The Chipper

Nice people ( although seemed a little chilly on multiple occasions to a non- Middle Easterner) and good variety of pastries. I really wanted to love this place because I love Middle Eastern sweets . However, although I have tried them four or five times now with great optimism, every time I go the pastries taste as if they have been in the case too many days past their optimal eating time. All of the baklavas are incredibly mushy, with none of the top-layer crustiness you expect from the phyllo dough when the baklava has been made within 24 hours. Ditto the eclairs, cream puffs and fruit tarts, which are all mushy, and taste as if they have been sitting for a little bit too long. It is possible there is a problem with the refrigeration, or the way they store the pastries, but I am guessing that everything is one day past optimal freshness. Just my opinion.

I am not really that familiar with Persian cuisine, let alone their pastries. I went to this place for the first time today, and I am pretty sure I’m coming back. Whatever I tried today (I don’t remember the name) was fantastic.

I must go back...walked through after eating in the area, clean shop, quaint bakery, looks like a family operation, friendly service, I had a couple small bites, standout: mini-eclairs, fresh, light, nice chocolate coating; things were fresh - key for a good bakery. Not a lot of foods I'm used to or have eaten often or have a particular taste for, but most are familiar. Based upon a couple tastes, I'd like to go back and try more, given the freshness and family feel, seems like a good place to food explore.

If you want to try some exotic breads and pastries, this is the bakery for you. I tried them for the first time last night, I don't even know what the breads I bought are called, but they're not bad especially as something to try for the first time.

The owner was kind and patient in explaining which items were vegan. The zoolbias burst in my mouth like a fountain of cool, sweet syrup. We hope there are zoolbias sold where we live in Virginia. Otherwise we'll find creative reasons to stop by again.

Small Persian bakery in Rockville but we drive from DC to get to Yasaman’s delicious Persian pastries. They don’t use butter cream in their cakes so the cakes are very delicate and light. The special orders are easy and the owner really works with her clients to achieve their vision. I have ordered a few cakes, big and small from them and they have been a hit at our parties. The vanilla cake with coffee cream filling is so delicious so is their strawberry filling.

I live in Wisconsin and so I don't have easy access to Persian bakery. I carried a box of cookies on my flight home and the cookies made it the whole way wihout falling apart into pieces. Taste was great. Not too sweet. Very fresh. Overall, I recommend this bakery.

May God bless the owners they have been making the best Iranian delicacies for decades now my family and I have been enjoying their fruit cakes and pastries on all occasions(really since I was a small baby). No one anywhere in the states makes such delicious cakes as theirs. I craved these cakes years ago in California and had to return to the DMV only to taste again with love.

Wonderful experience. Just presented for baklava, wait was longer and was invited to try samples from a platter! (Okay...twist my arm.) Delicious. Baklava (sp) was the freshest and best I have ever had. Despite not having pistachio dusting, incredible. Service incredible, so inviting and comfortable. Like going home again. 14$ for 1 lb of baklava. Very reasonable compared to Sasuns Restaurant on Muncaster Mill. Will definately return.

DO NOT GO HERE! If I could give it a zero, then I would. My fiancee purchased a simple white cake. But when we tried some of it it tasted like paper. I told him he should return it. This is with two slices missing. He explained the taste and they said that it must of been in the freezer too long. They then gave my fiancee a new cake. However, with the second cake, the stale paper taste was the same! He came back to return it a couple days later, because they're closed one day out of the week, and they refused him. This time with only one slice missing. It tasted like paper! He asks the owner if they tasted it and she said no because no one has ever returned anything. She then said that she wouldn't even have taken it back the first time, but she wasn't there. But her staff that day understood and knew that this is something that happens when items are left frozen for too long. But the owner couldn't grasp that!
