down what we said we wanted. We really wanted a classic 3-tier cake but with the small amt of guests, they suggested we do the bottom 2 rounds fake cake, that they decorate with our little cake on top real for us, and then they would make enough cakes for our guests to be cut and served in the back that wouldn't have to be part of the show. Such a relief to be doing business with someone who understands what customers want and is flexible enough to make that happen! We received our invoice quickly and decided (as if it was a question) to book with tfc. We couldn't resist leaving the cute little shop without some sweets to take home (the cakes really are that good) I even came back the following week to pick up some more cupcakes! I can't wait to add to this review after our wedding but I'm certain everything will go smoothly and will taste delicious!

Been eating since she opened and Alixe has been nothing short of amazing. I used her for over a dozen events and the cakes and cupcakes have been nothing short of amazing. What I loved best is her out of the box thinking and adventurous decorating. Everything I have thought of she has created. Now that I am getting married I didn't even bother looking elsewhere. If you are short on design ideas she has a flickr page full of the cakes they have done the past few years. Keep up the great work ladies!!!

I had the red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing. Icing was good, but cake was dry and lacked flavor. The 2 women working were less than friendly, borderline rude. Wouldn't go out of my way to go here again.

Had our wedding cake and cupcakes made here and just picked up our anniversary cake. They were so great through the entire process and we are still hearing about how great the cupcakes were a year later. The cookies are also delicious, and the trash cakes are one of my favorites too. I haven't had something I don't like.

Can't say enough good things about The Flour Child! We get 3 cakes a year from them, one for me, my wife, and my daughter. We've gotten to the point of just emailing a couple pictures and giving flavor/icing choices and just saying "do you thing!" They always come out great and they aren't priced bad for how wonderful they are. I've attached my favorite we've gotten over the years, a Chewbacca cake for my daughter's birthday! Will be back again and then again.

Working with the flour child was so awesome!! We went there for our first cake tasting session ever. Everything was planned perfectly, they had us fill out an online menu to try different cakes and icing, and they had it all set up when we went in for our scheduled tasting. The food was great! They kept in contact with me quite often leading up to the day of the wedding, it was set in three easy installments for payment, they delivered, and even came back in the afternoon during the reception to pick up the cake stand I rented so I wouldn’t have to worry about taking it back. While the woman was there picking up the cake stand, she boxed up our cake for my wife and I to take home. Would completely recommend the flour child for everyone! Awesome business, awesome food, definitely worth your money and they make your big day stress free.

I totally recommend The Flour Child to do your wedding cake, or cupcakes! The tasting went very well and the lady who helped us design the cake was super helpful and patient because we were not 100% sure what we actually wanted. The cost was very reasonable and we even get a free cake on our anniversary! The cake was absolutely delicious and I would definitely buy another cake from here! Choosing The Flour Child to make your wedding cake will definitely make your wedding day better!

Owner and staff are excellent to deal with your pastry buying needs. We order @ least 6 cakes a year.. proof is in the pudding! Go to their FB page and find a "trash cake" day, then go get you one..

I went to visit The Flour Child because it came highly recommended from my wedding venue. When I arrived, the people were very curt and would hardly give any attention to myself and my family because I had not done a wedding consult online. Nonetheless, we bought sample cupcakes in order to test out the product. After completing the online consultation, I did not receive a response for a week and a half. By that time, I had already found another option. Taste does not matter if you do not have the entire customer service package.

My mom and I tried this bakery for the first time today and we were so impressed! Large selection and the gal behind the doubter was so friendly and knowledgeable! We tried a lemon ginger scone (yum!) and the fresh apple bundt cake (so so delicious and moist!!). Will definitely be back!

Alixe, owner of The Flour Child, is so bubbly and creative. She was recommended by our florist so we decided to just go for a trial. Oh my goodness, the cakes and frosting are amazing! It was really hard to narrow them down. Alixe allowed us to select 2 cakes, 2 frosting, and 2 fillings. We went with chocolate cake and cream cheese filling/frosting and vanilla cake with lemon merengue filling with vanilla frosting. They were both out of this world! Our guests really loved the cakes! Because of the hot weather, Alixe did a faux cake which worked perfectly. The rest of the cake was scored and ready to be served which made it easy for our food handlers. I highly recommend Alixe as she's truly talented at what she does. She arrived and set up promptly. You will not regret booking The Flour Child!

I used the Flour Child for my wedding. Our tasting experience was fantastic, with plenty of options to try from. We decided on cupcakes and each one had icing with a topping on it. We went with chocolate peanut butter (Reeses on top), vanilla and strawberry (strawberry on top), and pumpkin cream cheese (sprinkles on top). Each cupcake was to die for! I got so many compliments on how delicious they were. We ended up having only 7 left from the whole night! The planning process was made easy as well. They explain how the payment process works and what will work best for you. Super helpful. I highly recommend them for any event, or even just for a special treat!

I had a one year birthday cake made for my son, and they exceeded my expectations. The cake was delicious, very moist and delicious filling and frosting! I asked them to put a couple cars on it and they designed it so adorable with cars, a bus, truck etc around it. I will definitely be using this place again!

This place rocks!!!!! I ordered an 8inch cake for a special birthday party and since I live out of town, I was taking the suggesof a friend to try The Flour Child. I’m so glad I did. It’s a tiny almost hidden jewel of a place, but the baked goods are huge on taste and presentation. The cake was moist and flavorful, the chocolate ganache in the center was scrumptious , and even the frosting was remarkable. The staff were freidlt and efficient. Initially I thought I was crazy to spend 40 Dollars on a cake, but this is quality made from scratch edible art! I’d do it again in a minute.
