Holtermans Bakery is pretty much a historic bakery on Staten Island. They've been around for many years, mainly because everything they bake is fantastic. They used to have delivery trucks when l was a kid in the 60s, but no longer do. A must visit

Staten Island institution. i’ve been coming here for 48 years, although in the early years they came to us. Cream filled cupcakes are one of their signature items. This is a comfort bakery, not a gourmet bakery. if you keep that in mind and value the nostalgia, it’s tops.

I grew up in Brooklyn, in the ‘60s. A favorite memory was a 10cent pastry, called a Charlotte Russe. I moved to Wisconsin in 1982, but have family in NYC. I looked on the web , and seems like Holtermann’s is the only bakery still making them. I took two subways, a ferry, a bus, a train, and walked a mile to get to Holtermann’s. It was worth it. Tasted as good as I remembered.

if I could give this place 6 stars I would. I grew up on holtermans. When friends come in from out of state, I am required to go here for their sourdough bread. IT IS DEMANDED. For the person complaing that two pies and then a few other items costed 22 dollars, I mean, seriously? If you want a 5 dollar pie, go buy pre-boxed grocery store shlock.

Stopped in over the weekend after moving away for many years. It was so nice to see somethings were the same while so much else has changed. Holtermann's remains a SI icon and continues to provide delicious baked goods as a local neighborhood family owned bakery that, sadly, is something that rarely exists anymore. The service was friendly and efficient, and the selection wide. It was difficult to choose, but everything we bought was fresh, delicious and brought back memories of what baked goods should be.

By far the best bakery in New York......no B.S.. don't believe me. Go try their Saint Joseph Pastries or jelly donuts or any pies. I love pineapple pie but that is seasonal. Place has been around for over 100 years. Thank you Holtermann's

BUYER BEWARE!! Most of the danishes, cheese buns, pastries, cakes, meltaway candies, and fruit bars now have artificial flavors added to their foods. The only good news is that the pies and the cookies have natural ingredients and have no artificial flavors added. And thereby I bought the cookies and the pies and they tasted great. I hope that they don't add artificial flavors to their other foods in their bakery in the near future.
