Racist. I have ordered many cakes from here. However the last time, I was dressed the most comfortable of all the times. There were two customers ahead of me, my cakes were already ordered and half paid for. No one asked me anything until 25 min later. Then after being asked to pay remaining balance, was left for an additional 12 min a front counter without any word as to why. I then picked my card up off the counter and left without my daughters cake her first birthday celebration ever. Ruined thanks to Swiss Cofectionery. They get your deposit money and if you are man of color you will be ignored, until maybe white family comes in behind you. Then further delayed. My wife picked this place. Never again.

On Sunday, I had the opportunity to give back to my community to help a lil girl celebrate her sweet 16. Swiss, did not disappoint! I was very interested in this bakery for my wedding because it came highly recommended, but I can tell you that I have cancelled my tasting session with them due to their complete lack of customer service. I have worked as a hotel concierge and in other aspects of customer service and I know the wedding business can be a stressful one. However...I was told a few months ago that I could avoid a $75 delivery fee if my cake could be delivered before 4 p.m. at my venue in New Orleans. Then when I spoke to them this week I was told the policy had been changed to before 3 p.m. As I was trying to negotiate some agreeable terms, explaining to them I was on a limited budget, I was told that if they had just rolled the delivery fee in with the cost of the cake "I would never have noticed" the additional charge. If that wasn't rude enough, I was told that they are very busy and "don't have a lot of time to talk on the phone." Well, unfortunately since there is no email address listed on the website and I live out of state, my options are pretty limited in that regard. Obviously they are not interested in out-of-town business and would prefer to cater to only local clientele. I don't know how delicious their cake may be; their bad attitude has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Was super excited about my Aunt’s 60th birthday and ordered this cake several weeks prior. I drove all the way from TN for the world’s driest cake ever! It was beautifully decorated and the customer service was very nice, but I will never order from them again. When the guest of honor asks for a glass of milk to eat a piece of cake you know it’s bad. Everyone who tried it commented how dry it was and asked how long ago was the cake made? My search continues to find a decent bakery for special occasions in Nola cause this one wasn’t it.

I ordered a cake over the phone three weeks in advance of when I needed it. I was asked to email the bakery with specific instructions for the design. After I emailed I thought everything was moving forward, However, the day before I needed the cake I got a message informing me that the cake order had not been finalized three weeks prior. Since I got to the message in the evening, it was to late to do anything. the next day I asked if there was any way to "pinch hit" expecting that they might have some sort of cake they could sell me in place of the one I had ordered, but no accommodation was made or offered. This is a bummer, because I heard the cake is supposed to be good, but my rating is based on their communication and service.

We knew we wants to use Swiss from the beginning, it was only a matter of tasting their cakes, fillings, and how we wanted it to look! We went in for a cake tasting, choose traditional with a strawberry filling and we were NOT disappointed. The service during the cake tasting wasn't the best, as we waiting around for a while, but our service with them after that was fine. And the cake was delicious! We also weren't big on having a cake topper, so they created a beautiful gold bow made of fondant to go on top. They incorporated gold ribbon we wanted as well, which we purchased from Michaels. Our cake was perfect for our 150 guests!

Really bad quality cake for such an expensive price.I wish to give this review no stars. The decorations were poorly made and they looked last minute and the cake crumbled and they want to charge over 200 dollars for a cake like that? Come on! A cake from Walmart would've been better. The filling was so poorly made too. We wanted pineapple and raspberry. What did we get? BUTTERCREAM with a sliver of pineapple and raspberry. Not once did we say we wanted a buttercream filling. They really aren't open to new suggestions either. This cake was such an embarrassment decoration wise and texture wise. Our friends and family did not enjoy the cake and we didn't either. And if you aren't satisfied, don't bother asking for monetary compensation because they think they make the best cakes. Arrogant people. We're extremely disappointed.

I am maid of honor in an upcoming wedding. The bride and I went in for a cake tasting this past Saturday. The bride’s cake was dry and stale, with almost no icing or filling. When we asked if the tasting cake was fresh, they told us that “almond cake is dense, so it’s supposed to be dry.” Unfortunately, the bride is also a chef at a fine dining restaurant in the CBD, so she was incredulous at the crumbling cake on her plate. On our way out, they tried to give us a mini cake to try, which was considerably better. However, we were concerned about the inconsistent quality between the tasting cake and the “for sale” cake we received. Also, we noticed a large number of their portfolio photos were from Pinterest, and didn’t appear to be actual cakes they produced. We mentioned we had a credit as part of a wedding banquet package, and after that, when we asked about pricing for different size cakes, they acted like we couldn’t afford an extra $100 for a bigger cake, which was insulting. A business should never make assumptions about your budget, or be condescending when a customer mentions they have a cake credit to redeem from a partnership the bakery agreed to. Would you trust a bakery that can’t serve a quality tasting cake every time with making your wedding cake? A bakery that acted like you couldn’t afford them, like you’re wasting their time? I’ve had better almond cake from Rouses.

A beautiful experience from a phone order 1300 miles away. The delivery was seamless. The first peek of the cake was exactly as envisioned. We decorated this masterpiece of a cake with red and fuchsia carnations. Just a spectacular presentation upon cutting our almond cake with raspberry filling. Rave reviews from wedding guests. Let me start on a positive note. At least they have a website now. For the longest time, they didn't have one. But the site doesn't list three of the most important items: sizes, cost, and flavors. That's a big negative in my book. However, I was informed by native New Orleanians this is THE place in New Orleans to get your wedding cake made. So the store acts like almost like they don't really want or need your silly birthday cake order and are just humoring you by taking your order. If you are a Seinfeld fan, this store is the equivalent of the "Soup Nazi." If you were to see the store from the outside, you'd wonder if it was still in business. When you go inside, the shop is poorly lit. They have old display cases, which is fine as there are usually only a few items in there anyway. If you are going to place an order, either in person or on the phone, you better know what you want. If you don't, you can ask about their cake flavors. If you are there in person, you will get a menu along with an eye-roll and a huff. If you are calling an order in, you will be made to feel as if you are interrupting them from doing something important. However, if your cake is that good, you can be rude and still have repeat business. I guess that’s true for this shop. My colleagues and I tried their German Chocolate three years ago and it was excellent. But it’s not cheap. A colleague ordered a doberge cake for her birthday last year and it was $80. The taste was great though. The smallest cake they make is a 9" cake, so that’s what I ordered for my birthday and it was $49. These are not cheap cakes and they don’t skimp on ingredients. The icing roses were nothing special but the flavor of the cake made up for it. Last year we used a different bakery who had a pretty good German Chocolate cake, and we all liked it. But we all agreed that we liked the Swiss Confectionery's version of the German Chocolate the best. So if you don't mind the attitude that comes with the cake, I recommend the German Chocolate cake.

25 years ago Swiss did our wedding cake. Perfect. A year later the top tier thawed was as tasty as that first bite. Today called them to order a 25th. The process was every bit as sweet as our wedding cake.
