Love
Absolutely the best French bread around. The baked goods are always excellent. You can't go wrong with Poupart's, a true Lafayette tradition.
My favorite bakery in Louisiana, by far! I always have to stop at their bread and homemade preserves sample display. It reminds of breakfast at my grandmother's house in Luxembourg. Very authentic French bakery.
Beyond the words of excellent
A slice of Paris in Acadiana. Amazing bakery with a friendly and helpful staff.
We had lunch at Poupart's today. Daily special absolutely great. Fabulous spinach and shrimp soup, plus shrimp sandwich with lots of fresh shrimps. Every day they have a different, and interesting special. Strongly recommended.
My go to spot for pastries, French macaroons ($1.25 each), French cheesecake, etc. Whenever I'm in Lafayette, La. When I arrived they had just pulled from oven a pear tart and apple tart. Everything is fresh.
The pastries are soft, sweet and fresh if you're there early in the morning!
This bakery is hands down, one of the best I've ever been to. We had to try the King cake and it was delicious! The customer service was nice too.
Been coming here since '82. Wonderful pastries, cakes, pies, bread... The whole family looks forward to breakfast here every time we come home to Lafayette!
very good
Great coffee, pastries, lovely people.
Pouparts has some of the tastiest sweets in town! During my last visit I purchased a loaf of their freshly made Ciabatta bread and it was fantastic! Made fresh and sliced for us to take home. I highly recommend them!
We were here in June. It was fantastic!
It used to be a great place, but I asked for a Napoleon, which they used to carry, and the girl showed me a napolitain...not even close.
Pouparts is a great bakery. The French Cheesecake is to die for!! Definitely cant go wrong with getting a sweet dessert to share with your loved ones when buying from her. The service is friendly.
Love there Double chocolate doberge cake and their lemon pies and everything else but those are my favorite
A bakery that has more than just sweet treats. Deliciousness!!!
Too sweet
Don’t miss this place. Great quality and quantity of pastries, breads, jams and too many cakes. We had a large volume of goodies and the French cheese was beautiful, just smooth, flavorful and yummy. This is quality food. Next time I’ll try their chicken salad with some different bread.
Shipping information on website is misleading. I ordered a Kingcake... well before the 10:00AM cutoff on a Wednesday morning which, by their website, should have been overnighted the same day and I should have received it Thursday.... I saw that it was not mailed until Thursday....I called to inquire as to why (very nicely) and lady who answered the phone just hung up in my face without any explanation. So in my experience no matter what time you order, it wont be shipped until the next day which is not what the website advertises.
Amazing pastries and cakes!
Great coffee and delicious desserts! Will be back to try their baked bread. The staff were so kind.
Good breakfast! And bakery!
Great breads and the flavor stands out regardless of how you're using them.
Just not anything special. Worst raisins bread ever. Not even sliced
Was actually extremely disappointing. Food was meh, place was dirty and dark, and the staff wasnt friendly.
So many excellent pastries. Get yourself a dubosh cake...you'll love it.
I've literally been coming here since I was a little girl. Try the ham and cheese croissant. Try a lot of their food.
I ordered lunch for my father on his birthday from Poupart’s through waitr. The driver arrived to pick up my order that wasn’t made because “the cook left early”. Instead of anyone calling to tell me they were out of the item listed as available online, they rejected the order and did not contact me, or offer a different menu item. My dad waited for a lunch that never arrived on his birthday.
I throughly enjoyed their pastries. The authentic French taste is hard to beat.
Love Pouparts. Woderful, magical delights and you can meet locals.
I stopped by for breakfast and grabbed a pre-made sandwich (which was delicious) and snagged a pecan roll on a recommendation and couldn't get enough! I went back for lunch and had a toasted sandwich. Again, delicious! I will make sure to stop by again (maybe tomorrow.) There is such a large selection of bread and sweet treats that I have trouble deciding what to choose. They also have some jars of jellies, some cheeses and other items. They have some tables to eat there or you can take it out.
We only came for the beignets, and I kindof expected more. They tasted more like donuts than what we had in New Orleans. But the rest of the place was amazing, what a wide variety of pastries and breads, a true patisserie! We sat in the sunshine at tables outside to enjoy our coffee and treats. Well priced and prompt staff.
Excellent pastries!
Family favorite s ince 1966.
I have spent the last year traveling North America, sampling baked goods in many locations along the way. Poupart's Bakery is by far my favorite bakery. Everything I & my family had was fresh and tasty and the prices were fantastic. We had cookies, creme brule, and a variety of cake slices and all were excellent. I would definitely visit again.
Huge delicious unique selection and great hours! Friendly service too
Amazing!!! I don't live in the area but I will be back as often as I can.
This bakery is truly a gem - I recommend hitting them up early on Saturday or Sunday for some of their mini quiches, pain au chocolat or almond croissants (sometimes, when it's busy, they may run out of a few things... but don't worry - you can try again the next weekend ;-) ). If you feel like indulging, order one of their large quiche Lorraine's ahead of time and take that home for brunch - pair it up with some mimosas, some good company and you'll have the recipe for a perfect weekend brunch!
One of the best local bakery's in town. Everything is very tasty from sweets, cakes, bread, and Jalapeno bread. This bakery is local and family owned. Also, make sure to try out the breakfast items starting at 7 AM during the week days (pastries, quiche, etc).
Love the bread - awesome Lafayette staple
Love this place. Even tho this is my family. The service is always great. Owners and staff always friendly. Where else can you go to get the best authentic French bread made by real French people.
Not just a bakery. They have a little bit of everything. We had their cake and sweet treats. Probably the best cake i've ever had!
Great atmosphere with unique and delicious cuisine offerings!
Clean . Decent prices. Beautiful looking foods. Nice selection and very good tasting. Go check them out
Best bakery in Lafayette.
Some of the best pastry I've seen in years
Unique Danish pastries and tarts.
I wish there was a star less than one because that would be my rating. My birthday cake was dry and the filling was chunky and slimy. The icing was buttercream instead of whipped and wasn't the right color. It didn't even have my name on it like it was ordered! Will NOT ask for a cake from here EVER again!
Great local bakery with an authentic European feel. Specializes in dobage cakes.
baklava was phenomenal
The most amazing bakery I’ve ever been to!
Good desert
Oh my eating here is an experience. You will want to go early before everything is gone.
Corn and crab soup was great! Can't wait to go back
The portions are a little bit small for some of the items like they're quiches so they're there for a little bit pricey. The rest of the food and desserts are excellent.
I purchased my grandson a birthday cake on the 26th of February. His name is Landon. When I got to Texas with the cake and opened it up; the name was wrong. They had written Chad on the cake. I called them but the manager wasn't there. The person I spoke with didn't really seem to know what to do. I left my name and phone number but I haven't heard from them. Today is March 11th. I was really surprised that no one bothered to follow up. For a such a prestigious bakery, whose customer service is supposed to be top notch, I am disappointed. I will not be ordering or purchasing anything from this bakery again AngelaS.
Awesome macaroons and everything else a bakery should have.
Everything's top-notch. Get the fig pockets.
I loveeeeee the eclairs I recommend them. Yummmm
Great place for pasteries and bread. Will definitely come back when I'm in town.
One of our favorite things to do when traveling is try local bakeries. This is by far one of our all time favorites
Always something tasty waiting for you. Prices are a little bit higher but so are the quality of their tasty treats.
Extremely welcoming and friendly, bought 2 different types of King Cakes, absolutely delicious.
All the pastries I purchased were fresh and delicious
DO NOT order a cake from this place! I ordered a cake for my wife's birthday and it was garbage. Literal garbage. We hardly ate any of it before we through the whole thing away. First of all, when I walked in, the young girl behind the counter seemed busy with something even though I was the only one in the shop. So I waited to be acknowledged so I could place my order. She turned around and stared at me for a moment before finally asking in a rude tone "do you need something"? The last time I ordered a cake here, I was given a form to fill out so I could write down everything I wanted on the cake. Not this time. The girl asked me what I wanted and wrote it down herself. So, I ordered a white cake with a cream layer, with purple whipped icing, and the words "happy birthday (hername)" in darker purple icing. I was told it would be ready the next day. When I received the cake it was white buttercream, and her name was left off. The cake itself was very dry and seemed old, like it had been made days ago before I ever even placed the order. The cream was slimy and had a strange consistency. The cake was barely edible. I picked it up on her birthday, so I couldn't tell them it was wrong because then my wife wouldn't have had a birthday cake! All I knew when I picked it up was that the colors were wrong and her name was left off. I didn't find out until I got home that the ENTIRE CAKE WAS GARBAGE. My wife's birthday was ruined. Thank you very much Poupart Bakery. I will NEVER be ordering another cake from here again.
Raspberry white chocolate cookies. Good stuff. Nuff said.
Great variety of tasty pastries at a good price and a friendly staff. Great morning stop for breakfast.
Almost every year I order at least one King Cake from a Louisiana bakery or local store to ship to family living out of state. This year was the first year I ordered from Poupart Bakery and will likely be the last. I ordered a King Cake for shipment to Canada from Poupart's because I read good reviews, and indications online stated they'd ship internationally. I received order confirmation number and selected delivery date with no troubles. On the day of expected arrival (Feb 2) no King Cake was there, and the evening of the 3rd - after giving another day for delivery and nothing - I emailed the bakery asking for a tracking number or update on shipping status. I have gotten no response. I know international shipping may take longer than usual, but this order was placed January 19 for February delivery, and company indicated this was something they could accommodate. Initially, my intent was to order 3 cakes from them next year- 2 traditional French style cakes and one of the local favorite ring shaped cakes to have one shipped to Canada, one to California and one for my local family. This was the only bakery that I've seen with La Galette des Rois so I was intending to change things up from my usual shipment next year and treat the relatives to something different. Now, I'm thinking I'll have to settle for this company not giving a concern about taking my money without delivering a product, make the traditional cakes myself and order other cake from a company like Sucre or Randazzo's in New Orleans. I haven't had any trouble getting my orders shipped from them in the past. I wish I had something good to say, but I don't.
Wow! What a great Bakery. Nice selection. Great service. Of course the best part of the visit was the sweet treats!! If you havn't been here before, I highly recommend that you stop by and look around. Tell me if I'm wrong
This was the best French pattisere in Louisiana. It's so-so now. Starting good, but not worth a drive from Baton Rouge.
The selection, design and flavor are exceptional. I stop in at bakeries all over the country. Poupart’s is the best.
Wonderful doberge cake and great frozen soups!
Best Bakery much less Lafayette's only French Patisserie! It is must & put in on your bucket list when you are in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Way toooooo expensive !!!
Love their Danish.
Great bakery
Great selection of deserts
To expesive and not that good ive had better to dry
I've been going here since I was a little girl, & they never disappoint with their array of sweets, breads, & lovely lunches. Their iced coffee is excellent, too! It has just the right amount of milk & sugar.
This place has it all great pastry and bread. And a small cafe -not to be missed.
A real bakery with real food. While the sandwich selection isn't huge, they are all quite delicious. I recommend the fench dip!
Love this place
Best Quiche EVER!! That includes Paris, France! LIght, filled with yummy things. Not too wet and not dry. Don't know how the chef does it. I had the last piece of shrimp quiche and my husband had the bacon/mushroom. MIne was filled with yummy, sweet shrimp and veggies. Husband's had lots of bacony goodness. The crab bisque was excellent. We bought a rum cake and didn't know that it had too much rum (!?!) for our cousin to share at work! We will return here on our next visit from Seattle. Thank you, thank you for a lovely brunch.
Mardi grass pound cake is delicious
Tasty French pastry and artisan bread
Variety of baked goods, sweets, fresh breads, and several locally produced goodies (pepper jellies, jams, etc). Fast service.
Great place for breakfast/ brunch
Delicious sweets at this bakery.
Just one word...YUMMY...
I loved the ambiance but because I have been spoiled by Randazzo I would need to revisit to figure out what my fave is. The King Cakes were good. I’m not well versed in authentic French Pastry but multicultural French Pastry
There are so many delectible desserts, it is hard to decide on just one! Poupart's is a family favorite and a tradition!
The Crawfish Pies are amazing, as is everything else.
I have no complaints when it comes to everything that I've tried so far from here. All of the pastries/cookies have been extremely good and are very reasonably priced. They have a very big selection ranging from sweet to savory. They offer jellies and jams and pickled vegetables. My service experiences with the staff so far have been good. My biggest complaint would have to be the way that this place is set up. They are obviously busy and when it gets overcrowded it's awkward to move around people and it is not very handicap friendly I would imagine for someone in a wheelchair. The cash registers are in an awkward place all the way in the back. The coffee area is hard to get to and it's in an awkward place. If they did a little bit of rearranging it might be a more viable situation.
Nothing else like it in Louisiana.
Excellent eatery. The King Cake is definitely a pitting contender in the high-ranking echelon of the category. Won't go wrong eating at Poupart.
The sweets were not like they were made there some of the sweets were stale tasting guess if you leave the sweets there long enough some fool like me will think they are freshly made fooled me once but never again
I'm still in shock from what happened today. Cake I ordered for a birthday party was put down for a wrong date that does not even exist. Stuck having to find a cake for 20 people in less than 2 hours.
DELICIOUS place !!! They serve lunches. They have the most delicious breads, cookies, cakes and other pastries. Their doberge cake was fabulous !!! You can't go wrong with any thing you get here !
Always wonderful
This is a fabulous bakery. The items were all great. There was a range of items from which one could select anything to enjoy. The people were fantastic. All in all, a great experience.
A wonderful place
Did not go to Poupart Bakery.
Bread baked fresh every day
This bakery is so wonderful!!! REAL french bread, great lunchtime sandwiches, incredible desserts, homemade preserves that really taste like they're supposed to.... what's not to love about this Lafayette landmark? Everything they do is spot on excellent!
Love the cakes they taste great
Amazing per usual
Their baked goods have gotten a face left! I like that they've kept the quality of their products while giving their sweets a more contemporary look
Absolutely fantastic!
Really disappointed. We ordered the King Cake for $59.99 and it looks nothing like the picture. It is a puny poorly decorated pastry. 10 inches by 6 inches. Splashed on glaze with a few sprinkles. We are ashamed to serve it to company. We are having a Mardi Gras party and now my wife is going to make the King Cake from scratch. I would like to post the picture of this so called cake but I can’t figure out how to do that on this website.
They're pastries are delicious
The cake decorator did an amazing job on my daughter's cake. The staff are friendly and give excellent customer service. My daughter got exactly what she asked for and it tasted great!
Best French bakery in town, with real baguette (artisan) and delicious ciabatta!
I moved from Wisconsin..5 days ago. My first stop was this authentic and superb bakery. Do not pass this gem by!!!!! Tres magnificent!!!
Great selection ,very nice personal ,go there,
Outstanding pastries and service.
Mini dobash are cute and easy to taste all the flavors. Also very useful if you have confusion in choosing your big cake. Every item is fresh.
This should be a destination to travelers ! It is the most amazing bakery. The bread is the best and there is a huge variety of different kinds of pastry. Forget the calories once and indulge in this heavenly place !! It should not be missed if you are passing through.
Mmmmmmm
The mini-Dobash cakes are exciting, local. unique and tasty.
This place is a joke, and not in a good way. The “pastries” - and I’m using that word lightly — are overworked and tough, and entirely too sweet. But what really makes this place the worst is the service, or rather, the lack there of. Last weekend I went in and purchased some cookies. It’s hard to mess up cookies, so I figured I was playing it safe. Ha. Should have known better. Leave it to Poupart’s to get cookies wrong. So stale and disgusting that I threw them away. Today I go in and tell them about my experience with the stale cookies. Do they offer my money back? No. Do they offer to replace the thrown out cookies? No. Nothing. Just surly looks. From now on I’ll be driving across town to go to Zuhauss Bakery - the only actual bakery in Lafayette. Not only are their baked goods a million times better, they have a wonderful friendly staff.
Great pastries and bread. Bought a loaf of Raisin and one of Brioche along with a couple of eclairs. This is an old world style French bakery. If you're looking for some ultra-modern spot this isn't for you. It has been here for years and will be for years to come.
It was pretty good, no complaints, mostly pastries and sweets with a few other things to choose out of
You gotta try something from Poupart Bakery. It's one of the best bakeries around that still has authentic french recipes. If you don't have much of a sweet tooth, you gotta get there early for the fresh amazing breakfast sandwiches. They are very limited. First come fist serve basis.
Excellent tarts. They replaced the one bad item we purchased with no arguments.
I can honestly say that I have never been to Poupart's Bakery. How can I leave a 5 star review then? well I've lived in this area 20 years and have had their pasties and cakes delivered and catered and gifted to so many different events and I don't think I can recall a single one that I didn't enjoy, I've had king cake that is moist and true to tradition, I've had cookies and tarts, cupcakes, and sweet breads. All of it was incredible. Most memorably at my last job one of my co-workers stopped in and grabbed a fresh king cake that was still warm when it got to work, probably my most enjoyable sweet bread that wasn't full on donut. Incredible work here, keep it up. If the review helped, please leave a like :)
Great selection and huge variety of sweets and treats.
I was here as part of a food tour. We tried the King Cake. It was delicious. The other pastries were beautiful.
The best bakery in the world!!!! I can't visit my kids here without coming here. For breakfast, lunch or to purchase bread, incredible pastries, and unbelievable cakes. Amazing bakery! I love everyone in there too..they are all so happy and wonderful.
We ordered a bday cake..the cake was perfect as per we ordered..very professional..cake tasted amazing...and the price was also reasonable...
Hella good french bread!!!!
Biscuits are excellent. My father-in-law drives to Lafayette weekly and always brings us a dozen- they never go bad. We use them for dinner, breakfast sandwiches and for a snack or treat. Kingcakes are also very good.

The very freshest French bread and pastries you'll find in Louisiana!! It a "must" if you're passing through Lafayette!!
My friend had poorboy loaf(s) and the smaller sandwich bread loaf shipped overnite to me, I was so excited, wasn't ONE BIT better than bread at Walmart. Never again!
Traditional French bakery. They have a great variety of cakes, pies, pastries and treats. They also sell soups, jams, preserves, and various breads. I'm sure there's more but you'll have to take a look for yourself. If you get there early enough, order a kouiamon. You won't be sorry.
Absolutely, wonderful bakery with so much to choose from. Priceier than a grocers baked goods. Premium price for premium taste.
Service and selection out of this world!
The deserts are awesome here. The kids loved it.
Great quality, authentic French Baking, reasonable pricing worth the trip!
Fantastic and authentic french and Italian pastries. A sign says they ship their cakes anywhere (in the US I believe). Eclairs, beignets, and egg sandwiches were all delicious in 2017. Came back in 2018 and also got a mini mouse, bear claw, danish, petit four, eclair, Chocolate mousse with passion fruit, and a rum cake. Beignets are on the far left in the box. Egg sandwiches were all out when we came on a Sun morning at 930am, must be an early riser!
Unbelievable variety, smelled delicious.
"One of everything please"!
For many years, my family and I have ordered many desserts from Poupart's. For my daughter's 30th birthday, I ordered Chocolate icing with Chocolate cupcakes. I told them that I wanted pink and purple flowers decorated on the cupcakes. Whenever I went to pick up the cupcakes, the lady opened the box of cupcakes so fast that I didn't get a clear look of the finished product. While my husband was driving away, I opened the box to see what the cupcakes looked like. The cupcakes looked like nothing I ordered. First of all they were white icing on chocolate cupcakes. The decorations were not pink and purple flowers but something that looked like a five year old completed (it looked like someone sprayed on a weird looking rainbow). By this time, we were already home and the bakery was closed. So, I sucked it up and hoped that the cupcakes would taste better than what they looked like. Everyone who ate one said it tasted funny and that the cupcakes were stale. Needless to say, if this the kind of product I will getting from Poupart's then I will start making my own cupcakes and cakes.
Love their French King Cakes. A new taste experience.
Everything here is wonderful, it's not just eye candy, it tastes as good as it looks. I cannot say any one item is my favorite. The breads, delicious, so are the muffins and croissants...and biscuits! The pastries are just incredible, light and not too sweet.
I LOVE POUPART ITS THE BEST YOU'LL GET.
Be careful when you go in. The desserts will hook you.
Everything I get is delicious and gives me a taste of France in my neighborhood;)
Everything was very good. Kids loved the mice pastry and the pecan Danish was wonderful.
Great place. Super fresh. The works biscuit need i say more.
This bakery is the best! We always visit Poupart's when we visit Lafayette.
Pouparts is a great bakery that has been around for a long time. They have cookies, brownies, cakes, breads, and many other pastries and desserts. They have breakfast items and a lunch menu as well. You won't be disappointed if you go there.
Their french style king cakes are my favourite! They are also my go to for birthday/event cakes.
Nice assortment of desserts. A little pricey but worth the home cooked freshness.
Had the chocolate eclair and it was amazing ! The oversized macaroons are great ... You will not be disappointed.
Everytime I walk into this place I gain 5 pounds. The cakes are superb. The desserts are beautiful and delectable. A feast for the eyes.
