Great baked goods and food
Excellent coffee and scones. The ready bake pie crusts are good. They have a simple and healthy lunch menu. Love this one.
Very good pastries. Eclectic recipes (scones, quiche, etc.) that's very flavorful.
Great pies and lunch options
Always great. Hardest decision is what (or how many) to indulge in.
This small but charming bakery is too remarkable to pass up! I've been sampling some of the local shops in Worthington in hopes of finding a nice place to relax and have a bite to eat. One Saturday afternoon, I stepped into Sassafras and was delightfully greeted by a healthy crowd and smiling staff. The interior has an inviting rustic look that's complimented with quaint bakery themed nicnacs. Their cases were full of familiar yet unique delicacies and their menu has so many great options that it was hard to decide what to try first. I settled on the turkey sandwich, house made root beer and a lime cheesecake bar. The turkey sandwich far exceeded my expectations! Their turkey was juicy and appeared to be freshly carved. It was was topped with tomato, lettuce and I think pickled cauliflower? Dressed with some sort of mayo that I couldn't resist licking off my fingers, all sandwiched between fresh soft bread with a crisp crust. The lime bar was sinnfuly delicious! It had a fluffy texture with a rich flavor similar to keylime pie without being overly tart. I was further impressed by their homemade root beer. It's as fizzy as I hoped for and flavorful with (of course) sassafras! By the time I finished, I was already contemplating what to take home with me. I opted for their new Ohio Honey Lavendar latte. Their espresso contains floral notes which works beautifully with steamed Snowville milk and house made syrup. It was absolutely phenomenal! Hopefully they keep that flavor. I also snagged the last fudgy brownie which I savored every bite of and an adorable hedgehog sugar cookie
On Saturday they serve the best freaking cinnamon rolls I've ever had in my entire life! Their coffee is good, but their hot chocolate had an unexpected spice in it I can't quite put my finger on (cinnamon??) That I didn't love. There are small parking lots nearby but I usually just park on the street. Lots of interesting shops within walking distance so you can make a day of exploring!
Excellent!! Never been disappointed with food or service!
Enjoyed the best gallette I've had in years at Sassafras bakery. They have unique and traditional offering and the sampling of goodies I've had were fantastic! Try the Lemon Rosemary cookie. It will change your life. Also go during happy hour for free coffee or milk with your goodies! Enjoy! Worth the trip to Old Worthington.
I was expecting a delicious afternoon meal when I found Sassafras Bakery on google. Unfortunately, the entire experience was a let down. The service was OK. Ambiance was OK. Tomato soup was bland. Quiche was surprisingly bland and underdone. Overall, I was not impressed with anything going on there and would not recommend this place to anyone. It could be a really great little place with some tweaks to the recipes and maybe a little added flare to the interior. I will say, the music they had playing was great.
All of the treats we have tried have been phenomenal! This bakery is adorable and everything is made with love.
Always delicious! Try the pie and farro salad
Hands down best pie I have ever had.
Absolutely fabulous sweets boutique
I've said it a bunch of times and I'll say it again, I am so glad we scored with having Sassafras in Old Worthington!! The storefront is cozy and the seating area is set up well for hanging out and enjoying a great breakfast sandwich or one their incredible quiches. And you cant leave without picking up one of their yummy donut muffins!!!
I've never had a bad bite at this from-scratch bakery. The addition of sandwiches and salads is great, and the quality is amazing. Egg sandwich battles for best in city. #itsthatgood
Great
The pies, cookies, GF chocolate truffles and more are so delicious. The quaint seating area is perfect for one on one time with a friend or reading a book. From personal experience, I highly recommend eating in, carrying out a coffee and donut muffin, or ordering a pie for the holidays.
I have never had a bad Sassafras experience. Their baked goods are some of the best in Columbus, the coffee is great, service is always good.
Go on Saturday to get the cinnamon rolls!
The egg sandwich is amazing - they will even make it into a salad. Donut muffins are delicious as well, on Sundays they make them filled with jelly. Great staff
I work right above at CoHatch. This little place is a GEM! Wonderful pastries and sandwiches. I strongly recommend to those who have a sweet tooth or savory tooth like me!
Very nice staff. Great sandwiches. Good cookies
Quiche was delicious!! Brewed coffee was from Brioso. Cute place to hang out in the morning, do some studying or reading too
It's a cute coffee shop
This was a very quaint place with tasty baked goods.
A cozy little place with cakes, pies and more baked goods-- both savory & sweet. Drop in, pick something out, grab a coffee and take a seat up front near the window...the next few minutes will be magical! Go today, you won't regret it!
I really love the baked goods here. A favorite are the peach/basil scones (all their scones are good) and the lemon lavender cookies.
Yum! Pies like your grandmother makes. Cute and clean inside.
You must try the salty ohio maple syrup pie! It literally tasted like the best waffle I've ever had in my life!
Ya know, I don’t review places often. But the quiche I just at here at Sassafras compelled me to shout to the world how just fantastic this place is. This bakery/cafe is tiny, humble and lovely. The coffee was hot, and I was offered a free refill without even asking. But folks, I wanna talk about this quiche. It was sweet potato, goat cheese and spinach, and it, without question, is top ten on the list of things I’ve ever eaten. It’s light and rich at the same time (that shouldn’t be possible). And the crust? I’d pay twice the price of the quiche just for the crust. It’s that good. All that said, please don’t eat the quiche — I want it to myself.
Yum, yum love their savvy scones!
Some of the best coffee in town! And their quiches are super tasty. They do not have free wifi, which I simultaneously appreciate and am bummed about. I would spend way more time there if they did but then so would everyone and it would be mobbed.
Delicious! I recommend everything!
Delicious sandwiches great friendly service
A very good small bakery offering delicious, yet adventurous down home baking- love their Lemon Rosemary cookie! Breakfast items are also very well done and a must for brunch. I come for the large country biscuit & sausage gravy but their egg/bacon snadwhich might be the best thing I've had for breakfast in a very long time.
Absolutely delicious friendly staff and plesant ambience!
Charming spot with decent coffee. More importantly: the egg souffle sandwich was reallh tasty. I had to pass up on all the pastries, but they looked fantastic.
Amazing Carmel pecan rolls!!!
Excellent!!!! Great people too.
Charming and relaxing place in Worthington. The staff is very welcoming, the food is good and the coffee has good flavor. I had the Turkey sandwich is packed full of flavor that delights the palette and makes its consumer what to savor each bite. The Whitaker Review
I love this bakery. Everything I've had has been delicious. The quiche Lorraine was especially good!
Great Pies, wonderful muffins and cookies. A great treat. We stop there every Saturday during farmer's market.
This place is so awesome! Fresh baked scones, muffins, quiches, wonderful sandwiches too! Coffee drinks are very good, Mackenzie is such a pleasure when greeting people, she is so sweet with kids too! Definitely a huge fan of this place, from the owner to the staff, to the menu, all of the baked goods....you can't go wrong here!!!
Like finding a unicorn The only place I've ever found my favorite sugar cream pie and she makes it exactly right according to the old depression era grandma recipes. Quiches are pretty good in store and I live that you can buy her homemade crusts for cheap to make your own pies at home!
Amazing Sandwiches and Pies!!! Look no further! The brined turkey and pork sandwiches were rediculously good!!
Everything about this place is lovely. Highly recommend you try everything. Cookie Happy hour Wednesday-Friday 3-5 $2 cookie free glass of milk or coffee is a wonderful after school treat!
The people who work there are nice and make quality pastries
Outstanding!
Pros: -Delicious baked goods, sandwiches, salads, and decent coffee -Dessert options vary slightly day-to-day -Dedicated parking spots available -Cute store, kind of similar to a Primitive Store, less generic Gentrification Store™️ Cons: (most are nitpicky, but still to be considered) -Very pricey, makes Fox in the Snow look like McDonald's -Unbelievably stuffy white clientele, like laughably so -A little unreliable. Came in for cold brew one morning at 10am and they didn't have any. Luckily Highline Coffee is just up the street -Cold brew plastic cup lids are terrible and likely to leak regardless of care or fill of the cup -No wifi. I generally don't care, but my Verizon data just cuts off right when stepping in to the store. The reason given is to just "sit and enjoy pie". Pretentious anti technology stuff like that is annoying. My attached picture may just be a coincidence, idk
Super friendly and patient as we made our decision (it wasn't easy
I went in for a light breakfast and ordered a piece of quiche. The person working the counter seemed less than pleased regarding my order. I was then informed that it would be 25 min before I could have it. I asked why and was told that they will only reheat the quiche in an oven, they do not possess a microwave. I guess it's a nice idea that they don't microwave stuff, but it seems like there can be a reasonable balance somewhere between extreme slow-food dogmatism and microwave-cooked junk. What drives the 2 star rating is that the entire transaction was unpleasant because of the attitude of the cashier. The food was fine, but Im not interested in dealing with a grouch to get it.
A must visit downtown Worthington bakery. The cookies, pastries, and pies are all delicious. The sandwiches, quiches, and other savory choices are excellent. This is a wonderful place.
Amazing little bakery in the heart of Worthington. They have the best cinnamon rolls around on the weekend. They always seem to have different pies and seasonal treats. I love the sea salt chocolate chip cookies. They recently extended their hours which is awesome!
Get the Salted Maple Pie and the sweet potato quiche!
This is my favorite bakery in the city. Staff is always friendly but the food, the food is the absolute best!!! My favs are the cinnamon rolls, donut muffin, and the quiches are outstanding.
Awesome sandwiches, delicious seasonal lemonade flavors, loved the cookies too
Although very small, the baked goods are delicious and staff friendly.
If you're looking for delicious baked goods, look no further! They have your typical scones, tarts, muffins, cookies, but then also amazing non-traditional flavours like a chai tea cookie! On top of that, it's a very pretty space to relax for a bit with a lot of greenery up near the front
Amazing food, delicious made-from-scratch baked goods, fun atmosphere
The cinnamon roll was out of this world!!
