This Bakery belongs to the category of American restaurant.
Great menu and specials, accommodated our allergy modifications.
Food very delicious and friendly place
The Blue Owl never disappoints. We had the trios (pick any 3: soup, salad, 1/2 sandwich, or dessert). All courses were great, especially the chocolate covered strawberry cheesecake and caramel apple pie! Our service was great (even during the Strawberry Festival). Highly recommended!
Love love loved this place! We will definitely be going back. Mary was a delight, and so were the rest of her employees! They have a gluten free menu and were sure to double check everything I ordered. I had the Lunch Trio and was able to substitute the croissant with gluten free bread. I also had the strawberry salad which is now my absolute favorite salad. I don't usually prefer a lot of dressing on my salad but the poppy seed dressing was so good that I wanted more! And of course, don't forget the dessert!
Our waitress was great and the food was amazing.
Dont get the fried chicken, no taste! At all all I could taste was oil and flower no salt or any other season and we were not the only table that thought the same!
A very quaint little restaurant and delicious food, services and atmosphere. Enjoyed it!
Always a delightful experience!
This restaurant is a hidden treasure! Situated 25 minutes south of St Louis in an old home in a tiny town, the ambience is so cute and their food is so good. Four of us went, all ordered something different, and everything was amazing. I would say they specialize in comfort food. Their pies are fantastic (we sampled five)! Honestly, the strawberry rhubarb doesn't look any better than a store-bought pie does. However, looks can be deceiving! It's a fantastic pie with a perfect crust, just like Grandma used to make. Their levee apple pie with optional caramel sauce (get the sauce) is fantabulous! Apples are perfectly cooked (not mushy). Cheesecakes are also incredible. Definitely worth the drive!
Greeting nice, waitress fun and fast, food great as usual. Love , we do mothers day and many more .just us sisters 4.
Wonderful place to visit and enjoy a awesome meal.
We came here for lunch..the strawberry salad is great .loved the poppy seed dressing.. soup was delisious so was the chicken salad sandwich. This is a wonderful place for top noch food and service. If you have room for desert , have some levee high apple pie. All there deserts are to die for.
Great place to eat and friendly service
Quaint little place in the middle of a little shopping village. I will be back for pie another day.
Food was delicious and atmosphere was enjoyable
If your sweet tooth can't get fixed here then your out of luck. Soooooo many selections to choose from. Get your pie on!
Very warm and friendly family place. Great selection of sandwiches/soups/salads. The best part is their famous desserts. Food is very good but you must save room for a piece of daily made pies and cheese cakes. Lots of other choices too.
Food was great and our server was excellent. Filled us with laughter and great service.
The atmosphere was good, and so was the good. Great get away during the week.
OUTSTANDING!!! This is a +10!! EXCELLENT in every way. The FOOD was DELICIOUS!! This was our first time at the Blue Owl & we look forward to returning soon! The owner was most welcoming & we enjoyed the conversation with her. The young man was a terrific server & right on in his suggestions!
Every bit as wonderful as could be. Try the quiche.
Very cozy place and amazing service. Super impressive for a special family gathering.
Great food! Great Service. Come to be spoiled, be sure to stay for dessert.
Wonderful service great food and so quaint
We were there on a senior bus trip for lunch. Naturally our menus was limited. What we had was good. Also on their menue for us was their poems for desert. Oh my what a selection. They had large helpings and were they good. You could get almost any variety you could think of. If you are in the area, try not to miss this one.
Visited during the strawberry festival. Restaurant was super busy, but the staff took it in stride, and were fantastic. Cannot recommend the pies enough...get one (or 3), and find somewhere you can go where you don't need to share!
A wonderful place to have lunch or dinner very well-known for desserts and white chili we go once a year for sure such a special place to visit recommended for everyone❤❤❤
Service was great,food was outstanding.
Seams as though the menu specifically caters to an older demographic. And it's a little pricey.
My favorite part is the dessert!! I usually go for the slice if the Levee High Apple pie, warm & a la mode is the best or the two-fer cheesecake stuffed carrot cake with cream cheese icing! Lunch is better than breakfast lately because they seem to get busy so some of the breakfast items taste like they were waiting for you instead of made to order. But bare in mind it’s tea time portions on some items which help you save room for dessert of course!! Worth the trip for your sweet tooth!
Delicious food, great service! Save room for dessert!
The owl is located in kimmswick a small town been there for a long time they have a lot of festivals down there there's also a lot of shops on there was a lot of antiques handmade items food and make products close chairs tables large amounts of things for collectors to go look at beautiful place to go view nice to visit you in on the weekends when there's nothing being done with the blue eyes open every day hours check make sure you find your local listings for that restaurant thank you God bless you and God bless America
Food was great gonna get their Apple pies wow
Excellent food and service!
Food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and the service was excellent.
Beef vegetable soup and white chili superb. Try the triple pick for 3 of soup or half sandwich or salad or dessert. Breakfast and lunch only. Dessert chooses include pies, cakes, cheesecake. They also have cookies.
Great food and service!
Their pies are amazing! Their food is amazing! Their service is amazing! Every time I go to Kimmswick, I have to visit The Blue Owl. It's got a cute old-fashioned country feel inside. I also like that you can go over to the counter and look at all of the yummy desserts before you choose. Keep in mind when eating there that it DOES get crowded because it is so amazing, so call ahead, go on a rainy day when not many people are out, or plan on waiting a bit. But if you do have to wait! It is definitely worth it!
Absolutely incredible pie. Go here, it's worth it!
The waitress was pleasant; but the food came out cold. My biscuits were oversized and cold. My gravy was cold, had a skim over it, and was not to my taste. My eggs were cold, as were my American fries. I ordered a piece of French Silk pie. Whatever they call their version, it was not a French Silk that I've ever tasted. And the apple pie was not to my taste. If the food had been hot, it would have helped. But nothing will help the disappointment over the French Silk pie. I agree with another reviewer, that the topping tastes like cool whow not real whipped cream. All in all, your experience may be better; but I will not return. Addendum: Three hours in the car at 80°, the chocolate melted, and the topping looks as fresh as if it was just put on. Definitely not real whipped cream.
Great food and nostalgic setting on the River town.
This place is amazing the food is to die for. The selections are awesome. The amount of food you get so the amount you pay is worth it. Don't forget to save room for dessert. The gooey butter cake cheesecake is to die for.
Nice place..good food and very nice waitress Mary Kate..
Food was good. Nothing fantastic. Waitress had a little attitude and she did not know how to properly serve people. She reached across people to hand out food/drink. Desserts are awesome, of course!
Lovely place with lovely people.
Good food sweet and friendly workers beautiful pleasant atmosphere not too expensive
I have never been there but want to go very badly. I know several people that have and they loved it. Delicious entrees and Mile High coconut cream and banana meringue covered pies and many more great bakery and dessert items.
This was our first visit and it was great! I got the "trio" which included a smoked turkey crossiant, white chicken chili, and dessert. Everything was very tasty. You definitely have to get a dessert if you are here; they all look amazing! The restaurant has a cute old fashioned vibe. We'll be back for sure.
Every one was very nice. Decor was a bit too out of date grandma. Food wasn't bad nor was it great. Seemed a little over priced for what was served.
Well known eatery, especially for "Mile HIgh" levee pie. Can be hard to get a table, but worth while.
Thw food was wonderful I had a small chicken salad crescent a salad and 3 cookies. This is a lunch special and there are many sets of three to choice from. I did think the price was a little pricey. $22. For lunch is not something I do every day. However I was with my girlfriends and we were enjoying the Christmas festival in Kimmswick Mo. I had a wonderful day will go back again.
Great home cooking. Awesome dessert spread. Don't usually stay for dessert but you should plan on it. Daughter ordered the best looking biscuits and gravy I have ever seen in a restaurant. Biscuits were huge.
Foods very delicious
Blue Owl is the centerpiece of what Kimmswick has to offer. Be prepared to wait depending on what time of day you visit, but I can tell you that EVERYTHING is worth the wait, especially the desserts they are known for. You will definitely want to save room.
Too many choices! Very yummy
The quality of the food has diminished the last couple of years in my opinion. It’s pricey for what you receive. I ordered a tropical salad today and received wilted bagged salad greens, very little romaine in the mix, sparse strawberry slices and zero pineapple, blueberries or oranges. The white chili was very salty. It was disappointing. The waitress was sweet and efficient.
Wonderful place to go. The food is very good and desserts are wonderful
Great food just don't order a full biscuits and gravy and expect it to be a small get a half order
Food. And Atmosphere.decoration.
Best pie and cake anywhere. Great food also, try the chicken.
Enjoyed Soup of the Day, creamy spinach with bacon. I've never has a bad meal there.
Exceptional service, friendly staff, great food!!
Friendly people and amazing fried pie!
Great experience! Love the server outfits and the whole atmosphere! My french toast was incredible!
Can't say enough great things about all their food, so tasty. Best desserts and great atmosphere.
Lovely setting, old country charm, awesome food and service. My favorite place to eat.
This was my first time going & its everything I've heard about plus some. Very lovely place with alot of homey touches.
Great vegetable soup, more like a stew w/o the meat, but VERY flavorful. Had the pecan pie. It was to die for. The others in a party of eleven all had desserts, just as good - coconut cream, chocolate silk, all were yummy. They are super busy on Saturdays, but we had a reservation.
Kim was a great waitress!! Food was very good. Desserts were out of this world! Well done.
Food quality is excellent as was the service.
Quaint restaurant serving American eats. The spinach artichoke quiche and egg salad are favorites of mine. My Mom loves the open faced roast beef. Don't skip dessert. The mile high apple pie is all right (visually stunning but average taste) but the brownie cheesecake is wonderful! This places gets crowded on the weekends and is very small inside, so visit on off peak times or be prepared to wait.
Great ambiance, like taking a time machine back into 1930s Americana. The food is excellent and of course the pies are famous.
Dropped by for those phenomenal dessets!
Quiet little place to eat and catch up
Really good food. The place was busy. Service was slow unfortunately. Still good overall
I really enjoyed my visit here with my mother for her 60th birthday. The food was great and so was the service. They even had a gluten free menu!
Ordered a whole carrot cheesecake for Easter and it was delicious! Everyone loved it. The price wasn't bad for the size considering it was a cheesecake and carrot cake in one. I've paid as much for 8 in decorated birthday cakes at other local bakeries that don't feed near as many as this cake. Would definitely get again and I highly recommend.
Love getting to have this treat when we have dr appts. The strawberry salad is to die for
Great food and service.
Always a great meal here. They have indoor seating including a sun room, and an area to hold things like baby showers etc. The desserts are to die for of course, but the food is also delicious. Brunch is so good! The salads, sandwiches, and soups are always tasty. Cute, quaint little place with very reasonable prices.
Very busy, even on a weekday. So many good menu choices. Tried the Trio for a taste of things. Don't forget to get dessert, or grab something to take home! Great service as always, thanks to Mary and her staff!!
We didn't have to wait to be seated. My wife had the fried chicken, and I had the country fried steak. Good crispness in the outer coating. The desserts will not disappoint. You will not leave hungry, even if you manage to finish everything.
First time we've actually ate there. Great food excellent service we will be coming back!!!
Go there every time with family, when I fly in from Texas, always delicious!
Went to Blue Owl to celebrate mother-in-laws 91st birthday. The food was excellent and the service was great. We will go back and eat their again also visit their bakery section.
Went in for breakfast and were very satisfied with the result. The biscuits and gravy had a wonderful unique flavor. A half order is plenty for a side item to split. I got the sausage with my traditional breakfast and the two patties were huge. My wife was not a fan of the coffee and some of the other items in our meal were a bit bland, but overall a good experience. Service was good and parking easy. From other visits to the area during lunch and dinner, I can confirm this place gets very busy. The interior is kind of faux turn of the century frontier.
Wonderful service and food. Very pleasant and comfortable.
My family has been going here for years, but this was my boyfriend's first time. He and I were in town for the Strawberry Festival and decided to stop in. The food was amazing as always as well as the service! Definitely glad we stopped in and worth the wait!
The main meal and atmosphere was very nice, however, they are famous for their desserts. So disappointed! They use a "cool whip-like" substance, not real whipped cream! The pie was awful! Pretty, yes, but terrible, chemical-tasting.
No trip to visit family is complete without a stop at the Blue Owl!! Food is delicious and the building is very quaint. And don't forget to take home a dessert for later!!
Soup was cold
Great food and amazing Levy high apple pie!
Drove an hour to have lunch with my family for the 1st time EVER. Out of the apple pie I drove for when I tried to order. I was disappointed, BUT the service, ambiance, and food that we had was INCREDIBLE. Now I have an excuse to come back.
Great food, cozy place to eat.
Good food, busy place
What an interesting restaurant...nice decor, friendly service, very good food, and enough seating to accommodate the crowds who visit Kimswick.
Very nice restaurant that was recommended to us. Great food and great service. And the deserts!
Great place. Very good pastry. Nice patio outside.
Best fried chicken dinner. Love the salad. Service is great. One if my all time favorite restaurants. Never disappoints. Great job.
Quaint country charm and hardy portions of delicious food. We really enjoyed the Quiche Lorraine with a tasty Mimosa!
Blue owl, was fantastic, Had a great time good food and lots of family!
Great food, great desserts. They have an option to get salad or soup, an entree, and a slice of dessert for a fair price. Will be back again!
Best pies in the state
An extensive selection of pies & desserts. They serve food too. A little off the beaten path but worth your time.
Very busy but our waiter was great
The food was delicious and the service was very good , great ambiance
Soooo very delicious.
Will never go back, not sure what the draw is, atmosphere is great, bakery case greets you as you walk in the main dining room. Very enticing . We all had the Trio sampler. There's two portion extremes when going out to eat. Too much and very little. Our experience was the very little portion. Sprinkling of greens with 4 strawberry slices, drowning in dressing. Slice of quiche. Pretty sure that quiche had been sliced into 12 portions. 4 bites it was gone, and still quite famished, the exciting part dessert! Oh how I enjoy dessert. French silk pie, grainy (guess they forgot the silk aspect) so sickly sweet . Way overpriced, left hungry.
Oh my goodness! Great food, awesome desserts especially try all of them!
Great desserts obviously, several of us got salads and they stood out as being particularly good! The chicken fried steak was so-so, as were the potatoes. Do not miss out on getting a biscuit with butter, this is definitely a carb-loading experience so plan accordingly! Country decor, small town charm atmosphere, lots of knickknack shops around the restaurant.
Food is a huge disappointment! Really expected so much more from such a famous restaurant. Beware of the bakery prices, a one inch thick slice of carrot cake is $6.95!! Not worth the hype, time or money.
If you just want to eat desert, this is the place to go in the Kimswick area. If you want anything more than that, then I would suggest going elsewhere. I had the steak as did another person and it was full of fat and grissel. It was prepared well, but for the price I paid, the cut if meat we received wasn't good. The wait staff was good. The atmosphere was a little stuffy for my taste as it was a historic/colonial kind of motif.
Absolutely wonderful! Great food, friendly atmosphere, and cute decor! Be sure to order a carryout box with your meal. You're going to need it!
I hadn't been to the Blue Owl for 15+ years, and it was as excellent as I remembered. The breakfast quiche (Lorraine) was delectable and melted in my mouth, plus it came with a fresh cup of fruit. I also had a homemade biscuit on the side with their strawberry preserves. I'll definitely go back soon because I missed out on their mouth-watering desserts, which were on display in the bakery case.
Cozy atmosphere and the food in abundance. Desert is the best. So many different items to choose from. Wait staff are very efficient and friendly.
Cute little town with some damn good pies.
The Blue Owl excels in comfort food. They have found their niche. Nestled in the sleepy town of Kimswick Mo, it has become a destination restaurant to enjoy. Leave room for deserts if you can. You won't be disappointed.
It was OK, but not great. We had a large group and we were packed in next to another large group - it wasn't very comfortable. The chairs are very uncomfortable too. Chicken fried steak was really good, but the mashed potatoes were dry. The biscuit that came with the meal was very dry and didn't have a lot of flavor. Only 1 person in our group ate their entire meal. Everyone else left quite a bit on their plates.
Great food great place great company
It's a great placw
Hate to say but the reputation of this place precedes the flavor. I was looking forward to my lunch date here and regret not going to our usual haunt. Very expensive for subpart food. I had the pan seared talapia, baked potato, and took a piece of peach pie home. All old and cold (esp the pie) except the fish was light, fluffy and pretty good. I've never had a bad baked potato until today. I guess they make everything early in the morning and it sits around. Like the sides and pies etc. The staff was very polite and professional. The service was excellent. Too bad their food doesn't match the service.
Wonderful servers. Amazing pies! Bring an appetite.
Wonderful service, excellent food and heavenly desserts.
Food is not very good but the people are so sweet. If you want good food the Dough Depot a few doors down is where to go and it's so delish!
Great food,atmosphere and price.
Fantastic service and fantastic food!
Went for breakfast...so many choices. Staff always smiling and very attentive, food was great just save room for dessert. Definitely will go back.
Wonderful experience, our service was excellent from Debbie, food was delicious and deserts OMG... Mary has a fabulous business and she's as sweet as her deserts. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.
Food and service was excellent. Only issue was parking. There is a lot but it fills up quickly. Would recommend
This was my first visit to The Blue Owl despite living near by for many years. We had a large group that all selected off of the pick three menu. The food was alright, not earth shattering while also not horrible. The wait staff were all friendly, attentive, courteous, and definitely busy. The desserts were worthy of their turn on the food network. One member of the group had the "Levee high apple pie". This was the only piece left in house today and on sight alone was something of wonder. The enormous helping of pie alone will likely inspire another stop at the Kimswick landmark.
Great food and service. Nice relaxing meal with family.
The Gooey cheesecake is to die for!
Sat on the patio and had a delicious breakfast.
The food is awesome and generous amount! A little pricey, but for special occasions, it's worth it! Amazing desserts too!
Amazing food delicious dessert. Great service. An amazing experience all around.
My experience was less than pleasant. Not a busy a real busy time at 2:30pm. Seated at table for 27minutes and none of the wait staff acknowledged me being seated until I get up to leave. So needless to sat I never got to eat. And buy looking at the menu. Prices were pretty high. No I wont be visiting again. Horrible experience.
Great baked items. Sky-high pies, and lovely coconut cake.
Good food stiff on price
Great service and as always amazing food.
The salads are VERY good and services is GREAT and the DESSERT and to DIE for.
Service and food were very good on a busy weekend night.
Awesome, wish I had had time for more, and can't wait to come back!
Great service. Excellent atmosphere
Family atmosphere and exceptionally friendly staff and owners will make you feel special. Their menu looks offers many American classics. Everything we tried was great.
From the great cuisine that Blue Owl offers to the decinant bakery, it is difficult to decide where to start your meal...the bakery or the restaurant! This is the one place where you want to begin your meal with dessert first!
Always great food and atmosphere! Employees are curtious. Don't leave without dessert! If you're too full, get a take-away of any Sweet Things! You'll be Happy you did! Love and Hugs!
OMG! The atmosphere! The staff! Miss Mary! I just can't... WAIT TO COME BACK!!!
Lovely lunch trio! Several choices for salads, soups, quiches, sandwiches and fantastic desserts! I had strawberry salad, Crab n asparagus quiche, broccoli soup. All very delicious. Later Mile High Apple pie with caramel n pecans! Make reservations for large groups for shorter wait. Everything is great.
Food is so good. I have never had a bad meal there.
Very good food, delicious desserts. All very heavy though. Old fashioned atmosphere.
Amazing but out of mile high apple pie this day
The fried Chicken was awesome chicken and dumpling second to none desserts best in town
The best food i have ever had. The service was amazing, and friendly. Very clean. Can't wait to go back. The mashed potatoes were homemade and mouth watering.
Absolutely a fun place to visit. Good portions, good food. Fun experience. Recommend a reservation!
We got there at 11:15. Had to wait for a seat until 12:00. Service was really great, people are friendly. We had the deluxe BLT, a piece of quiche, and buffalo chicken sandwich. The BLT is huge. Brought some home. It was good, but nothing special. The buffalo chicken sandwich was good but pretty small. I don’t think it was worth $12. I had the coffee and was totally disappointed. They server “community” brand coffee. It tastes burnt and bitter. Even after fresh pot. It was an ok meal... I expected more with all the hype and talk about it. Probably won’t go back.
Best pie I have ever had at a restaurant! The apple pies they make are fresh and are stacked literally a foot in the air. They are massive and every bite is to die for! If you are in the area I would definitely check their hours and make an effort to go here!
The food was good we shared a slice of mile high apple pie it was close to my grandma's pie but the center of the apple slices was a little too crisp. All an all not too bad. Service was good.
It's always a treat going to the Blue Owl.
