My wife and I stopped for breakfast and we were not disappointed! The selection of donuts were second to none and were topped only by their flavor. It's possible that they were the best donuts I've ever had. Most of the donuts cost $1.50 to $2 and the coffee was pretty good. There are a few tables inside and some picnic tables outside. When we are in the Petoskey area again we will definitely return.

Stopped in this beautiful, Hot, Sunday am, after leaving a cafe in Harbor Springs where a breakfast with eggs, meat, hash browns and toast was a reasonable $10. 1 Danish and 2 small frosted Pumpkin cookies at your bakery was $7.50!!!! OUCH. 3 times the price it should have been and if there weren't others in the bakery, I would have refused to pay that ridiculous amount. NEVER AGAIN.

It's gone downhill. Used to be a must do whenever we come to town, but no more. The bagels were sooo good about 3 years ago. Now they are barely better than Walmart bagels. The donuts are still good (only reason it isn't 1 star).

Always great donuts and rolls. Johan's has been here a long time with high quality baked goods. I always get the old fashioned sour cream glazed donut. The raised cinnamon roll is also delicious. They make a dough for their baked and fried rolls that the chain shops can only dream of. Well worth the stop for a roll and coffee or coffee cake or fresh bread to take home.

As soon as I walked in the door I felt like an intruder. The gentleman waiting on me greeted me gruffly, asked what I wanted before I even had a chance to look then hovered over me while I did. I felt rushed and unwelcome. After every donut I ordered I was asked 'anything else' making me feel like he wanted me gone, so I only got a few (far less than I intended on ordering) and got out the door as quickly as possible. Donuts were good though. Word to the wise, know what you want when you walk in so you dont waste any of their time being a customer!

Yummy doughnuts. Good variety and delicious. They have cookies, doughnuts, muffins, cakes, pies, bagels, coffee, cappuccino, and cold beverages. There is no parking lot. You will have to parrallel park on the street. There are only 4 tables and 15 chairs total. There are also 2 x 4 person picnic tables outside. When purchasing a dozen there are small and large doughnuts. They are prices accordingly. There is no public restroom.

I was deeply saddened to learn that Georgy, the 48 year old parrot who enjoyed life at the bakery died. This happened 9 months after a State Agriculture official insisted on displacing Georgy to a pet store. Said the parrot didn't belong in a bakery even though he thrived there 40 yrs.

Johan's is my absolute favorite place to get donuts! If you like sugar and frosting, I highly recommend the Cream Filled Long John's. Johan's has been a family favorite for us for over 10 years, and every time I return to Petoskey I have to stop by for a donut. I don't think there's a single item on the menu that isn't delicious, you simply cannot go wrong with a stop at Johan's!

My son and i stopped at a gas station on our way downstate last year and found these huge, amazing doughnuts. We tried to go there again when my husband was in the hospital down that way. We found the gas station but they were out of doughnuts. Later in the week my husband was getting discharged. I saw a small pastry shop and thought I'd pick him up a doughnut. When i walked in i knew immediately this was the source of those amazing doughnuts! Every case full of every doughnut, cookie and pie imaginable! They cost a little more than most places, but doughnuts are about double the size of others. I'll stop in again next time I'm down that way for sure.

We went to pick up a custom birthday cake for a 16th birthday and when we went to go pick it up they had no idea what we were talking about. We talked on the phone with a lady telling her exactly how we wanted the custom cake and she said she'd have it ready. But when we went we got something very frustrating they had no idea what we were talking about and they didn't have a order for our cake. Very poor service would not recommend. We had to go to another bakery and pickup a regular cake. Very frustrating experience

Johan’s is a staple of Petoskey and the place for doughnuts and bagels. Their cinnamon rolls are very good, ask for a middle one. It can get very busy and the lobby is not organized. Be prepared to order when it is your turn.

I absolutely love cinnamon rolls and consider myself hard to impressive when it comes to them. My husband and I stopped here on a weekend trip and I am so glad we did. The cinnamon roll did not disappoint! It was flaky, soft and the icing was the perfect amount of sweet. We also had an old fashion sour cream doughnut and that too was out of this world. I can’t wait to go back!

I pulled a long black hair out of the frosting of my birthday cake while eating it at my birthday dinner. My mom has always sworn when she went in the back kitchen once to grab donuts for a work order that the kitchen was absolutely disgusting and I’m starting to believe this may actually be the case. We were given a sample of white cake that was as white as wedding cake batter, before we ordered a birthday cake. But when given a birthday cake, it had a yellow batter. We were told they don’t make yellow cakes on the day the replacement cake was supposed to be ready (as a white cake). However, when we called the day we cut into the birthday cake, a female worker said, “the yellow cake is as good as the white cake.” We did not receive another cake, but were given a refund. I think they are over-priced and the chocolate cake is not moist (purchased one on a different occasion). We ordered a white birthday cake because we were told it is moist (but it wasn’t white)...we are disappointed in their professionalism. Why couldn’t the worker tell us on the day we cut the cake and called that they don’t make yellow cakes?

Bought strawberry rhubarb pie August 7th, 2018. Very excited as it was a gift for friends and that is their favorite pie. This was the WORST excuse for a pie! HORRIBLE!!! I've come to Johann's several times over the past couple years and arrive at the same conclusion every time. They serve day-old, stale donuts at full retail in their front display case. There's no way of knowing the difference until after payment. The establishment is clean and staff reasonably nice, but that's where it ends. A customer should NEVER question if a pastry is fresh. The fact that customers pay for Johanns failure to effectively manage their inventory is poor, and only one reason can explain why a donut shop would do that: greed. I will never return and encourage everyone to vote with their dollars and go elsewhere.

The Custard filled logs are delicious, the chocolate peanut butter slice will melt in your mouth, and the free cinnamon scroll that she gave us fresh out of the oven was magical. As you drive in or through the city, make sure you stop by Johan's!!! You won't be disappointed!!
