This Bakery belongs to the category of Bakery.
If there is a line in front of 74th street one, check this one out;) Usually it’s a much shorter wait here or even no wait. Fresh out of oven cookies are so delicious. They are warm, soft and moisture. Oatmeal raisin is my favorite, am I am also a big fan of dark chocolate peanut butter. But why banana chocolate chip bread is always sold out?!
I had to stop by while I was in NYC. I got the chocolate chip walnut cookie and also a chocolate chip brioche. The cookie was amazing. Crunchy exterior, soft and chewy interior. Be warned though - it’s a decent size and very decadent so if you’re counting calories you may want to share. The brioche was quite good as well. Not as indulgent as the cookie. Also, the staff was very upbeat and friendly, which is apparently harder to come by in New York? (Put the pitchforks down, I’m just saying what I hear.)
I love this place. I make a point to drop by whenever in NYC. There’s nothing quite like their cookies!! My fave is the peanut butter chocolate one :)
The bake goods sold at Brown Sugar are fantastic!! The the cupcakes, pies & cakes are unbelievable!! If the bakery was on the near Northside or South Loop there would be people lined up outside to purchase these delicious gems.

Great staff! So attentive, polite, energetic, and funny! And the cookies and pastries are absolutely non-pareil. They are a perfect amalgam of moist, slightly chewy, and a teeny bit of crunch on the surface. A great place to appease your sweet tooth!
That feeling when you pay money for food that doesn’t taste good. Sorely underwhelmed and disappointed. Everyone raved about these cookies. The dough lacked flavour and it felt as if they tried to cover this up by having a load of dark choc chips in the cookie. It also did not taste particularly fresh. I also got a raspberry bombollini and this was stale and tasted like a ball of dough an amateur baker would make home. Not what I expected at all when the cookies are $4 each as well. Ugh
These cookies were SO memorable and so good! I would come again.
Heaven is a place in earth there !

I always make an effort to stop by Levains anytime I'm in the area because the cookies are phenomenal. They have a rough exterior, but an incredibly gooey inside that makes we wonder how it's possible that some people prefer the crust. They are expensive cookies, but they are also pretty big.
delicious cookies❣️
The cookies are soooooo good!! They are sweet but not over sweet and the middle is so soft and very fresh. YUMMMMM
Best cookie I’ve ever eaten.
What an amazing cookie! This levain shop is newer and much more empty thant the other (and they're close to each other)
You don't get a 4.8 rating in the city by accident. Can't think of a more memorable cookie in my life.
Always a great experience visiting Levain Bakery. This establishment attracts decent crowds of ppl too. The
Easy to stop in and get a present that everyone will enjoy
I'm a Diabetic ... Levine Bakery is "My Cheat Day" place to go! Delish!
I didn't expect much from a cookie, but wow the cookies here are mindblowing! We tried the chocolate chip walnut and the oatmeal raisin. Thought the chocolate chip walnut was a bit too chocolatey, but I really loved the oatmeal raisin! Definitely worth the wait. For us, we waited about 20m on a Sunday afternoon. The line for this branch is mostly contained within the store, so you don't have to wait outside if you don't want to. The one on 74th is pretty small so the line goes outdoors. Would come back. In the future I'd like to try the dark chocolate ones!
People were right. This is the best cookie place ever. It was so good and goey that I don't want to have any other cookie. I'm strictly a levain guy now.
Best cookies of my life! Double chocolate and peanut butter chocolate are the best
It lives up to the hype. Eat all the cookies.
I love their chocolate peanut butter cookies
Great new larger space than the original bakery, no waiting + no lines when I arrived as they just opened at 7am
The cookies please the cookies, thank you very much
The Walnut cookie is to die for, soft and gooey in the middle. One cookie could replace a whole meal!
I love this place. I make a point to drop by whenever in NYC. There’s nothing quite like their cookies!! My fave is the peanut butter chocolate one :)
Lines are starter , plus same great food.
Chocolate chip walnut cookie wasn’t warm inside, but still amazing. They also have great banana chocolate chip bread which is my favorite. There’s more space than 74th one with very friendly staffs.
Come here if your wife wants to. Don't come here for the 'amazing' cookies. They don't live up to the hype.
I ate a half of usual cookie and a half of chocolate one) But BE PREPARED a half of this cookie feels like a whole huge meal and makes you sooo full lol :D The line wasn't too bad btw
Best cookies I’ve ever had! Beyond amazing
Came here on 9/29 with my girlfriend. She ordered the chocolate chip walnut cookie ($4), and I ordered the chocolate chip brioche ($3.75). Her cookie was comfortably chewy, with a mildly warm temperature. Extremely rich in chocolate chips and plentiful with walnuts. Altogether a very good cookie. My chocolate chip brioche, in the other hand, while stocked with chocolate chips, failed to distinguish itself from other bakeries. It was cold and the bread was relatively bland, though it was chock full of sugary delight. There is no seating available at the bakery, though there is a standing bar running along one wall. I would recommend sitting at the Dunkin Donuts next door (after, of course, purchasing a beverage to accompany your pastry). Expect there to be around a 5-10 minute line on weekend afternoons.
Best cookies ever!!
The same cookies of excellence served at more spacious setting and by more friendly staffs.
I love fresh bread
If you’re in the mood for desert then look no further. It’s no exaggeration to say that they make the world’s best chocolate chip cookies. And cookies are not your typical size cookies cookies. Each cookie is a meal in itself. You can share it among few people. But once you start eating it it’s hard to share. It’s that good.
Best cookies I ever had.
Deserves 6 stars. So good.
I just picked up my oder of 60 cookies. This place is great in the world
I prefer this location because they are always quick, my cookies are warm, and everyone working has been so kind. No complaints. I would get the chocolate chip brioche and a peanut butter dark chocolate cookie.
Yaasss this place rocks! The cookies are out of this world. They’re huge and we bought three cookies that took us two days to finish off. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere in the store. Can get a little crowded but they have more than enough staff to help everyone
Always come here if 74th street has any semblance of a line. On the weekends this location can get busy but it’s almost always available during the week. Levain still reigns as the best cookie shop in NYC in my opinion. The chocolate and peanut butter cookie is a must try
Delicious pastries. I especially like to ask for the slightly less cooked cinnamon brioche.

Very delicious cookies, and when you order they are handed to you freshly baked and hot. It's an absolute must to stop by this bakery whenever you're in the area.
Very different and tasty cookies. Get the peanut butter flavour
Average cookies that taste more like brownies. They don't have the mix of crunch and softness that a really good cookie should have. I don't think this place lives up to its hype and they are definitely overpriced. The taste is fine, but nothing special. Ours weren't warm which was a little disappointing, but that's more a question of luck. We've had much better cookies elsewhere.
Dark choc with peanut butter
Went in to pick up cookies for the wife for Vday. People who work here are freakishly nice and the cookies are like drugs.
Love this place! They even have a gluten free chocolate chip walnut!
I would give them 6 stars if I could. Best cookies in town! Who am I kidding.. in the world!
Cookie was nice and soft in the inside and crunchy in the outside.

Really good. You won’t be disappointed. Cookies are huge
The most amazing cookie you’ll ever try, much better than the original location because its bigger and it always seems to have a shorter line.
Cookies are amazing here! Mmmm delish!
Great n popular but personally i dont see it that much special
THE BEST COOKIE IN NYC BY FAR!!! Worth every penny, you have to try it!!!!!
Great awesome costumer service and they were friendly and super yummy treats. I almost didn't recognize the cookies they are big and perfect. I got a chocolate one and a walnut chocolate chip both were amazing. They are big making them 4$ per cookie but totally worth it. They are very soft and fluffy cookies with a crunchy outside. I would give it 6/5. Must go in NYC
Chocolate chip walnut cookie is too good.
4USD may seem like a lot, but this cookie is huge and it's worth it. I would even say that it is enough for two people. Very tasty, highly recommended.
Absolutely amazing and decadent cookies. Cannot recommend it enough to those with a sweet tooth. This branch is also a lot more pleasant (and with less queues!) than the original store at 74th st.
The walnut chocolate chip cookie is so good. It was the best cookie I've had in my life. Totally worth the wait. All the staff working there seemed very happy and enthusiastic too!
Very soft and delicious cookies, and I dont even like cookies!
The line looks scary but it moves very fast !! The line is only long because the shop is very little can only fit 5 people but excellent service and treats
The smell is just intoxicating as soon as you enter the bakery
I love this location!!!! Lines are shorter!!!! Cookies and other items are JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER THAN ORIGINAL LOCATION!!!
Great cookies, I tried the extra chocolate one and it was fresh, soft, warm, melting in your hands. Perfect with a glass of milk (the drink portions are really small, only reason for me giving 4stars). Would definitely recommend on any kind of day, but especially on the colder ones.
This is the BEST cookie I EVER had. Big, thick, gooey awesomeness!!
Came here only for the famous cookies and did not wait in line at all. Unfortunately, I hate nuts in baked goods, so I did not try their classic chocolate chip cookie. The double chocolate chip cookie is great though. It is perfect for a chocolate craving and the size of the cookie is more than worth the price. I just wish they had the regular cookie but nut-free...
Best cookies ever
I went there today after hearing so much about these cookies and I was extremely disappointed. I tried the chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies. They were too sweet for me and I couldn't even finish half of the cookie and threw it in the trash. I wouldn't recommend trying these and especially not waiting on line for it.
It's a good cookie, but I don't think it lives up to the hype. You'll get exactly what you're expecting and nothing more. It is a fun place to take family or friends when they're visiting, though. I also tried their mocha, which was like a hot chocolate with some coffee. I liked it, but don't expect anything very strong.
Excellent cookies!!! Huge
THE BEST BANANA CHOCOLATE BREAD AND DARK CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE
Literally, the best chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had. Coffee is excellent too. Wish I could come here every day for the rest of my life.
I had walnut chocolate chips cookie, awesome taste
Amazing chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth and the hot chocolate is pure bliss!
I believe this one is the 3rd shop or location. However, it is so close to the 1st shop on W74th Street. The shop is bigger: roomy for forming the line. More space to eat in the shop. Cookies are as good as the original one. I tried to the first shop over 2 years ago. Still it is as awesome as I remember! The waiting time is a lot shorter! Hope I would have a chance back for more before I leave!
At the original basement location a couple blocks away, there's always a long line. Here, it's always reasonable with the same food. Cookies, of course, are legendary quarter-pounders that we immediately divide into 4 pieces to avoid turning our bloodstreams into Willie Wonka's chocolate river. Don't miss the flatbreads, which are delicious and pleasantly oily.
Great oatmeal raisin cookie!
No seating available at all, but this place is more of a stop on the way. Love that central park is in such close proximity. also love that you can look into the entire kitchen and get a sense of all the work that goes into making the baked goods. The cookies that we ordered were wonderfully baked and very yummy! Definitely a good stop if you have little kids.
The best cookie I ever had!
This is a must if your touring New York! I bring all our visitors here! Best cookies ever
So to start I have to say the cookies are obviously staples of the New York bakery scene. They are wonderful flavorful and quite honestly a meal unto themselves. That said, I think beyond the cookies I have been quite underwhelmed by a variety of their other items. Particularly their breads and their coffee which was while not unpalatable quite banal which I’m some ways is worse. You don’t feel justified in throwing it away but it just doesn’t bring you any of the joy in life that eating should. Another problem is with the space they inhabit. No room for sitting and enjoying your baked goods. You are forced to stand off in the corner while the line of people hurriedly push their ways around you to get to where they want to go.
Much, much larger facility than the original location (just a few blocks away). And don't be fearful of any long lines you may see - when they have all registers open, the line goes extremely quickly.
Another outpost for this bakery which specializes in giant, decadent cookies. This location is larger so the lines are not as long. I highly recommend the chocolate chip walnut and the chocolate peanut butter cookies.
Best Muffins and cookies I've ever had! I wanted to buy more, because everything there looked delicious, but, sadly, I had somewhere to be. A little expensive but totally worth it.
Absolutely amazing and crazy and yummy place to be. My wife and I were traveling to nyc and this bakery popped up. We walked morning to just be there and have fresh baked goods. Their chocolate chip and cinnamon bricohes are the bestest brioch I have ever had in my life. Serious. And of course the cookies and breads and The coffee were amzing too.
If you are looking for a dessert place in NYC, you can look no further. The cookies are so delicious. I didn’t know it was possible to have so many chocolate chips in a cookie. The Amsterdam location was open later than the others, and we enjoyed it!
the best bakery ever
Not quite the cozy feel of the og but much nicer/newer, shorter lines, and the cookies are just as good (and huge)
The chocolate chip walnut has the perfect crust perfect chew, and perfect sweetness.
I like Levain's soft cookies but they don't come cheap. I like their chocolate brioche and banana bread more.
Small place but BIG taste sticky buns were graeat must try them ( only on weekends)
These are some of the best cookies I have ever had, and well worth their fame. They are massive mounds of tastiness; crunchy on the outside, but soft and melted on the inside. The staff is always super friendly at each location. If you're in the area, do your soul a favor and stop in!
Hands down the best Cookies in NYC. PERIOD
Delicious cookies... walnut and choc chip. Helpful staff
I found the place by accident. Like how it looks. It was kind of late, they out of most orders. So, I got the dark chocolate Cookie which i didn’t think it is the best. Am planing to visit again.
At Amsterdam is spacious enough to accommodate more than 30 people at a time. Yet it is worth que to get such delighted cookies and give yourself a treat
One of the most recommended bakery in New York. The cookies are scrumptious. Highly recommended and a must visit place when in New York.
Favorite oatmeal cookie ever
The cookies, of any flavor, worth every penny you spent there. I strongly recommend them. But prepare yourself: the line is giant! You can have luck, try it anyway. The ice coffee is good but it's nothing compared to the emotion you'll have eating the cookie. They're big, with tons of chips and the dough is soft and delicious! Go go go
Skip the huge line on 74th location. Same delicious cookies, faster service. Lovely staff.
My friend and I split an oatmeal raisin scone, dark chocolate chip cookie, and chocolate chip cookie. It was amazing at first, but halfway in, we realized we took on more than we could handle. But it was too late to stop so we just pushed through til we finished. Protip: order a non-sweet drink to balance out the cookie.
Great cookies. Wonderful treat for any occasion. Glad to have this second location!
Awesome cookies. Not too sweet and it's huge! Could eat this all day!
Came here for their famous cookies and left super happy! Cookies were crispy on the outside and moist and soft on the inside
Probably one of the best cookie I ever had! Texture is just perfect
One word: HEAVEN!!!!!!! Saw some ladies with a Levain Bakery bag and their marketing was so great I had to find them and try them. I googled their location and walked my happy self over to indulge! And boy am I glad I did!
Dark chocolate peanut butter cookie is one of my favorite!
Cookies are absolutely delicious -- and they freeze well if bringing back.
Best cookies, super soft and huge !! get 2 And share, cause there are to die for !!!
Simply Delicious all the way around worth a trip from anywhere in NYC or America for that fact lol
I go for the carmel cupcakes. I am tempted to try the peanut butter & jelly cake but I always get the cupcake. Nice decor but they need to fix the display case. I will always come back for the carmel cupcakes. Please do not change the receipe! Did I saw carmel cupcakes!!! Yum!
The staff are as sweet as the great cookies they serve.
Chocolate chip walnut cookies were so good. I wish they were a little warmer.
Gave this a go after seeing it at the top of TripAdvisor. This position was justified. I had the chocolate peanut butter cookie and it was delicious! Further, it;s very well priced compared to what you pay for sweet treats at some other popular bakeries around NYC.
Had my first chocolate chip cookie today. I thought I was dreaming. A co-worker brought me one and Whoa! is all I can say, absolutely delicious and I'm a hard nut to crack when it comes to goodness.
It is absolutely not hyperbole to say that this is absolutely the BEST chocolate chip cookie in NYC. Crispy on the outside, soft and gooey with chocolate on the inside; not too sweet, and the extra crunch from the walnuts complete this perfectly sized cookie. It probably helps that there is a consistent line out the door at all hours so that any cookie you get is basically fresh out the oven.
Cookies are delicious, warm & soft. A little too much to eat a whole one in one go though, would recommend sharing! Indulgent but in a lovely way.
Best chocolate chip cookies in the whole world!!! Im addicted to them
Tasty and buttery, sometimes there's no love and sometimes it goes down the block!
Worth the calories. Gigantic and extremely tasteful, the Amsterdam location had more room than their original location. Eat while it's hot but it's also pretty good even after a day (I ordered 6 and did not realize that I wouldn't be able to finish that morning).
I hear it's the place to go for bakery goods. Try the cookies. Famous in the city and particularly in the upper west side.
These cookies are definitely worth the money! I went there and the staff employee was very kind. Excellent service. The cookies were warm and I do recommend trying out each of their different flavors.
Had my first chocolate chip cookie today. I thought I was dreaming. A co-worker brought me one and Whoa! is all I can say, absolutely delicious and I'm a hard nut to crack when it comes to goodness.
Sticky bun with walnuts is a waste of walnuts. Crispy pizza is not a pizza. It's very thin crispy oily bread with some stuff on it.
I never leave this without buying less than 2 dozen. Best cookies anywhere, no contest. So happy that they're in my hometown.
The cookies are very thick. Love these cookies, must have in NYC
The cookies lived up to the hype! Nice and warm and gooey. There are a few barstools to sit out while you eat. We went on Monday at lunch and there was no line.
Unlike the original location 3 blocks up the road, the line was somewhat short and especially fast moving without feeling rushed. Levain Bakery (any location) is a definite must-have when visiting New York! The cookies are thick and amazing! Absolutely delicious with smooth, creamy chocolate.
The cookies are great.
That is the best cookie in my entire life I look forward to taking it from when they were posted in magazine And they didn't disappoint me fortunately Visiting Levain bakery would be the best memory in my travel
Very bad employee attitude and retarded.
Fooooood Good
Amazing cookies! But...don't take coffee!
It was my first time here. I came to 74th street and a huge line outside made me even refuse this idea (as it was pretty cold day). Then i found another one on 77th street and went there. There was a line too, but at least inside and was moving fast. No space inside, if you'd like to sit and have a talk with your friend, definitely not the best place. Most people buy for to-go. Oatmeal raisin cookie was good, a lot of butter in the dough. But chocolate chip brioche was one big disappointment, cold, nothing special. Overall, I think I had overexpectations from this place. If u are a big lover of cookies, should try though. Update: warmed up brioche at home and it became tastier. So recommend it only warmed up, when chocolate is melted. Change from 3-star to 4-star
The staff is adorable. Cookies are warm and delicate. I digs it.
one of our favorites. can't beat these cookies. but closes way too early, especially the original store.
The most amazing cookies I've ever had
great cookies but prepare to wait on line
It is absolutely not hyperbole to say that this is absolutely the BEST chocolate chip cookie in NYC. Crispy on the outside, soft and gooey with chocolate on the inside; not too sweet, and the extra crunch from the walnuts complete this perfectly sized cookie. It probably helps that there is a consistent line out the door at all hours so that any cookie you get is basically fresh out the oven.
Cookies are the best, hands down. When I travel home to Florida, my only carry on is a bag full of oatmeal raisins.
Decent cookie but don't get the hype. Tried the chocolate chip and walnut and the dark chocolate chocolate chip and preferred the latter.
Unbelievable coockies. Choose dark chocolate.
Levain’s chocolate chip cookies are colossal, gooey, and always in the running for the best ones in NYC. In fact, any type of cookies here won’t disappoint, but there are a few other pastry options, too. The space is small, so be prepared to wait in line outside. It will be worth it.
Just as good as the original location and far less wait. If the line is too long at the other one just walk 2 blocks up to this one. Sometimes you'll be able to walk back and see the same people in line.
Literally the most incredible cookie I've ever had!
They are the best cookies in town you have to go there
The cookies here make my mouth happy, I'll be sure to go again soon.
I absolutely loved coming here! Shannon and Jackie were the sweetest, and made my experience so perfect. They were so welcoming, and answered all of our questions, and helped give us a reason to come back!
It's worth the wait. It's hard to find a good cookie that has a perfect dough to chip ratio - they nail it. They also serve milk and other beverages. The only downside is the lack of space to enjoy your treats at the location.
These cookies are unfathomably good. Just a tad crunchy on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside, they're a delight from start to finish. Oatmeal raisin is my favorite, and the chocolate chip walnut seems to be a crowd favorite.
Amazing! Truly to die for cookies - I luvvvv their Chocolate peanut butter and Double chocolate chip cookies. OMG, sooooooo good. Very rich and decadent cookies. It’s a good thing that this bakery is in NYC and not San Francisco (where I live) because these cookies are dangerous to my dancer waistline!
This is the new store. I actually like it better than the original because the layout allows the line to move much more efficiently, which gets me to the most delectable cookies even faster! Cookies of choice: Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Walnut. They are like an orgasm of the mouth!!! Very satisfying!
Can confirm: it’s a good cookie. The staff knew we were instagram pilgrims and gave us recommendations of what to try. We tried the chocolate chip and the chocolate peanut butter. Both were delicious. Crispy on the outside, then almost scone like, with a gooey center, and SO BIG. We came here after deciding the line outside the original bakery was too long. I recommend ordering a milk with the cookie!
Super tasty cookies. They are quite big and a bit too sweet if you are not so used to sugar. The place gets very crowded and there are not many places to sit down.
Cookies are delicious, warm & soft. A little too much to eat a whole one in one go though, would recommend sharing! Indulgent but in a lovely way.
Excellent small bakery choices & Yummy small pizzas!.
When you need a cookie and you don't want to wait in line, this is where you go! Spacious location, friendly staff, and same menu! It seems like a date night stop for lots of couples too! <3
Breakfast may not have been the healthiest but it most certainly was the best. Thank you!!
Best cookies..... chocolate and peanut butter.. warm and delicious
The likes don't lie this place is worth a visit! One of the best cookies I have ever had in my entire life. I had both the chocolate chip walnut and the dark chocolate peanut butter chip and they were both to die for. The line is long so don't expect to get in and out quick but it's worth the wait.
