Being from New York I was ecstatic to find this charming bakery with all the delicious goods I remembered as a child. The only bakery of its kind in the area that I’m aware of. However, upon my first visit and spending over $26, I found some of the items to be stale ( the black and white cookies). I called and informed the establishment and the teenager that answered said ok and that was it. Not letting this deter me, I went back and encountered more stale items. Extremely disappointed and I will not be back as the items are not inexpensive.

I LOVE this bakery. I got a sheet cake with pictures scanned to the cake. It was the hit of my party. Not only was the cake beautiful, it taste really good. The staff is awesome!!!!! Now my family from MD want a cake every time they come. The price was very reasonable too. If you haven't been go check it out.

This place is definitely one of Clayton's gems. The cookies and cakes are amazing. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I have purchased a number of items from this bakery as gifts. The weekends are very busy, but i normally go in the mornings during the week and have no issues.

Love it! We do not have bakeries in our area of Virginia. The grocery stores are our bakeries ☹️. I was so excited to be at a real bakery. I loved the sandwich I got. The iced sweet tea was delicious. Looking forward to going back and getting me a nice goody bag to take back home to Virginia.

The pastrys are good, but the coffee is terrible. It really does taste burnt. I had them make my latte twice and it just tastes like they haven't cleaned the machines or they are using a very bitter coffee. The ambiance was cafe like, spacious and clean. The staff was pleasant, and very quick to help. Wish I could give this more stars but the coffee killed any chance.

This is a perfect little place for fresh baked cookies, cakes, soups, sandwiches, coffee and other treats and food items. Clayton Bakery & Cafe is a neat little place if you're looking for just a quick cup of coffee (and maybe a donut or two) or a hearty sandwich. Plus it's very easy to see from Highway 70 and reasonably priced. I will go back as often as I can.

Excellent Italian pastries. They fill the cannolis when you order them and don't just leave them sitting around getting mushy. Their tiramisu could be creamier but it is tasty and the eclairs are awesome. The Italian bread is soft, unfortunately, because they put it in plastic when it comes out of the oven instead of paper but hopefully they fix it. No one wants soft Italian bread. If they fixed the bread issue this place would be 5 stars. The store itself is very nice with tables where you can sit and eat while drinking a coffee.

I love the bakery, but I do not find the team members to be overly friendly! The people who work there actually take away from what is a cool place. Wish they seemed friendlier; especially since the bakery is located in a small, southern town!

Great place to grab a quick delicious bite. The white chocolate pumpkin scone is delicious. The atmosphere is so comfortable and welcoming. The staff is very friendly and laid back.

Used Waze to get here, off by 0.4 miles, it's past all the Grifols and Corp driveways. Not their fault, need to correct Waze. ☹️ Like most bakeries today, none of the pastries that are supposed to be made with whipped cream, aren't.

I have been frequenting their establishment since they were at their previous location. They have done nothing but thrive and strive to do better for their customers and deliver delicious sandwiches, pastries, and coffee beverages. The owners are wonderful people, and I hope to see their business only continue to grow. They have managed to thrive so much without any sort of paid advertisement, relying only on word of mouth, which speaks volumes to their commitment to doing what they love. If all of Clayton knew about their hidden gem, the regulars would miss a short wait in line.

This is such a lovely bakery. Not only do they have a plethora of store-made tasty treats to (try to) choose from, their coffee is wonderful too! You know the coffee is good when a former barista approves so strongly. I visit this quaint local-owned bakery any time I'm in town. The staff are always friendly, helpful, and quick. Love them!

The pastries here are positively sublime. They have a tremendous selection of all kinds of pastries to choose from. The items that I had tasted fresh and delicious. They also have a good amount of seating. Their specialty drinks are just as varied and tasty as their pastries. Overall, it was a great experience with amazing food and beverages.

Clayton Bakery is terrific, I come all the way from Raleigh to get their honey bun. Like biting into lovely, sugary air. May want to call ahead though as they do sell out. There is a young man behind the counter named Jake, that has the best personality. Helpful and Friendly...a great combo; they are lucky to have him!

Have tried almost everything from the case! Most everything is delicious. I like a denser cake and this place does it awesome! My sons looooove the cookie monsters! I haven't been overly impressed with any of the puff pastry/croissants, they have been on the drier side in my opinion. Other than that I love this place!

Been there a few times but I will be looking elsewhere for pastries. Purchased a box of assorted rugelach. They were very hard and not that tasty. Called to tell them, expected them to own up and tell me to return them for a refund, not what happened. I was told that the baker needed to call me back to explain why it was inedible. Think I’ll pass on them from now on. Also it would be a good idea for them to date their products as to advise customers when items were baked.

Usually a great place but today was an off day. Latte was Luke warm, at best. Suggested that I heat it up in the microwave but I exchanged for a regular coffee from the carafe which was also luke warm. Gave up and drank my warm, not hot, coffee.

Cheesecake is dry and both the cheesecake and the german chocolate cake taste like coffee. Which would be fine if it was supposed to be coffee flavor. But even the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies were coffee flavored. Great for coffee lovers though.

I used to love to go to Clayton Bakery for lunch or a snack. The food is still good but the service is in a downhill spiral. Today both orders were wrong. The lady taking our order cut me off while ordering to the point where I gave up. Won't be going out of my way to have lunch there.

This is an awesome place for lunch. My first time here I ordered the apple gobbler. . So yummy, the chicken pesto is also really good, and the chicken salad on a croissant is this only place I'll get a chicken salad other than when I make it myself.

Local, Southern Clayton, Bakery that makes all types of breads, pasterys, cookies, cakes etc. About 80 percent of the shop is the actual bakery, and the whole facility is open, so you get to see them baking behind the counter while you eat what ever delectable treat you have purchased. The store is also a cafe and you can order what ever coffee concoction you usually imbibe. Your really missing out if you haven't stopped bye and tryed this bakery out.

This place is dangerous. I always say I will only get a couple of cookies and then leave with an entire box of deliciousness. The pastries, cookies, brownies and cake are the best anywhere in the area. The birthday cake slices are a favorite and the ginger cookies also bring me back far too often. I've tried about everything they have and never been disappointed. Their lunch menu is also great. I've ordered several occassion cakes from here too and they have always been fresh, moist and wonderful.

Best doughnuts I've found in Clayton. The customer service is some of the best I've ever had. Staff was knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. We got donuts, turn overs, and other pastries, no cakes or coffee, and it was all delicious. Some better than others. Honestly, the great customer service is the biggest reason we keep going back.
