All-American bakery and cafe in the heart of Amish country. Shoo-Fly Pie and apple fritters, whoopie pies, all kinds of fancy cupcakes, angel food cakes, that kind of stuff. Some really good donuts too. And fresh local ice cream, extra good. Spotlessly clean, super friendly and helpful staff, nice location. There's even a petting zoo for the little kids.

Good ice-cream. Try the Shoofly Pie flavor. It's not to sweet and goes well with coffee. If you sit outside it's a bit close to the street but you can just go around the corner and hang in the back of the building where you have a nice few of fields.

Waited forever for soup and sandwich and then I got it and it had mayo on it and was wrong. Didn't even send it back because it took to long. I think they are trying to be like panera bread but they are failing, very disconnected place it use to be way better, 2 registers for cafe and bakery just takes so long here if you are in a hurry skip it.

We've lived in Lancaster for 2 years and have yet to visit this lovely place. Since it was the first day of spring and they offer a free scoop of ice cream I figured I would support a local establishment rather than a big national chain. It was wonderful ice cream! I also got coffee and bagels afterwards. Just across the parking lot there are a couple of adorable animals in a little fenced enclosure. Today we saw goats, a donkey, and chickens! My girls were all about that. There's also a lovely little playground with a very shallow Creek running through it. I definitely learned my lesson about not bringing Wellies on this bright sunny 45 degree day. We came home with wet feet but happy hearts. This will definitely become a place we frequent.

Located in Amish country they have GREAT sandwiches, a nice assortment of ice cream, and an incredible variety of freshly prepared baked goodies! Bought several items to take home. They also have outlets at the counter seating so you can charge your phone!

Ok you heard of Shoofly Pie? It is the pie to die for in Lancaster County. They have without a doubt the best Shoofly Pie anywhere. You have to get there very early because their bake goods sell out very fast. You will not be disappointed. And when you are there you should try the Ice Cream. It is a perfect blend of flavor and cream, not too sweet. They have parking so it is an easy in and out.

This place has amazingly creamy and delicious ice creams and donuts. I went in at almost closing time but their donut still tasted chewy and just the right amount of sweetness. Customer service was also delightful. 5\5 would go visit again next time I'm in Pennsylvania

The reason I only gave one star is because I bought some apple dumplings that were just awful last week. (Oct 2019) The dough on the bottom was raw, the apple wasn't cooked and all brown in the middle and not due to any cinnamon or spices. Just looked rotten. They came two in a package and I bought two of them..Needless to say I threw them all away! I do have to say the people were friendly and it was a nice shop to look around in, but I wouldn't buy apple dumplings from there again.

Every year my husband and I come to Lancaster to celebrate our Anniversary. While here, we always eat lunch at this cafe just about everyday of our visit. It has become our favorite place to eat lunch. The sandwiches are AWESOME and so is the soups. The atmosphere is great!!! And there are samples you can try too while here. We look so foward to our trip every year!!! Hope you will give this place a try. I really think you will enjoy it as much as we do. Oh yeah, and if you have never tried the Shoofly pie, this is the place to sample it. This is where I found out I loved that pie!!!!

The food is great but noticed a difference since the last time we were there . We ate breakfast there 4 times 2 out of 4 the order was wrong. I ordered something’s to pick up before we left . They forgot to give me one of the things I ordered and I ordered bread and asked for it to be sliced . They didn't slice the bread. So lesson learned check your order before you leave . They are very nice and friendly .

I purchased there goods from a farmers market in Harrisburg. There goods are simple and well made. The donuts I bought were moist, delicious, and had a much better shelf life than Dunkin. Their cupcakes were great too. I deducted a point for the loaf of bread I purchased. I was hoping for a sweet bread with a slightly hard crust i.e. Brioche or Challah. They only had cake like breads and white. I picked the white and it had a simple taste almost salty and consistency.

From different flavors in cakes to many kind of cookies, all kind of fruit pies and fresh baked bread. Believe me when I say, if you're looking for bake goods, I'm almost sure you will find it here.

Blackberry pie.... you mean hard seed pie? Coconut cream pie had bland and watery custard. Crust was dry. Skip this tourist trap and buy it from a grocery store.

This bakery has a lot of sweets. One of my favorites is the ice cream sandwich. It's delicious. The prices are on the high side but that seems to be the norm in the area. The workers are nice and professional, has a smile on their faces. The store is not that crowded most of the time. If you go upstairs, you can be seated and eat a proper meal. Overall, fun place to visit to get some good treats.

This is a clean eatery that serves sandwiches, ice cream, bake goods, and ice cream / coffee drinks. The salads here are great and there are plenty of nice places to sit. However, the sandwiches taste average but are priced above average. The staff is very friendly here.

Food was excellent and good value for price. All food is homeade and delicious. They also have great ice cream. My wife and I shared a banana split and it was awesome. We also didn't leave without picking up a few homemade foods to go. Bathroom's were clean and are all around experience was great. We will definitely be going back the next time we are in the area.

We ordered a southwestern chicken panini and a salad. Salad was ok but for the price it was actually tiny barely anything there. The chicken panini, on the other hand, was soggy sloppy mess with maybe 4 thin chicken strips barely covering half of the sandwich. Other half of the sandwich was just some tomato slices and little seasoning on stale white bread. I think Amish people are getting tired of making food for fat, non-amish people. I've tried few restaurants in Lancaster recently and they all pretty much SUCK! With all the decent restaurants popping up everywhere these days, I'm not sure if there are any reasons to visit Lancaster anymore if their food has gone down-hill so much lately.

My wife had never had shoofly pie, and this was a good opportunity to catch her up. We found a complete selection of local fare at the Bird-in-Hand Bakery, but we found the crowding distracting and the offerings sort of dear. That said, it's still worth a stop to get a feel for the Pennsylvania Dutch area.

Awful compared to years past. I have been coming for years specifically for the doughnuts that used to be filled with so much filling and completely covered in fluffy frosting. The peanut butter filled had barely any frosting on top and it was not even the same delicious frosting. The inside had a bite of filling which also was not good. The girl that boxed them put 6 different doughnuts into a small box without any paper so the frosting went all over and they all got smushed. Definitely will be looking for a new bakery the next visit.

Bird-in-hand Bakery makes the best raisin bread in the whole United States, hands down! When my grandsons and I visit the Lancaster area, we always bring some home, including some extra loaves to keep in the freezer until we're ready for it. Also, everything else they make is fantastic, too!

Why oh why did they change this place we use to love it. It took 20 minutes to get a bowl of soup and an apple fritter. People behind the counter couldn’t even see us there because they were standing in back of huge separation wall giggling and talking. Food not as good as it use to be a few years back when smaller. Nice bakery that does things as close to homemaed as it gets they just remodle and i can say they maed it a better pkace with outdoor seating both up stairs on a balcone and on street leavel very visavle frome the road its close to other shopes as well. And a nice hotel and campegrounds are very close.

Came here after a delicious lunch experience. Grabbed some baked goods and a scoop of Strawberry Cocunut Chocolate Chip Ice Cream. What a combination but works wonderfully. Staff didnt know why the batch didnt thicken but that didnt matter. Very nice place and a cute petting zoo too! Will definitely come again!

Amazing bakrd delights and the best bread ever. I didn't eat at the deli but the menu looked delicious. Bird-in-Hand is a cute, amazing area and the bakery has a 2nd level so patrons can eat with a view of Amish buggies going by. I would recommend this place for a quick bite or to buy divine baked goods including homemade pie crust to take home and make your own pies!

This was the worst service i have ever had at a place. It took 15 minutes for a salad and they forgot the chicken on it anyway and i was only 1 of 2 people in the whole place. Then they overcharged me for a bag of chips that had a special sticker price on it and when i saod something to the elderly lady she got mad and handed me a dollat and said are we good now. Im sorry you over charged me and did your job wrong lady. Never again.

I had the Bird-in-Hand Bakery make my wedding cake and whoopie pie favors. They did an AMAZING job! Ashley McFalls made our cake and she completely nailed it! It was amazing and everything I could have hoped for. They even packaged my whoopie pies really nicely. The guests loved the whoopie pie favors and the cake not only looked amazing, it tasted amazing. I felt that they were also very reasonably priced. I wasn't looking for anything large (just two tiers) and other places I visited charged a flat rate no matter what size and had a flat rate delivery fee. I felt that the Bird-in-hand bakery was very reasonably priced and the delivery fee was very reasonable as well. I couldn't be happier.
