Was great , so impressed
This is my neighborhood bread place Been coming since day one. They renovated and have seating now. Know that since the expansion they close at four now. So for all of.the people who used to pick up bread on their way home to Jersey from work, you.have to get your bread earlier because they are no longer open umtil 7. Great bread, bomboloni, brownies, coffee, tea, soup.
Wonderful seeded bread that's just to die for.
Good bakery with breads, rolls, and an espresso machine to boot. We stopped for croissant and coffee but a lot of locals were buying interesting loaves of bread.
Great selection of bakery foods. Great for a light breakfast. Solid coffee. Awesome staff. We were working nearby for an event and it quickly became the go-to for our breakfasts
Some of the best bread you can get in the city, servicing many restaurants around town with their gluten-y goodness. This is not a full luncheonette, but they will pre-made sandwiches at lunch time and always have some flatbreads on tap. With an ever-expanding pastry list, you can grab some goodies on your way out of town. Around the holiday season, their pies and panettone are sublime. Their coffee is strong. They will slice your bread if you ask, and they will sell half-loaves of almost everything. Top of their craft.
How good can a custard filled donut taste, right? you will have to try their bombolinis to really appreciate how good these can be. the zuchini topped flatbreat, is a super hit with our family. it is an eye opener to know that very simple ingredients when prepared the right way can be delicious.
Food is good but a bit pricey
Super friendly staff and the bread, pizza and pastries are fantastic If you are in the area make sure you stop buy.
Great bread, coffee and juice
Everything is great!
This is one of the best kept secrets in Hell's Kitchen (or as it is now known Clinton). I have to make at least one trip a week.
Easily the best bomboloni in the city. It's a trek to get here, but well worth it.
This location is under remodeling. The sign said it will open in few weeks.
Delicious and distinctive pastries. 5 seats looking out to the street.
It's good.
Absolutely fantastic. No more words needed.
Furniture is dirty, got my pants messed up
This place is the BOMB! It tastes exactly like my focaccias back in Italy. Bomboloni are so fresh, soft and delicious. Everything smells incredibly gooooood! I’m so in lo e with this place. Today i had 4 focaccias: Pomodoro, zucchini, cavolfiore, potatoes, they were all very very good. They rennovated this location and reopened a couple of months ago, they also have another location in Chelsea but if someone asks me for authentic italian bread, focaccia, bombolini & pastries, this is the place to be!
I love baker Jim Lahey's bread books, so visiting his bakery is a real treat. The sweet and savory pastries are a great way to start of the morning on your visit to Times Square. True to form, some of his pizzas are straight out of the cookbooks.
Very tasty bread, croissants, cookies, etc. in a comfortable setting. Bustling but you don’t feel rushed if you want to linger. Super friendly staff. The owner Jim Lahey developed the “no-knead” bread technique. The egg in the egg sandwich has an odd texture.
Damn good croissants! This place is the best I've had in SF. NY lady loves and has a taste for good croissants and she gives this place a big thumbs up. I was surprised to find the bakery is on the order of years old, but wow did they get the flaky, buttery, oh so delicious croissants right. There is often a line, but moves fast! Not much seating inside or out, but you can easily take the croissants to go. Love it.
Smartest move by management to expand. Great breads, soups and sandwiches. Fantastic workers.
This is some of the most amazing bread and lentil soup I've ever had! I missed the name of the extremely knowledgeable (immediately knew what available was vegan) and kind employee- he closed today (3/29). Fantastic experience overall.
Best bread! So tasty:) Coffee is also just perfect for me
Great food and helpful staff in an immaculate environment
Best Bakery in America. Hands down. Best Pastry Creator and Chef, Jacqui Spiegel. Now - America's got real talent!!! Hands down to you for the plethora of the top 5 star restaurants you personally deliver their bread daily!
Omg, this place makes me cry with joy!
Nice bakery and cafe in a secluded street. Good quality bread on offer. Filled rolls etc looked very appetising. The brioche l had was very tasty. Cake selection good also. Service friendly and nice place to hangout to read the newspaper. Seating outside - bench. If very busy there is another coffee house up the road that looks good.
The chocolate croissant was pretty good. Baguette was a bit sour. But I like it. I would like to try some other breads next time
Fresh breads and pastries, eating area enlarged. I found the raisin nut bread strangely spicy. Each bread has a “name” that does not let you know what type of flour or starter etc is in it. I find this pretentious and annoying. You can get miniature versions of many breads. The Italian donuts filled with different flavored custards are a treat.
Great bread! Great sweet treats! Great sandwiches! You cant go wrong!
For a bakery they have a great balance between savory and sweet options. There is literally something for everyone all at high quality.
George Howell coffee ✔️ & the best carbohydrates on Manhattan ✔️.
Rhubarb and goat cheese cookie, and the blackberry and mango treat were tasty. Didn't get to have their esteemed bombalonis, unfortunately.
If you like bread or real pizza do NOT miss this spot. A short walk from Times Sq. The Pizza Bianca is fantastic as are the many varieties of pizza and little pastries. I make it a point visit every time I'm in NYC.
Great place to pick up bombolini (the vanilla one is the best, but seasonal fruit fillings are also offered). Delicious savory sandwiches and sweet pastries are great for weekend brunches! Stop by early for the best selection.
Good donut
i caught it just before a new batch came out and it was still pretty tasty. get it fresh if you can.
It is too hard to try things here. The food looks amazing and tastes great but it is absurdly expensive. Tiny breakfast sandwiches were being sold for around $10?? That blew my mind. If I can go to a bagel shop and get an enormous fresh baked breakfast sandwich for around $5 there is no way I would ever even consider the sandwiches here.
Wow! The best bread in NYC. If I know there is a need for bread with dinner, I make sure to take on that responsibility and stop here. I always receive praise for bringing such amazing bread with me.
Beautiful setting down a small street. The brownies are absolutely delicious and the coffee was also great. Friendly staff, too! I'd recommend visiting here for a rest if in the area.
Best bread and breakfast sandwiches ever!
one of the best places for bread. tiny but efficient. a good place to go for a bite if you crave bread after a long bike ride by the river. and it's inexpensive.
Simply the best. This bakery serves super fresh and tasty breads and little pastries. You could eat a whole loaf as soon as you get it. Their winter soups are also delicious. They are a bit pricy however.
Tasty food and great service, worth a detour
Never had a cold sandwish this good. Pizza is amazing, again, cold is fine. Excellent coffee. Lovely dessert.
I always enter Sullivan Street Bakery with the intention of trying new things but I always leave with a slice of the Bianca bread. The light, porous, and bubbly flatbread is accented by olive oil, coarse sea salt, and rosemary. It pairs well with fancy wines and charcuterie plates but you can also rip it apart in your mouth like a savage.
Best pastries ever!
Relax and cozy atmosphere with delicious pastry and bread - the ciabatta sandwich is tasty and well balanced
First time in and like to try it again the donuts are not cheap $4 but this is not Dunkin donuts and everything looks great in this place and the coffee smelled really good .
A really solid bakery all around. Even the simplest items taste divine.
Fresh bread, good coffee and a great selection of sweet and savory treats
Great flat breads. Try the potato/tomato kind. The thicker tomato bread is good as well. Great coffee. Friendly people. Must try if you're around!
Good stuff
Excellent bread and chocolate bon bons
Everything i have eaten there is awesome and so is the staff!
Loved it
Great focaccia bread. Unfortunately they changed recipes of the granola and croissants.
I was able to try goat cheese and rhubarb cookie, a blackberry mango filled desert and a raspberry bomboloni. They were unique in flavor and decent, but it was pricey for the size.
Freshest bread and pastry in the whole of NYC. Absolutely delicious breakfasts and coffee! Cool vibe and simple design, but actually it's all about food here! Perfect spot for a brunch with friends & family. Definitely a must try!
I cannot believe I found AUTHENTIC bomboloni in my neighborhood in NYC! I was born and raised in Italy, specifically in the region where bomboloni are from, and the cream bomboloni (the original flavor) taste the same! No extra sugar, no cinnamon, none of the other stuff that they usually add here in the U.S. and ruins everything. Not giving five stars only because the chocolate bomboloni are not that good, and I’d like to give a suggestion: in Italy the chocolate bomboloni are actually with Nutella inside. I think your customers would love it if you offered that option too.
The best bread in NYC, hands down. Their "pizza" slices are a great snack or light lunch. try the zucchini and potato. The sesame bread is one of my favorites to take home for dinner. If you bake, make sure you try the owner's no-knead bread recipe at home. It will forever change the way you make bread.
AMAZING PLACE! I come here during work for lunch or a snack, and their Tuna sandwich special is amazing. Please make this a regular! It has the best lemon oil dressing, pickled onion, and the right amount of salt with the tuna and bread... could have one everyday. Their baked goods are awesome too, just wish the price was lower.
I do not give many five star ratings... But this gets one. Had breakfast here, and seriously YOU CANNOT GO WRONG. Just pick something. It's ALL good. You will not be disappointed in any of it. Got to meet Jim Lahey as well... What could be better?!?!??!?! My favorite meal of our trip, just when I was least expecting it.
Nice little bakery with great customer service.
Cute little bakery and coffee shop. The iced cappuccino is delicious and the baristas are very friendly.
Amazing products very artisan and with a italian twist. it's more about salty food than sweet treats and I love that because french bakeries focus in sweet stuff
Wonderful bakery selling Italian inspired breads and pastries. The man who served me was amazingly friendly especially as I visited at 7AM on a Sunday and he told me he wasn't supposed to be working until 9AM! The baguette, croissant and pan au chocolate I bought were delicious as was the bit of the focaccia he encouraged me to try. A must visit if you are in Hell's Kitchen!
The absolute best!! An egg sandwich and raspberry donut has become our usual Saturday breakfast. Best latte I've had in the city!
As a novice baker I can really appreciate the master craftsmanship here. Worth going out of my way every time I'm in New York.
Pricing was a bit strange, some high, some low. Good quality however. Great storefront with lots of seating available
Great place with amazing sandwiches
One of the best bakeries in NYC!! Big loafs of old world bread and an assortment of beautifully crafted pastries, breakfast, and lunch options! I’ve been coming here every day for the last two years and have never had a bad experience. Britney at the desk is extremely helpful and kind! They take Apple pay too!
The foccacia pizza made me want to move in next door.
Every single piece of pastry is made with love.
Amazing focaccia!! We got one of each, and they’re all great and vegetarian!! Yum!
Delicious! We ate breakfast here (take out and sit in) a few days over our Christmas holiday trip. Great selection of breads and pastries and something for all tastes.
Small selection of fresh baked goods. The chocolate bomboloni is delicious and the sourdough Pullman loaves are great. Service is inconsistent. Sometimes you're greeted immediately and other times it's as if you don't exist.
Perfect helthy breakfast, a bit pricey but you pay what you get!
After moving to South Florida, I found that I had kept the menus - see photos - in Googling, I am happy to see that they are opening a Miami location and have agreements with Michelle Bernstein of crumbs on parchment and a few other distributors down here. Zak the Baker is about to have some serious competition. The "pizza" was amazing, as were the bombolini. The mango basil sandwich was one of thr best things I ever ate.
This guy knows his stuff. His breads are made with skill, and have a distinct personality. One of the best bread bakers in the world. If you'd like dessert, pick up his chocolate torta. Very unique texture, and delicious.
The best croissant I've ever had outside of France.
Our neighborhood guy who used to work the counter, Clovis, was a speed demon, has been around less often. The new crew knows less about the bread, are slower, and the general ambience of the place is now a snooty Manhattan bake shop rather than the Hell's kitchen hang out it once was. Great if you're from out of the neighborhood and need ten loaves of bread for the week, not so much a quick bite to start your morning anymore.
High quality, expensive.
Best bakery! Their breakfast sandwiches and breads are delicious. The raspberry donut is delectable if you are in the mood for something sweet. The new interior is cozy and nice to hang out in.
Walked 10 blocks and not to many choices
Good espresso, plenty of space, very friendly server.
Anything here is amazing. Sandwiches are a little pricey at $8, but you are eating every dollar. Fresh bread, unlike any other bakery in NYC. I'd say the bread here is better than Amy's Bread... Dessert options are tasty too.
Having prepared no knead bread for years, this bakery was a must on my eats list. We stopped in for our daily breakfast pastry. The croissant with vanilla glaze was top notch. The vanilla cream doughnut really was the star of the show. The breads all looked interesting but very darkly baked. Perhaps New Yorkers like their bread dark.
Amazing breads. Love the pizza and the sesamo loaf.
A hidden gem that shines in the shadows of hotel Ink48 in Midtown New York. Bakery offers a great selection of pizzas that you normally don't find in any Pizzeria's or even authentic Italian restaurants. I tried their thin and crispy crust pizza with mushrooms, olives, onions, olive oil, and sea salt. The crust was absolutely perfect and the toppings tasted divine.
Had good coffee + local kombucha, read a paper, & had a yummy bread thing stuffed with greens.
Great baked goods and excellent espresso coffee
A must visit. Fantastic bread. Good coffee. Breakfast was very pricey, but worth every penny.
Great little bakery, offering a range of excellent artisan Italian-style breads, as well as pre-prepared options such as pizzas.
Very good bakery. Had lunch cauliflower bread, and came back for breakfast. Good coffee
First go for tacos then make yourself happy with some sweet. Pick chocolate or vanilla, it doesn’t matter.
Best pastries I've ever eaten, the coffee is nothing to write home about. The only bad thing is they occasionally overcook things and of course they do run out. They'll gladly tell you when a new batch will be ready though.
Best croissant and coffe in town
Awesome!
Some of the best bread in New York, no doubt about it. Stop in for a coffee and treat, then buy a loaf to take home!
Best bread on the Westside
Good food and coffee. Friendly staff
I had a brownie and a little tart. It was good, but a bit pricey like much of the city. Also I didn't like the brownie that much.
Nice place
They sincerely make bread with love and respect.
Loved the potato pizza when I used to go to the original Sullivan St location.
My favorite bakery in NYC.
Great pastries. Open at 7am on a Sunday too!
This is how you do bread. Thank you Jim Lahey for showing me the way in your books, but there's absolutely no way I can re-create what you do in your shops thanks to the skill of your bakers & temperatures of your ovens. I'll always stop here when I'm in the neighborhood.
Always great!
The bread here is flavorful, fresh, and some of the best I've had. I'm not sure which was my favorite the prosciutto or the soft boiled egg or the vegetable. Each sandwich tasted better than the one before.
I love this place!
Great bread. Great breakfast. Yummy tea. Excellent pastries.
Amazing hidden gem!
A must stop! Some of the best pastries!!
This is my favorite bakery in Manhattan. The bread quality is simply amazing, you'll want to come back to try them all. Also for breakfast/brunch try the mushroom and the zucchini flatbread.
Decent place. Bread looked great. Had a small lunch sandwich and a chocolate pastry.
Yummy times infinity. Please make authentic, Bavarian-style pretzels!!!!
Truly excellent baked goods great croissants and fantastic bombolone, but after their latest price increase it's getting a little out of hand. I can't speak for the bread but I can't justify the pastries any more.
The best kombuchua I have Everest drink and the bread is fantastic believe a french citizen
Very nice little bakery with quality bread and snacks like sandwiches. They offer a choice of good coffee and fresh juices.
Always such a nice place to stop for a snack, breakfast, coffee, bread, lunch etc!!! It is so clean AND quiet in the middle of crazy Hell's Kitchen!!!
As someone else already said it - it's simply the best.
Phenomenal bakery we found by chance after getting off a cruise ship. Everything they make here is excellent including the coffee!
Strangely about a year ago, we first heard of Sullivan at an excellent restaurant out in Princeton, NJ.Waitress was kind enough to tell us they get their bread from Sullivan. A quick google search revealed owner Jim Lahey's success story was everything I love and support about NYC (sculptor turn baker). Now one year later, Wifey and I get our bread from here almost every week. We walk down from the 90th street to the bakery 'cuz we know we are going to carbo-load for the next hour. We mainly buy any of their sourdoughs and focaccia. I also love their roast beef sandwich!
The most traditional bakery in New York, any restaurant that serves good bread sources their bread from here. It is sad that co.pizza (their format pizza location on Chelsea closed) but you can still get the best focaccia in the world here and all kinds of breads you can imagine
Amazing!! Try the cauliflower flat bread-- you'll die.
Tasty pizza and bread-related goods.
After more than a year being closed for reconstruction, it is finally open. It is by far the best backery in Hell's kitchen and now it has a very pleasant new space to sit and enjoy your food. There is a variety of breads, sweet and savory pasties and some healthy juices, some variety of hot teas and coffee. All of the baked goods are baked in house and are quite delicious and fresh. Unfortunately, it is quite expensive, but for what I tried it seems worth it. No wifi either :((
First time here. Loved it. Bread was excellent. And the service was wonderful--we were offered samples.
Excellent hot chocolate!
Welcome back Sullivan St. Bakery!!! Reopened and remodeled, with a nice quiet space to sit and enjoy your bready goodness. The strecci is the best, try it if you haven't but be sure to leave one for me. Not for the gluten-free, SSB stands in firm opposition to your low carb diet. Try intermittent fasting instead. Simply the best bread anywhere anytime. Light fresh crunchy soft so so good. Not on Sullivan St but w47th! Another discovery thanks to #W42st. Really really great bread. Hands down. Interesting, small selection of other quasi-italian baked goods, all are fresh and deliciousness ranges on personal tastes as some combos are a little odd. The cold pizzas are excellent, try the potato pizza you won't regret it, though your waist might. Coffees and teas, only four seats inside and a bench outside for seating means you aren't likely to eat in. Service has always been friendly but you can walk into an empty shop and leave with a line down the block, so sometimes there's a wait.
Everyone is super friendly.
Coffee and the pizzas are delici. Barista is super friendly and it’s cosy as
Had a delicious slice of cauliflower pizza at the newly reopened bakery and can’t wait to try more items here!
Staff is so warm and friendly. Macchiato has been better than some local coffee shops. Italian donut was ok. Looking forward to trying more baked goods. Restrooms for customers is a plus especially in the city.
