This rating is just a first impression rating. I like the vibe(i.e. music, temperature, decor). It's clean, airy and light. Sampled a few things on the menu, very yummy. They are accommodating to different things the customer wants. Was my first visit and I said as much and the manager came out and took my order and welcomed me properly and seemed equally as nice to other customers. Love their specialty products. Worth a visit even if you do not live or work in the area like I do.

I have been coming to classic bakery since I was a little girl. We would always look forward to my mom coming home with little pastries from here! Recently I had made an order for my moms birthday this past weekend, we had an issue with our cake, but the staff there immediately resolved it and did more than we wanted! This is why we continue to come here, not only because of their delicious cakes and amazing pastries but because they genuinely care about their customers. Thanks again CB!

This is such a cute bakery! It's very light and airy. The decor is simple, yet chic and modern. Whenever my husband and I travel we also seek out a good bakery, this was it for us while visiting DC, although this is technically outside of DC. We bought several different pastries and mini cakes. They had a wide variety to choose from, but didn't offer many cupcakes. I especially liked that the served pastries from different cultures! Lovely place, if we should come back to DC I'll be sure to stop in again!

My little brother was turning 18 and he's obsessed with cars, so I wanted to get him a cake that looked like a vanity license plate that he recently ordered for his car. I came in with the plates for reference and told one of the employees there exactly what I wanted. He politely told me that it was going to be a struggle trying to get the exact colors I wanted since they didn't have much time, but that they would do their best. I ended up ordering a 1/4 sheet yellow cake with tiramisu filling that would serve about 25 people. The total was $82, which seemed pretty reasonable for a custom cake like this

Yesterday my wife bought this beautiful cake from Classic Bakery for my daughter’s baby shower. Imagine my delight and surprise when I returned from work to find half of the cake in the refrigerator. After my dinner I did what any self respecting husband would do in my situation. I cut a slice of this beautiful cake. My attention was immediately drawn to the creamy filling in between layers as I scooped out a finger full to the delight of my senses. I should have stopped there. The cake itself was extremely dry and tasteless so I moved immediately to the icing. I was equally disappointed there. The confectionary substance used was bitter sweet and had the consistency of shoe leather. There was a reason half the cake was left over. It belonged in an art gallery not in someone’s stomach. I am sure she paid more, but if she paid $10 for the cake it was $10 too much.

If I could give them zero stars I would. Cakes are only decent. Whole Foods makes a MUCH better fruit cake for a better price. But what's really wrong with this place is their customer service. It is AWFUL. as if speaking in a different language in front of your customer isn't rude, they also tried charging an inconvenience fee because they had "so many cake orders" for the weekend I requested. Never again.

After I posted my initial review, Areen reached out to me to explain that the cake wasn't done right and a mistake was made on their end. He convinced me to try the cake once more when they do it right this time. Not only there were fresh hazelnuts on the cake, but the cake was fantastic! The cake was just perfect for me - not overly sweet or covered in icing AND the Ferrero Rocher balls on the top. Everyone makes mistakes, but few own up to it and rectify it. I was impressed with Areen's professionalism and customer service. it is rare to encounter this level of customer service these days. It is truly a family-owned business with a diverse selection of baked goods and other food (ice-cream, sandwiches, candies etc.), and a great place to get cakes for every occasion! ************ I decided to give this bakery a try after seeing all the positive reviews, so I ordered a Ferrero Rocher cake for my husband's birthday. The bakery itself is quite nice and their customer service was okay too. I was slightly disappointed when I saw the cake since the presentation of the cake was not that great, but I hoped that it would at least taste good. When I brought the cake home and inspected it, the hazelnuts on the top smelled slightly stale, but I thought that they wouldn't put stale nuts on a cake, so I ignored it. The first thing we did after tasting the hazelnuts on the top was to throw out all the hazelnuts since they were indeed rancid. The nuts not just tasted stale, but also smelled, so I was shocked that they would still put those nuts in the cake. Unfortunately the nuts were also inside the cake, so we couldn't get away from that awful taste. Apart from the stale nuts, the cake tasted nothing close to Ferrero Rocher. It was so underwhelming on the taste. For a cake that wasn't cheap, it was misleading and a rip-off. A grocery store cake would have been a much better choice.

What a pathetic way to treat your customers . I was in there and asked for the Groupon deal an old lady told me that you need to order 48 hours in advance and later she said if you are sad or mad I can give it to you. We told her this is for a surprise birthday party and basically what she was telling us is that if you beg more I might be able to Give you the Deal.. I do not know of customer service getting lower than this and although the store looks very clean and professional but the way that My wife & I were treated today was as low as it would could become.. I hope the manager of the store could read this and realize that there are better ways to help people and to treat people and to respect people and to understand people..

If I could give a negative star review I definitely would! I ordered custom SUGAR cookies. When I picked up my order the design was terrible! It was a cookie with a thick bit of fondant on it and a sticker of the design on the fondant! For $4/cookie I expected a better result. When I smelled/tasted the cookie it smelled and tasted like a ginger snap. These cookies were for my 5yrs old birthday. I had him try it and he spit it out! He loves SUGAR cookies. When I went back and explained this, their explanation was that's their version of a sugar cookie and I should have asked for their recipe when I ordered them. WHO ORDERS FROM A BAKERY AND IS LIKE HOLD ON LET ME CHECK YOUR RECIPE TO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HOW TO MAKE A TRADITIONAL SUGAR COOKIE!!!! I was furious and extremely disappointed. My son was looking forward to these cookies! They may make good cakes, idk... but their design techniques and tastes of cookies is absolutely atrocious!!!

FOOD: I have been coming back to the Classic Bakery for ages. I love their Almond Cookies and their Baklavas. They have a special taste, they are always fresh and delicious and never disappointing. FIVE STARS SERVICE: However, there was no a SINGLE time when they did not make a mistake. I guess it's hard to count those cookies or when I point the finger what I want and I name the desired product, I still get what's next to it. They are rushing everyone, they are not kind towards people and they are clearly presenting their annoying attitude. So, if you guys are reading this and whoever owns this place, you better find young people who will enjoy working here without making those lovely customers sick of this place (because of your poor and unprofessional approach towards them). This is the only reason why I will give 3 stars in total. They made numerous mistakes with my orders, so it is not a coincidence. They just love to pretend stupid. ZERO STARS

The customer service was fine. I ordered the cake over the phone 48 hours in advance as required by the Groupon. In years past I have had the fruit cake from Classic Bakery and it was delicious. The cake I got this time was not nearly as good. The cake was dry verging on stale. The toppings and icing were good, but the cake was very disappointing.

I had a really horrible experience. I spend 180$ for my son’s first birthday, and I ordered a fruity designer cake but they gave me a regular pond cake. I choose strawberry and pineapple flavor instead they gave plain cake with thin layer of white cream . I am very disappointed when I went back to talk manager he was not available and owner refuse to talk to me saying he is not his department manager supposed to call me today I haven’t heard from him yet. I ordered my birthday cake from Classic Bakery and my experience was less than stellar. Despite giving very clear instructions on what kind of cake I wanted, and being reassured multiple times that what I wanted was actually possible, the cake I received was not the cake I ordered. For what it’s worth, the cake itself was okay—a little dry, but that seems to be a common theme in the D.C. area. The frosting and flavors were nice. I got the buttercream. It definitely wasn’t the worst cake I’ve ever had, but it certainly isn’t the best.

Finally I've had the chance to try this place out. I bought 2 kinds of baklava (square and tube) 2 each and 2 walnut bars. I would say that even though the baklavas were small they pack flavor and the walnut bars were not too sweet. I believe that you pay per weight when you buy their mini pastries.

The bakery itself is very clean and nice. But I can’t express how disappointed I was with the wedding cake we requested from them. When we went and ordered the cake we had asked for them to bring a cake stand to put the cake on so the cake could look taller and stand out more. Well, they didn’t bring the stand and the cake didn’t have the look that I had imagined. Also we had asked for them to make a small gluten free cake to bring along with the main cake so I (who has celiac disease) could take part in eating the cake. Well, they forgot that too, and since I wanted to avoid getting sick during my wedding, had to avoid eating a cake that my husband and I had spent almost $1,000 on and I couldn’t take part in my husband feeding me my first bite of cake. It’s just so disappointing since I won’t get that moment back and I wanted my day to be perfect and to eat the most important cake of my life. Every wedding I go to, due to my disease I can never take part in eating the cake and I couldn’t even do it in my own wedding! When we went to the store to let them know what had happened they kind of brushed it off and refunded us for the cake stand. I DO NOT recommend this store for your wedding cake.

Got a chocolate mouse cake for father's day. Paid $42 for a low quality cake that one can buy form any grocery store for half of the price. Had 20 guests and people stopped eating it after the 2nd bite (I felt embarrassed). So 3/4 of it ended in the trash. Classic Bakery, you need to work on your products otherwise you will lose loyal customers like my family! We do love your ice creams, dry pastries and sandwiches and hope there will be a day we can recommend your cakes!

On June 14h I came into classic bakery to pick up my sons birthday cake that I ordered and payed for. There was one older white couple of head of us who was being taken care of but for some reason the other white with an attitude. Totally ignored me and my daughter and not asking us anything went to an India women and help her. I am a black male not looking for problems but to have respect. Quite a surprise location. It looks like a warehouse setting from the outside. However, once you walk in, it is quite nice. Looks very clean and chic. There are variety of baked goods ( didn't get to try this time around but i shall be back). We were there to purchase a birthday cake and they had several on display. Ended up getting the heart- shaped tiramisu cake. They were also able to write a message on the cake very quickly. The cake was VERY delicious. Giving 4 stars since the cake was still slightly frozen and i wish they had told us about it so we knew to leave it at room temp for a while.

Worst service ever. Came on 4/26/19 about a wedding consultation after we called. They told us to come in so we drove all the way to the store. Then they told us we had to schedule it online so we wasted a trip. We ordered a variety of cakes and they were not very good. They look very pretty but taste bad and I would not want to use them for our wedding anyway so it worked out.

Called to place a pick up order for the same day.. They said they had it but there was only one register so i had to wait to actually place my order..they put me on hold but ended up hanging up on me. I called back and the gentlemen didnt apologize till i told him i was calling back since they just hung up on me. After all that i end up finally giving my information for them to call me back... They told me they would call me back when its my turn so i could give them my cc number and so on..THEY NEVER CALLED ME BACK...way to let first time customers down. Good thing about all this is that i had something to talk about once i got to the party i was attending (with no cake)

Went in to look for a cake for my significant other's birthday. They didn't have much on display but the employee was nice to bring some from the back out. I ended up with a cute small mango cake (about 8 inches in diameter) that had some simple chocolate decorations. Well, you would think something pretty would taste good, right? Nope, the cake was dry AF. There was a good mango flavor, but the cake was so dry that it felt like it was scratching my throat every time I swallowed. I usually am not big of a fan for frosting but this particular cake definitely needed more to compensate for the dryness. This definitely made me wonder if the cake was a couple of days old, or if their cakes are generally like that.. Either way, I felt pretty embarrassed to have presented it to our friends. It was not worth the price I paid and I was pretty disappointed with my overall experience.

Their cakes are good, but customer service is horrible. During my last visit I was completely ignored after I asked if someone can help me, I waited for about another 10-15 minutes, but still nobody was willing to help which is just inexplicable because I was the only customer by that time.
