Amazing. And not just for a vegan bakery; their food is as good as any of the best non-vegan bakeries. If you want something custom, their work is gorgeous; they post photos on social media so you can see what it looks like. I picked up some vegan cannoli from them, and even the hardcore dairy-eaters who ate them were impressed, and said they wouldn't have known these were vegan if I hadn't told them.

Crust is one of my very favorite vegan bakeries in Philadelphia. I've been a vegan for 12 years and have eaten my share of vegan baked goods from Philadelphia bakeries and beyond. Crust's are outstanding!! Not overly sweet, a wide range of products, beautiful to look at, and just plain delicious!!! I have brought their cookies/brownies/bars to gatherings where people who are not vegan ask me where I got them because they are just so good that they want to buy them themselves. If you order in advance and pick up directly from the bakery, be prepared to be greeted on the phone and in person with a warm hello and a sincere desire to make customers happy. Very thankful that this bakery has joined the vibrant Philadelphia vegan scene--one in which the standards are high and Crust is in the very top tier.

My favorite bakery ever. As dairy free, I became obsessed with their cupcakes at Hip City Veg (miss them!!) I've bought cakes for my past 2 birthdays, for a baby shower (it was a huge hit!), a portrait cake of my pupper for his birthday...and have referred many others for cakes. Note this isn't a storefront, you have to order and pay ahead for cakes and then pick up or you can go to many places around Philly (like Grindcore House) to get your fix

Almost 3 years later and now they have me order extra to take home or to work . For a family reunion I ordered cupcakes and everyone loved them and couldn’t get over that they were vegan. Thankfully I squirreled one away for later although I should have hid more. You do have to order ahead of time, but it is definitely worth it!

The cake was super yummy! They were able to accommodate my order quickly even though it was shorter notice than they like. My only problem was that I got a deluxe topping for the cake and it only covered maybe half of the cake. If I would have known that it wouldn't cover the entire top of the cake I would have saved myself the $10. Would still come here again! I even have a piece of cake frozen for myself for a future sweet craving.

Love pastries from Crust! I get excited whenever I come across their delights in local restaurants and cafes. My omnivore husband loves them, too. Can't wait until they open a store front. Last year (or maybe 2017), they made special cannolis as a fund raiser so I had the opportunity to visit where the magic happens. What a great operation! And such friendly people. (Never felt unsafe in the neighbor and I'm a suburbanite.) And, WOW, those cannolis were great! Long live Crust!

I'm not full-on vegan myself — I'm vegetarian and always willing to go for the vegan option if there's one available — but my wife is very seriously lactose intolerant, so we needed a dairy-free-but-delicious dessert for our wedding. We reached out to Crust and got a cupcake tasting box, and as soon as we took our first bites, we knew we didn't have to look any further. We had them bake several dozen cupcakes for the wedding and were absolutely blown away by the taste, quality, professionalism, great communication, responsiveness... Everything you'd want in a bakery. You can really tell they put a lot of effort and care into the flavor and appearance of everything they make. If you need a dairy-free or vegan vendor for your special event, this is the place to go. And if you're at some cool event and you see them selling their stuff, give it a try! You won't be disappointed.

Crust made our wedding cake and it was divine! We went with a vanilla buttercream frosting, vanilla cake, and layers of fruit preserves on the inside. It was moist and delicious. Though my husband and I are vegan, 90% of our guests were not - they were completely blown away! Meagan was extremely organized, detail-oriented, and helpful throughout the entire process.

Crust is amazing! I’ve been a fan since they opened, so it was a no-brainer asking them to make my wedding cakes. My spouse and I aren’t big fans of traditional cakes, so we asked them to make us cheesecakes instead. They made nine, in three flavors: peanut butter and chocolate with peanut butter cups as decoration, plain with fruit preserves topping, and BAKLAVA CHEESECAKE (the whole thing is wrapped in a phyllo dough parcel and then covered in the syrup—AMAZING!). They even made a complimentary additional mini baklava cheesecake as a cutting cake! The first two flavors were gluten free, so my dad who has celiac disease was able to partake. He and my other family members are really picky about vegan food, since they are omnivores, but they all were blown away by how delicious the cheesecakes were and how according to them they didn’t taste vegan. I can’t recommend Crust enough for your every day vegan baked goods needs as well as for special occasions. Plus as an added bonus you get to support a woman-owned and woman-operated business! Hooray!

Everything they make is thoughtful, intentional, creative, and DELICIOUS. I've ordered cakes from Crust twice. The first time was several years ago for a co-worker's going away party. I was very impressed by the level of customer service I received and the food was excellent. So it should come as no surprise that when I needed a wedding cake for my wedding, there was only one bakery I wanted to go to. Yet again, Crust exceeded my expectations. Meagan was so helpful and communicative through the entire process. She responded to my questions very quickly and was full of useful feedback and tips. Their pricing was reasonable and highly competitive with other bakeries (vegan and non-vegan) in the area. When it came to our wedding day, there were some issues with the cake topper. Meagan went above and beyond to fix it for us (I literally had no idea there was a problem until after the wedding was over, she did that well). Our cake itself was incredible. I don't have the right adjectives for it because frankly it was so good that it belongs on a cosmic plane where words don't exist and everything is covered in sprinkles. People tell me it's the best cake they've had at a wedding, and I believe them because I know it's true. Because you can't top a Crust cake. Even the most unadventurous guests at my wedding who were very skeptical of a vegan cake were blown away by the cake. I also highly recommend their holiday pies and looking for their products throughout the city. Seriously call these ladies for all of your sugar needs. I promise you won't regret it. If you regret it, call me and I'll come take that cake right off your hands :)

We were so glad to have found Crust for our vegan wedding! The bakery that came with our caterer does not make vegan cakes, so I was very worried we'd have to compromise and not have a wedding cake! But no--Crust to the rescue!!! The flavors were great (we got almond cake with chai icing, and a chocolate with cookies and cream sheet cake to supplement as well). ***This review is copied from a review I left on Crust's Facebook page after my wedding in 2016. I still get their goodies from my local Co-Op all the time and all of the positive sentiment still stands!*** My partner and I recently organized our own small(ish) wedding ceremony and reception. We relied on our own creativity in putting together the décor and menu, but there was never any question that we wanted Crust Bakery to make our cake. By this point Crust had existed for a year or two, and their reputation for beautiful and delicious vegan goodies was already well-established. Shannon gave us great ideas and guidance in choosing the type of cake, and we ended up ordering a lemon and raspberry preserve cake with ‘cream cheese’ frosting. When our big day finally came around, we were speechless upon seeing what Shannon and the Crust folks had put together for us. It was beautiful – the kind of food-art that you’re ambivalent about eating because doing so would mean destroying an actual work of art. And yes, it tasted as good as it looked. Vegan cakes tend to be overly sweet to compensate for a dry texture, and our cake from Crust was both full of real, dynamic flavor and was moist (the weirdest word but apropos). It looked and tasted high-end, which made for a nice, fancy punctuation to our otherwise casual wedding. It’s also worth noting that both vegan and non-vegan guests alike were inhaling Crust’s creation. Many of our non-vegan family member remarked that they wouldn’t have known they were eating a non-dairy cake if we hadn’t made it clear that it was. In summary, Crust is awesome! Thank you for helping to make our wedding day so memorable and delectable.
