Ive worked with donuts for years, and I can tell you these are Real Donuts! People need to understand that this is the ONLY place in Bismarck that MAKES donuts. If you buy from a grocery store in this city(most likely Dan's), your buying frozen-fried garbage donuts from a factory which is unacceptable if you know dough like I do. The difference is truly noticeable, from the imperfect shape, frying, frosting, and filling(none of these are a bad thing) you cant tell from a mile away they are made buy hand, at the shop. Someone like me appreciates those imperfections. The taste is of course truly far greater than lets say the Dan's garbage they sell. ~$14 a dozen is a fair price especially when they can boast they are the only shop in town. They have a fair selection and its best if you get there early, I assume they are made around 3-5 am, how it usually goes. I made this because a lot of people dont know about good donuts, well I do, and I would recommend Bearscat to anyone.

Co-workers had brought donuts from here a few times and they seemed alright. Upon going there myself was disappointed by lack of variety and no bear claws (my boyfriend's favorite). Donuts I bought were ok but definitely not that great. Price was not awful but I would rather pay the grocery store price for what others claim are "100% not homemade" than return here. Might have better luck at the Mandan location.

Old review: Mediocre donuts with a seemingly random assortment of toppings and fillings. Nowhere near the best donuts i've tried, but certainly among the most expensive. If you have money to waste and want a slightly-better than convenience store donut, go for it. Update: Changed review to 4 stars. This time the donuts were much better. Given how positive the other reviews are, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and say my first visit there was just an off batch.

The lodge we stayed at recommended this place and it was quite the excursion. Not only did we get excellent pastries, the community was worth the drive. The people were very friendly and invited us to hang out and have pizza that evening. As good as the food is, the experience was better!

Good donuts but the prices are very high. A couple years ago this place changed it's name from The Donut Hole to Bearscat Bakehouse, likely due to new ownership, and I haven't had any reason to come back since. I went here more when the name was still The Donut Hole and everyone didn't flock here in the morning for their daily coffee and donut addiction.

Plus mandan has a better variety of donuts for some odd reason (it's the one spawned off this location) .

On vacation visiting family and they suggested I try a Bearscat donut. Almost wished they didn't. Lol I bought a dozen late in the day on Saturday when they were picked through and after 5 donuts later I declare the only thing I can find wrong with these donuts is that I won't have access to them when I leave on Wednesday. :( They were literally the best donut I have ever eaten!!!! I woke Sunday morning craving another to be disappointed that they were closed on Sundays. It's ok I guess after making these handful of heaven delightful treats all week they deserve a day off. I will be there early Monday morning!

I am from NYC and stopped by on a whim as I drove through Bismarck during a road trip out west. We have thousands of bake shops in New York and I have never found one that even comes close to the quality of Bearscat. Absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD donuts. I was the biggest fan of the Maple Bacon donut and the Raspberry filled donut but it seems like you can't go wrong no matter what you are craving. Wish I could give 6 stars. It's really that good.

Have got donuts here MANY times because i live in Bismarck, and had donuts around the world. Sometimes the donuts are good, other times not so good, very inconsistent quality. Have gotten stale dry cake donuts at least six times, frosted and not, so they are selling day old donuts or older at regular price. not at all impressed. would not recommend. Horrible name, not that good of donuts.

On Tuesday I placed an order for a dozen peanut butter persians to be picked up today, Friday. Arrived at the time I indicated only to find out my order had been given to someone else. So the young man said he could make some. I specifies, Peanut Butter Persians, he said yes. I waited and he brought the box out. I paid for it and left. I arrived at my sisters home to surprise my niece, who is here from Italy, only to open the box and find 12 round donuts. I called and the young man that answered the phone dismissed my complaint and said, it was just a mistake. Odds of me returning are nill! Thanks for ruining my surprise

Even the sprinkled is fantastic, and I say that because I would usually opt for a jelly or creme filled. I'm not a fan of sweets usually, but when it is worth it, it is worth it. Bearscat runs a clean bakery with a very wide variety of tasty doughnut baked in-house. They have everything from your standard chocolate ring doughnuts to long johns covered with Fruity Pebbles. The staff is helpful with recommendations and even when they're busy they don't try to rush you. These definitely aren't the sub-$1 doughnuts you get from a grocery store. The drink options, however, do feel a bit overpriced to me.

I will preface this by saying thay we travel all over the country for work and that I have a major sweet tooth. When my boyfriend told me to go here n get some donuts I was a little wary. When I walked in the store and looked around I was even more scared but, I'm really glad I did because they are absolutely wonderful. You can tell they are homemade because the dough literally melts in your mouth. Donuts that are frozen and then flash fried have that "spider web" look to the dough. I've seen a lot of comments about the price but $13 for a dozen donuts is extremely reasonable. Most donut places in a metropolitan area such as Bismarck (and, yes, this place is considered metropolitan in North Dakota, lol) as well as anywhere else. Yes, you can get cheaper donuts at a supermarket because they can afford to sell their donuts for less because they sell them in bulk and they order them from a factory. That is why local businesses struggle so much and it is extremely important to buy local. You're getting a better more high quality product at $2 more a dozen. And a quarter more a donut. I'll spend the extra quarter.
