Mother's Day for breakfast? Couldn't have a better one. Service was more than outstanding, and the food was great. Eggs Bene on their homemade english? Coffee was hot and always refilled. How fine! I couldn't leave without a few extras- the cinnamon roll was exquisite. Raspberry muffin was an elegant addition to next morning tea...All mums were given this lovely raspberry filled cookie. How sweet!

We came here because we needed to be in Cumberland and I wanted to try a local place. As I started perusing the menu, I nearly swallowed my tongue at the prices. Not only were the base prices high, but lots of options were expensive; sometimes in a way out of sorts with the rest of the menu. However, we've had breakfast before that justified the price. Perhaps this place was going to blow our socks off with culinary perfection!? Nope... Coffee was weak, potatoes were tasteless, and the French Toast was definitely missing something. I want to say the bread needed more salt. Don't get me wrong... the food wasn't bad or unenjoyable. It simply did not justify the price and thus I give it a 2. $18/person for breakfast better blow my socks off and this didn't come close.

This is by far the best diner in the United States. Why? Because it's a simple home town local diner straight out of American's glorious diner past. Home cooked food made before your eyes, local Mainah's gathering and dining in simple pleasure. The food is great greasy spoon classics and the bottomless hot coffee is always at hand. Lines form out the door on weekends, so come early. Stones is the Best.

Cyriac E

Warm, friendly, great home cooked food.

This place is amazing. Go experience it for yourself. I pass this quaint little place all the time and finally stopped in for my 1st time today. I only got coffee and a giant, sweet, fluffy cinnamon roll but I'll definitely be back to sit down and try more food. Great spot for singles, couples or families. Strong scene of community.

Havatselet K

Delicious breakfast (homemade corned beef hash, freshly baked bread, perfectly cooked eggs), great coffee (flavor: Jamaican Me Crazy!), plus an outstanding "breakfast dessert" (shared a slice of warm, homemade mixed-berry pie and a Bacon-Molasses cookie)... Add to that a super friendly and helpful server, and that equals a very lovely experience all-around. Will definitely return next time I'm in town!

Great little restaurant serving traditional breakfast all day with some really good gluten free bread. Lunch time is good with plenty of options and home baked goods. A favorite for my family

Greg Choquette

Great food, fun atmosphere, kid friendly.

donjaime23 .

The mainstay diner of the Cumberland/North Yarmouth area. On weekends you'll easily wait 15+ minutes for a table. The service isn't as quick as it used to be. The food is consistently good.

Kipp Vermeulen

We really wanted to love this place. Friendly staff and they have a small kids play area in the corner. Unfortunately the food is average, our cinnamon bun was dry, home fries bland and the rest of the breakfast nothing special. If that was all, we could have accepted it as just an average cafe and been okay. However, when we got the bill we were taken aback. Clearly we missed the fine print on the menu, but $2.25 for each serving of maple syrup... really. Again, we really wanted to love this place as we'd heard great things and aren't snobby foodies. But the food wasn't what we expected and the high prices make it hard to think about returning or recommending. I hope it can make some tweaks and become a local gem.

R Boday

Amazing food, friendly staff, play area for kids - this place is often packed for good reason.

I am from out of town and frequented Stones several times while my son was playing football at Colby. It's been a few years since I have been in, and I was not disappointed! Everything was exceptional. I was happy to see the old owners returned. I can't wait to come back!

Phillip Schotte

The sweet and spicy bacon will change your life! Large portions at a decent price.

Olivia Whitehouse

The food was really great but unfortunately the service wasn't as great. Our waitress forgot to put our order in and realized only after we had been waiting for 30 minutes. Thankfully we did get our food quickly after that, but once we were finished we sat there for a while waiting for our plates to be cleared and for the check. Our waitress finally came over and asked if we were ready for the check, we said yes and watched another tables check go to them, watched the waitress take someone else's orders, and start cleaning tables as they were closing shortly. All during this ten minute span, still we did not receive our check. So finally we went up to the counter and asked to pay, advising that we hadn't gotten our bill yet. As soon as we stood up our same waitress immediately started clearing our table, just really disappointing service. The food both times we have been was absolutely incredible but unfortunatley service like we received today makes it hard to want to go back.

Diane Stults

Love, love, love this restaurant! This used to be our favorite place but then they changed owners and it went downhill. The original owners are back and they're even planning on bringing back some of my favorites. All their breads and muffins are homemade! They're homemade granola is fondly referred to as "crack"...yes, it's really that good! Definitely check out this place soon! They're planning an incredible Valentines Day brunch that looks amazing! I can't wait to come back.

All the food way delicious n great service too

Ronald Tinkham

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Arrived about 11:45, not very busy. Sat right down and ordered. Took 45-50 min for us to get our SANDWICHES. Sodas were in cans. Chips were in small bags. Shortly after we arrived, two ladies sat behind us. They got their lunch as we were leaving, over an hour after they arrived. Slowest service I have ever had. It was a simple sandwich.

The breakfast of all Mediterranean omelette done to perfection

This place is great breakfast place that has changed hands several times over the last several years but the food and service remain solid staple to Stone’s I find the prices to be a little higher than average for serving mainly breakfast. Stones is always busy because of the food and the service can be a bit slow. If you’re in a hurry on the weekend be prepared for a wait for a table and again to get your meal. I also find it pretty loud here. But all things considered a great place for delicious breakfast!

Stacy Pobatschnig

Molasses donuts! A very old fashioned New England specialty but I had only ever tried apple cider donuts before trying molasses ones here. They taste a little like a molasses cookie -- a real treat. They just renovated and the place looks great. Good value for the money.

Great food! Great people! My go-to spot for an awesome breakfast....no pressure, free refills on coffee and the daily paper. Always makes a great day!!!

Stuart Baybutt

If your’re traveling through the North Yarmouth area this is a must try place for breakfast. They have a wide selection of traditional diner and New England breakfasts. Their berry French toast is a must try and their Irish eggs benidict with their homemade hash is perfectly composed and complete with their gooey yolked sunny side up cooked eggs. If you happen to be traveling through this area or live locally close to North Yarmouth this area I would highly recommended Stones Cafe.

Jason Ahearn

Amazing food friendly atmosphere and if you looking for real biscuits and gravy this is the spot

Carole Small

Food was good but service wasnt ordered a soda didnt get it but was on the bill but they did take it off didnt get silverware, napkin or straw till we asked for them

Leslie Fay

First of the coffee and our server were terrific! Unfortunately they have changed the seating to no longer accommodate larger parties. We were placed in a corner booth, 3 adults and 3 children and this was cramped at best! I am visiting from out of town for Mother’s Day and we have always had a great experience here but with the new seating is was not at all pleasant! I spoke with the manager and she said she appreciates feedback! As a side note the Eggs Benedict’s Sauce was separated and my home fries and eggs were cold. I am hoping this was just a one off situation but I must say with the new seating options we will not be back! Full disclosure: The manager apologized about the food and said she would pass on the information to her boss etc! I feel I wasted my $60. I am truly sorry this happened!

The food here is AMAZING! The eggs Benedict was by far the best I’ve tasted. The biscuits are homemade while everything we ate tasted so fresh. Our waitress was on top of her game and did a fabulous job. We grabbed some homemade cookies for the road and those Molasses cookies are dangerous! It was a cozy, quaint restaurant that made you feel like you were at grandmas house. The place was immaculate and everyone was welcoming.

ron goodwin

Excellent little place to grab breakfast. The staff is always friendly and the food is always good

Scott Strout

We had a wonderful valentine's breakfast and the dinner even though closed stayed open to serve us..

Dorothea Labriesites

Love Stones for breakfast! The hash and benedicts are favorites, but the omelettes are good too. They have a play area for kids, which is great. We probably go once a month.

Mindy G

Food is okay, service is very slow.

Devin Harrington

It's a typical breakfast. If you're looking for an inspired and refreshing breakfast, you should skip the kitchen food and go straight for the baked goods. It's where Stones really shines. They didn't really season the potatoes, which was disappointing because they looked amazing- there was some turmeric or some other spice that made them a delightful yellow color, but that didn't translate to any change in flavor. We did go on a very busy morning so maybe that played a roll. They aren't bad, but they're not great.

Roxanne Gagne

Food was delicious... they were busy but we only waited 15 minutes for a table, however, we waited 40 minutes for our food. We've been to many cafes that were as busy and never waited this long, especially for a party of 2.

Azulea Cormu

Wait staff were nice and welcoming, but the homefries were undercooked, and not in a "I forgot to order them crispy" way. My pancakes were also suuuuuper dry. It was like instead of pancake mix they just got sand from the Sahara and tossed that in the mixing bowl instead. Was pretty disappointed considering the price.

Best food and customer service I have had in a diner in quite some time. Food was well prepared, cooked just right, and had just enough of a twist on the average short-order food to be interesting and very tasty. Can't think of a better place to eat in Maine, though it is somewhat out of the way.

Lynn Boardway

Lovely staff and amazing food. Very family friendly.

Excellent out of the way diner, food was very good, waitresses and even a regular helped us with our plans for the day. Hash at its finest. All the meals we had there we very good. The cookies and sticky buns were very good also. Everyone raved about the bacon fat molasses especially, although all of them were excellent.

Chelsea Chancellor

Visiting from Virginia and brought here from my friends who live in Gray. The biscuits are amazing, the blueberry french toast is amazing, the iced coffee is AMAZING. I literally wanted to eat my way through the menu. It's a must go!
