Top notch food and service.
Simply the best BYOB brunch spot in Northwest Philly. I consider this spot a special treat even though the prices are fair and commensurate with the quality. Don’t skip the pastries on your way out, of your SO will be mad!
A decent lunch
Everything is delish.
Over priced basic breakfast. Small portion on anything other than eggs and omelets. More of a trendy be seen place. Not worth the wait
Excellent lunch, reasonable price. Very popular with locals.
Too noisy.
Very small but outstanding food and outstanding desserts which is in Chestnut Hill that bunch of us went to
Decent brunch spot for the location & pretty good service.
Went with a few friends on Sunday October 21, 2018 for breakfast. We were the first to be seated and the last to receive our food. After an hour of waiting we asked to speak to our server. When we pointed out to her that everyone in the room was eating, including everyone that came after us, she couldn't provide a logical explanation. To make a experience worst, we asked to speak to the manager. When she finally came out she clearly seemed bothered that we were disappointed in the service. Sure she apologizes although it did not seemed sincere. Food finally came out, portions and quality were good however WORST SERVICE EVER!
Reasonably good food, reasonable price, all s servers were pleasant and helpful .... except the senior server who tried to seat is by the bathroom when the whole restaurant was empty, moved of to another table in the middle of a walkway, failed to refill our water and coffee until chased across-the-room.
Love this place, amazing brunch and breakfast menu!
Good brunch and kids friendly. Usually crowded on weekends.
Great spot for a lunch date. Sandwiches are fresh and tasty. Beautiful interior
Great food, love the glass house and brightness. Friendly people and reasonable prices, definitely returning
Incredible crab cakes with brunch
It's really a lovely place to meet friends and family. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming! I recommend going for brunch! And the food was delightful!
Another delicious brunch at Cake!
Great brunch place! Lovely staff yummy food!
Good food, very nice wait staff, and it is a nice place to have breakfast. Just remember to bring your sunglasses.
Always good food and friendly staff but trying to find way to say to them, "Guys, u really need to dust the overhead vents before something does a fly in the soup routine!"
Wonderful waitstaff and excellent food. Will come again.
Lovely atmosphere and food. I just wish they had more gluten free and dairy free options.
Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Brownie for Breakfast...yeah I did
Cake is excellent for both breakfast and lunch. Very friendly staff and a beautiful room to eat. The food is incredible.
Everything there is so delicious escpecially the waitress and counter girls
One of the gems of Chestnut Hill.
The best brunch!!
Wonderful lunch spot.
nice atmosphere! Love it
My friend and I had lunch here today. We both agreed that the quiche, with asparagus, brie and onion was the best quiche we have ever had..the atmosphere is very bright and tropical. Would definitely eat here again.
Wonderful place, friendly service and great food options. Our server had some great recommendations. Service was a bit slow and chaotic, but we weren't in any hurry to leave.
I love this place.Best customer service and the staff were amiable and attentive.
Best brunch in chestnut hill!
Good food
Wow! Great BYOB brunch! Quiche was amazing. As was the Brioche French toast with strawberries.
Yum. Eclectic is right. Something for everyone, not to mention their killer bakery. A must in Chestnut Hill!
They always have good food and pleasant waitresses.
A nice place to take your wife.
Nice ambiance, good food. On the small side. Get there early on the weekends to avoid the wait
A hidden treasure!
Tasty, quick, pleasant.
quick, helpful, and friendly service. the bill was good for how much you get.
Great chocolate-stuffed croissants!
Well worth it
I took my young son to Cake for a mid week late breakfast. We were greated and sat by a waitress that was very sweet and attentive. She said our server would be right over, but she broight us our coffee and water. There were only 3 other tables...our waitress then came over, took our order and never came back. She didn't offer me more coffee, check in with us or make sure we were alright. She stood chatting with other employees. The precious woman dropped off our food and tended to the other tables. Our waitress then greeted and sat a couple that walked in, she started telling the gentleman how she kneq him, pulled out her cell phone and reminisced with them....then as I cleaned off our table and piled the dishes together, she eventually dropped off the check and quickly walked away. This being our first time, I assumed you pay at the counter and I was right. Disappointed in the service as it obershadowed the food which was actually excellent. A bit expensive, but worth it. We picked up several bakery items on the way out, and they were good. They offer day old cookies and treats, the cookies are just $1.00
Delicious.
Good food and nice environment
Love the ambience. So far so good except for the waitress who initially greeted me at the door and seated me at a dirty table because she hadn't realized that the table needed cleaning. I didn't really appreciate that. I think restaurants should always wipe tables immediately once customers have left a table so that it'll be ready for the next customer. Other than that, I love the atmosphere and the menu options and the other waitress who is catering to me is extremely friendly and patient since its my first time here and I don't know what to order.
Great atmosphere! Ideal date or luncheon spot. I loved the apple crumble tart.
Absolutely stunning on the inside! I loved my pastry as well.
Delicious food (something for everyone and the prices are good). Great service once you are seated. The venue is beautiful (greenhouse type building). I would definitely revisit. A few things to keep in mind: 1) they don't take reservations 2) they are a popular spot. We had to wait over an hour to get seated. 3) they close at 3 on Sunday so get there early.
Love Cake but wish they had some plant based/vegan options.
Sunday breakfast Good food
The space is really cute and unique because it's inside of an old greenhouse. The food was decent but nothing special. My husband said his chicken salad sandwich lacked seasoning and so did my quiche. The quiche was tasty but was served cold in the middle. I recommend this place for dessert only. The chocolate peanut butter tart was delicious!
Great food! Pretty place!
Go for brunch.
Atmosphere is amazing, food is generally pretty good. Limited selection, but everything is good.
What's a pleasant afternoon brunch
Great atmosphere, disappointing food. If Cake would spend some more time on the quality of their entrees this restaurant would be a must-visit. I got the steak and eggs for brunch, and the steak was unevenly cooked (rare at one end, well done at the other) and roughly 40% fat. I left most of it on my plate. my companion got a frittata and that was pretty good, if a bit dry. the desserts were good of course, but I was a bit nauseated by the food.
Quaint atmosphere. Lunch selection was unique-hard to make a choice. Plated beautiful. Fresh, light, satisfying meal. Dessert choices were even more difficult-you must try this place!
Reserved a wedding rehearsal dinner at Cake and was totally pleased. They were very flexible and willing to accommodate us. We needed time & space to set technology, and the rehearsal ran late and they were not troubled by it. We were from out of town and having one price cover everything from setup, food, beverages, dessert, and clean up was GREAT! They did everything! Additionally, everyone agreed the food entrees were delicious, as were the cakes. And the atmosphere and friendly service made for a real relaxing and pleasurable night.
This is my first visit to Cake. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the Cajun chicken wrap is delicious I will be back for another visit very soon.
My husband & I enjoy this place, but often go somewhere else because the wait is always long & there is virtually no space to physically wait...but we were lucky today....food(chicken salad/black bean soup/sirloin burger)was very good. Water for tea was barely warm, but that's our fault for not complaining to our sweet waitress.
Great place to have a fancy lunch with girlfriends. Food is good, desserts are yummy and the location is beautiful. Bring change for the parking meters
Love their pesto grill cheese sandwich. Squash soup with nuts. Absolutely delicious and a side salad
Pricey but delicious. Be prepared to wait, as their kitchen is tiny. Make sure to save some room and pick out something from the dessert case on your way out.
Stop here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon... after I came from Yoga class. I was indecisive about the crab cakes or the steak &eggs lol. But ended up trying the crab cakes! They were small, I wish they were a little bit bigger but they were very flavorful and instead of asparagus I choose sauted mushrooms. I believe the mushrooms paired well with my homefries and I also had sparking wine with a splash of cranberry juice. Everything was great! Customer service was very attentive and yes! Definitely would recommend to a friend! Also great atmosphere
Good, non-complicated food. Saturday means you will wait. Desserts are excellent is you aren't already full. In fact, I would just go for dessert, it isn't named Cake for nothing.
Quaint little place. Employees were very nice. Pastries are over the top!!
Attended a private party there in June. Staff was minimal, and annoyed. Unexpectedly had to bring our 6 yr old. An adult at the table spilled her wine, notified the staff and they were more than annoyed at having to blot the tablecloth, assuming my child had done it. Food was overly particular and they had the inability to improvise, so they said- “everything was pre-prepared” and they were unable to accommodate any “off the menu” request. Side note- food was bland and the owner was smug.
Food was good, service was great. Wish there was more to choose from in the menu.
Amazing breakfast food!
Beautiful location. Very slow service. Food looks amazing but both dishes were quite bland.
Great food, very relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyed their pastries.
Good breakfast.
Consistently good food and service. Don't miss the dessert display!
Great Service, Great Vibes and Great People.
Gourd food, great ambiance. Not really worthwaiting in line in the cold to be seated in one of their 50 seats for brunch.
Delicious little bakery and restaurant in Chestnut Hill. I've gotten the tarts several times and they are amazing!! Still have yet to try the restaurant but hope to soon!
Absolutely perfect lunch!
A bit crowded but a pleasant space with friendly service.
Great atomosphere and food!
Excellent! Good lunch food, good service, delightful ambience.
Classic Chestnut Hill Spot. Breakfast, lunch or brunch. The scones and black coffee!
Very good Sunday Brunch
A very delicious lunch. Great service!
Brunch was delicious. Employees were friendly and helpful.
Varied brunch menu, in a lovely setting. Some nice additions to the standard breakfast fare, quiche, frittata, crab. Large portions, made to order. Noise level can be a bit much, but the decor makes up for it. #brunch
This brunch spot is very charming. I have gone with a group of 4-6 people on Sunday mornings and it is worth the visit. The atmosphere looks like a green house with tons of glass walls. There are great healthy options on the menu.
Their tarts are amazing and the staff are so kind.
Beautiful and delish food
i've had nothing but pleasant experiences here and plan to keep coming back. prices were decent.
Best brunch in Chestnut Hill! Especially on Sunday.
Cake is a lovely place for many occasions. Brunch was delicious. Staffs were kind and work efficiently. Its interior has plenty of national light which I like. Waiting for a table takes longer than I expected; however it is nice you don't need to ne inside because they take customer's phone number and call when a table is ready. You also can enjoy looking a pretty gift shop connected with the cafe while waiting a call from Cake
Food is definitely good. Staff is all really nice, service is exceptionally slow though. We waited about 35-40 mins for our food, none of which involved much cooking. As I️ said, the food is good, but I️m on the fence as to whether it’s worth how long it takes to come to the table.
Good but a lil greasy
845pm on a thursday and my fiance and I just returned from dinner. The food was good, we were happy, until the MICE came out and joined our end of dinner discussion. I couldn't sit still, seeing one behind me and then one in front of me. The waiter acted as if NOTHING was happening, although, he clearly saw the mice scurrying below. It was disgusting and it was such poor service....not even an apology about the RODENTS running around the dinner tables. Luckily, for CAKE, there were about 3 total guests for dinner. Reservations obviously not needed. Such a shame, really expected a nice night out at a BYOB> only recommend to those ppl not turned off by scurrying rodents.
I enjoyed everything the bread made we want to give a standing toast to the inventors of wheat, yeast and ovens, I had a flounder special it was delish. I decided to have a dessert a chocolate torte. One of those chocolate desserts so rich you just know you didn't deserve it, should definitely not eat it all, but I did anyway, and then the simple decaf coffee made it perfect! Good Job Cake!
Lots of natural light. Pleasant staff. Good food.
Delicious and an awesome atmosphere. We will be coming back! One note, if you're gluten free, be prepared to ask for specific changes to your choice from the menu. They don't have anything already on offer but will adjust to request. I was able to get the Eggs Madame without the croissant and it was still delicious and very filling.
Wife, I, Daughter and Grandson had brunch. Beautiful atmosphere great food highly recommended.
When you order to eat in the restaurant, the order is normally perfect. However, this is at least the fourth time I have ordered the quinoa salad to go, WITH DRESSING ON THIS SIDE. This is not a difficult concept. I have many friends that will no go to the restaurant because of the owner's attitude, and they feel unwelcome. I continue to go because I enjoy the food. However, I am sick of paying for a salad that HAS THE DRESSING ON IT, when I have specifically asked for it on the side. I opened up the salad for dinner tonight (purchased 2 days ago), WITH THE DRESSING ON THE SIDE, only to find the dressing was all over the salad, and it was not eatable. I was assured by the server that the dressing was on the side; as I asked her TWICE (my mother was a witness and suggested I check). I now realize this is my fault for believing the servers that the dressing is on the side, when clearly, at this point, they haven't bothered to check. This is not an inexpensive lunch/dinner. Between the attitude of the owner and her very unwelcoming demeanor, and the mistakes made, I think I will follow my friends, spread the word, and not go to the restaurant any time soon. It's a shame; the servers have a great attitude, but don't check their out going orders and the attitude served up by the owner is nothing less than unwelcoming; she feels that she is doing us a service, when in fact, if the word continues to spread, she will not be doing any service, as people will continue to stop going. Coming to the restaurant is a compliment; however, as we all know, the bad word spreads, and it all down hill. It's really a shame, but many of us are tired of the bad attitude and on take out orders, sub-level service. I am sure I can find another quinoa salad somewhere that will be equivalent in product and probably cheaper in the long run. I am a business owner myself, and would never provide this type of service, and if any of my employees did, they would be fired on the spot. This seems to be an automatic thumbs up for the post. I AM A COMPLETE AND TOTAL THUMBS DOWN FOR TAKE OUT.
Delicious, cute and friendly
Great food at a reasonable price
Nice neighborhood spot for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.
Just not my style. It's okay but cramped. Stuffed into a vitorian house with light fare and good deserts.
Cozy, eccentric, eclectic yummy comfort good yet prepared in a classy stylish way. Awesome plates, great portions, breakfasts are wonderful, lovely waitresses. Small venue so can be a wait for seating but Worth It!!!!!
The Sunday brunch is AMAZING!
Good food, service is fair
The best brunch spot ever and let's not forget their desserts, they are all amazing.
Brunch Review: A-Mazing!
Just got back from Sunday brunch. We live two blocks away. For newbies and out-of-towners, here's vital info: You really do need to be there early. Even on a miserable day--and it was raining pretty hard this morning--the line starts at 9:30 a.m. The restaurant opens at 10. We were first in line because we know the drill. There were people at the end of the line who had to wait for a table. Bring your raincoat and umbrella, or your parka and snow boots, because regardless of the weather, there is a line. That's how good it is. One other quick recommendation. I am not one of those who lives on red meat. That said, I always order the ribeye. I've eaten in steak houses, but I have yet to find a steak house that can do a better job with a ribeye than Cake does at Sunday brunch. I can't explain why--it's completely unexpected--but it's truly amazing. Tender, even if you order it well-done, with a nice knob of seasoned butter melting away on top.
I liked the atmosphere and food there. But me and my friends waited for an hour and 20 min to be seated. Yes, it's a tiny place. But they should've managed the tables in the order of checking in. It was not fair they called small parties first even everyone who came after us and not saving a table for us at all.
Great bakery items. Good coffee. And amazing brunch and lunch .
Fresh ingredients, great service!
Saturday morning, and I have no idea why there isn't a line out the door... Perfect breakfast, attentive and polite staff, nice atmosphere... Lovely. Great coffee. Quiche du jour- mushroom and sage with goat cheese.... PERFECT, light crust and fluffy filling. Side of home fries and extra crispy bacon... Literally the most perfectly cooked bacon I've had, and I'm suuuper picky about the crispness of my bacon
Nice and relaxing
Ideal place for a Sunday brunch with family or friends.
Crab Benedict is awesome
Great food breakfast lunch and dinner!!
Super cute place. Food was ok but the concept of the restaurant won me over ....beautiful!
Lovely place for Sunday brunch
Food good.. ... atmosphere good...bakery ok
Great scenery, fantastic food. Great atmosphere to have a nice and relaxed brunch. Don't go too hungry, as there is usually a wait. Luckily, Chestnut Hill is a great place to explore in the meantime!
Very good, food was plated nicely. Every dish comes with a side of chips, salad, or Cole slaw. I got the chips thinking they were freshly baked, nope- right out of a bag. Everything else was delicious, I recommend the chicken salad or the Ultimate grilled cheese.
Such a wonderful little spot for Sunday brunch. The atmosphere of the old green house is bright, warm, and welcoming. The menu is a nice light twist on some classics, and the pastry case is oh so tempting. Very recommended.
Good food, lovely space, friendly staff.
My girlfriend adores this place. She makes me come here everytime we can. She can't live without something sweet.
Great breakfast
Good food, nice place for lunch.
Love it ... its a cool place for a brunch on a weekend.. the have a great baked goodies ... love the idea of converting a green house to a cafe
Great location, atmosphere, and food! There is usually a wait, not a fast stop option. Put your name in the list and walk around town for a bit, they will call.
I ate at Cake on a Wednesday morning after my flight into Philly. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I had the quiche and it was amazing. It was the right balance of flavors, consistency and the crust was bomb! My friend and I shared a side of bacon as well. I’d go back often!
French toast. End of story. Yummm
Very lovely interior and great brunch with friends here.
Excellent food with ample portions, friendly staff! The dessert looks amazing too, but we were too full to eat some.. will have to come back another time!
Absolutely love this place. Amazing food and the best staff around!
Cake is consistently delicious. The cake portion though is only the beginning of a delectable experience. Their quieche is so tasty due to the incredible crust and filling. The salads are remarkably fresh. The soups are so healthful tasting, and the cherry pie is pure heaven. They have huge real cherries in it! Crazy good!
Nice brunch. Lots of light.
Friendly & very delicious
This place is truly awesome. I stepped outside my norm and had the quiche with roasted red peppers and feta it was to die for. Very creamy and the crust was out of this world. Will be going back soon.
French toast were great. A bit crowded.
Was a wonderful brunch with friendly in a great setting. We had a wait of about an hour so I'd suggest calling first if possible.
Wonderful atmosphere and incredible food
Great service...great food
Favorite local spot. The food is always prepared just right. The bakery is on site with amazing desserts!
Over priced food that is bland at best
