Normally I would say it's great, but today they shocked me. I asked for a house salad to stay. They brought it to my table in a take away container on top of a plate. Trying to eat it at a small take with the bulk of the take away container was aweful. Besides these are suppose to be made to order, but getting it in this fashion really makes me question the freshness of the food. The least they could have done would have been to take it out of the container and put it on the plate for me.

My fiancee and I love coming to Umpleby's. They have amazing chocolate truffles, and they make a mean mocha too! Also recommend their croissants.

Coffee is OK, but the espresso drinks suck. Got a double shot espresso, essentially expensive strong coffee, nothing close to what a shot should taste like. The server was unpleasant. She screwed up my drink a couple of times. Each time I tried to expalin the order and the issue, and each time she did the same thing. Finally figured out where the communication went wrong and she got it right, and instead of some victory in the resolution, she acted as if I had insulted her God and family and scoweled at me the rest of the morning. Not pleasant. On a good note the AM food is yummy.!!

Best breakfast in Hanover, hands down. Get yourself a number 2 - bacon, egg, avocado, tomato, and cheddar on a choice of fresh bread. It's divine!

A cute place with good time food, but the service and attention to detail left something to be desired. The cashier had trouble with calculating change and seemed uncomfortable in her role. My sandwich tasted nice, but then I noticed that the red pepper still had the sticker on it. Still a nice venue for coffee and a light bite while catching up with friends.

Quick service, interesting and tasty sandwiches at a decent price. Cool building and interesting shop - high ceilings, wood everywhere, creaky floor. Also a bit loud when it's busy. Overall, a good sandwich shop I'll visit again.

The staff was nice enough, but when I bit into the pastry it didn't taste like much but a day old, bland croissant. Scone was equally below average. Coffee was fine.

Everything he seems lovely and home made, but nothing is particularly jaw dropping - it is a very solid lunch place, with prices a bit on the high side for what it is. It is a 3 star place with a 5 star ambient and service, thus making it 4 star total

Despite their claim of "fresh baked" everything tasted old and stale. We got three overpriced #1 breakfast sandwiches and they were slippery greasy in a bad way, they tasted like oily cooking spray and one of the sandwiches was burned black on top of the bread. I got a very small mocha which was so bitter I could not finish. The cashier working was delightful and I feel bad that she has to deliver such subpar food. It was disappointing to say the least since I had heard good things about this place.

I like it a lot! Two days in a row of trying to go to Dirt Cowboy and both days they are closed at 2 pm without warning. So I came on down here! I recommend it. Nice and open, relaxing space, with a great patio. I wish more people knew or talked about this place in the Upper Valley. I’m drinking espresso right now and feeling NICE!

A good option for some cafe style grub and drinks. It does have seasonal outdoor seating which can be pleasant. I can speak much for the service or quality of drinks other than the takeout sandwiches were decent.

I stopped by one afternoon when there were Harley and people in the place and I was completely ignored. I stood off to the side quietly waiting to be helped but both counter workers were talking to another customer.i tried to make eye contact and looked around for a clock. After finally being asked if I was all set I said politely that I was not able that I was hoping get something quickly before having to return to work. I got a sense that the cashier did not like me and freely very uncomfortable.i ended up saying nevermind and walking out. I will try again and hope that I get soon being having a better day!

Let's start with the bad- the service. Everyone was friendly and meant well, but there were errors galore, and corrections were slow in coming. It seemed like at least two of the servers were new, or at least poorly trained and clearly overwhelmed by the lunch rush. They did provide us with some free cookies for the inconveniences, which is nice (they were delicious). Fortunately, the food is very good. Both soups offered were excellent, as was the sandwich. Their rolls and bread were very good, possibly the best in the area in the non-crusty genre (gotta go KAF for that). I'd be interested to try their pasties and meat pies next time around. I also tried an espresso- better than Starbucks, but you'd be better off taking a trip across the street to Morano or Dirt Cowboy for your afternoon caffeine boost. Overall, worth a trip if you are feeling patient and are in no hurry.

Great little cafe with delicious sandwiches. They could really use an overhaul on their order-taking system because it's super slow and inefficient. Sometimes the line goes out the door and it doesn't move quickly. But if I'm not in a rush, this is one of my favorite places to setup shop and work for an afternoon. They're so nice and it's an easy, comfortable atmosphere.

Off the main drag means it is quiter than the competition. The outside has plenty of comfy seating options, free WiFi but the inside could use a coat of paint and deep cleaning to spruce it up. Coffee was fair. Lemon tart was very tart but the crust was a little overdone for my taste.
