REVIEWS OF Sullivan Street Bakery and Pizza IN New Jersey

Megan Ung

Great place to grab a delicious breakfast! The toast I got was very yummy and the drink was made perfectly as well! Good atmosphere and the cafe is nice to work in as well.

drita d

Hidden gem in an area with minimal spots. great coffee choices. Excellent cold brew and espresso walnut muffin.

Neslihan Ozdemir

Used to be great, now less and less people going because they are running it like a soulless chain business. Fired their best employees like Lisa and Sade, friendly hard working employees. It was like a family. They had great fresh eggs and sandwiches. Increasing their prices is not the solution to make more.

Faiza Javaid

Great neighborhood spot with amazing service.

Flora Harrison

Come here often, really like the staff and the pastries. Very polite and they remember my orders, makes me feel a bit special :)

Best egg sandwich in the city, bar none. Great coffee too

Been coming here since they were on Sullivan Street - dismiss the angry sandwich eaters and embrace the breads and pastry - the veggie breads are my cheat bread for paleo now - this place is phenomenal - long live the Sullivan Street Bakery!!!!

Megan Ung

Katherine Lam

The best egg sandwich in NYC!

Ania Fryszkowska

Overpriced, poor service.

joanne sinovoi

living close to this place I must say they have some delicious food items. I like to eat in and have the delicious egg sandwiches with nice strong coffee. The Coffee mocha is one of the best I have ever had. The bread is one of the best you can buy and their Pizza is mouth watering. I like the potato Pizza myself but they are all good. This is a casual bakery and they will bring you the food to your table after you order from the counter

Ronald Olaizola

Delicious roast chicken sandwich served swiftly. I came here after a 6 mile run and left feeling refueled. They also have unlimited water that you can get yourself which was my favorite part due to the run. Its also a cute shop and the employees are wonderful.

Stas Vovk

Very good place for a coffee

Vincenzo Grasso

Very good stuff

Brian Mayers

drita d

Hidden gem in an area with minimal spots. great coffee choices. Excellent cold brew and espresso walnut muffin.

Justin Dalrymple

Great sandwiches, pastries and coffee! I ordered the Avocado breakfast sandwich and it was excellent. Husband ordered the Originale sandwich and that too was delicious. A definite must try!

Ben Bridges

Had the Originale breakfast sandwich, a cappucino and an Italian donut. Everything was amazing. I'll be back again!

Karla Gutierrez

Coffee and sandwiches are amazing.

Neslihan Ozdemir

It was like a family. They had great fresh eggs and sandwiches. Increasing their prices is not the solution to make more.

Evan Kesten

The breakfast sandwiches are fantastic!

Ricardo Silva

Great way to start the day. The breakfast/brunch options are great, choose anything related to their eggs and you won't regret it.

Tristan Hale

There is the same great bread as the original Sullivan St Bakery, but in a much better location. This shop also has more breakfast/brunch dishes and seating than the original.

Alexander Zicaro

Delicious hand crafted desserts

Izack Englander

The place to go if you want to do carbs! Everything here is just fantastic! Hard to pick a favorite. This is food science mixed with culinary art. Worth every penny.

David Lincoln

Decent bomboloni but the QPR is poor.

Tim Curry

One of my favorite places in Manhattan. I will go out of my way to eat here.

Michele Nadelman

Delicious lunch and amazing pastries

Trina Torkelson

Best sandwich is the Ceci. This is vegetarian sandwich but what makes it so amazing is the bread they put the chickpea fritters in. The flavors from the roasted beets, cabbage, and tahini are exploding with deliciousness. The breakfast bowls are not that great, don’t get me wrong, they are still delicious but comapared to the intense flavors in the ceci sandwich the breakfast bowls are sub par. The ceci sandwich is similar to a falafel, but because of the fresh and roasted veggies it is 1,000x better than any falafel that I’ve ever had. The chickpea fritters are definetly not falafel but have a slight resemblance. The chocolate chip cookies sell out fast, so if you see them up at the counter grab one, and you will not be disappointed.

Jea Hyun Kim

Really loved the atmosphere of this branch and their small pizzas and sandwiches were superb!

Cheri Campbell

Sullivan St bakery in Chelsea offers some of the best bread you can find in the city. Great place to sit down, order coffee and enjoy a solid breakfast sandwich. I have tried a few and particularly like the eggs, prosciutto, and tomatoes on that amazing bread. Prices are reasonable and the staff is professional. Last time I visited people were chatting and reading, I was not surrounded by robots on laptops as I often am in the city. Peaceful vibe. Grab some bread or a pastry, check out a gallery or 2 a couple of blocks a away, and savor the after taste. Top notch.

Jonathan Wang

My favorite is the olive loaf.

Barbara Dillon

Good food, pleasant staff, and comfortable environment for meeting a friend for a chat over breakfast or lunch. Delicious orange olive oil cake!

Corey Shefman

This is a small bakery that knows how to impress. Fresh bread lines the wall and light pastries fill the case. This isn't like the French bakeries thst are popping up all over, the treats here look rustic, and taste delicious. We had a brioche pastry with chocolate, and it was so light and delicately structured that it could have been a croissant. I was blown away by the care and quality. Will definitely be back!

Kristjan Raude

Love that place. Best Italiana.

Ruth Alegria

Great bread!

george gonzalez

Pastries are great love this place coffee is excellent

Leo Stride

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood, so I had my wedding here last week. They are just lovely to work with, and the food is superb! All of my guests loved and enjoyed the food and the vibe.

Dan Saltzman

If you've never had pizze from sullivan st., you're missing out. Delicious and perfect combinations (like zucchini and gruyere!) - and an NYC staple for 20 years. I can't believe it's alien me this long to write a review. Every time we have a party in the city, Sullivan st. Pizze are on the table. So when I went in on July 4 to pick up my order, I was dismayed to find out that it had never been placed inside of the bakery after I called. The staff was beyond apologetic, and the head baker went directly into the back and started making my order himself. With 10 minutes left to spare on the estimate he gave - I received my entire order piping hot. And on the house. Not only are the pizze amazing, they care about doing right by their customers. Thanks guys!

Nils Tißen

Waited for 30 min. next to the row for a sandwich, a granola and a coffee. When asking, we were fifth in line, so we took our money back and went to Friedmans next door. No communication, no happy clients. Bye Sullivan Bakery.

jorge perez

Good service

james Crowley

A pleasant neighborhood coffee shop with excellent baked goods and coffee.

Sandy Qureshi

It was good, prices were good and they had vegan options. I appreciated that.

BvT

Nice little spot for coffee and a bite to eat. No wifi, which I think is a good thing.

Xander Miller

Another reviewer called this the best breakfast sandwich they've ever had, and I have to say, I'd agree. From the crisp prosciutto to the fluffy eggs, the breakfast sandwich was a delicious and wonderful example of doing something simple so well that it becomes exceptional. Coffee was delicious as well, and their growing collection of protest signs on the wall added to the fun.

Mary Overholt

Amazing place. There breakfast sandwiches are the best in the world... not a drill. Such a cozy environment and the wait staff is very friendly! Also the prosciutto sandwich is not to miss. And the bombolinis :) love you Sullivan street! Keep doing what you do

louise Greenberg

I am a big fan of their "bianca" white pizza especially when it's warm and out of the oven. their square sliced pizza are good also, cauliflower, zucchini and potatoes, I wish they would not put that much onion in the potato and mushrooms ones! their donuts and breads are also great.

Michael Brannon

Excellent bread and foof. Horrible posted political opinions.

Kate Mahan

Cozy space with amazing bread, sandwiches and pastries. Do yourself a favor and get a bomboloni, it’s one of the best doughnuts in the city.

Crispen Stanbach

Chickpea fritter blew my goddamned mind

Alastair Tse

Doesn't have the charm of the 49th street bakery, and the sit down service is a little awkward.

Linwood Davis Jr

It was so good, can I say it again? The food was so good. Fresh everything, everything was delicious, that fresh squeezed orange juice was from heaven. You will not be disappointed at all. Very helpful and friendly staff. I would give it 5 more stars

Gino Capone

If I lived closer I’d gain 200lbs. But seriously really good stuff

Rachel Wegman

So disappointed with the new concept. Bread is good, but came for the sandwiches. Took away avocado and egg sandwich completely. New sandwiches are cold scrambled eggs on bread. When asked if they were able to heat them up, was told “this is how we do it now”. Shame, their sandwiches used to be some of the best around.

Candice Pines

The food was good and fresh!

Shaan Coelho

Here's what you need to know: - They do bread products seriously right. The sandwiches, the pastries, and the baguettes are all well prepared and packed with flavor - Other stuff, not so much. Steer clear of the breakfast bowls - if it doesn't have bread it in, its not their forte - A good mix of coffee, teas, and chais but again this is a bakery through and through. Appreciate it for what it is

Alexander Pusachev

Stopped here for breakfast, sandwich delicious and coffee is awesome.

Erick Galindo Valdés

A bit pricey but, pretty nice and mellow atmosphere. Good coffee and awesome pastries. Recommendable indeed.

dick weasel

Whenever I drive the 3 hrs into NYC, this is a must stop to grab a snack and a bag full of awesome breads and pastries to take home to Pennsylvania. The offerings are the best in class hands down. It just doesn't get better than this. That said, everything is quite spendy however, but made fresh and without artificial ingredients and preservatives. As the previous poster mentioned, you'd think all the help was on prozaic and it was their first day on the job. While friendly, they just didn't seem switched on and were unenthusiastic. Since everything changes by the season, I have to guess what I'm going to like the best as the staff is incapable of being very helpful. Ask for a sample, make your selection, grab a very good cup of joe and take a table. If the owner had the business snots, he could take this on the road and give Starbucks a lot of trouble.

Kit Merritt

Great chilled soups. Beautiful baked goods

jesudesuu

Original breakfast sandwich was amazing! Also try the range of Kombucha flavours~

Jan Joroff

Always the best.I go several times a week. Great sandwiches and hot cocoa.

Leon Lin

Had the vanilla bomboloni and apple turnover. Both tasted good, though would have been better warm. Price was average for NYC bakery. Both were also in the sweeter side. The texture of both were good. bomboloni was soft, and the Apple turnover was crisp.

Anthony Rahayel

Good sandwiches and Bambaloni, nothing else is worth trying!

Joseph Nussenbaum

A little expensive, nice ambience for a sit-down cup of coffee and pastry

Gary Roth

AlwayZ loved good clean baked goods

KAYLA HUFFORD

Absolutely love this place. The coffee is good, the bean has a great flavor! The food is even better, the croissants and the breakfast sandwiches were amazing! I found my new favorite place.

corenzo wilkerson

Great nice lounge place

Desmond Foo

The soft-cooked egg sandwiches here are fantastic. Try the Salsiccia or the Formaggio!

Jimmy Geffrard

Never again

Lucinda Ferguson

This bakery has been a staple of the neighborhood for many years. I have been coming here for at least 3 years now and everytime the baked goods are fresh. The pies are to die for...so good we used them for a friend's birthday and got rave reviews (thats why Im writing this!)

Gene S

It's okay.

Cathleen Markland

More savory than sweet items. Tables in the cafe. Nice people, pastry I bought pretty good, worth the price? Hmmm.

Christine Burnside

Friendly staff. Competitive pricing. Strong latte. Toast with ricotta and tomatoes. Beignets with vanilla cream. Delicious!

Jason Kaminski

Never had anything bad here! The breads are fantastic. The breakfast buns and the pizza bianco with various toppings beat any slice in the area. Vibe is usually chill which is also nice. Hard to find calm places to eat around here.

Vivian L

Small and modern cafe with great pastries and bread. They also serve breakfast and lunch which I didn't get a chance to try but will do so the next time I visit.

Cathleen Markland

More savory than sweet items. Tables in the cafe. Nice people, pastry I bought pretty good, worth the price? Hmmm.

Kathy Ahrens

As long as you want your breakfast sandwiches cold, you'll love it. This is a place I'll pass up.

Shimi Liderman

OMG! Try any of the Canottos and you will not regret it! So soft on the inside, yet perfect crisp on the outside. Piece of art

Richard A Bonneau

Great people Great bread

adam booth

They serve cold egg sandwiches and won’t warm them up. It also cost $12, would probably have tasted great if warmed up.

Dimitris Lekkos

It's very hard in this big town to find a nice coffee. This place has the best coffee i ever had. You must try it.

Andy Ng

Have known about Jim Lahey's bakery for many years and finally had the chance to visit for an afternoon break. Small bakery cafe with the nicest staff and a simple yet solid menu showcasing breads and pastries. The food is on the pricier side for what you get, yet you can be sure that the quality will be exceptional! I had the total, and could not believe how moist, strong yet balanced the flavors were; seriously one of the more memorable pastries I've had in a while...

Inaky garcia

Originale breakfast sandwich. Best I had.

Mark Williams

Well known for their pastries but found their sandwiches to be equally pleasing.

Michelle Gonzales

How hot is it? Let's just say, have that glass of milk handy. Coming here on a recent Sunday, I shared a half baked mushroom pizza with a friend and spotted this new item in their focaccia section. It is deceiving as the other toppings disguise those sleeping peppers. If you like strong flavors, this one is for you. Yes, I also bought several sweet items (see last review) to satisfy my craving for guilty pleasures. Worried that the farmers' market would make this place a madhouse, I was surprised that it was not too bad. Needless to say, will be back, just hopefully sooner than later.

Ross Cohen

I didn't get much here, just half a loaf of bread. It wasa great piece of bread for a great price. The guy at the counter was very friendly. That's about all I can say.

Oliver N

Delicious croissants and bread! Also have very nice Italian bombolini.

Claire Jiang

Clean, elegant place for lunch or coffee. The food is really great, and you can definitely tell a lot of care was put into the prep.

Chris Quartly

Well over priced

Stephanie DeMane

$8 for the best egg sandwich I've ever had? Never going anywhere else for breakfast. They also have great coffee and *real* hot chocolate. And of course the bread is incomparable. My only complaint is that the location isn't bigger, but I can usually find seating at the bar if I hover for a little while.

Paul Ahrens

Total bougie, hipster joint. Food was great, but the pretentiousness was so thick I needed a gas mask. Gentrifiers unite!!

Christine Burnside

Friendly staff. Competitive pricing. Strong latte. Toast with ricotta and tomatoes. Beignets with vanilla cream. Delicious!

Wayne John

Here's the place to go if you want to do carbs! Everything here is just fantastic! Hard to pick a favorite. This is food science mixed with culinary art. Worth every penny.

Jon Cunnane

Breakfast was great and service was quick. Not the typical eggs and toast place, expect more like brioche with eggs and prosciutto. Has counter and table seating. Great food.

Bruce Hikmet

Ridiculously expensive coffee for nothing different than deli cross the street..come on ..3.50 for coffee to go in a cup!! thiefs

Alexandra Dékány

I've heard so many people raving about this place that I wanted to try it out myself. We had lunch there with my husband on Sunday - hubby is a huge bread-lover so he had high hopes. The place itself doesn't really appealing from the outside, and when we entered I felt odd: the breads and all the food look gorgeous, but the tables and the sitting area where we finally sat down was kinda creepy, I felt like I was sitting in a school eatery... We ordered 2 slices of pizzas, a bomboloni, and two sandwiches. The staff is kind and friendly, we got our freshly made scrambled egg sandwiches quite quickly. Both sandwiches were great, the Formaggi was really full with cheese, but the Verdura one barely had any veggies. Anyways, the scrambled eggs in both sandwiches were phenomenal! Sadly the pizzas were mediocre and cold. The bomboloni in reality is a very good donut - the dough is absolutely perfect, but I was a bit disappointed as I was hoping for more filling, but there's only literally just about a teaspoon of it in the donut. For almost $4 is definitely not cheap, and the place itself is on the pricey side in general too. I saw more interesting dishes on the menu, so I would go back to try those as well.

Charles Merlot

Got the Salsiccia - amazing!

Alejandra Estanislao

Cozy coffee shop with good cappuccinos.

Ange Fancy

Loved the breskfast..The mok at my school love to order from them..its really tasty stuff..

Avi Drucker

Really good pastries and coffee, good egg bowls, good music. A bit pricey though

Melanie Wahl

Pmb prosciutto mango basil. Prosciutto. And breakfast sandwich. All amazing. Friendly. Smells divine ... Update 9/2014: tonno, pollo, prosciutto, uovo in copetta all awesome. Pizza and baked goods awesome. Overly salted, but 6people licked their plates clean.

Jim Blount

Great food and coffee. Place is a one of a kind

JOEY KNOWS IT ALL

I don't know how dinner is in this place but let me tell you pop in there and get yourself the slice of Pomodoro pizza And the potato and rosemary pizza bomboloni aren't too bad either

Mr XP

Good bread but very pricy mediocre pastry.

N M

Their bomboloni is the best!

eric randria

Good vibes in this place

Liz Raschke

One of the best cold brew coffees and croissants in NYC. Hidden gem. They have other nice breads and treats, but after sampling most of them I'd recommend the plain croissant. Sort of Sweet finish. My #1 local stop for coffee.

Downtown Playboy

Italian bread heaven! Simple yet delicious, and everything is fresh out of the oven. I do wish they were open later, but happy I don’t have to go down to SoHo to get the best pizza slice in the city, now it’s up the block. Try the white pizza, yummy!

Steven Damron

Love their bread.

Willie Thompson

Tried a slice of pizza with mixed greens, feta, rosemary oil, parsley and Parmesan. Very good pizza slice!

Carla Castillo

Delicious olive oil cake and coffee! Love it

Jason Kaminski

Never had anything bad here! The breads are fantastic. The breakfast buns and the pizza bianco with various toppings beat any slice in the area. Vibe is usually chill which is also nice. Hard to find calm places to eat around here.

I used to love this place until they stopped heating up they’re breakfast sandwiches. It was so much better when the eggs were actually warm instead of ice cold. It’s not the most satisfying to eat eggs at the temperature of ice cream. Were these eggs just in the freezer before you prepared this breakfast sandwich that’s been sitting for hours? If this was to save time in the kitchen I understand but the quality should still be the same as this is a neighborhood bakery that everyone loves. Or at LEAST have the option to heat it up if people want it.

Emerson Masfina

Really delicious roast chicken sandwich served swiftly. I came here after a 6 mile run and left feeling refueled. They also have unlimited water that you can get yourself which was my favorite part due to the run. Its also a cute shop and the employees are wonderful.

Robert Craig

Best croissant we have ever had. Great brekkie sandwiches and nice staff

Lindy Tan

Delicious savory breads! My favorite bakery in Manhattan!

This is my favorite, most reliable respite in the neighborhood. There's no wifi, so it's superb for quiet time, friendly meetings or offline work. Everything I've ever eaten from the menu is delicious. The sandwiches, pastries, soups, salads and coffee alike are fresh, well prepared and perfectly proportioned. There is a cordial and relaxed ambiance and usually enough seating to share. Outstanding.

Really nice place

Woo Jae Park

Best bread in city. Kombucha on tap!

Onur Yildirim

Great breads

Hans Ecke

I'm German. Bread is important to me. So let me tell you: you are not going to find better bread anywhere. Period. The crust is crunchy, the interior soft with these large cavities that tell you the yeast had time to chew through the starch properly. Every bite is happiness. The qualifier would be "of this kind". NYC is sadly lacking in heavy dark whole grain breads. But that's another subject. Where the place falls through is price and attitude. They know how good they are and they treat the customer as if they don't need you ("look, there's many more customers waiting in line"). And they charge a ridiculous amount. $9 for a loaf is too much for me. My advice: get the no-knead bread recipe. With literally 10 minutes of effort you can make bread that's just as good, for a buck in ingredients.

Mohamed Al Maysari

Nice food

Tim Piper

Best bread in North America. Best coffee too.

Sam Strauch

Nice calm bakery. The muffin was a bit dry, but the ricotta cheese and tomato toast was just lovely. Also, the iced coffee was great, made cold.

Philip Bradford

Alarmingly simple pies and salads that taste way better than they should. Jim: can you please change the menu more often?

Alejandro Osio

This place is so unexpectedly tasty it’ll make anyone fall clean off their gourd

j lee

Great a breakfast

Ata Haq

Love the place

Jeroen Kraan

Best coffee and baked goods in the area.

Pavel Push

Unusual bakery with fancy tables and counter seats. Great baking goods, good coffee, good pastries, great breakfast-sandwiches, good stuff and bad location. Good all together.

Po Chan

Excellent breakfast pastries and coffee. Tough to find seating so need to come early or be aggressive.

Art Nacht

Average coffee. Noisy. Seating not too comfortable. Outside air blows in across the few tables whenever the door opens.

Adam Mawaz

Good stuff

Felipe Saint-Martin

Hands down the best bread in the city.

Vivian Bikel

A little bit of a European flair, damn delicious

Caitlin Gunther

I had theee best cup of coffee here the other day. Finally, an amazing bakery that has top notch craft coffee too.

Liye Zhang

Good sandwiches.

Christopher Boot

Great selection at reasonable prices. Excellent service. Definitely worth trying.

Anthony Wong

Bread is great here. Food is a bit expensive for what you get.

regina chelini

Two sandwiches (both with prosciutto

michelle helfner

What a gem! Amazing & strong coffee served by a kind staff. The best egg sandwich I've ever had (salsiccia) the bread is perfect and the combination of fluffy eggs, sausage, sage and cheese - indescribable. ❤️

Frank Adams

Why don't you heat up your breakfast sandwiches? Cold eggs... Mmmmmmm. It's a shame, it seems like it would be delicious if it were hot.

Will Atherton

Glazed croissant had just the right amount of sweetness, and the donut was delicious.

Santiago MacLean

My Sunday morning coffee spot. Probably the best glazed croissant I've ever had. Their coffee is solid and the staff is super friendly.

avner schwarz

Got a small blueberry pastry for an inflated price.. That thing was stale. 1-2 days old. Avoid!!

Randall Fairchild

Enjoyed our visit Sullivan's. Recommend the poached eggs in a bowl with veggies and their lattes.

Patrick Schoenemann

Great bakery. They deliver most of the upscale restaurants in NYC with their bread. I was here for breakfast. The ‚Simplici‘ bowl with poached eggs and toasted bread was as the name states: simple and delicious. The cappuccino was perfectly made. Rounded up with a Croissant. What a nice start into the day!

Brendan Nolan

Bread is still good but they took away breakfast sandwiches and the new ones were cold and uninviting

Amy Morr

Food here is horrible!

Dakota Williams

Great pastries and coffee.

Ever Rude

Excellent and fresh bread daily

Daan van Esch

Some of the best sandwiches I've ever had

Val-jerry Moïse

I LOOOOVE this place , friendly people, nice atmosphere, the food really good , for you folks who like good pastries and sandwiches and pizza this is the place to go, they also have a bruch menue with delicious food I've tried almost all of them, my favorite The BLT, There croissant and pain au chocolat are really good.
