Our entire experience with Cakes and Confections was AMAZING. We used Julianne for our wedding cake and we were SO pleased and many of our guests commented on how "normally wedding cakes are pretty bad, but ours was DELICIOUS". Start to finish... Julianne was so accommodating when we made a last minute request to come in for a cake tasting, and was happy to let one of our bridesmaids tag along at no charge as well. When we saw flavors on the menu that we wanted, but that weren't available that day, Julianne made us special tasting cake sizes so we could "try before we buy" and be confident in our choice! She made the whole process so unbelievably simple and pleasant! We ended up having 3 different flavors (Carrot w/cream cheese icing, Spice w cream cheese icing, and vanilla with chocolate ganache and fresh strawberries) because they were all just too delicious, we couldn't decide. We must have changed the size of the cake 3 times but each time, Julianne always just said "of course!" - even when our final numbers were much lower than we thought and we had to shrink the cake by about 50 servings just 3 weeks before the wedding! I also had trouble finalizing a design, but when I finally did (I think 2 weeks before) Julianne NAILED IT. Lastly, she doesn't like you to freeze her cake, so on your one year anniversary, she makes you a new top tier (free) so you don't have to eat year old frozen cake (we can't wait for this!) HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend! You will not be disappointed with your experience OR your final product! <3

My family and I love Cakes and Confections Gourmet Bakery as a breakfast spot. The breakfast menu is hardy, home cooked, and ready quickly. After breakfast we stare into the bakery case to choose a sweet treat! Micheal & Julianne really seem to enjoy each guest that walks through their doors, they smile as people recall, "You made my wedding cake" or, "I stop by here every time I am in town!".

Love the baked goods here and the owners are so nice and friendly. It is so hard to find a good old fashioned standalone bakery anymore so I appreciate this place and will be back. I've only been once but ordered a variety of things and all were very good. It looked like they also had an area where you could buy sandwiches, etc. Very good place...give it a try

Excellent personalized creative cake. It was a retirement cake for a drug chemist so I wanted it to have fake drugs on top. The baker nailed the design and the cake was moist and the buttercream icing was not overly sweet! Will definitely go back!

Paid the most money I've ever spent on a cake and was not crazy about the outcome. Didn't look professional or anything like the photo they had in store. Colors were different, the items were arranged ackward (was supposed to be a unicorn but the ears were placed like rabbits) the unicorn itself was hand made and looked like something my kids would do with playdoh. The icing wasn't smooth, the eyes were out of proportion. The redeeming factor was that the cake was delicious. However, I will not be returning to this store. A $75 cake that looked like it was closer in professionalism to a $45 cake max, was a big dissapointment.

Got a cake last minute, got the marble cake with whipped frosting. It was very good family ate it up. We also got a mixed pastries for breakfast, those were all very good. Probably one of the better bakeries in the area. It's always good to support local bakeries over the big grocery chains.

Oh boy!...stopped by today to check on a couple of items for ordering in near future. Bought chocolate chip cookies & a slice of key lime pie....wow!...sooo deliciously yummy. I will say THE BEST chocolate chip cookies from a bakery I have ever enjoyed. Yes, they were perfect. ❤ And the key lime pie -- absolutely wonderful ❤. Highly recommended bakery.

I can't believe that people are raving about their cakes. I wonder if some of these reviews are authentic, not self review! That's why I stopped looking at reviews anymore. I bought an almond b'day cake per their recommendation. It was very dry, unfluffy, and it tastes like too cough syrupy and greasy. I eat enough high quality cakes to tell that it was very low quality ingredients. In summery, being a consummate cake lover, I threw the whole cake without taking a 2nd bite. A total bakery fraud in review and waste of my $30! Pls save your money & the sorely bitter taste!

I stopped by Cakes and Confections on the way home from church today and picked up a couple cupcakes and a cookie for a treat. The red velvet cake was moist but lacking a lot of cocoa flavor. The frosting was heavy, although very flavorful, so I ended up tasting mostly the frosting and not a lot of cake with each bite. I think they could probably just have the one layer of cream cheese frosting and leave off the top layer of vanilla buttercream. My husband had a chocolate cupcake and said it was good and chocolately, but a little dry. Overall, the cupcakes were definitely better than what you would buy in a grocery store or market, and at only $2 a piece you really can't go wrong. We will definitely be going back. The key lime pie looked amazing.

This place is a hidden gem. Needed to make a last minute cupcake purchase for a get together and not only were the cupcakes delicious, the breakfast quiche was wonderful as well! The owners/staff are down to earth and very friendly. It doesn't get any better than this; if you haven't checked out C&C for breakfast, lunch or dessert- you're missing out! Highly recommend!

I love Cakes & Confections! They were highly recommended to me by a well known caterer and I'm so glad I contacted them. I have had several very special cakes designed and baked by them including my mother's 90th birthday, a gorgeous beach-themed bridal shower cake and a show stopping baby grand piano cake for my sister who's a pianist. Not only were they all breathtaking, they were absolutely delicious! I'm a big fan of the marquis cake and any variations thereof. I will be ordering a gender reveal cake for my grandchild-to-be and also my niece's bridal shower cake. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. The whipped cream and cherry on top is all of the staff - the owners are awesome and friendly and their staff is helpful and friendly as well. If you want something special, spectacular and a treat for your taste buds, this is the place!

This place is a wonderful, friendly neighborhood bakery, and the bakers really know their stuff. We ordered a cake for a birthday. Everyone loved it! The frosting was creamy, the cake smooth and moist, and the ganache layers rich and devine. None of it was too sweet. They got it ‘just right’. The decoration was perfect and they perfectly placed the image from a photo I had sent them. The eclairs are sublime as well.

Wow! Spent $21 dollars for a lemon meringue pie. I love me some lemon meringue pie. What a disappointment. I feel the pie was under cooked. The lemon part was creamy, not like a gel. Also it didn't seem mixed all the way, it was grainy. Ended up giving the pie away and buying one from giant for $7 dollars. Never again.

Cakes and Confections is the best bakery in Anne Arundel County. They have baked two special cakes for me in the last few years. One was for my fortieth birthday party in Annapolis. More significantly, they just created a gender reveal cake for an intimate gathering at my home. They did a perfect job on the "blue" icing. The owners are friendly and make the process to order cakes so easy. And, fyi, their peach muffins are phenomenal!

Trash Tier pie. Literally the worst apple pie I have ever had. So bad in fact my 4 kids didn't even like it. This hot garbage was $18.99 and a pie from a grocery store for ~$6 would have had more flavor. Strongly recommend that you stay away.
