So busy & due to servers not being there on time (Sunday 8:30am) we had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated even though there were open tables. Worth the wait as the food was very good as was the coffee & the waitress we had (I wish I could remember her name) was courteous & attentive. Bakery is awesome!!
Great food.
One of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Tremendous portions and great service with a personal touch
I was a bit nervous after reading the other reviews. The service was very prompt and courteous. The breakfast was very fast, hot, and tasted great! I would recommend if you’re looking for good home cooking.
A lot of food for relatively good prices.
YUM!!! Great service, family owned and operated, local diners. I've never been disappointed with a meal at Key's Cafe! ☮️❤️
The salmon was cooked perfectly I would not recommend getting the salmon sandwich however. Salmon between two white buns lettuce and tomato, it's just not that great. The cake I bought was tasty but way too dense and too much frosting, I got cow decorations and told them to go crazy with the cows I got three cute cows just kinda sitting on top of the cake, wish it was a little more interactive but the girlfriend loved the cows so no complaints from her except the super dense and crazy richness of the cake.
Good food and good portions
I almost choked on a bone that I found in my chicken wild rice soup. And also I don’t think their cook understands how to cook eggs. They only know how to cook them over easy. Or maybe he is just rushing. Never going back.
Ordered the Farmers Omlette. The ham in it was so delicious.. Enough for 2 meals.
This is the worst Keys experience we have ever had here in Hudson. We have been to other Keys locations in Minnesota and they have never disappointed. I ordered the loon omelette with no turkey that comes with multigrain toast and jelly. The omelette was fine but they forgot the toast and jelly. My fiance ordered biscuits and gravy and the biscuits were like rocks and the gravy was watery with some meat chunks. The waiter TraValle never came back with my toast and jelly. Finally came to our table when we were done and ready to leave and asked if we wanted a refill. Told him we were done and he forgot to bring out my toast. He offered I told him it was too late I was done. Then we went to cashier and l complained and she offered me to take my toast to go. I told her no because why would I want toast to go (it would be aweful later). Then they decided to take 60 cents off our bill for the toast. (On the bill it says Bad service -0.60). What a joke. Then we watch TraValle stand behind counter and laugh saying I only forgot to bring her toast out. How incredibly rude!!! I can not believe management let's this happen!!
Me and my friend ate there last night had a few nats circle us, I killed two. Seriously why do you have nats in the winter. The service was ok its not a fabulous place to eat.
Turkey burger and fruit plate. Banana pecan pancakes the size of manhole covers. Thick slices of home made bread. Cinnamon roles. Oh, cinnamon rolls.
I have been to two Keys now and have NOT been disappointed with the food or service yet. Staff is awesome!
Great food, large portions and a very friendly place to enjoy a great breakfast.
Excellent
Tues 9/18/18 I had the best vegetable beef soup and thick cut roast beef sandwich on soft thick wheat bread! YUM. Parking was a little tricky but worth it!
My favorite steak and eggs, best strawberry jam!!!
Excellent service, great food, pleasant family friendly atmosphere! Hidden gem!
Keys Cafe in Hudson, we came in today 12/21/18 with our son and brother, straight from the Mpls bus station, he is returning from Army basic training for the holidays. We live in Hudson and love your restaurant so of course this was the obvious place for his first non military meal. This soldier can eat!! When it came time for our bill we were told he would not be charged and he was personally thanked by management and staff for his service. It is through tears that I write this sincere appreciation for such a beautiful a and appreciated gesture! Thank you Keys Cafe and Merry Christmas to you all. A very proud Mom and sister of Pvt Zayhne OFlanagan US Army
Honestly, I love all of the Keys location. I am always comfortable and the food is just great. I love that the founding owner still visits her restaurants to make her soup weekly. She's wrapped my left-overs herself. Wonderful, homey place.
Great service and amazing food!! The wild rice soup is the best. Better than my homemade......i had to own it!
Excellent Food. Large portions. Extra Friendly Staff.
Try it all. Leave with a baked treat
I had an amazing giant blueberry pancake! So so good!
Prompt service. Excellent food. Great price. Easy access. Don't let the mini-mall location fool you into not going here. You'll be glad you went.
Great food even better service
Great Friday Fish and Carmel Apple pie
Amazing omelette breakfast! !
I ordered a Philly cheese bowl received a smushed sandwich instead which was a 1/4,of the box. So don't expect to get much. I drive back to get the bowl. Which in It runs around $10and it had even less meat and was on mashed potatoes. They did take the sandwich back and I got the bowl and she gave me a dessert and I chose a lemon bar which was still frozen. I wish I had returned tge food. I normally get a refund after a place messes up. Needless to say I didn't eat it. My coworker ate his and became sick from the food.
I have always liked Keys Cafe. I have always had good things to say about them. This last time I went they completely sucked. The service was horseshit and the food was just disgusting. I will go back again and hope that it was just bad morning for breakfast.
It was excellent as usual!
Great food and service!
They have good food. Can get crowded
Always friendly service and great food!
Very good food. Nice daily specials. Ok prices
I've been enjoying Keys since it opened in town. They have homemade foods at a reasonable price as well as a mini bakery and catering. Food is good, atmosphere is comfortable, staff are friendly, but service can be hit or miss at times. They have free WiFi and outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Overall a popular place to meet for some good food with friends or the family.
Good food, servers, and atmosphere. My only criticism is their coffee. Extremely weak and flavorless. Keys: Upgrade your coffee and I'll give that 5th star.
Delicious and smells amazing!
Not very friendly to POC, stood by counter and cash register waiting 20 mins as staff continued to walk pass me as if I was invisible...this was just to get a table to eat! Never again.
Great food and atmosphere.!
great food, good server
Your life is a but joyless mockery of true bliss and wisdom until you eat one (or more!) Keys' caramel roll, and the #2 breakfast hash with roast beef, sunny side up eggs and sourdough toast.
Food was fast and delicious. Key's is one of the best breakfasts in town.
Great omelette
Exactly what u expect
Excellent breakfast all day long. I've been eating at Barbara Hunn's Key's Restaurants for 35 years and have never been disappointed!
Classic greasy spoon. The original location too. Family run. You'll sit for a while during rush, but the down home cooking, friendly staff and cozy atmosphere is well worth it
The BEST fluffy GF pancakes. Not only are the pancakes huge, and super filling, but they taste amazing too!! (The rest of their menu is also great.) The staff is super kind and friendly!
Great comfort food, lots of choices.
The food was good, but the service was horrible. Never would go back because of the service. The waiter (guy) was eating off people's plates like their chips and when he brought out my order it was wrong, then he didn't say anything, he just brought out the right order but it took over 45 mins to take my order and the place is WAY to small. Nobody can even walk around.
Great food selections, service, and portions. You won't leave hungry!!
Homestyle with a twist. Yummy coffee, cozy atmosphere and tasty food!
This Keys (original) feels like eating with family. High quality ingredients. Great service and large portions. The Mayor was across the aisle and took photos with Keys employees. Go and enjoy!
Food was really good, dessert even better. Prices were good too
A truly historic family run cafe that serves simple but delicious American comfort food. Makes for a fantastic breakfast spot.
Good food and very friendly people. The toast is a bit large and was burnt other than that it was great!
It's pretty expensive for what it is, not bad and not great
Quesadilla was to thick would like meat chopped smaller and not so much. Bigger in not always better. Not a lot of flavor either. The rest of food was good, and great service as usual.
I was Dropping a friend off for an appointment nearby and wandered in to this place only to find a display case filled with Cupcakes and Deserts attached to a Bar Serving Twisted Bloody and Mimosas. Heaven on Earth for this Chick
The best place to get homestyle food. The food is always excellent and the service is fantastic! The baked goods are heavenly, a person has to save room for dessert.
Food like mom used to make. Turkey dinner and meatloaf are my staples. Mimosas on Sundays
We enjoyed the photos, good food and service
The food is delicious and the staff are great. Try and avoid the weekend brunch time or you will have to wait about 15 - 20 minutes for a table.
Cinnamon french toast was excellent. Spinach omelette recommended.
Omelette was good, hash browns were awful, a small portion of pre cooked shredded potatoes that were fried thus mushy. Service was OK, hard to get coffee or water refills.
Great food and good service. Custom request are honored.
Place had a very cozy aesthetic, staff was really friendly and chatty. I would highly recommend this for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Down home with great servers
Very Pleased with our waitress! Had 2 babies under 1 yr old, she brought their food right away, really thoughtful!
Biggest breakfast in town and reasonable prices
Fast, friendly service with enough space to accommodate our group of 10 easily. Menu had some great upgrades on classic dishes. Wonderful homemade bread too! Would most definitely return and recommend!
My favorite! Great place for breakfast. Really friendly.
I seen this restaurant on the internet, the food looked amazing so I decide to visit So I get there and had to sit at dirty table which I didn't trip because it was busy. The wait was long and when I finally ordered the food in which my meat was still raw and cold in the middle and my son meat was cold and raw as well. After complaining and sending the food back I lost my appetite and was ready to go. The waitress still tried to charge me for everything I then told her that I was disappointed that's when she reduce the payment and quoted me 10.00 she slide my card through I'm believing she charged only the 10.00 but when I got home I found out she took extra money off for tips I guess but she didn't tell me. To make matters worst after I left my stomach started hurting really bad to the point of almost doing the #2 on my self . All of this happened at 9:00am it's now 6:06 PM and my stomach still hurts and I have been on the toilet all day. Very disappointed with my services and food and never going back.
Good food.
Love this place... Great food, awesome service!
Cheap food great selections and it is delicious! Must try!
Amazing service! Great atmosphere and the staff is super friendly! Wish it was closer to home!
I am not sure why people have complained so much about the wait. I just had breakfast at Keys this morning. I was greeted by a very nice hostess and shortly thereafter by our waitress. The food was amazing! It only took 20 minutes and the place was packed. The eggs were like velvet and the steak was extremely flavorful and juicy. I have found my new go to breakfast place!
I love Keys Cafe! The food is always delicious and very reasonably priced. Can't complain much about what you get. I love this location because it is a little more spacious than the others!
Food is wonderful. Servers were pleasant. Not as clean as it could be. Disappointed our server( might've been manager) was wearing flip flops. Definitely not up to restaurant/kitchen code.
Excellent service. Excellent fresh prepared food! Try the Loon omelette-unusual and delicious.
Had the Cajun skillet and it tasted great and portion was huge. Excellent service. Good value.
Nice place, great food, good service, even though it was very busy.
Food is awesome
Great place, great food, great portion sizes, great service! We like all the Keys locations except the original in downtown St. Paul.
Won't go back! Not sure if it was personal but they served us on dirty plates. Then kept trying to rush us out of there but others were noticeably left alone to enjoy their meal. When I brought this to the managers attention he made several excuses before saying we'll what do you want me to do. And he didn't even comp us for the food we couldn't eat. I'll stick to the raymond location.
Service was fairly quick and it was very busy. They serve very large portions so I orders sides to account for it and the bill was very reasonable. They have a little something for everyone very yummy. The waitstaff was very pleasant.
Happy service great food large portions their price
My favorite hash browns in the Cities, served up by delightfully sassy staff.
I love the thick bacon and the big pancakes...nice place to go in the morning after drinking booze all night
Great family owned diner, good was epic. Not that chain stuff. It was all homeade with love
Excellent “Greasy Spoon.” One of my favorite home style diners in the Twin Cities area. The Belgium waffle is to die for!
Great food great service
I met friends here for brunch on Sunday and I wish we would have chosen a different spot. I order a basic bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich expecting it to be somewhat good. However, they "ran out" of homemade buns and substituted it with a dry English muffin. They also used nasty American cheese when I requested cheddar. Additionally, my friend order eggs Benedict without spinach and her plate came out late and FULL of spinach. I did not leave a tip because the service was so unbelievably bad. I am from out of town and even I can say that there are better places around than Keys!
This is the third time in a row I’ve ordered the takeout where they give me a ridiculously long wait time to pick up and by the time I arrive either it’s not made at all or only one of our plates is made and now today our orders were completely different and missing items. For the price y’all are screwing people.
Tater tots with mustered and great GF options
Great hometown happy historic place with great food. Huge portions.
Great lunch and breakfast. Sooooo homemade
I love Keys food, so three stars for flavor, but on this occasion we found the wait staff faulty....we only ordered a cinnamon roll, piece of pie, and coffee....it took 30 min to get and our coffee was never refilled. The bathroom was filthy. The older woman at checkout was confused and took 3 tries to get our tab right! The woman clearing tables was eating food off the plates. Sorry Keys...these are real problems.
Great homestyle food, great menu selection. No wait to be seated (you seat yourself), and about average wait time for food (or slightly fast). The portions are quite generous, but the food is slightly more expensive than other similar places I've been to. It seemed petty to remove a star just for that, though, when I have no other complaints. An excellent place to eat at; highly recommended.
Bacon was undercooked, American fries tasted rotten, eggs had no salt or pepper, pancakes and coffee were good. Definitely not worth the price. This place is filthy. The bottom of the bakery case was so gross. There were flies bothering me while eating, and my menu was sticky and had literal dirt on it. I've eaten at other Keys and they are so much better.
Worst egg Benedict I had in entire life. Never will go there again.
Good food, service ok!
Not like the orginal, but not bad
The usual wonderful food. Fun, cozy, enjoyed thinking about this as the start of an empire. Narrow aisles. Smacked my knee.
We have eaten at and enjoyed other Keys Cafe location but this was our first time in Hudson. The food took forever to get, the french fries tasted old (either the potato or the oil they were fried in was not fresh) which were in edible and the Poppyseed salad dressing was rancid. It was less then an excellent experience and we would not go back to this location.
Belgium waffles are the best
Food good coffee ok service slow
This is the 2nd Keys restaurant I've been to. The other located up on Larpenteur and Lexington. This Keys is smaller. I remember my daughter's fav was their Mickey Mouse Pancakes.
Food is OK. Same portions compared to Woodbury location. Both locations have not so nice staff.
Keys is one of my favorites for a big breakfast or a juicy burger. Fun small town diner feel.
Really good food and great service. Lots of parking spots available too Quiet area.
As always great food great portions great wait staff and clearly management that cares and I can emphasize the last part enough
Slow, sloppy service but good food.
Home cooking, always good. Best breakfast and it's served all day!
My 5 year old son said it looked beautiful in there
Had a good breakfast here. All homemade. Strawberry jam and maple butter good on sourdough toast.
This is our favorite breakfast and lunch spot and has been for years. Great good, friendly staff and a nice hometown feel. The desserts are fantastic, all of them, especially the carrot cake.
I wish I had better things to say since I really love the St. Paul location, however our experience here was pretty bad. We arrived at 12:50 on a weekday. At 1:40 we had still not been served our lunch order (only 3 people). So we asked for it to-go. We did not get our food until 1:50. Needless to say, we wont be back.
Disappointing. Service was incredibly slow and food was mediocre and expensive. Definitely won’t be back here.
Lovely old time feeling. Great service and delicious food
Service and food were excellent. I recommend this place to everyone.
Good old greasy spoon. Big orders for a decent price.
Always a reliable breakfast and lunch spot.
Awesome hot meatloaf sandwich. Very friendly service. My only issues are their prices are quite high and I was surprised that they served the rhubarb pie in the condition it was in, both in taste with burnt crust and how it looked.
Always happy with everything at Keys!! The service is outstanding. More importantly, the food is delicious. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Best of all then portions are huge, especially the pancakes! Bring your appetite!
Love this place, always great food & service! Also great pie!
Food is always amazing at keys cafe. Most recent trip, I had the cajun skillet. Generous amounts of spicy sausage and sauce and the egg keeps the hashbrowns from getting too soggybfrom the sauce. Wife had the cinnamon french toast. She was impressed that they used cinnamon bread instead of regular bread with a little cinnamon on it. Service was also excellent.
I love their breakfast menu, their specialty pancakes are delicious. I've never really been there for dinner but I would definitely still be ordering breakfast food. They also have really good pies, people seem to forget that Key's is also a bakery.
Great Food Busy because food is Great but it's too small kinda cluttered
Best food in town. Worth the wait. It's packed to the gills most times but who cares? Makes tummy happy!
Incredibly good and unique food
We eat here once or twice a month. It's usually very good but the service can be a little slow. Today it was very slow and the food we waited so long for was cold. The restaurant wasn't busy at all so no excuse for that. I had the special, beef tips over noodles. It was awful, too salty and looked and tasted like something that came out of a can. The waitress was very nice about it and took it off the bill. I like Key's and we will be back. I just hope they will work on the service end of their business. We've been there many times and this is the first time I wasn't happy with the food, it's usually great.
Very busy, but for good reason! Great food!
An exquisite eatery for breakfast and comfort foods. Makes it easy to indulge in my favorite dishes. Great service, always a winner.
Very favorite place for a hearty breakfast. Everything a small diner should be, and gluten free options, too!
No frills breakfast spot. Classic breakfast options made fresh and served quickly from a very friendly staff.
Food was good, but service was slow and lacking friendliness.
I love
waited over an hour for our food and everyone's food was cool. didn't dare send back as we didn't have another hour to spare.
dont be dismayed by the line at the door. they have a weird seating policy that almost always makes things appear worse than they are. great food, good variety, and reasonable prices. we (4 ppl) each ate something different and were all happy with our choices. staff are friendly, and it's a very cozy experience overall.
Friendly home like enviroment and delicious home cooked food.
We have been here at least 5 times. We have had 2 semi enjoyable experiences and 3 where I asked myself why do we keep coming back..... The food takes way too long to come out. We had one waitress who was so rude we almost just left. The lunch food is lackluster and disappointing for the most part. There is another location in Woodbury which I've had better luck with, but the Hudson location has been anything but consistent.
It's a diner. It's a reasonably good diner. it's not an AWESOME diner, but it's a reasonably good one. It's a step up from Perkins or Denny's. It's a bit pricey for breakfast, but not insanely so.
Always happy with the food and great service!
Chorizo scramble. Outstanding as always.
Great inexpensive breakfast diner. Friendly staff, fast service, good portions.
The food their is good and service was good.
Great food! Great atmosphere! Great staff!
Great food and great service. Tasty treats too!
Had an excellent breakfast from an attentive staff. Had breakfast #1 with eggs over medium, hash browns, bacon and toast. It was huge and delicious.
Love this place
The service was great this morning. Very attentive and cheerful. Also, waitress was able to split our bill the way we needed it. Great Job! Wish I had gotten your name or paid attention to it.
Great food.done right
Stopped by with a friend to get some baked goods (cookies and cupcakes). I was very impressed with the selection and quality of what we got. The employee who helped us was very friendly and professional. I highly recommend.
Excellent place to eat great food, great service, just a nice afternoon crowd in there. Great atmosphere. I highly recommend eating there. PS, stay away from the cookie and cake display as it it's too tempting and you could gain some massive weight.
Busy, mousey but great breakfast foods. Don't miss the Strawberry Preserves!
Hit and miss. We have been here several times and have had issues with them closing an hour early because they were slow even though they had four sets of customers pull in while we were being turned away (we don't go there after 7pm anymore). Usually the food is pretty good (Love the loon omelette) but service and time are very inconsistent.
Food and service is always great!
As always, great food and great service. Staff and server are extremely friendly and helpful. Parking lot can be a shitshow but it is what it is.
Always delicious! And great service, too!
Great service, inexpensive meals with large portions- call in for take out is a plus for me and the service keeps you coming back
Good food, good service. We say in s nice patio outside on a beautiful day.
Super great food. And the waitress was so nice.
Great food good service
Awesome little hole in the wall place. Drove by it many o' times before going in. Had the biggest omlet I've ever seen called the everything omlet! Quite delicious!
Really enjoyed the time spent in Keys Cafe & Bakery! Loved the Cobb salad, staff and cleanliness of Keys. Will be back for sure
Amazing food, fast, friendly service-even when they're swamped.
Slow service, but friendly. Good food except the orange juice. Good gluten free options.
We shared the the loon omelette which was huge and so good if you like to try something outside of a traditional omelette. Honestly it falls in my top two favorite omelettes of all time. Also we ordered one of the special pancakes, which was a chocolate and banana. It was extremely tasty and huge. Great for sharing.
I order from Kia’s Café all the time. I love the old style cooking. Everything is made from scratch. And the pancakes and syrup is out of this world. Try to Jelly ,it’s homemade
Not the best
Service is fast food was delicious as usual
I've been to multiple Keys locations and this one was by far the worst. Incredibly rundown interior, cramped and uncomfortable seating, and a salty-middle-aged-management "we don't care about your complaints deary" sign in the window that should've tipped me off to impending trouble. Waitress was both clueless (I asked for a recommendation and received only a blank stare in return) and unprofessional (saw her eating and drinking in the kitchen before serving customers). BLT was dry and mayoless—who even makes a BLT without mayo, seriously—and I was charged $3.50 for a quarter cup of cranberry juice concentrate that was never refilled. While waiting for my ride home, a ROACH skittered across the floor... and where there's one, you know there's more. I confronted the manager about it but was immediately met with a slew of excuses, that the building was old, that they contract their cleaning services out so it couldn't be helped, etc. I suspect most of their business originates from hokey locals who come for the comfort and the conversation rather than the subpar food. Go to the Keys on Robert for the authentic experience; this place is a joke.
I have always liked Keys and am happy to find them in more new locations. I prefer their breakfasts but have had good soups there too.
This is a regular spot for my wife and I to go out for breakfast. I love their caramel rolls and their biscuits and gravy.
My server, Sorei, was an absolute delight. Get the #1.
Very busy usually, but staff handles it well in my experience. Food is always great.
A wonderful breakfast spot. The service was top notch and the food was delicious.
Very good food and portions! Had the corned beef hash and amazing pumpernickel with eggs. Took a box home! Less a star because staff was a lttle overwhelmed it was so busy. Check you times you plan on going....
Excellent breakfast and pastry
I think it was a little pricey, but burger was pretty good.
Food was ok, price was ridiculous. I was charged $11 for my sausage & cheese omelette instead of $8.35 because I asked to add onion. In addition, asked for no toast so I thought it would be reasonable to "even" out the cost. Nope... As soon as you add, it ends up being a build your own, which if I would have known, I would have added the other 2 or 3 ingredients for that price! Left feeling quite disgusted.
The service is always good along with the food. I went in alone to eat and the waitress kept me company.
If you need that home cooking taste and feeling of comfort food, this is the place to visit. The staff has always been very friendly, and this place is always very clean and cozy. Makes me feel like I'm a kid again and grandma is in the kitchen making me a plate of numminess....
Great breakfast. Large portions
Best pancakes
Went for lunch, Waiter was poor, the food was not flavorful, had a piece of cake that was so salty couldn't eat it. I ve eaten breakfast here several times before and it was fine.
Food was excellent, generous portions, and the service was on point!
Quaint place with excellent food and service. It is a little squished for space but they are maximizing what they can in this old style building.
The cook or waitress could get the order our table correctly, then under cooked on the 2nd try. Which killed the appetite on the spot. We had to paid for the ice tea we started, there was no comp offered for the inconveniences. I'm sure it'll be a long while before we will be back.
Gluten free options!
If Google had half stars I would rate this restaurant 4.5. +Fast Service +Great Breakfast Food +Good Prices +Friendly Staff +Gravy is Bomb +French Toast was Amaze Ballz -It can be crowded inside -Bathroom tiny/old Overall I would recommend this place to anyone and we look forward to our return.
Not good. Toast was burnt. Eggs were runny. French Toast had hard crust. Asked for sausage links and got a patty. Potatoes were good as was the coffee. Barb taught them better than this. $25.00 for a disappointing meal. That's an expensive breakfast!
I don't get here too often because I live 4 hours away. I got burned again ordering and paying extra for their sour dough bread. If you truly love sour dough bread do not order it. It is basicly white bread. Portion and thickness wonderful but is NOT sour dough. Everything else my group had was very good and service was good as well.
Great food! Great service!
Great experience eating here. Always enjoy a visit to Keys when on vacation. No one leaves hungry.
I forgot just how good Key's breakfasts are! You'd better be hungry when you go!
I had the best Monte Cristo sandwich I've ever tasted here. The staff were wonderfully chatty at the dining bar, as well as one of the local customers. Great food and awesome chit chat. Exactly what I was looking for today
Cinnamon rolls we or if this world, it's been 2 years since I've been there and still remember it!!
I had a mushroom and Swiss Burger I was delicious nice little cafe
Excellent food and great service!
Great food, very relaxed environment. Would recomend for anyone. Good family environment and has a study area.
Great staff and food. And you can bring your own coffee.
Great fresh food coupled with hot coffee and friendly service. Thats what we pay for. Good place.
Consistently wonderful. Period.
Great breakfast, good price and service
Good dinner food at reasonable prices. The hash is a favorite, but they make a great burger as well with a buttered toasted bun
Love Keys. I'm from St Paul originally and now live elsewhere. I try to eat here or in falcon heights every time I'm in town. Spinach omelette is great, as is just about any other omelette. French toast very good. Good coffee, not too thick or bit. Yum!
Food excellent. Service excellent. Woodbury location tables are very close and prices are high
Atmosphere was nice, ordered over easy eggs and they were cooked hard. Waitress never came back to check so we both ate them as is! Coffee was very good.
This is the 2nd Keys I’ve taken to patronizing in the metro area. The one downtown is so great. I eat there with co-workers every March and it’s consistently great. The St Paul location looks very different but the food and attitude is the same. Very much like what you cook at home. The places and people both have character. And they’re always full. Great place to eat
Always good food and service.
This place is so good. I mean, really good. Their fresh cakes, homemade soups and bread. Their coffee and giant fluffy pancakes! Please keep more of your delicious vegetarian soups like your butternut squash soup in stock. They are to die for!
Been there several times, always great food and service!
Exceptional staff, the food is not bad, i would not recommend it for big groups because of tight spaces, but over all, it is good.
A must try! This is one of my favorite places for breakfast. The hash is amazing & do yourself a favor & share a carmal roll with someone. Best ever!
Very nice
Food is always on point and I love all the waitress's..
Excellent food and service!
They seated us knowing that they were running behind 40 mins. They said they were sorry for the wait and gave us some "day olds " pastries for the inconvenience. We had to take the food to go so we could get back to work ! Seriously poorly managed .
Great place for breakfast lunch or dinner! Cinnamon rolls are giant ! So delicious!!! Great service, polite and timely. Deffinatly will go back!
In the many years that I have been eating at Keys Cafe no one in my opinion has been able to match the amount or quality of food that they serve.
Horrible horrible service! I've been in the restaurant business for years and I understand it gets busy. The host brought our coffee, he was great! Our waitress on the other hand took more than 15 minutes to greet us and we had to ask another waitress for coffee refills. It was another 40 minutes for a burger and 45 minutes for a grilled turkey sandwich. There were several employees, including the manager standing around jibber jabbing, drinking soda and NOT working. Q1: why didn't someone else take our table if the waitress was too busy? Q2: why didn't this waitress check in, apologize and let us know it would take longer. She did pay for our lunch but a good manager would be aware of what is going on and would have tried to make the customer happy. ...I think they all need training in being a team player. ...
Must stop for home cooked food. The open face turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes, dressing and gravy is to die for. Add a chocolate shake and you'll be in a food coma bliss.
The only downside to this place is that it is always packed. Service is great, food is delicious. I had the misfortune of overhearing one of the cooks being racist towards Mexicans one time but everyone else there has been very polite and welcoming. It is a very cozy place that makes you feel comfortable.
Still best breakfast in town and the rolls are huge
Awesome, as always. I sit at the counter, work the N.Y. Times crossword and enjoy strong coffee and a great breakfast.
Old school with monster omelets and anytjing else your heart desires. Nice peeps. Easygoing vibe.
Great place, big portions, friendly staff! Typical American diner, very cozy :)
Nobody can deny that this place is known for great food and sweet, motherly waitresses. Biscuits and gravy is to die for too. I gotta say though- every time I come here there’s more than a few annoying ass flies that try and land on you and your food. That said- that won’t keep me Between me and the classic Keys Cafe experience.
So very delicious! Busy for Saturday, waitress was fast, very nice
Very busy, but good service and food came fast. They accommodated our big group. Delicious!
Food is tasty but the omelets are not portioned well...the filling should fill. Homemade jelly...best! $2 for gluten free toast is to high.
Good food. Usually friendly staff. Nice bakery. A little pricey.
Always good food!
Ordered soup, it was cold and when I asked them to warm it up they said they would just bring me a fresh bowl. But all they did was microwave it some and it was still just warm not hot.
gauze in my food!!!! unfortunately when you find gauze, yes gauze in your food it is hard to give a review higher than 1 star. the disgust I have with this place can never be corrected with any explanation they provide. the place needs to be inspected and regulated, period. the location is too old and dirty. I love the cuteness and neighborhood feel but the place can't keep up with what's required to be safe and clean. byebye keys... never again
Great for all food but the breakfast are amazing!!!!!
Meatloaf was plain however the service were great.
An underwhelming breakfast. Better breakfasts out there. Would not go back.
Very good food, busy place but worth the wait!
Keys makes awesome food and has a very courteous staff.
Great omelets and Italian sausage!
Every coffee is made with love and dedication. Staff is always a pleasure. Their baked goods are always a warm and great experience.
Closed at 3 pm Sunday!!!?????? That's when I want to order!
The best for breakfast
Cute small restaurant. Gets crowded quickly and there will probably be a wait, but the food was incredible and well worth it! Everything was also reasonably priced.
So good!! The service was excellent, the environment is great, clean & inviting. I ordered the cinnamon french toast & it was stellar! I highly recommend, because the food is simply better. I'd take this over Perkins or Denny's any day. Also the kids menu is phenomenal! Usually kids menus have the same ole chicken strips and corn dogs but here, kiddos got way more of a variety and that makes it even more great. 10/10
Don't go there if they are even a little bit busy. Keys serves great food, nice proportions. But the one in Hudson is seriously understaffed. With no plan on how to deal with the issue. Walked out today for the last time. I asked a waitress if we could get some service and she said" I have to check ". So if the parking spaces near the door are full just pass them by. That way you won't be disappointed.
Normally the eclectic surroundings, mom n pop feel, great service, and outstanding food does well in past visits. And never had a problem at the Larpenteur/Lexington location. However it must be new staff that made this a not so good trip with my family to this neighborhood spot. We seated ourselves as the sign stated and others were doing, waited over 15 minutes before I said hi to a passing server who circled back after a few minutes and asked "have you been helped?" We replied "no" and she said "hold on" and walked away. Handful of minutes later a different server came over to start us off. We ordered drinks and food. Drinks were supplied soon, but the food took over 30 minutes for breakfast and only the adults food. We waited another 10 minutes till our kids food arrived. Waffle was cold and the fix was apparently to put it back in the iron to crisp the outside and vaguely heat it. Eggs were either over cooked or extremely runny from what was ordered. Hash browns were burnt, and not just dark brown, black, oil, old grease, sitting in a corner of the grill burnt. We told our server and they shrugged and said "sorry about that." And dropped a bill a few minutes later. No more water refills, no anything else, no leftover containers for the edible remains. No mention of remaking them, discount on the bill, or a manager stopping by. Be a while till we give a try again.
Large portions. Definitely get your money's worth. Friendly service as well.
Every time we go they are very busy, but it's easy to see why, because the food is great! They have a charming atmosphere and good service. We are repeat customers, because we like to try something new each time! Their breakfast is a special favorite.
Breakfast doesn't get any better! And a huge menu that will not disappoint any time of day. This is the original Keys restaurant. Thank you Barbara for the years of great food and friendly staff!
Not a really good deal for what you pay for. Overpriced breakfast, but it is solid every time. I would give them 4 stars, but it's really just a bit too pricey for what you pay for.
Picked up my food today. Food is cold. The "sausage and bacon" are ice cold and ripped apart. 2nd time I've ordered online and had garbage food waiting for me. They said 30 min edit. I showed up easily around that time
Was not as good as the Fridley location. Waitress must have been having a bad day. And the food was not prepared the same way. One pancake was burned and the other was under cooked. Ant the cinnamon French toast was different bread.
How this place gets a 4 star average baffles me. It's mediocre, and expensive. Sourdough bread was extra, and it was flavorless. Closest place for good breakfast is Not Justa Cafe in Bayport and then Oasis in Stillwater. Same price as Keys, but you actually get what you pay for there (good food good portion)
Good comfort food. Good service.
Great food and service every time we go there
Keys is honestly my favorite breakfast place, and any time that I am in town in the morning I always try to stop here. I have yet to have a single item that I have ordered on the menu that I haven't enjoyed. It's really hard to find good breakfast, but Keys does a good job and at a reasonable price!
Always a good meal At a fair price!
Awesome food
Overpriced, breakfast is okay (not amazing). I'm not sure why people love this place; I guess if you grew up in Saint Paul it's a landmark, but it's really just a regular diner with prices on steroids. If you want a diner experience, try Mickey's (downtown) or Roman's (columbia heights) and have the same breakfast for 35% less — made better at either place. Or, if you want to stay in the same area, Colossal Cafe on Como is one of the best brunch spots in town. Food at Key's is standard diner fare, nothing to complain about. Service is alright. I really only go if I need an easy option in walking distance.
Great breakfast and lunch. Can be very busy at times but worth the wait. Does close early.
Favorite breakfast spot.
This is the place for breakfast for those liking a hearty and healthy one. Their pancakes are heaven and if you're more of an omelette person, you'll be more than happy to have tried it out. Dinners are really good too and my best recommendation is the Wild Turkey Rice soup. It's like a meal unto itself along with their killer meatloaf.
Delicious breakfast, good service n nice portions
Good service. Horrible coffee. Food was lacking flavor and was served lukewarm. Prices were in-line with portion size.
The "Rachel" is so good! Great service, quick staff. Not too busy at early lunchtime, was able to find a table and work uninterrupted while waiting on my food!
Great food. Longer wait because it was so busy, but they gave a complementary roll while we waited. Great staff and great food.
Best food! Best staff! Love this place!
Good food., fun place
The service is second to none. The wait staff is so kind and attentive (granted it wasn't too busy on a Thursday morning). Truly love their oatmeal. It's big and thick and sticks to your ribs. If you want something simple and home made, this is the place to come.
Great food, the peak waiting time was long tho, so dont take too much time deciding. The Ranch plate is awesome choice.
Service was not good. Young man working behind the counter was not welcoming and cold. The place is nice.
This place was amazing
Stopped here for a quick breakfast. Hostess and waitress were very friendly. Waitress wasnt pushy and she was very responsive. Looking at the menu there were some things I thought were a great deal and others where I thought it was veryoverpriced. I got french toast and it was perfect, light cinnamon flavor, crispy crust and soft inside. Not sure what butter they use but oh my gosh deliciousssss. I grabbed one of their gf cookies to go, toffee flavor. Yum. Hostess gave me a recommendation for next time.
The Woodbury Branch has a clean environment atmosphere and Saint Paul is an old style cafe feel. Both locations are very good.
Great breakfast spot.
Super long waits without waiting area. Food not great for prices. Only one stall in bathrooms so you wait long for that and have to wait for your bill then wait in line to pay. Needs a better design.
Amazing old-school food
Amazing coffee just amazing!!
Nice quiet diner to eat breakfast. Some of there breakfast plates could be better. We will visit time to time.
Really good food
Raymond Avenue. Location: Terrible, terrible experience. I have been a good customer for many years, but never again. The wait staff are rude and condescending. It took us 20 minutes to get our check. After we waved down a waiter, he yelled he was not our server. The cooks were cursing each other out and threatening each other in front of the customers during the first 15 minutes of our meal. On top of all this, the food is getting increasingly less than mediocre. I used to like this place but last Sunday afternoon was the last time I will ever go back. Worse dining experience ever! There are so many better options nearby that I will be exercize the future.
Food is good. But when we checked out,the waitress ask if I wanted to leave a tip, and said no it was on the table. Then she asked me if I wanted a receipt, l said no. So when i was doing bills tonight I noticed she added the tip in anyway. I noticed this on my bank statement. The check $36.80 , she charges $40.80 plus we left $5.00 on the table. $9.00 tip. I will be going back tomorrow to get my $4.00 back. Or I will be talking to barb hunn. Seeing l have been going to keys for 36 year's. Not good.
Our first time here. Service was friendly and the food was very good.
Friendly, homey, family-owned, hand made
Huge pancakes, best in the area. Great bakery. Service at this restaurant is outstanding. My favorite entre is hot turkey sandwich. The best I have ever had. Better than mom's. Any restaurant in the chain is worthy of checking out.
Retro old school diner feel, great breakfasts!
We would only go here for eggs beny but they changed the sauce never coming back ....the French toast changed too didn't taste like it use to
I went to Keys Cafe with a couple of co-workers for lunch. The food is amazing and is a great value. It's a really cozy fun environment, and I highly recommend it! I think this would be a fun place to bring my wife and young kids for fancy breakfast.
Monte Cristo was terrible. Service was mediocre.
Makes me feel like I have taken a trip into the past to the family restaurants of my youth. Real wholesome food.
This is probably one of the Original Keys... I had breakfast, and proved to be a very good place for breakfast! The prices are good the portions are huge. The atmosphere is rustic... Love It! Kind of reminds me of old time Mom an Pop places. You might wanna arrive early, seating is limited and it kind of felt like one would have to wait a bit to get seated. But if I remember correctly it is a seat yourself type of place. I cannot complain, the food was good but I have had better at other Mom and Pops, do not take me wrong the food is good but not really something to write home about. I think these chains are known for their hot sandwiches, and they are definitely awesome. But the breakfast does leaves something to be desired. Will eat there again in a heartbeat!
Great diner food. Get there early for caramel rolls. A ST Paul institution.
This is a great breakfast/lunch cafe. The decor is fun and the food is tasty.
Qwell, the service was top notch, the food absolutely delicious and the courtesy of the staff and management bar none.
Usually I'm pretty generous with my ratings and I love Key's but we just had an incredibly bad meal with incredibly bad service. The rudeness started right away when we asked for a recommendation between two options on the menu and the waitress yelled at us. Cold cinnamon roll with chewy cinnamon- like we were late to a buffet and got the leftovers at the bottom of the pan that was baked on with a Sterno, cold bread/toast with congealing butter, French toast that had a crust of onions, plates thrown down on our table, very abrupt, clipped questions from our server, had to ask several times for parts of our order, hashbrowns that were crunchy on the outside and cold on the inside. They kept talking about how busy they were...but we've been there with lines out the door and gotten much better service and food...and they actually had empty spots in the restaurant this time around so that excuse doesn't fly.
Not all it was cracked up to be I ordered a monte crisco sandwich it was just French toast with meat and cheese. I could have done better at home
This is such a nice place to eat. The food is all homemade and I've never had anything short of delicious there. Keys is on the top of my list to recommend to other people. Will definitely come again soon.
Great food and even better service. Highly recommend for breakfast or lunch. Ordered the cinnamon French toast with eggs and a side of fruit which was really good. Great omelettes too
EVERYTHING is homemade and delicious. 2 egg omelets are huge. Pancakes are the size of a manhole cover. GO HUNGRY
Enjoyable atmosphere for a family breakfast.
Always awesome food and service!
Finally broke my Key's Cafe & Bakery cherry today and wow they have some good breakfast! I will definitely come back.
Good food and service. A little pricey for breakfast but still worth a visit.
A Minnesota and (now) Wisconsin staple. It's one of the best breakfasts around. I love this place.
Keys cafe and bakery was recommended by a local and that recommendation could not have been better. Keys cinnamon rolls are huge! They are made fresh daily so when they are out, they are out. They also have caramel rolls too. They have a wide variety of breakfast items but they also have burgers, salads and dinner options. Desserts include fruit pie, carrot cake or chocolate cake, cookies and even a root beer float. It was moderately busy for a weekday morning but service was promt and friendly. The coffee was fresh and hot. The portions are large which makes it perfect for sharing. The homemade jelly was delicious too.
Delicious, fabulous service!!! Clean and healthy size portions. Highly recommended!!
So delicious! We make sure to get breakfast here everytime we are in the area.
Keys is the greasy spoon original and pinnacle. Breakfast is a masterwork and the pancakes are always fluffy. Do not check your triglycerides and lean into a love of butter.
Good food and excellent service. Short staffed this day so wait times were longer than usual.
