UNDERCOVER RACISTS! BLACKS AND PEOPLE OF COLOR BEWARE! I placed an order for a cake yesterday. It hasn't even been 24 hours. I kept thinking about the level of customer service that I received when I placed my order. I really wanted this order because one I liked the previous service I received at this bakery, and two I wanted this cake for my sister's graduation. So this morning I called to cancel my order. The first person who answered the call gave the phone to a manager who quoted that there was some bogus reason that she couldn't refund the $ to me but could only grant store credit. I am upset because I am requesting to cancel the order for a reason NOT just because I don't want the cake. Yesterday when I ordered the cake the young white guy who took my order, while he took it, he did so begrudgingly. My sister wanted a yellow cake with white buttercream frosting, but then when I looked at the form, she wanted to know how some of the other flavors tasted. We both like coconut cake, so I asked the guy how theirs taste. He took a cupcake from the display, and again he did all this begrudgingly. When he gave me a plastic spoon to taste the cake, he threw it on the counter. That was strike #1, but I didn't think much of it at the time. Then, the kicker was when I paid for my order. I handed my card to him in his hand, but he then placed it and the receipt on the counter. I thought about this all night. Now I know this bakery is in the Atholton High School area, and they have had some racial issues with some of their students calling black students the N-word. And his treatment of me throughout my visit reminded me of that. I thought would he have thrown a spoon at a white customer, or would he had given it to them? The same for the card on the counter. To top this off, the so-called manager with whom I spoke never once cared to ask why I was cancelling the order. When I asked to speak with someone other than her, meaning the owner, she refused, telling me he will be in some day this week and that she was not going to put me in contact with him. She never ONCE asked me why I wanted to cancel the order. And when I pushed her on her lack of concern, she began to explain to me how she handles customer service calls. If the customer doesn't outright tell her what the problem is, she doesn't ask. Again, she came on the phone quoting to me their refund policy, never once asking what was the problem. She didn't even have concern in her voice at all. So this tells me the type of people I have been patronizing all these years. If I had been white, she would've done everything she could to rectify that situation. When the call ended, the manager didn't even explain next steps or anything just bye. I even gave her the opportunity to act like she even cared by telling her I would expose her bakery on every review platform possible. What was the result? Dead silence! Again, if I were some rich white woman, does even think this would have been her response? I can answer that for myself. Everyone tends to think Columbia is this little community insulated from racists, but I know it to be a tad different. Every now and then I will have one of these experiences here, and I'm glad when they happen because they show me who people really are. Just wish I had found this out the other times I'd been here. I have been to Touche's several times. Guess it took a more extensive experience for them to show how they really feel. In fact, I just went to their other cafe bakery in Elkridge the other day for the first time. No, I don't want a store credit because this means I would still have to spend my $30 there at your store. But when I tell you I will NEVER patronize this bakery again. And ANY black or person of color that I know who is thinking about patronizing you, I will point them to this review. It's fine that you have gotten $30 off me. I will survive and order my sister's cake from a bakery that will actually treat me like a customer. But rest assured, your racist bakery will reap what you sowed on the back end.

Nice place, nice staff, but the cupcakes were ungodly sweet. Half the amount of sugar would have made a really good cupcake. Nobody at work liked the cupcakes that I brought in, it was unanimous. I've heard the same thing from others.

I was on my way home from work last night when I saw this place and I thought maybe I should check them out to see if there was anything I could buy for my daughter. I ended up getting a box of cupcakes which my 6 year old absolutely loved!

Stay with the tried and true with their cakes. The best one is the gold cake with Chocolate buttercream. The cakes in their shop are all delicious and beautifully decorated. Their gingerbread cookies are excellent, the cut out cookies a little thick for my tastes. However, don't ask them to deviate from what they offer, because the results will be less than satisfactory. Since we had tried a couple of their cakes (Choc with rasp filling, gold w/ choc buttercream) and they were very good, I asked if they could do a made-to-order cake with an icing and filling they do not usually do. They said yes. The cake looked beautiful, but I took one piece and threw the rest in the garbage. The chocolate mousse filling I asked for was gelatinous and just did not taste like mousse. The icing was not anywhere close to what I wanted, and it was a different flavored buttercream than what they offer. I still go there, their buche de noels are beautiful (and recently went up in price), their stock cakes are good, just don't go off the menu, and you'll be a happy camper.

Best cookies ever! I swear by their iced oatmeal (which is dairy-free, BTW); my wife loves their harvest cookie; and my co-worker simply refers to their chocolate chip as The Cookie. Their cakes are also excellent.

Just wanted to say what an amazing experience I had with this little bakery. I ordered a custom sheet cake for a coworker's farewell party and asked the lettering to be done like in the show Breaking Bad. They took their time to accurately depict the periodic table and even added little numbers for the element number and molecular weight. Attention to little details like this truly makes me feel how passionate they are about their work and I will definitely be using them in the future. I've already gotten many compliments from coworkers and been spreading the words. Thank you!

This place is the quintessential bakery. The cookies are as big as your face, the cupcakes perfect and perfectly frosted and the pastries gorgeous in look and flavor. My 4 year old loves the donuts and my grown folks love everything. The spices they use are high quality as is everything else I can detect. It's just amazing, frankly.

We got our kids birthday here....it was really horrible , after paying so much of money to them...it was like flushing the money in the toilet... We have had purchased the cake before with them, they tasted so good and that is why I re-ordered the birthday cake from here...this time the quality was too bad, it tasted like sugar and the it was not soft too...it was better to buy a BJ's or Costco cake .Actually I ended up doing that in my party as I could not serve this cake to the guests. The cake was sugary, had sugar lumps in the chocolate cake and I took the effort to call them and tell, what happened she was like , oh I am sorry can you bring in the cake and we will compensate and all that, once I took the cake there yesterday, she re-iterated the boss was not there and they will call me next day morning and let me know...they never called up, when I call she tells me thatz the quality of there cake, and it will be so sweet with the sugar lumps... thought I will write a review for folks who are planning to buy their cake for bigger occasions...please beware as you make feel bad serving this cake to your family and friends.

My lovely Granny was having her 80th birthday and we wanted to make it special. So I asked a number of people what was the best place to get the best cake in town. As you would probably surmised, there were a number of answers but the bakery that came up the most often – nearly have the time-- was The Touche Touchet Bakery. So many people recommended it. And now I know the reason why. I am going to recommend it too. It beautifully decorated and delicious and it move my grandmother nearly to tears.

I have ordered cakes from this place several times now and have never had a problem. Their staff is always friendly, and the cakes have been ready on time. Their Black Forest Cake is delicious. I personally love their lemon drop cupcakes which are big.. first bite is kinda boring, but then the second bite is filled with this delicious gooey lemon goodness that's in the middle of the cupcake - it's a surprise every time. I recommend this place for your special event cake or cupcakes.

I'm familiar with Touche Touchet and have purchased bakery sweets here for years. They are always wonderful, especially the canoli, you have to try the canoli. Today for the first time, I purchased a turkey and swiss croissant sandwich. It was delicious. The sandwiches are cold in the case, so I was asked if I would like it heated. I said yes. It was heated but not in a microwave. It took a little longer but it was worth it. It was soft and warm and crispy on the outside just like a croissant should be.

Went there looking for a custom birthday cake. Bought some cupcakes to see if we liked them before ordering. Found the cupcakes cake to be stiff and low flavor. They looked very good but flavor was not near as good as they looked. This was after leaving them out at room temperature as they recommend.

This bakery makes world class desserts from cupcakes to cannolis and cookies to savory egg and cheese croissants, but it feels like your neighborhood bakery. I'm lucky enough to live within walking distance. The staff are warm and friendly, and I always love the treats. Try some of my favorites: the butterscotch pecan cookies, German chocolate cupcakes, or raspberry thumbprint cookies. The last time I went with my 3yo and baby twins, Lorie behind the counter came out to hold a crying baby, so I could enjoy my cookie. And Belinda gave my 3yo a cookie to cheer him up after a tumble. Love this place!

Very small shop with a few seats. They had a variety of cup cakes, they are heavy and little on the larger size. Did not see cakes, just slices pre-packed in small boxes. Cup cakes tasted good, frosting on top is heavy and on the sweater side to my taste. They accept all credit cards here and had PayPal and WiFi sign on the door also.

Delicious cupcakes! I got a box of 4 cupcakes (Coconut Creme, Raspberry Chocolate, Red Velvet and Vanilla with Chocolate Buttercream) and each and everyone of them was amazing! The buttercream was packed full of flavour without being too sweet and the cakes were moist and the perfect size for a fulfilling treat. One thing I want to point out is that the Raspberry Chocolate cupcake was filled all the way through with Raspberry jelly and it was more sweet than tart which ended up making the cupcake a little more sweet than I'd usually like, but that's a personal preference! All in all, great little spot!

Cannot thank Touche Touchet enough for making an unforgettable Sweet Sixteen birthday cake for our daughter. I basically said, "she loves roses, music and cross-country" and they went with it, creating a cake topped with roses with a runner racing the outside of the cake along the musical notes to Happy Birthday. INCREDIBLY creative, gorgeous cake, and equally delicious. A++++

Best bakery in Howard County!!!!! A friend brought me a brioche cinnamon roll from this place and said, "You must try this!". It was AMAZING! So I then had to go to this bakery for myself. The cakes and cookies are great here, however I was hired by the owner whom at first seemed really really nice, I wasn't in need of a job at the time because in between applying there and the time I was called in I had already gotten hired at first transit driving the mobility vans for 16$ hour, however the bakery would have been a pay cut to 10$ hour which I would have gladly done for the commute difference (closer to home) when I interviewed they discussed hiring me for asst manager and wanted to know if I would be willing to do that instead of front person which was mornings from 7-3, asst manager needs to be available 10-6 with a little more responsibilities, so of course I wanted to know if it would be more pay cause if not it would not be beneficial for me.. at that time the owner MICHAEL told me yes it pays more and he would discuss that with me one on one. When I went to the hiring orientation/meeting I was given a schedule and it was 10-6 for the week, at that time I asked the question, which I told them at the interview I prefer mornings unless of course the pay is different, the owner said to me the pay don't change until we train you as a asst manager so at that time I said I would rather stick with front person/cashier from 7-3, well he went off HE TOOK THE UNIFORM BACK AND STARTED ORDERING ME TO GET OUT, saying I was gonna be a problem and started using profanity and I couldn't get a word in.. I was dumb founded it was like dr. Jackal and Mr Heidi he turned into a totally different person, if I wasn't so shocked I would have found him funny but he was so unprofessional and rude it wasn't funny.. I'm so glad I did not quit my job for that! He thought he was gonna have me work that shift and act as asst manager without the pay.. NOT ME. With that rudeness,and it was plenty of witnesses I would never even shop there again MICHAEL TOUCHET IS NASTY HE NICE ON THE OUTSIDE BUT ITS MAKE BELEIVE!! HE's a monster

This is my favorite bakery! I get all the birthday cakes here, and stop by often for cupcakes, cookie sandwiches, and lots of other things. The cake itself in items is always perfectly done, and the icing is heavenly. Great service every time too! I was heartbroken when I had to move from Los Angeles away from the sprinkles cupcake shop I lived so close to, then when I moved to Columbia I discovered Touche Touchet and it’s WAY better! Keep up the great work!!

Their cupcakes are amazing! Sometimes too sugary for me but when I'm in the right mood they are perfect. I love their chicken salad sandwiches and would dine there more if they had more options for lunch. They do have egg and tuna salad, I'm not a fan of those in general but I'm certain they are delicious for those who do enjoy them!

I started swinging by here for breakfast after one of my co-workers told me about their delicious cookies. For breakfast, I have tried their assortment of croissants to include their sausage, egg, and cheese, their ham and swiss, and their turkey and swiss. Those are the only options available if you are in the mood for a stuffed croissant with a salty filling. They have many sweet filled croissants that I have yet to try but everything I've eaten thus far is very delicious.

Touche Touchet certainly gets an A++ for presentation...but that's probably the only positive thing I can say. The cupcakes as well as the shop are visually appealing, beautifully crafted and interesting. I ordered a variety of specialty and traditional cupcakes. Truthfully, I have just eaten better cupcakes. The frosting was just okay...a little too sweet for my tastes. The frosting also had a bitter after taste. I think good frosting is the most important element to cake, but the range of people's frosting preferences tend to vary, similar to wine and beer. I guess you can't please everyone. The service didn't wow me enough to inspire loyalty to this shop, but they were nice enough. In a cupcake saturated market with a new Dunkin Donuts next door in the other lot, not sure I'll be returning to Touche Touchet.

Delicious desserts! I was worried after looking at their website that it was an event cake/desserts bakery, but was pleasantly surprised. Their were a large selection of cupcakes, cookies, scones, and brownies perfect for the afternoon pick me up. The staff were patient and very polite.

Im only putting 2 stars because the customer service was great, they were extremely friendly. Maybe I should’ve stayed on the dessert side of the menu, because i was extremely disappointed when i got a caesar salad and paid an extra 2 dollars for chicken that turned out to be lunch meat chicken. The dressing wasnt that great either, and if they cant get a simple caesar salad right, thats a huge problem.

The taste was superb, but when the tier cake arrived, it wasn’t in a box covered, it was raining, and it was just in the back of the staffer’s vehicle. When my event ended, I had to try to find something to take my leftovers home in and was unsuccessful, so someone had to hold the cake on their lap from Columbia, MD to Accokeek, MD (1 hour and 20 minutes). If asked if I’d do business there again, I would say “I’m not sure.”

I recently discovered the hand decorated sugar cookies at Touche Touchet Bakery. They are both beautiful and taste delicious. They make wonderful gift in lieu of greeting cards and they offer a variety for any occasion. These cookies are so beautify you will not want to eat them. Eating them is highly recommended though.
