I really enjoyed banan puddings. I hope to visit again...
Good desserts and cupcakes and friendly staff
Great Cake
Delicious cake and sweets. First time eating here and truly enjoyed the huge slice of cake I purchased. Will definitely be back. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Extremely rude sarcastic staff!!! The products sells itself ,but the staff are off the hook! They treat you like if you are not paying their salary!! Nasty, nasty oh yeah and nasty!!!
Staff at this place seems like they are not enjoying their job. The cashier handed us the bag with pastries that we bought, walked away, and did not even give us our receipt. We tried their lemon bar and it was good. Hot chocolate was okay. I like the decor of this place!
Everything is made fresh.
Their cakes taste good but are way too sweet. Their buttercreams are definitely way too sweet, but the variety of sweets are a plus.
Can you say Banana Pudding? Well they have the best!!
Quick and courteous service but the cupcake was smeh.
Honesty the food here is spectacular! The brownies are amazing, but the customer service definitely is lacking. Always one manager/team leader in her phone and just talking while there’s one line girl on the register who does her best and is fantastic but the rest of her team is just standing around doing nothing. Not fair to let one person do all the work here.
The banana pudding is very good, but they really need to organize the ordering process. It's a mess and the staff is not trying to make it work.
My son favorite spot for cup cake. The cake is spongy and moist even you eat it a day or two later.
Do not leave with out taking a tub of banana pudding to go you will regret it, as do I currently. Chai latte was mothing special save your money for an extra tub of banana pudding! Absolutely phenomenal!
Delicious banana pudding
The Banana Pudding is incredible
A warm bakery chain that has sweet icing. My fave is their hot chocolate that is rich in flavor and worth the wait. It's a little cafe so you can get a seat and hang out a bit to chat and meet friends. I like the atmosphere here because you don't find people just hanging out to use the WIFI. They also bake seasonal cupcakes and special orders.
Great selection of cakes!
Cupcakes were gross!! I was craving for a red velvet cupcake and since my office is around here, I decided to pick 2 up from Magnolia tonight. The cupcake were both dry and the frosting is not the classic cream cheese but this gross thick cream. Absolutely disgusting. I took two bites from the first one. I thought it was just a fluke one. How can a bakery mess up on such a classic flavor cupcake right? Take a bite from the 2nd one... and tossed out the box. NEVER AGAIN. Red velvet cupcakes should taste like the ones from Georgetown or Two Little Red Hens. The two stars are for the nice young man behind the counter. He was polite and helpful.
If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place
They have the best baked goods. There banana pudding is amazing
Nothing special about the cupcakes. Cupcakes are very dry and the frosting had too much butter. Tried 6 flavors with the caramel and hummingbird being the best. Try Two Little Red Hens instead.
Did not purchase anything. Was sitting in waiting area until Bloomingdales open.
Amazing banana pudding!
Delicious cupcakes and chocolate banana puddings
Their banana pudding is to die for! I can seriously be addicted to it. Mouth watering good.
I pop in here when I'm nearby to get the banana pudding for my wife. Hits the spot every time!
Love this place, the employees are so knowledgeable about the cakes and everything looks delish. Banana pudding is where it's at, and the cheese Cake is to die for.
I cannot express more the ease Magnolia Bakery offers from start to finish. Easy to order with great customer service. Pick up is the smoothest process ever. First bakery I go where I don't have someone with an attitude and aside from that they take the time to inform you what your cake needs(refrigeration) etc. And the taste! AMAZING!
Banana Pudding and Banana Pie are out of this world!
Not so testy
The cashiers are rude and they rush you, this location is small and a few times the cupcakes have been so dry and stale. I only go to this location because it’s the closest to me but I might have to try another location because I love their cakes and pudding
Can you say Banana Pudding? Well they have the best!! The location on 3rd Ave is my favorite because the shop is smaller and never really too crowded.
The 2 stars are only for the cashier that worked yesterday 10/26 around noon. She was the only nice person in the bakery. Everyone was pretty rude upon entrance along with a young man who helped me get two vanilla cupcakes (difficult I know) When I asked if there were other colored cupcakes besides for the black and orange Halloween themed ones, He kept telling me to “ look “ when I asked him what other colors were available. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see what colors because the tray that was pastel was the first tray and it was covered by the wood piece of the counter, and he rudely just kept saying “look there” and “it’s right over there”. I just gave up and said take your pick because I can’t see. I have worked in a cupcake cafe for 12 years and I would NEVER speak to anyone how I was spoken to. What management fails to understand is these people represent your brand and you are not cool for being Rude. This should be a requirement of every employee at any place that is selling dessert.
I bought a cake for my mom's birthday it tasted really bad no way it's fresh at all and bought it a day before we ate it . It tasted like it was full of sugar and very stail has bad flavor I whose not recommend it at all. And it was very pricey
Very good product and nice environment.. but the prices are very expensive
If you want to order coffee and cake you'll have to wait in two different lines (first for the coffee and then for the cake) and pay for everything at the end. This is very slow and chances are that a lot of people gets in the line of the cakes (by far the most popular product) while you are waiting for your coffee. There are no tables, just a little couch (max 3) which is often used by people to eat and drink, so don't count with it if you want to stay in the place.
Best banana pudding EVERRRRR!!!!
The star of the show over here is the chocolate banana pudding. I remember tasting that for the first time-- every bite was just as divine as the first. The original banana pudding is also pretty good, but I prefer the brownie bits or oreo bits or whatever it is that's mixed in. The cupcakes and cheesecakes are also pretty darn good, but it gets pricey. There's always a super long line here, sometimes the line is out the door. But is it worth it? HECK YEAH, THAT PUDDING IS ADDICTIVE. I havent tried the cookies or brownies here, but they do have sample pieces out sometimes. Be quick when they do give out samples, people are selfish savages that grab 4 or 5 samples for themselves.
Seriously. Best. Banana. Pudding. Ever.
The banana pudding/banana cream pie is to die for.
Inside of Bloomingdales bet E.59&60 Sts.Typical, but good cupcakes, cakes & little gourmet pastries. The banana pudding is great! Place is a quick stop spot 4 desserts, cold & hot beverages. Its mostly standing room and a small LOW sitting love seat at the front entrance. Don't forget to check ur bag if ur purchasing multiple items. One girl forget 2put my $7.50 cheesecake n the bag
Banana budding is the winner
Fancy
Reception was not that great ,but the cupcakes were awesome
Try the red velvet cupcake one. Regarding layout , the place is extremely cramped ,it’s better to order to go and get your coffee from Gregory’s ❤️. The service is always good, this is my favourite place to stop by for a quick sweet treat on the go. The caramel one is a bit sweet but worth it. Prices are ok due to location and good quality products they use in their recipes.
Best Cheesecake.
Real banana taste! I think you should eat with coffee.
I was very disappointed in the salted caramel banana pudding. There was way too much salt. It just tasted like salt pudding. I have have gotten their classic vanilla banana pudding and chocolate banana pudding and was very impressed. The salted caramel was just a major disappointment.
Their banana pudding is excellent, however the waiting line is too long & the staff is not nice at all.
Disappointing. Love cupcakes and came here with high hopes, which were sorely dashed. We're I a Shakespearean heroine, I would have retired to my boudoir and ingested poison. Thankfully, I'm a rational modern day woman not prone to unrealistic hysteria. So, I just chalked it up to me getting a bad sense of the quality based on reviews, and decided to help fix that problem. If you're overly dramatic or disappointment hits you hard, into this bakery, you should not tread. If you're into mediocre at high prices, this is your kind of place.
It is a small place to enjoy a good coffee in the middle of the city. Some items are overpriced.
I love the banana pudding cake
Grab and go style. The cakes are the most delicious item on the menu, and best bang for your buck. Cupcakes used to be better, and have become a little too commercial in production and appearance. Glad this place is in the area. It’s a much better dessert than what is offered in the nearby restaurants.
Banana pudding was really good, would definitely recommend
My sister bought the banana pudding from magnolia bakery that got my hooked! Normally I wouldn't eat anything with banana in it but they made it in a way that it tastes creamy with bits of cake to make it amazing and I love it! The only thing is that is pricey and expensive. Other than that if you can afford it, enjoy it! It's a treat
Manager was rude. I asked an associate that I saw dipping up fresh banana pudding if I can have a fresh large cup with extra cookies which Rockefeller location always accommodates me without a problem. The associate turned and asked the manager and she replied “No!” with an attitude. I purchased it but that’s the last time I’ll be in that location.
Love the cheesecake, hummingbird cake and banana pudding
VERY DISAPPOINTING
Cupcakes are decent, regular size. Frosting is clearly the more tasty part, and the cake base itself is fluffy, not too dry or wet. Expensive, as expected for Manhattan. Would not say they were worth the cost. Some of the employees definitely do not seem like they want to be there, partially understandable given the high volume of traffic, but it's a pity the attitude of some spoil the hard work of the rest.
Delicious brownies and blondies!
My daughter was excited to go back to Magnolia bakery but this time it was very disappointing! We ordered two different kinds of cupcakes both were very dried out. The red velvet frosting was like cool whip. Chocolate cupcake the frosting was good but that was the only good part . The cake part tasted old and dry.
Positives: awesome awesome banana pudding, you have to try it, the original only. Packaging is cute and they didn't say anything about me ordering with my dog which is a big bonus. Unfortunately lots of negatives: there's nothing savory available here which is disappointing, only super sweet things. Of course, it's overpriced! The staff are not nice, they look overworked and miserable, a stark contrast to Bloomingdales helpful kind faces. The line was long, the floor was dirty - covered in food & there's very little seating, they need to add more. Still worth trying their famous dessert though!
Gimme sugar!" cry "the faithful" at this wildly "popular" West Village "destination" and its spin-offs around town, "cute", "old-fashioned" bakeries that "still rule" with "luscious" cupcakes "like June Cleaver used to bake" topped with "oh-so-buttery" pastel frosting sweet enough to "make your teeth ring", plus other "goodies" like "out-of-this-world" banana pudding; you may have to join the "tourists waiting in line" to experience the Bleecker Street original's "charm", but the other locations "don't have the crazy crowds."
Disappointing experience! First of all the place is in a random corner area full of dust. The products are freshly made as you can see from the glass kitchen windows, but the ingredients are not good qualities. The red velvet cheesecake had whipped cream on top! Coffee is acceptable a part from the price! My suggestion is to stay away from it. Too expensive for what they offer
I loved it, it was the best experience ever! The cake was great and I'd definitely be back here again... I actually went twice while in new york. You got to try the coconut cake YUM-0
Located on the UES and inside Bloomingdales. Cupcake and cheesecakes are amazing but my weakness is their banana pudding. The magic banana pudding has chocolate and coconut bits and it’s simply amazing!
It's worth every single little penny. The banana pudding have to try it. Unfortunately they even charge you for a cup of water
Lots of great food
Very nice place
Dessert is delicious, but this store can't sit, so I suggest you can go to other stores.
What a good spot for a bakery! Though Bloomingdale's might not be open, the doors to the bakery are. Cute cupcakes adorned with an artistic swirling of frosting are what got my attention. Be aware that they might be limited in what goods are available on-hand at any time because, well, it's a bakery. But if you do go, enjoy the finer points of frosting swirling from one of the professional bakers there and go get some coffee and other baked goods, too.
banana pudding ftw. sometimes it's crowded here but that's expected
The cheesecake was perfectly simple and for a southerner it's hard to fall for banana pudding outside of the south but I will say Magnolia Bakery is doing it right for these Yankees! Was so glad we went to the Bloomingdales location after we saw the original locations line!!
Nice bakery
The smell, the coffee, the bakery, the taste...just OMG. A feast for eyes, nose and tongue
Excellent tasting. Good service.
I went to Magnolias thinking that it was the "real deal". I was wrong. As soon as I walked in I saw a huge queue and not enough space. I ordered a Mocha which was fair. Then I looked at their products on display. Nothing looked fresh, there were only 3 different flavor cupcakes that were mainly aimed at kids (multi-coloured cupcakes with sprinkles) and the classic red velvet, cookies that looked hard, and pretty carelessly assembled layer cakes. For a bakery that promotes itself as being the best, it certainly did not look like it. The only appealing treats that I saw were their pies and other products that they are not renowned for, but by that time I was quite annoyed and left. I went to Sprinkles instead, and had a much better experience there!
Good cheese cake
Banana pudding it was not. It was bland whipped cream with under ripened bananas and some Nila wafers. The wafers are the reason I’m giving it any stars.
Great Taste of food very observative clean nice
Very good cheese cake and pastries
Rude ...staff of street crud .. .bad service by the dogs of hell. Make sure you have a rabies shot... Too bad because the product ...is delicious
So I passed by Sunday at 9:53 am and it wasn’t open despise it saying on google maps that it opens at 8am. I passed when I was heading back home and ordered the banana pudding and 2 cupcakes and a iced coffee. The iced coffee was meh but the pudding is so good I got the large which I believe was $7.25 but my whole order was $18 and some change that’s expensive lol
I dont know how you could go here and not get the best banana pudding ever. Just yummy every time. The staff was nice and service was quick
Foods great, staff is great in the context, but the basic organization of this place makes no sense at all. There are like tons of little stations where it’s unclear who is working what and there is a sign that says “line here”, when there’s functionally like 3 or more lines. The whole organization of lines and stations makes no sense to make and I actually bonded with complete strangers over our mutual confusion over the whole thing. Please rearrange or clarify the space!
get the pudding
Just had a chai. Didn't taste like usual chai. Not bad as well. Just different.
I love Magnolia Bakery especially the puddings and cake. But staff are rude as hell.
Great neighborhood french bakery with fresh bread, pastries, sandwiches, coffee.
We visited this branch, the cheesecake is yummy but feel disappointed bec.the girls iciing the cupcakes are keep on talking, they dont have the mouth cover, their saliva might splash in the cupcakes they are doing...
I've heard a lot about this place and was very excited to try it! I found their ordering system somewhat confusing. There is not a clear menu for the baked goods, so it was hard to assess options and costs. The displays are very cute. I went in the early afternoon and there were several things they were sold out of for the day. I had a slice of caramel cake and it was only so so. The cheesecake is really great!
Quick in and out. I tried the reeses pieces banana pudding.
They have the best desserts. The banana pudding is pretty good. The cupcakes were amazing. My only complaint is they are a little pricey. And they need more variety of cupcakes. The other issue every time I go they're out of the most popular desserts but I guess that can't be helped LOL they have something like a hummingbird cake that is amazing.
Super friendly and helpful employees. And the food is AMAZING
Excellent cakes and cupcakes. Not the best coffee around.
Worst delivery policy ever! Dont order gifts online from this place. They sent a delivery at a time we were at a show (no phones allowed) - 6 cupcakes for 50 usd!! Incl delivery fees. They arrived at the bldg (without us expecting)- the lobby called once no answer. And they left! They claim their policy is not to leave the package of cupcakes for pick up nor at the package room in our bldg or outside of our Apt. actually they say once they tried once- the person receiving the package has until the end of the day to pick up from the store (mind u a gift that was unexpected!!) or it is thrown out. Nothing of this sort is written on the actual invoice- Magnolia claims is written in their general policy. After arguing with the manager on the phone- they were offering 4 cup cakes instead of 6 with self pick up and NO REFUND as a possibility. The manager was rude and abrupt. I suggest NEVER EVER to buy these cup cakes with this kind of behavior and I sont care if they taste good or not- it all should start with positive and respectful customer service
Banana pudding....no words! I mean its just ridiculously good.
No questions asked fresh coffee for the ride home stayed warm and fresh every step of the way. And the red velvet delicious.
Very good freshly brewed black coffee here! Also, try the lemon tart! Be aware - there is no seating. There are couple of standing places to grab a quick bite, but no chairs at all.
Simply put the banana pudding is to die for, if you go there you must have it
MUST TRY! These are one of my top 5 cupcakes, always fresh, cupcake to frosting ratio is perfection and the staff is always pleasant.
Long line. only 1 person talking customer and rest of 3 other workers just standing behind the counter doing nothing. Why?
This is a tradition I have every time I am in NYC or Chicago is to go to Magnolias and get the banana pudding. It IS AMAZING! I have told so many friends to go there and try it and even the ones who don't like sweets still love this one! Always very kind employees as well.
So deliciuos pastries !! Apple cranberry walnut muffin my favorite
I went to the Magnolia Bakery on the UWS but they didn't have any cakes to sell? They were rude and didn't try to accommodate me. I needed it for my friends birthday. I then went to this location, they had plenty of cakes and even let me put happy birthday. Such friendly staff and now always going to come here instead. Thank you ladies!
Awful service. Was standing there for a while and nobody came over. When one of the sales people showed up, she started at the end of the line ignoring my request. Not the first time have issues with their service and the store is in Bloomingdales and a lot of us customers there!!! Awful bakery to have in the premium department store.
NYC best banana pudding
I love the baked goods at magnolia. The chocolate banana pudding is good, even if I'm not a banana person. I love their red velvet cake also. There are some very nice servers too.
Two words, banana pudding. Get it and enjoy, stays on the mind for days.
I’ve had a lot of yummy desserts at this place, but the chocolate truffle cake was quite dry. I recommend everything except that slice
Everything here is delicious but very overpriced
A very delicious display that unfortunately isn't vegan. :( The staff however is very positive, and if you show up around 3 pm, you can see them decorating the baked goods. Don't just grab a cupcake and go! Make sure to grab a coffee too :)
Try the banana pudding. Like, yesterday.
i've been a fan of Magnolia bakery and religiously patronizing them for the past 4 years until today, I spoke to this rude girl named ATIATANA? she sounds like she hates her job and super annoyed every time i ask questions.
Workers are unhelpful and unfriendly. Second time visiting this location within the past year and both experiences were disappointing. For how much a cupcake/banana pudding costs, service shouldn't be this poor.
I usually love this place, but today was terrible. There was a young man with glasses and a beard, and was approximately 5’6. He was so rude! A young lady in front of me asked him if the cupcakes were warm. He said “if they were warm the butter cream frosting would melt; they were baked this morning, if that is what you are asking” in the rudest tone ever! When I asked if I could move ahead because I was just getting banana pudding; he answered “it’s just one line for everything!” Mind you, that is usually what they do. If you are getting just banana pudding you can go straight to the register, as others in front of you might have complicated cupcake orders. Long story short, he was rude, I don’t know why. Maybe. He was having a bad day. Whatever it was, it doesn’t warrant a sarcastic attitude; it’s not cute. Be kind to your customers.
Delicious, fluffy cupcakes! Mini red velvet cheesecake is out of this world.
The best customer service, they are always willing to accommodate the customer. Specially when asking for specialty products like Gluten free items. My experience at this Magnolia bakery location in Bloomingdale is always excellent. THANK YOU!
Best cupcakes to my mind and actually good cakes as well (for birthdays and so on). Great atmosphere too.
I did love their cupcakes the vanilla lavender was my husband and my favorite, but I wish I could have seen a full list of their cupcakes. I may have gotten more.
A must when visiting NYC! Can be crowded. Signs needed listing cupcakes available. Yum!!! Hummingbird!!
Like the other locations, staff looks miserable and ignores you.
Love the Banana Pudding! Don’t miss it.
Love the cupcakes from here. They are on the more expensive side and they are busy when I go. This means that the line might be long. I do believe that these cupcakes are worth it because the frosting is so outstandingly good.
Good cake and at least a few choices for gluten free. But the hair in our cake and the lack of decaf coffee at 5:30 pm is rather moronic. They stop making decaf at 11am. Ok must make sense to someone...
Amazing cakes and puddings
I love their banana pudding and it’s the only thing I get normally . I didn’t like , however , that while I was waiting in line there were flies on the cupcakes located at the front . I did not find it sanitary .
Food was really nice. I strongly recommend this place for cup cakes. The employees are also good. I had a gift card for Magnolia and the guy who was there at the cashier was not updated at the gift card and he was struggling with that.
The. Banana. Pudding. Divine!
Great banana pudding but the cupcakes have gotten pricey yet small. Not worth it to me. Staff is rude and not attentive, with the exception of the cashier.
They have a delicious chocolate chunk cookie and a delicious Banana Pudding. They have other great treats, coffee & tea.
Looked nice from the outside, but the queue was too long for us to get in.
The banana bread pudding is awesome. A bit on the pricey side, but memorable.
So tasty cupcakes and the best one in New York City.
The red velvet cupcake was creamy and perfect. Best to go after shopping since your hands will get sticky. Bring wipes or hand sanitizer to clean your hands.
Warm little bakery situated at the entrance of Bloomingdales where you can get variety of baked goodies or just grab a cuppa
First time in NYC, wanted to try based on reviews. Go somewhere else!!! The cupcakes were very dry. Three different kinds and we tasted and threw them away!! Red velvet had whipped topping!!, not cream cheese!!
The cupcake was OK, but the hot chocolate and coffe were awful. The hot chocolate was made with syrup and so thin. Probably should not have drinks in the bakery.
This what an American bakery looks and tastes like....only the best!!!!
Good cupcakes but a little too much frosting.
I absolutely love magnolia bakery, try the bread pudding! To die for
So darn YUM- just like its done in the South- if not better. The small is a crime (not enough
The best cakes!
A city classic and among the many outlets strewn all over the nyc, this one inside Bloomingdale's is my favorite. Maybe because they never run out of their red velvet cheesecakes-which is my favorite. Banana pudding is another thing that Magnolia Bakery has perfected, and it's another favorite of mine. The place isn't exactly cheap, and sometimes, the cupcakes don't always live up to my expectations, but as long as they have their banana pudding and red velvet cheesecake on the menu, you can count on me to return.
Must be getting old my fave pudding was too sweet.
Had an enjoyable experience here. Staff was amazing and courteous and service was pretty quick, even for a relatively long line. Ended up getting a cupcake whilst my cousin got the famed banana pudding. The cupcake was mediocre at best. Not to be too critical but it was like any other boxed cupcake. Kinda went stale like cardboard with frosting on it. The banana pudding was as expected, delicious. The hot chocolate was decent too, although, I did think the worker there could have pulled his pants up some and not mooned everyone who made an order...so the drink itself was ruined :p
Really great spot! My kids love the brownie and cookies
