Top notch breakfast. Great service. So many great things to say about this place. It has kind of become a tradition to come here every Saturday for breakfast. I normally eat pancakes which are the best pancakes I’ve ever had. The only problem is it can be pretty crowded at time. In this scenario you might have to wait upwards of half an hour but not to worry, there is a seating area of benches right as you walk in the door.

The black bean Taco salad is horrible. Chips were old, cold and had a odd flavor. The black bean puck was flavorless. Some weird dressing did not compliment the salad. I was not able to convey this to my server since she did not bother to ask. However my dining companions thought the breakfast and turkey dinner were excellent. Server had a off energy. I thought we were bothering her by having her come back when everybody was at the table. Servings are large so we took half of out entrees home. I heard the deserts are excellent. We wanted desert but our server thought we had enough to eat, brought our check without asking if we wanted desert. There are other places to eat so probably will not come back.

Not sure if it's a management issue or something else but the food quality and service at the forest lake location just doesn't compare to the White Bear or Hudson locations. This is the third time in a row that the restaurant has been half full and we've waited over 50 minutes for food and have had to ask the person at the bakery counter to get our waitress to fill our drinks. Absolute disappointment..... Again

Anytime I'm in town, I've got to stop at Key's for breakfast! They've got great diner-style food, huge portions, and awesome staff. You've GOT to try their homemade jam - it's absolutely epic! It's hard for me to get anything but omelettes because they're so big and satisfying. The everything omelette (don't remember if that's the real name, but it's got essentially everything in it) is a beast. Come with an appetite!

If you get any hashbrowns get the aged white cheddar melted on top. Additionally, I always get the build your own omelette and get the aged white cheddar inside with chili and it's legit. If I'm feeling frisky I get a deschutes porter in a frosty mug.

Keys has an incredible menu. The food is really "Minnesotan" but improved in all ways. I personally am a big fan of breakfast foods, and they've got a great breakfast menu. Their soup is usually home made, and perfect. Attached to it is a bakery with incredible treats and coffee. They have a lot of great gluten free options as well, if that's something you need to know. Their gluten free food tastes just as good as everything else. Their kids menu is really cute especially the Mickey pancakes.

Went there for a business breakfast meeting. Our server was prompt and courteous and didn't try to flip the table even though we were there after the typical "breakfast rush" and I appreciated that. She refilled our beverages and quietly cleared our plates while we had our meeting. I usually visit the St. Paul location, so I will have to do a better job at remembering the Foest Lake location has just as fabulous food!

Again, if you're in a hurry this is not the place for you on Sunday morning. The Loon omelette is a beautiful craft of Minnesota culinary creations! YUM! The American fries were even crazy flavorful and cooked perfectly. I was skeptical at first as it looks like many other diner/cafe spaces but the food is GREAT! I had a bite of my partner's French toast and it was probably the best I've ever tasted. So good!

We went for lunch here and it was fine. I got the meatloaf sandwich which was ok. Hubs got the tuna melt which was better. We soon came to realize that breakfast is really the main show and we will return here sometime for that because all the pancakes and various breakfast items looked fab when we saw other people getting them.

My wife and I decided to go there for the 1st time this past Saturday to have breakfast and pick up a half sheet cake. My omelet was not very good, my hash browns where very dry. My wife didn't like her eggs and her hash browns were dry. We paid for our meal and went to pay our bill and pay for our cake. The gal checking us out didn't charge for the cake so I said that you forgot the cake. After 10 minutes they finally figured out what to charge me,( 68 bucks) almost fell over. We took the cake home and later that day we finally cut the cake and every single person had commented how dry the cake was. Some said the edge was very hard. The restaurant is very over rated. We will never go back.

Love this place! Our go to place at the end of along day thrifting with my friend. Great menu. The salad with hot bacon dressing is so good. Yes, hot bacon dressing !!!! All of their food and soups are made daily onsite from scratch. Delicious. Super friendly staff. Plenty of comfortable seating for the whole family. The best lemon cookies I have ever had. Plenty of parking, very limited handicap parking, but restaurant is easily accessed. Go!!!!!

So disappointing. Hubby has now crossed them off as a go to. Italian hash was so, so bland. Shortage on peppers, tomatoes and sausage. Was his absolute favorite for years. Not anymore. The muffin for my eggs benedict was so hard you could only eat the absolute middle. Bummer all around

Just finished ordering two turkey dinners at the Forest lake keys on the way home from Duluth. The waitress was abrupt and the food was terrible. Turkey was dry, old, potatoes were instant and the dressing tasted like it could be dog food. I even choked on the dry peanut butter cookie. Worst Keys I have ever been to and won’t be back. Not once was I asked how the meal was.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Came in this evening for a quick bite to eat and some coffee. We were seated and were served coffee but we ended up walking out. There were two servers and they both looked at us but neither one took our order. We drank our coffee and left. The hostess was surprised that we were never served. She also charged us for the coffee which we should not have paid for. Lousy service!

I love Keys Cafe but not the Forest Lake location. The one in Hudson is a night-and-day experience compared to Forest Lake. Just had dinner with my family and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant but yet we still waited a long time for our food. When the food came out it was not nearly as good as the Hudson location and waitress was hard to get a hold of when we needed refills on drinks. Overall a disappointing experience so I will continue to go to the Hudson location where they treat you like royalty and the food is much tastier.

Cookies are really good, We needed to get something to share at a Christmas get together and bought 2 dozen assorted cookies. They were all good but the lemon cookies were by far the favorite. These cookies are huge and we cut them into quarters before serving. If you are looking for good cookies for yourself or for an occasion you will find these hard to beat.

Was greeted and seated right away. Was promptly ignored by any service staff for 10 minutes and when the people next to us-who were just seated were served beverages, we decided to leave and walk over to Jimmy John's to eat instead. They have better service!

You've got to love Keys! We went for brunch, and as always, it was great. My only complaint is that they do not offer senior meals on weekends, and don't allow seniors to order child sized portions. While most of us at the table appreciated the ginormous portion sizes, we had one senior in the group who really wanted a smaller plate.

We absolutely loved Key's Cafe. The food was delicious and comforting and the service was warm and welcoming. We tried the meatloaf, turkey dinner, and wild rice salad and loved every bite. It seems like they want to be fancy, but they don't do a very good job of it. The server was really nice, but the cashier seemed kinda snooty. I had the steak and eggs. The steak was bigger than expected and it was pretty good. The eggs and hashbrowns we're really good. They served what appeared to be homemade raspberry jam with the toast that was really good too. I would definitely go back for breakfast if I was in the area.

You generally know what you're getting at a Key's Cafe, and this one is no exception. The all-day breakfast is great. The fresh jam is a nice touch. They know how to make hash browns--crispy on top and a little greasy below. The restaurant is clean and well-kept. The staff is always friendly and prompt. Having tried a number of their bakery items, I've found this to be their own short-coming. The muffins, cookies, etc. are all too soft and doughy for my tastes. But the food is some of the best around.

Every one of the Twin Citie's Key's Cafe's live up to the local hype. Maybe a bit high priced for comfort food but the portions are huge, and oh, what a comfort! Terrific home-cooking from family-run kitchens. Don't forget to pick up one of their signature desserts next time you are invited to a small dinner party and you just don't know what to bring. Call ahead and reserve a whole cake or pie. Go from zero to hero.

Showed up at about 1100 on Thursday Nov 1st- could be breakfast or lunch. Was seated by the hostess in a booth. Took a very long time for the waitress to acknowledge us. Didn’t seem overly busy in there. We ordered lunch items upon asking our waitress what flavor soup they had - she was rude and stated don’t know- Turkey noodle soup or something like that as a guess and didn’t offer to find out. Seemed uninterested and almost kind of miserable. We did not bring it up again to her due her negative response. The food was overall decent but the service not very good.

Have been seated in the back area on several occasions, even when there are plenty of tables/booths in the main room. Small tables, very boring, akward vibe and lacks buzz back there. Disappointing because the food is pretty good.

The best breakfast in Washington county. I always come for the fantastic omelets. They have great proportions for everything. They have amazing waffles aswell and the cinnamon french toast is to die for. Theres usually a wait but the waitresses are all very nice and deliver fast service.

The food is fine just way overpriced for what you get. Also drives me nuts they have no omelettes with pancakes as an option so for breakfast I would definitely take Perkins over Keys. They do have a good variety for there lunch menus but again for the price you can pretty much go to any nice restaurant. Clean and readily available seating even during lunch hour. Dine in or take out. They have a drive through window. Staff is friendly and on top of things. Food was good and portions are generous. A popular place for locals as well as travelers.

Wanna start by saying that I am a big Key's fan... they have branches throughout the city. As far as this one goes I have been disappointed more than I care to mention. It's just the level of execution of thier recipees, could be carelessness or lack of perfection that I have come to expect from this chain. Don't take me wrong staff is ok. And besides a few times here and there, they have been very satisfactory. The food itself is a mix bag of surprises... A "hit or miss" as one would put it, For instance, three beef dinner plates one had mostly all fat, the other about quarter the amount meat and the third was perfect... Ordered clam chowder one day it is super good, next day it's runny and cold. So, I am at a lost... and being the most convenient Key's for me; I avoid going there unless convenience overcomes hesitation.

4/6/19.....took family for a breakfast/lunch & birthday for 12 of us. Called 6 days in advance to request table in backroom for 12 and a high chair. Hostess answering phone was very accommodating and set it up for 11:00am on Saturday the 6th for the backroom area for us. I also ordered a birthday cake for after our meal. We arrived and I checked in and was asked if the whole party was there. (10:50) I said not yet, shortly the rest arrived and I let the hostess know and she said it would be a bit and they would set our table up. One HOUR later we were waiting to get seating . The hostess informed me then that they DO NOT take reservations. She would have to find out who took my call and correct this. They had been seating customers in the back and we had to wait until they were done. Our bill was over 160.00 including tip. Our waitress was great and the food was quickly served and good.
