Here you will be able to see the feddbacks of people who are buying the services and products of Athan\'s Bakery - Brighton (Bakery) in the state of Massachusetts.
Nowadays this business receives a score of 4.2 over 5 and that rating has been based on 169 reviews.
As you can see its rating is very high, and it is based on a large number of opinions, so we can think that the rating is very accurate. If people have bothered to leave their feddback when they are happy with the service, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to write opinions when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Bakery belongs to the category of Bakery.
I went in with my young so he could pick out a chocolate. We sat at a round table with chairs that had arms so my son would be better situated. The employee told me I couldn't sit there as the section was closed. I said I would be happy to sit at the other tables if I was solo, but everyone was sitting in the tightly lined up 2 tops quietly working and I didn't want my son disturbing them. I asked to speak with a manager she got her owner on the phone and I explained the situation and he said that "section is closed" (even though I was not asking for service.) I purchased at the counter. I felt like I was being punished for bringing a child in the establishment and he said that was my choice if I felt that way. What happened to hospitality and making people feel welcome and sit at a table that would otherwise be empty? So bizarre.
Had some great baklava and lovely tea. Shame it closed early when we were there.
The hours they list online are wrong, but several times we came when they were supposed to be open even according to the schedule on their door - and they were closed anyway.
Wonderfully friendly staff. Not the perfect place to study in my opinion because atmosphere isn't all that cozy, maybe it's the high ceilings..
Not a huge variety, but tasty food. Always seems empty.
Excellent place. Food is fresh a delicious. Especially de Dako Salad or the Kalamata Salad both are Greek salads. These are my favorite. As for the customer service, it is excellent. I would recommend people to stop by and give it a try... You will not be disappointed.
We drove 60 miles looking to buy a Greek cake. We stopped at a previous greek store that recommended us to go to Athena claiming they have fresh greek pastries, cakes and other stuff. So we took the extra 20 min drive to check it out. When we had finally reached our destination not only was there no parking to get in the place and we drove in circles for an additional 15 min till we found a parking spot. But when we actually entered the store we were told they didn't have sweet bread and they didn't sell greek cakes. When we asked how much the cakes they had were they told us $12.99 a pound, not for nothing but when in the world did they ever sell cakes by the pound. All the cakes they had were frozen. As one greek person to another I wouldn't recommend this place. I was better off driving to new York
Tasty, very.
Great Bakery...Breakfast...and more...
Very good pastry, but awful coffee :(
Love the brunch, its become a regular Sunday tradition. The pastries are also delicious. However, we miss the Rum Cake!
Good pastries, cookies and ice cream.
Nice and wonderful folks. Their Lentil soup is the best I ever had. I wish they have it every day of the week. Great and healthy ingredients...
One of the best dessert places in Boston, possibly the best. Of course, the original store in Brookline is also good, but this spot is less crowded. The cakes are to die for, even if a bit too sweet.
Simply the best
Fresh and delicious as usual. Lots of great pastry. Baklava is amazing. The lady at the register isn’t very friendly though. Still a great place.
I love it!!!!! ♥️
This was my local coffee/ breakfast spot when I lived in Brighton. Almond crusted custard filled croissant and eggs a la grecque were my favorite go-tos.
I love this place
Awesome croissants
Great food, good coffee.
Best coffee EVER!! They roast it fresh every morning. I go to the Brighton location all the time (Brookline is also very nice) Excellent service!!
Excellent food. Best pastries ever. Friendly service. Will most definitely be back. Their Brookline location is fantastic as well.
I was disappointed to see the bachery in Brighton closing at 9:00 pm instead of 10:00pm last Saturday. There was still one hour left and the girl with long hair sweeping the floor refused to open the door for us 03 people. Workers need to respect time and people who want to spend and enjoy quality time in special places they like, and not being ignored.
This is a good place for reading, working on your computer, talking with a friend. The decor is very modern and spacious. The baked goods are way better than Daniel's Bakery next door, but are too pricey. Mirror Cafe down the street has just as awesome baked goods for a cheaper price. Mirror Cafe's food is more mainstream American, while Athan's is trendy modern and more creative culinarily. Athan's and Cafe Nation are your best bets on Washington for just sitting to read or work; both are pricey, but unlike a Starbucks for example, there is almost always a place to sit at both places. Another good place to read on Washington Street is Cafe Nero, about 3 blocks to the east of Athan's; but (surprise!) that's pricey too.
Very good food!!
Really good pastries, with a cappuccino, yummmmm.
It is nice!
It's a wonderful bakery, quite different in their offerings as compared to a traditional bakery. I'm usually here for one of three things: baklava, biscuits and/or chocolates. And they have so many varieties of them! With the baklava, you can get the original, pistachio, almond, chocolate, etc. They're a good sweet treat but my favorites are the biscuits! Oh, so soft and crumbly, just the right amount of sweet. Goes well perfectly as a snack for tea/coffee breaks or as an after meal dessert. And again, there are so many variations to choose from. The best part is you don't have to buy a pack of the same cookies (thank you, Athan's!). Who wants a dozen same cookies when you can pick and choose and customize to your heart's content! I always get a wide assortment - chocolate, almond, sugar, orange, etc. And now coming to their handmade chocolates - yum. They have milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Filled with rice krispies, toffee, caramel, etc. They make a lovely present too. I do wish they would label each tray properly. But their staff has always been kind to answer all my questions. I've only eaten in once. I had their panini with brie and tomato. It was nice but a little dry. Came with a side of coleslaw which lacked flavor and was also dry. My suggestion would be to change the side to a dipping sauce or a half cup of soup, at least for this sandwich. Athan's is definitely my go-to place for their yummy biscuits and chocolates. Give it a try, it might become yours too!
This review is for a Greek rembetika concert night. Athan's is not necessarily the best venue in the world for a small Greek music concert, but the mere fact that they host Greek/Greek American musicians so that this music can be performed warrants five stars in itself. There was also a small Greek food menu for the paid concert area in the back which included loukaniko, keftedakia, olives, kaseri cheese, feta, spanakopita and tiropita, plus a pork and rice dish which I did not order. They served Aris beer. For dessert, galaktoboureko was on the menu. I can't speak for Athan's as a cafe on a regular day, but I do recommend coming for Greek concerts.
I bought some pastries as dessert for an evening with old friends -- they were practically inedible. They were very sweet, not very flavorful, and tasted like they had been in the display case for quite some time. Very disappointing, especially since they were pricey!
I've always enjoyed a nice cup off coffee here and catch up with friends.
Good bakery
Awesome menu, and wonderful service!
Excellent Vaclava here try it
Best bakery in Brighton.
Secret gem of Brighton square.. Try the spinach pies.. Sweet and salty heaven.. The bread is to die food
Delicious baclava and french pastry. Also coffee and wifi. This location good for bkfst and lunch, art on the walls
Great place for breakfast, dinner, or a snack. Wonderful coffee, pastries, candies and gelato.
One of my favorite cafes around. Lots of seating for hanging out or getting work done. Parking isn't that bad, there's wifi, and they gave great hours. What more could you ask for? Oh and their cakes are delicious
The bakery was supposed to be open till 10 p.m. and we were there at 9! But they had closed the door and wouldn’t open it (even though they were inside) and said the business was slow today so we closed early! We were a party of 6 people and it would have been good business!
Great authentic baklava
Absolutely fabulous croissants!!
Delicious and chill, excellent pastries!
Great food and service. Love the eggs Benedict and the omelets. From the sweets definitely recommend the bolero.
The food was not great. The staff was friendly in the cafe. However, I left my water bottle in the cafe and when I called to check they said there was nothing there. They didn't even bother to check. I know they didn't check that time because I called back again after 10 minutes and they said that the bottle was there. I went back to take it. However, I found their behavior extremely unreasonable.
I ordered a black forest cake and a strawberry one as well. The cakes were delicious but the service was terribly slow... I hate to deduct a star but I shouldn't have to wait half an hour when only two people were in front of me.
Delicious desserts and magnificent service
Great prices and the baked goods are delicious!
The breakfast was subpar. I can't speak to the baked goods but I do not recommend eating breakfast there.
Top notch service and coffee. Gladis is irreplaceable - a wonderful lady. Many thanks.
Quaint little bakery. Great bread and friendly service.
ok so like good coffee but sometimes questionable service. sometimes extremely slow and staff seem pissed off
They have so many amazing treats: gelato and cookies and pastries, and the food menu has so many things I can’t wait to try. Breakfast and dinner all day makes me happy.
Some of the best chocolates around
This place is awesome. It is good for hanging out with friends
The almonds croissant is ok. Nothing special, like the hot chocolate, but the attendant was helpful. - [About the Iri's reply] Thanks Iris. I said something about the hot chocolate because for me (and my friends), the quality was below that we was presuming/waiting (because some friends told me about the place before my visit). But, thanks for reply.
Best desert ever
Awesome pastries! Try The Napoleon- a cream filled puff pastry
A delicious experience
Love this place! Gorgeous cappuccino
Some waitresses are openly hostile as if you own them money. The young lady with dark hair and a blonde girl treated me like a refugee. I won't come back again.
It's my favorite place to have Sunday breakfast with my boys. Great service and the food is good.
Service was nice and the attendant was really helpful. However, food and coffee were just ok.
Great service, nicely decorated with lots of room and tables. The pastries are amazing and the breakfast buffet is worth the money.
Great smoothie from fresh fruits! Black currant sorbet is great too - if you like unsweetened
I absolutely adore it here. The person behind the counter is the kindest most helpful person I have ever dealt with in food service. The baked goods are so good I like all of it from the cookies to the cakes, not to mention their chocolates are to die for! I highly recommend all of their goods
I stop by here occasionally for croissants or strudels. Every purchase has been delicious. Stopped in yesterday morning for a chocolate croissant and latte. Fantastic!
The pastries are delicious, but the coffee is atrocious. It kind of poses itself as a coffee shop, with seating and all, but the coffee is really bad. They don't have a proper espresso maker, but if you there for the cooked goods, you won't be disappointed.
Unfortunately served the worst cup of coffee I've had in Boston. But it was fast, even if undrinkable. The food I saw other people eating looked fine, but I'd avoid the coffee.
Cavernous and poorly lit drab space, mostly ignored by staff, pastry flavorless and turkey sandwich supposedly grilled on a brioche was actually soft french toast.
Not bad
Good
I love this Bakery. I have been going to this place for the past few years. Whenever there is some function or something, I always come here to buy the cake and it always taste very good. I love there mango cake. I would definitely recommend this place.
Absolutely delicious pastry. Will be returning
They have a cafe area as well as a sit down restaurant section, so you have your choice of ordering from the bar or being waited on by a server. We sat in the sit down area for brunch, and the brioche french toast, served with sour cherry butter, was fluffy and flavorful. However, on the day of our visit, the service in the sit down cafe area was very slow (though friendly!). Their coffee drinks are always great.
The pastries are excellent! The servers are kind and attentive. I come here at least once a week.
Love this place. I'm fat because I love there cakes
not bad
Didn't get the bad service others are taking about but nothing blew me away either
The cakes are nice and it's a quiet little place to sit and talk or study.
My go-to dessert place in Brighton. Always fresh and tasty bakery
.................... hold on, let me finish my tiramisu. GUILTY PLEASURES HERE. Don't walk, run...now. Get something to take home, or stay for the marble table seating.
So good
Love this place and Gladys who runs it ! She always knows my order and gets it right every single time
Best pastries in Boston..
Truly delicious croissants and mocha, and very friendly and authentic staff, at totally reasonable prices. I definitely intend to visit again.
Good Greek Food!
