Stranded in A2 for a couple hours while my car was getting worked on, I found this place when looking for a spot to eat and charge my phone. I was very happy to find Tmaz to be an authentic taqueria. Multiple protein options, tortas, and my first pupusa! My guy behind the counter was very helpful in helping me navigate the impressive selections. My el pastor taco was delicious and simple. The frijol y queso pupusa was perfect and the tomato sauce that came with it was gorgeous. The gentleman who ran me up (the owner?) was very polite and, I can't stress this enough, a total rock star for letting me use his outlet to charge my dying phone. I had half a mind to order more food and hang out but the garage called to say I was all set. I will be back.

The BEST tamales! Authentic Mexican food in a diner like setting - but you need to try their baked goods and (my personal favorite) milk cake. Everything I've had is excellent, staff is helpful and it has never been a disappointment. Highly recommended.

I was so confused when I walked into this place , it looked purely like a take out place at first. Then I finally explored into the next room and saw the long line of ppl and the seating area and figured it out. Food was authentic and fresh and I can't wait to go back and keep trying new stuff. My husband enjoyed his enchilada so much, he said he thinks it's the best he's ever had. My only complaint is for the price, I would appreciate a nicer environment, just maybe at least fix the satellite TV haha it skipped so bad through the movie it was hilarious trying to guess what was going on

Great place for a quick authentic Mexican meal. I had a vareity of their tacos and liked all of them - especially the pastor and chipotle chicken! The cleanliness leaves something to be desired but that's not what this place is about. It's a quintessential (huge) hole-in-the-wall that serves excellent Mexican fare. I moved here from Texas and my cravings for tacos was definitely sated here. Did I mention this place is also inexpensive?

Amazing Taco Joint. They also have really good Pupusas. Atmosphere is great. Restaurant set up is a little funny but the flavors are so good the staff is very friendly. Decent size lines form for lunch but they churn through it pretty well. If you are looking for a good authentic Mexican Taco, I haven't found better.

Changed from 3 stars to 4 because the tortas are AMAZING! The rest was ok even though there are lots of good options. Good corn tortillas. The pinto beans were interesting (spicy with hotdogs and pieces of tomato). I am not sure if the black bean option is also spicy or not. The rice is classic. Good seating options. Have high chairs for kids.

It's the real thing... Mexicans don't eat tacos in hard shells and that's what these guys sell. The only problem is that it feels a little too authentic at times... the vibe isn't as polished as your normal restaurants... but hey, this is the real deal, right? Their menus has expanded... I"m not a big fan of their new additions, especially not the Goritas... doesn't rub me the right way... but they aren't about to change the tacos and that's all I care about!

Given the appearance and hodgepodge interior, I was expecting authenticity, but the outward look seems to be where that ends. The food is a major disappointment. Aside from being unable to make a torta for reasons that weren't clearly explained, pretty much nothing I ordered seemed fresh. Dry, rubbery meats; stale tortillas; bland salsas; stale mass-produced tortilla chips; guacamole with an artificial-seeming texture as that's mass produced and sold in bags at supermarkets. I've been to more tacquerias than I can count in hotspots like Texas and California, and seen my fair share of mediocre tacquerias, but this place stands out as the worst I have been to in my entire life.

These guys prepare some of the tastiest food I've had in years. The flavors are out of this world on standard classics, I had the three enchiladas with the spicy Verde salsa and rice and black beans. The soup, which I had for lunch the next day, is also spectacular. I had to take it to go because I couldn't eat it all at once. Seriously recommend stopping here if you are passing through Ann Arbor. The people are friendly to boot!! 5 stars. Todd Bless!

Always go to Tmaz for a quick taco craving. I like it more than other places closer to Downtown Ann Arbor. The place has grown slot since I started coming here, which is also a sign of how good it is. My favorite tacos are carnitas and barbacoa. They also have good vegetarian options like mushrooms.

I had a carry out. The 3 taco meal. They offered more than one selection for beef, chicken and pork . I had one of each meat selection: chipotle chicken, pulled pork, and shredded beef. All tasted good. The rice and pinto beans were seasoned perfectly. Excellent customer service!

FANTASTIC place to grab lunch, dinner, or take-out. Authentic flavors and dishes and the friendly staff make the experience enjoyable every time, and the food is quite affordable. There are so many places to try Mexican food in Ann Arbor, it's tough to pick one. As far as quality of food, taste, cost, and the staff, I think this is the best one in Ann Arbor. The menu is not large, but there are many fillings to choose from, and the place has a hometown-feel to it. They even have avocado ice-cream bars!

This place is perfect! Spartan furnishing, but the food...oh my. The barbacoa was tender, juicy the right amount of heat. The chicken was flavorful and moist, the marinated pork excellent. Skip the soda and get one of their flavored waters. They are portioned from the buckets in the cooler by the register. I enjoyed the tropical. Price was right, food was spot on! Thank you Tmaz.

Ordered via Grubhub. No non-spicy options. Ordered 2 Tamales and 3 Taco meal. Started with the rice ( which was different) and moved on to a Taco...then the heat hit me. Let's just say the Magic Mouthwash got beat by a taco. I still tried to eat it but couldn't finish. That's when I did a little investigation into what was in my taco...I found what looked like seeds...jalapeno seeds to be exact. I'm not sure if they were in the other two tacos but by then, I was threw. My taste buds had enough and so did the lining of my mouth. Total waste of money and food. If I try again, it wont be through Grubhub, itll be dining in the restaurant so I have options on level of heat.

My son and I had to find a place to eat near the movie theater and he wanted tacos so we stopped here after looking on google. The entrance was confusing cuz its kids part of 3 different buildings so we felt kinda silly. We knew no Spanish but the guy at the counter was super nice even with little language barrier. Food was amazing, the Mexican ice cream was outstanding and A perfect treat. Best part was the same gentleman who took our order came to our table and offered two Mexican candies to my son for free. This place isn't a 5-star look but the way you get treated was definitely 5 stars and hope to stop in there Again in the future. P.s the man at the register in my photo is the reason id go back again. Super nice and caring ------------------- Mi hijo y yo tuvimos que encontrar un lugar para comer cerca del cine y él quería tacos, así que nos detuvimos aquí después de buscar en google. La entrada era confusa porque sus niños formaban parte de 3 edificios diferentes, así que nos sentimos un poco tontos. My spouse and I enjoy the poblano pepper stuffed with cheese adequately sauced with black beans and rice. Also we shared a couple of tamales chicken and vegetarian. The poblano pepper was great and the sauce went really well with the beans and rice which also had a very good flavor. Better than most chain restaurants. The tamales really did Shine the chicken was not overcooked and the corn meal very flavorful and moist. We really enjoy this Taqueria!

We tried two of 15 types of tacos at Tmaz. Of the two, the carne asada were the better ones, but the chorizo was good too. I especially liked the smokey flavor of the former. We also selected only a few of the fresh toppings. Lime, tomato, lettuce, onion and cilantro went great with the steak. The red hot sauce was potent, but not my favorite. My spouse preferred the milder green sauce. We both loved the hibiscus tea!

Pozole (pork stew) is one of my favorite food values in Ann Arbor. It is a spicy wonderful treat every time I have it. Occasionally the pork is pretty fatty. If that's too much of a put-off for you, you might want to pass. I love the pozole here so much I'm willing to gamble in this regard. My wife likes their tacos.

From Phx, Az and whenever we travel we like to look for good authentic Mexican food and I felt they were really good. The Barbacoa meat is something that one should try! Also if you are ever looking for takis (mexican spicy chips) in Michigan I would come here to buy small or big bags at a good price. They were very kind and nice there. They speak Spanish here too.

Amazing guacamole! Definitely a lot better than I expected. Got 3 enchiladas and they were super flavorful and very cheap! Freshly pressed tortillas. Much better than chipotle or qdoba by far. Super fresh, great choice of meats, and the pinto beans are a lot better tasting than they look. Great selection of Mexican treats, ice cream, jarritos, and real cane sugar coca cola. The only reason I gave it 4/5 is because the look of the place is a little out of date and slightly unappealing. But the food...well worth dining in. Very, very kind staff.

Lovely little place with great, inexpensive food. Had a Mexican food craving and this place definitely scratched the itch. A la carte tacos are under $2 a piece with plenty of selections and served with fresh onion and cilantro. The black bean and cheese tacos were delicious. Great price, great food. I'll be coming regularly. Oh, and there was a beautiful cockatoo playing outside as I was leaving as well, awesome!

This place can be a little hard to find in the shopping center it is located in on Packard. But once you find it, its worth it. The food is made right in front of you behind a glass counter. It is Mexican street food /taqueria, tacos and tamales and house made soups. The Pork Tamales are wonderful and served with rice and beans if you order the meal. Also, served with a side of a spicy guacamole sauce, wonderful. Understand before that they do not have table service. You wait in line, order, pay, and then take your food to a table and get your own soft drinks. I have been in with kids and the staff was great, toward the end of the meal they came to the table and gave each kid a candy bar made in Mexico, nice touch. This taqueria is located in a small grocery store.

I wish I had found out about this place sooner. The place is very authentic. Without a doubt, the best Mexican restaurant I've been to in Michigan. The food is awesome - good ingredients and authentic dishes. The staff is friendly. I would make the drive from Fenton to go here!

Gave me crappy tamales with some kind of mystery meat instead of pork and chicken.. Going to get my money back. The side of rice was 4 oz. Really! That's not the generous I'm familiar with. Something bad is going on with this restaurant.
