We came to this place after we had some Ramen at Hide Chen which is a block away. It is a small cute place. They have a few tables at the entrance and a bar sitting area. Their specialty are eclairs with different fillings. From coffee to hazelnut to banana. My favorite has been the hazel nut. The eclairs are not the only good thing here. They also have very tasty apple and pear tarts and macaroons. What surprised me was also their amazing iced cappuccino. They also have iced tea, which was great. They open pretty early and close late (7-9pm). Overall great little place tucked away in midtown upper east side.

I work near Eclair and had walked by it a few times, thinking I should go one day. Finally I did this week. It's easy to miss as it's not on the busiest stretch of E 53rd, but once inside it's so cozy. I was struck right away by the beautiful colors of the pastries, from the bright colors of the glazes (not sure that's the right word) atop the eclairs to the brown flaky bodies of the turnovers and others. I tried the king's cake, which they told me was traditionally served on the French monarch's birthday. It was flaky like a croissant but had almond cream inside. Delicious and different! Will definitely return to try the eclairs.

Excellent eclairs and baked goods. My personal favorites include the caramel eclair and the St. Honore. The mini eclair sampler box is a good way to try a bunch of flavors or gift to friends. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it imo.

My girlfriend took me to this bakery for her Milk Chocolate Eclair (sorry she ate it before I could click a picture :P) and my eyes got fixated on this small and cute looking Strawberry Shortcake! The cream on top was gooey and delicious with a base of mashed berries. It wasn't overly sweet yet so satisfying. I would love to order 10 of these at once, they were so good!!

The caramel eclairs were my favorite, my husband loves the "crunchy" pastry (not an eclair, very chocolately). Eclairs are deliciously crisp and sweet on the outside, creamy soft and flavorful filling on the inside. Not to be missed!

Love the new look of Eclair!!! I have been coming here for a while and love their varieties of eclairs and pastry. My favorite sweet are Macha Eclair and Cheesecake Eclair. As for savory, their Ham and Cheese Croissant is one of the best. Their Macaroon is not bad...they serve truly French style pastry. With the new look, they will surely can accommodate more customers and it will be packed, for sure!

Picked up their Eclair sampler today, and every one we've tried so far has been incredible! The size of the mini eclairs is a perfect 2-3 bite dessert for when your sweet tooth has a craving!

Very freshly baked goods, quick counter service, they take cards, good vibe. My thought was that it would be a nice place to meet a Tinder date, as it has small tables for two, one side booth bench, other side chair. This means you don't have to be physically close to the person. It is also my impression that they would let you stay there for hours if you do like your date. Pretty central location, and near enough to the east river that you can take a walk after.

I miss French pastries especially since I just got back from my trip to France and I can't shake the smell of croissants and buttery canelle... Well, when I found Eclair, I was happy that someone is serving French pastries right! I do secretly wish it is cheaper because I was downing 1 EUR croissant on a daily basis while here I have to pay almost $3. Nonetheless, I tried their Caramel Eclair, which costs $4 a piece. Again, I wish it is a bit cheaper but I guess I am not in France, Am i? I can't complain about the taste and flavor though. It is intense, sweet but not overly sweet like most American desserts. One weird thing about here is there is no restroom. So make sure you take care of that before you think about desserts!

I enjoyed a great iced mocha and an amazing apple tart. The apple was tart and refreshing and the pastry was merely a conduit for the fruit. Very nice ratio!

This was a small bakery on the far midtown easy side. I was looking to pick up a few small desserts for a birthday party. The desserts (mix of an eclairs, cheesecake, tiramisu, pear tart) were good but the person at the register was rude and inefficient. When I asked if there was any more tiramisu she would just mutter under her breathe and roll her eyes. Generally not need to come here - there are other bakeries.

The menu prices are wrong. They were last year as well and haven't been corrected. Clearly they are just trying to make more money by charging $.25-$.50 more per item than listed. To make things worse, as I walking to the door (before I even left the store!) another customer barged in and knocked my drink out of my hand. They refused to replace it, despite seeing what happened. This is the second chance I gave this place and they failed miserably.

If you looking for fancy spacious places, then go to different cafe... If you need the best French coffee shop in Midtown East, then choose "Eclair bakery"

This place is such a wonderfully specific concept! I make sure to stop by whenever I'm in the area. They do a great job with the classics, but these days I get excited to try out their more inventive flavors. Not sure you want a whole matcha eclair? You're in luck, most all of their flavors come in miniature sizes too! All types of eclairs can sometimes sell out by the end of the day, which is especially true of the minis, so if you're dead set on trying out weird new flavors in a sise you can commit to I encourage you to go earlier in the day rather than later. They're open pretty early, but as a night owl I also really appreciate how late they're open, too! There's nothing quite like ending an evening after happy hour at a nearby bar with a delightful quirky confection.

I don't understand how you have a job in hospitality of you clearly don't have the attitude for it . This lady gave me such a nasty attitude when I couldn't decide on what I wanted to drink. Then I asked for two lattes and I don't know if she doesn't know HOW to make lattes or what exactly her position there is but please keep people like her in back of the house so I never have to put up with such a nasty face ever again. Hands down, best eclair I've ever had. Funny thing is I typically don't even like eclairs because of the nasty cheap custard-like filling. These were nothing like that and full of flavor. The Americanos were made quickly, were also good, and the service was fast. We got another sweet croissant too - everything about the place was likeable. We'll be coming back next time we're in town!

A tiny place with big flavors! I ordered a mascarpone black currant eclair, the filling was nicely flavored and just sweet enough, which I really liked, I personally felt it had a little too much filling-to-pastry ratio though. I also enjoyed the napoleon they have there, also not too sweet and you could see tiny bits of vanilla seeds all over in the light creamy filling. The only problem was that tables and chairs there are VERY small to the point where its annoying to sit down and get back up, but that's also common to many places with NYC's lack of space.

It was my first time. Good selection of pastries, I bought an almond eclair. I liked that it wasn’t too sweet. But I didn’t like the fact they do not put price tags so you have to ask price for each item. Also they do not ask if a customer needs a receipt, just assuming they do not. My main issue was with two girls over the counter, they were very rude. It was on March 2, 2019 around 8 pm. I asked for almond eclair and she packed almond crunch instead and gave me attitude when I asked to change it. Also she was reluctant to explain ingredients, I asked about filling of one of the eclairs bc I simply didn’t know and there was no menu on display, no description. That was very bad impression of the new place for me, so most likely I am not going back.

Everything from this place is delicious! They have so many beautiful and tasty options, it can be hard to choose. Eclairs, macaroons, cheesecakes, you name it. If there are a more than a couple people in line it can take a few minutes to get what you need. But it will be worth the wait!

Great éclair and coffee but... when I was vlogging, (purchased cappuccino and eclair) my camera was pointing at myself. The French lady asked me rudely why I was recording, why I was filming her staff. I told her I was only filming myself, and honestly wanted to talk about how lovely the cafe is. She rudely said, “are you sure?!” The lens was clearly pointing at me so I showed her, she rolled her eyes and walked away. When I asked to speak to her to let her know how uncomfortable she had made me feel, she didn’t come out. Her colleague said she didn’t understand why she talked to me that way and apologised. It’s okay to tell me no vlogging, but not okay to accuse me for doing something I was not rudely.

Not very impressed by our visit today. The chocolate chip cookie was good but their eclairs were very disappointing. The pastry was completely soggy and the flavours kind of boring. Same for the key lime pie which was seriously lacking in lime flavour.

I come here for morning pastries and coffee almost daily. While I have rarely had problems with the deliciousness of the pastries, there are a couple of things to improve: 1) they keep asking if you want sugar over your creme brule and sometimes their fire machine doesn't work so they can't add the caramelized sugar. It is called creme brule, so it should be a given that it has caramelized sugar on top. EDIT: Problem solved. 2) this store offers a free coffee for any 12 purchased. This is not the case at other coffee shops (Joe's, Think, Paris Baguette, etc) where you get a free coffee for every 10. 3) They need to buy a proper credit card reader. Not the add-on to a tablet. EDIT: Problem solved. 4) The iced coffees differ greatly in price but not in size. It seems that the only difference between a large and a small latte is the amount of ice in the cup, and not the milk, or the coffee. Otherwise, most of the time this place is nice and the food is fantastic. EDIT: The eclairs are insanely tasty and the other pastries amazing too.

Probably the best patisserie (bakery) in Manhattan by far. Authentic French treats that are unbelievably delicious. Staff is always nice and service is quick. Don't miss your chance to have a little taste of Paris if you're in the area. (it's well worth the trip from wherever to be honest).
