Loved each and every item especially the mango-passion fruit tart. That was amazing
This outpost of the famed NYC boulangerie is worth the trip. It is almost impossible not to be tempted by every single, mouth watering item. Be prepared to overspend and hunt for parking if the small lot is filled.
Expensive, but worth it. Can easily drop $50 on various treats. Baguettes and croissants are goto items.
Tasty pastries. Love almond croissants.
(Translated by Google) Most French bakery. Good value for money compared to nearby Korean Bakery Bread. Stump coffee beans are also available. (Original) 가장 프랑스풍 베이커리. 근처의 한국 제과점 빵에 비해 가격대비 훌륭. 스텀프 커피원두도 구입가능.
Delicious freshly baked goods. What more can you ask for?? It can get super packed inside but well worth the wait.
Good bread, but sometimes they will charge you extra because you can't see the prices getting chalked up. Service was a little on the rude side. A little pricey, but great quality.
I dream of it
Best bakery in NJ. Everything is amazing here.
I buy their bread at DeCicco’s I love it. ❤️
I love French pastries that stay true to the recipe and didn't Americanize itself. It's not overly sweet but very delicious. They don't skimp on the fillings and there's an abundance of desserts, breads, cookies etc to choose from. There's something here for everyone. All fresh. Prices are fair for this good quality. I would come here everyday if I lived closer. Park across the street in the lot where all the delivery trucks are if you don't want to wait for a spot. Expect a line but worth the wait.
It's pretty rare to have a good quality local bakery to go to. I'm fortunate to live close to Balthazar. I know that everytime I walk in and order bread, it is fresh and high quality. I can also expect seasonal new specials every week. What makes it even better is that it's affordable and competitive. You really can't go wrong here.
Awesome food and staff
The absolute, unquestionable and most fine bakery in the state of New Jersey. 5 stars, AAAAA+++++
Edit-11/25/17- I'm editing my review and deducting a star. It seems the bakery has increased the price of baguettes to $2.50. In addition the baguettes are smaller than they used to be. Originally the loaves were almost the same size as the bag, but now there's ~6 inches more bag than bread. THIS is a bakery. I go there almost every day for a baguette. Almost everything on display is fantastic. The price is steep, but you're paying for real food.
Don't let the size fool you, this tiny bakery is the little brother to it's bigger establishment in NYC but makes bread that can be smelled blocks before your arrival. I had a few danishes and yes, they were a delight. Parking can be tough and there is almost ALWAYS a line but good things come to those who wait and this my friend... is worth the wait.
Ultimate bakery that makes baking an art. Have been patronizing them for years and will continue to do so. Their specialty breads are addictive.
Amazing goodies and delish breads. French bread is a must. Monkey bread is super good. Highly recommend ham chz croissant!
Best bakery in Northern NJ. If you know the restaurant in SOHO this is where their baked goods come from.
I have never been disappointed at this bakery. EVERYTHING is fresh and delicious.
This is about high-class baked calories. Everything is divine. I just wish they’d label their goods so I wouldn’t have to wait 20 minutes for each person in line ahead of me asking, “What is that?” “What’s in that?” “Does that have nuts?” And so on.
(Translated by Google) A great bread factory. A store that sells by direct retail is small space that is full even if only five people stand. There is a lot of guests in the morning. I have recently repaired and got a little room, but it is small. The process of making bread all looks like glass windows. It is an old building, but it can be seen directly that it is produced in order cleanly. Especially the taste of bread is more delicious than anywhere else. I visit every Saturday morning because I buy bread once a week. Sunday is also available in the morning. It is a bakery that I strongly recommend. It is said to be used in a fine dining restaurant in New Jersey.
The smell, the taste... all delicious.
The best!
Best French Toast ever. Worth the $18. Seriously.
Best bakery in NJ. Everything is fantastic
Fresh and delicious. The monkey bread is amazing! Usually a wait.
Amazing pastries and bread.

Commerical bakery but with a small town feel
Definitely the best bakery I have been to I US
Amazing bakery. We got a private tour and saw how they make these amazing baked goods.
Great breads and bakeries!
Bread and food taste really good but parking can be a bit of a problem on weekends.
Best bakery in NJ
Beautiful pastry shop.

Best bakery in the area. Great staff and amazing baked sweets
I'd drive to Jersey again just for this place...perfection in pastry form!!
Good!!!
So many delicious items here! Excellent baguette!
Damn good
Beef empanada's are delicious!
I've never seen a place like this. Wow! What an amazing place. Real bakery/factory.
Worst staff ever. The bread is of good quality, but staff can not handle the pressure of the line and their behavior is ridiculous. I am not going to by a good bread with the price of that behaviour
bread and pastries are delicious. Expensive but worth it.
Great selection of pastries, but we especially enjoyed the croissants and apple turnover, which they are quick to run out of, so be sure to get their bright and early. The location is a fun sight to see especially with the glass walls that let you peer into the baking process itself. Take some time to take it all in.
It's just a in and out bakery with no lounge area. They only have coffee as an option and tons of delicious treats.
Not many better without crossing the Atlantic.
Just wonderful!! Delicious and special!
Super
Best bread and pastries around.
The best of everything ni words to describe how good is this place
A great bakery from the bread, from a chibata to a raisin pecan, the gilates with various vegetables and cheese, to my favorite of all their sticky buns.
Balthazar is a candy store for adults.
Great breads; long lines in Sunday.
World's best
So very yummy bread. Never thought of a plain bread would be that good. But as mentioned on one of review, I had a feeling they charged extra or something since they're not giving me my receipt. make sure you get your receipt! and prepared for the long line of wait.
Always get PECAN CRANBERRY LOAF large one, it lasts me for 3-4 days. The best bakery around this area. Lately some Asian bakeries popped up with fancy looking pastries. They are OK, too. This bakery has more that what they have. My favorite bakery.
The bake goods are delicious, especially the chocolate croissants.
Best bread & pastries.
The best. My favorites are their mini sticky buns, apple danish and petite pan. The 500 pound mountain of butter is pretty impressive too.
Great bread !
Awesome bakery. Rosemary wheel is
This is a large bakery with a diverse selection of pastries. Everything is made from scratch. The taste of the bread & pastry are fresh and rich.
What a great bakery. You can't go wrong any kinds of breads or deserts. Parking lot has some issues, becareful when you leave parkinglot.
Great bakery products. Reputation is county- wide.
Terrible service and staff are rude. When I went into Balthazar, I bought two loafs of bread. When I received the bag, I did not check if I had the two breads, so I walked to my car. When I looked to see what was in the bag, I only found one loaf. I went back into the store and I told the cashier that I did not receive my other loaf of bread. She screamed at me and said that she SAW me take the two loafs of bread to my car. I said that I did not have the two loafs and that I wanted another one. She kept arguing with me, until another woman that was also in the store when I was there, walked in and said, "Sorry. I took another bag by accident." When she said this, I was so upset and furious at the cashier, she was basically calling me a THIEF. I told her that I am not a thief and the way she treated me was unacceptable and unprofessional. She did not even apologize. I will NEVER come to this place again and I am truly shocked that she treated me this way. I wouldn't recommend buying anything from here.
Your staff is professional, courteous and efficient; and the baked goods are spectacular! Even when is over crowded no waiting time The BESTin the industry
I loved this place... :)
Very good food
Balthazar is the quintessential French bakery everything they make is too delicious and the service is excellent as well
If you have never been there, you are quite simply missing out. Best French bakery in town - any town - and I lived in Paris for 12 years :-)
The best brownies. Tasty and delicious.
Expensive and long lines but worth it
Delicious bread and cozy place
The is a Gem, there are not much good stuff here in NJ . I've worked in Paris for many years, and this place is the closest to the real thing so far. Maison Kayser is the closest competition, but they are at a lower tier.
Great products, nasty customer harassing my friend about her service dog. I felt comfortable and got my goodies and paid and left abrubtly. Man was out of control with comments. Demeanor. Tone, and perception. Best bakery in area
Delicious! As expected, store opens at 7am on the dot. Staff is super helpful and efficient. First time and certaintly won't be the last! Almond croissants were my fav but all pastries were excellent!

Best baked goods on this side of the Hudson. Everything is good, seriously, so choose what looks nice to you. Cheese Danish and Palmier highly recommended.
Ok Google, you do not have to shame me. Yes, I frequent this baking establishment.
Balthazar bakery; there's just simply no competition.
Excellent bakery. I love their mango tart and almond croissant. Their baguette is also excellent.
Best bakery ever! Just wish they'd offer that Paysanne bread more often. It is stunningly delicious!
French technique done to perfection! i have no problem stating this is the best bakery in NJ , old world style breads , the sourdough rye, baguette and seeded rolls are some of my go to items. The pastries, tarts , galletes , croissants, caneles, financier and cookies are delicious and top notch! prices are on the high end but worth the splurge!
What's not to love about this place? Their pastry selection is fresh daily, with a huge variety for anyone to find at least one item to enjoy. The staff is friendly and keeps the busy line moving smoothly. So glad this is here in NJ!
Best bakery in NJ & NY. Balthazar serves lots of breads and pastry. They have a factory in NJ. You you can enjoy very fresh bread and sweets. I always order small brochu for my mini burgers. Great great! Pro : clean, fresh, lots of kinds Con : no seating area
Absolutely wonderful bake goods. After coming here once you will be addicted. I haven't had such perfect baked goods since France. They are perfect when we have guest staying over..our friends have actually requested specific items when they stay over...i suggest anyone try this bakery they won't be disappointed
Best in the area!!
Just a lovely place with a ton of amazing treats and goodies love there different baked breads have a hard time determining which one is best .
Love this place
Good quality and selection
This is the bakery that I go to to get baked goods for special occasions. Great selection of breads. Delicious cakes and tarts. Expensive, but worth it.
Butter, butter and more butter. Breads, croissants, pastries, cookies, all fantastic. Lines can get long in weekends but never more than a 10 minute wait.
Excelente pan hecho bajo estrictas reglas de calidad y buen sabor.
Great place with great tasting breads and other baked goods. Second to none.
The best fresh bread...I stop by every time i am in the neighborhood. No sugar, no nothing, just good fresh bread and nice service.
Great products but, can get super crowded on weekends and has a very tiny retail space for people to wait on line.
This bakery can get swamped at times, making in-and-out service trivial. The days offerings are set to delight, whether you're looking for a whole loaf or just a treat of gallette. Everything here is top-notch tastey and the textures sublime.
Simply superb. Memories of Munich.
Delicious local bakery. Delivers to many local restaurants as well as having a sales counter.
Great for some pastries. I like the croissants myself. The best part is the coffee. I only gave it 3 stars because it seems so usual in my morning routine. Others might give it 5.
The cookies and cakes are delicious. The bread loafs themselves worth the travel. Expensive, delicious, but it is a small crowded place. If you want a specific cake you better call and order in advanced. There key lime pie and the pecan pie are my favorites
The best bakery ever!
Bread with nuts and fruits are fantastic. But little bit pricy.
Very good brownies. Very sweet.
A Hidde Gem in the area
The best bread and pastries. Very delicious
One of Best bakery in Bergen county
Lucky to know this shop and My family enjoys it.
One of the best bakeries in town
Everything they make here is amazing. I can not get enough of their almond croissants and whole wheat crescent bread. Expect to wait at least 15-20 min on the weekends, the line goes out the door but its worth the wait!
Great pastries, cakes, and breads. Staff is friendly and does their best to keep the line moving. Pricy, but you're paying for quality.
Very helpful staff,
Excellent, less expensive than NYC stores and much fresher. Its true you should count your purchases when the store is extra crowded but they make mistakes in both directions. I suggest you order one of each
