REVIEWS OF New Orleans Cake Café & Bakery IN Louisiana

Athena Huckaby

I adore this place and try to come here whenever I am in New Orleans. It's unpretentious and also you can tell that the folks take serious pride in everything. Everything from the biscuits to the grits to the iced coffee is delicious and made with real loving care.

Staci S

Ordered a German Chocolate Cake for my husbands birthday. It was delicious. I was able to get the perfect size. It was so fresh.

Karishma Kibria

We were on our road trip from Virginia to Texas and planned to take a 3 hour stop at New Orleans. I was craving for some sweet and savory and found this place in google. The place is warm and cozy and at the end if Quiet corner of Chartres street. They have a nice outdoor seating. We tried French toast, chocolate croissant and hot chai. I must say the croissant was the best! Buttery, crispy and very chocolaty! They don’t have many options for cakes or pastry but whatever they have surely very well made!

Aurore

Blueberry muffin was delicious

Omar Barnhart

We loved this place! Try anything that has a biscuit on or in it. Shrimp and grits were delicious. Sandwich options are good. Cakes and pastries are fantastic. Prices are reasonable. Staff are friendly. Vegetarian options as well.

matthew ross

I've only had one dish here, but I can already tell this place is really at the top of their game. I'm used to omelettes being kind of boring - something I have to tart up with lots of hot sauce. They use loads of fresh roasted veggies in their omelette, and it is absolutely bursting with flavor. They also don't skimp on the fruit salad - it's totally fresh and not the usual cheap cop out of hard chunks of green melon. And those biscuits. Sinful but totally irresistible. Really a great treat and a balanced breakfast with quality ingredients that is hard to find in any city. I just moved to Nola and will be back at least twice a week. Can't be beat.

Greg Avakian

Great food for vegans and vegetarians -so I assume the critter food is good too. Delicious coffee, variety of "milks", nice staff, the blueberry turnovers are amazing! Pic is sesame tofu sammy (had it twice!) and veggie grits. Also had the tofu scramble on a second visit. All delicious, well seasoned and balanced flavors.

Kyra Caron

Our first time in NOLA. Best breakfast place by far. Great food, service, and atmosphere.

Mark Watson

Without a doubt my favorite breakfast spot of our entire trip. The staff is awesome the food is perfect and of course they're known for their cupcakes which were amazing. What a friendly place to dine in. We will definitely be back there every trip we make to New Orleans.

C. Greer

Cake cafe is my favorite brunch spot in the city hands down. The staff is friendly and the food is fresh and delicious. Cake is also in the perfect location. I always recommend visiting friends start their day at Cake and work their way to Frenchman or the Quarter. If you visit during the holiday season check out the eggnog cheese cake, and if you're here for Mardi Gras give their king cakes a try. You won't regret it.

Jackson Hall

Beyond pleased. It's one of those place that will become too busy because it such a great place. Three days in a row we visited and we are beyond pleased.

Matthew Lansberry

Yummy. Good prices for the area. They definitely don’t go cheap on the ingredients or the portions.

Miss Minor

This is my favorite breakfast place to visit while in New Orleans. It is a converted house and the food is amazing! Expect dishes like shrimp with grits, corned beed hash, lox and eggs, and much more. Be aware that it's a small dining area and often crowded but so worth the wait. Outdoor seating is available.

Victoria Burke

Good cakes but horrible customer service. Called multiple times over a period of a month to get a baker on the phone to place an order for 8 dozen cupcakes (which I specifically stated was needed each time I called). When I finally got a baker on the phone after a month of being promised I’d receive a call back and following up with them the baker said they could not fulfill an order that large. Had I known that the first time I called, I wouldn’t have wasted a month tracking these people down.

H M

Love this place. There aren't too many tables but the food is amazing. We had the tofu scramble and the French toast. I highly recommend getting the fried potato. Coffee and silverware are self serve but they do bring the food out. Great food and service!

Don Shilney

Corned beef hash and biscuits n' gravy are amazing. Blue eyes tea is the best hangover cure. Also it's only $1 to add a cupcake to your meal. <3

Jane Vie

Excellent. We had inlets. Shrimp for me meat for my husband. Came with huge biscuits. We brought half home.

Essence Stewart

Yum yum yum!! Really good food and fast customer service

Stephen Friday

We had a delicious lunch here. Food was fresh and local. Quaint Bywater location where you can sit outside and watch the peaceful neighborhood go by.

Caleb Brown

I love this place.

Sarah Jane

This place was great! Loved the any portabella in a storm omelet, which was deceptively large and I actually couldn't finish it! Vegetarian options. Coffee, cupcakes. Friendly staff. Good stuff.

Miguel Morales

This small place has a real home cooked meal vibe. They have great outdoor seating that is perfect for a nice day out. Their French coffee is good. Once I got my corned beef hash with Yukon potatoes, scrambled eggs and biscuit. It came together really well. My wife got herself some chicken breakfast tacos and said they hit the spot. Overall, this is a great place to catch some good breakfast or brunch options. Relatively cheap for the quality of food and in a great location.

Dr. Douglas G. Scott

Had a great breakfast at this quirky hole in the wall spot. Pleasant people, GREAT corned beef hash, bottomless coffee cup. One of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time.

Andrew Dodenhoff

Tasty red beans and rice! Served with two slices of their bread, excellent. Scrumptious yellow cup cake with chocolate frosting, yum. Very friendly service!

Mara de la Rosa

The best breakfast we had in NOLA! Cute simple cafe with a variety of comfy eats.

Kevin Dame

Such good food. Nice to sit outside and eat. Adding a $1 cupcake to your meal is always a good idea. I had a crab sandwich and iced coffee. It's set up like a deli counter and water and coffee are self serve.

Gordon Lawson

The food and ambience is terrific. Great local flavor. The Real NOLA

Betsy Papaly

Really good food, great service, cozy place! Make sure to get a cupcake.

Mark Walls

Fast service, good coffee. Catfish, eggs, grits and a biscuit were amazing. Great location not too far from the French Market

William Butler

Ended up eating breakfast here both days we were in New Orleans. Everything was homemade. Had the meat omelet and breakfast tacos and both were exceptional. The pastries and coffee were very good. Very reasonable prices.

Lindsay Davis

The hostess was wonderful in helping our large party get situated. The food was great, too!

Emily Ling

Very good food, cute ambiance, pretty neighborhood!

Andrea Ballard

The doughnuts! Delicious and fresh. I also got a stuffed bagel. It looked like a brioche, but it was stuffed with cream cheese, tomato, red onion and capers. I love savory breakfast items and this was one of the best.

Jason Gillespie

Holy moly. Get a special. Get a cupcake. Get some coffee. The people are friendly, the coffee was well above par, the cupcake was light and fluffy, and the smoked beet sandwich changed beets for me for ever. 10 of 10.

Ana Cruz

I think i’ve tried most of their menu items, and each and every one always better than the next. Myself and my husband have visited New Orleans 3 times and we eat here every morning on each visit. The chikory coffee is great, i mean just everything is great! The homemade jam with those biscuits are a great pair with any of their salter dishes like the catfish, or shrimp and grits etc

Sam Westall

Great brunch place. Really good healthy options which is a rare find in NOLA!!

Cynthia Lamantia

Delicious cake and sandwiches. Love the choices of bread given. Iced coffee and green tea great and club sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich and fried catfish with grits.....all good

Marcel van den Bosch

Had a delicious portabello omelet. Good quality toast with amazing home made berry Marmelade.

Drew Cortez

Delicious, don’t think about it go try it for yourself

James Catalano

Great place for breakfast/brunch. The staff treat you like family. Highly recommended from a local.

Julie Whiteman

This place feels like a second home to me. New Orleans' best kept secret. Staff here is always familiar and friendly. Food is amazing but don't get me started on the pastries and coffee. The best I've ever tasted. And when King Cake season rolls around, it's hard for me to stay away from the apple and goat cheese filled King Cake that they make! You can't go wrong here. So thankful to have this place in my life <3

Mary Aubin

Wonderful food, fantastic baked goods, the best king cake around (apple w/ goat cheese - to die for!), and friendly people. The seating could use some work... it's definitely not built for the kind of crowds it gets now, but that's the sign of them doing everything else SO RIGHT.

Shalonda Berry

Always great. Dont forget to get some of the tasty treats in the case.

GRACI FINKLE

Easy walk from Frenchman’s breakfast sandwich was delicious coffee excellent

Dean Thomas

Wonderful food and nice staff. Some pretty unique options and good variety of salads and vegetables available. As well as some good comfort food like shrimp and grits and biscuits and gravy. In a very cool neighborhood, highly recommend.

Shante Shaw

Came here for my best friend and I's birthday breakfast. The food was amazing! Have you ever had a crab meat omelette? Well you haven't lived until you have! They also have amazing cupcakes and made my friend and I feel right at home. Loved it. Will be back

Valerie Bonsu

I had the corned beef hash and it was good. What I love the most about this place is that you can get a cupcake for only a dollar with every meal. The cupcake is tasty too.

Hennah Abubaker

We got the roasted vegetable omelet and crab sandwich.... AMAZING FOOD!! With wonderful service, I also got the apple and goats cheese king cake to go, probably the best king cake I have ever had. Breakfast was so delicious, everything was fresh and not overly indulgent, deserves more than 5 stars. Also awesome coffee!!

Ariana Scott

Cozy eatery serving classic New Orleans fare. Fresh crabmeat dishes are a must. Great restaurant for vegetarians & vegans. A brunch spot must for locals and tourists alike.

EK Hutch

5 stars for food. Decor, outside seating a 3 star. Would love to return again and again!

Karl Willaims

I love this place. It's a bit off the beaten path but we'll worth finding! I don't think I've ever had a better breakfast. Best corned beef hash on the planet. I'm going back soon!

Steve Replogle

Quaint, friendly, delicious, inventive, artistic, comfortable, scrumptious, yummy. Also, sometimes, too crowded, too stressful, too many people with too few chairs. But mostly that inventive and artistic deliciousness! One of the best King Cakes around.

Chantell Lovette

This place is amazing! Food was delicious and the customer service was great. Every one is so nice! The catfish sandwich is a must try!

Tri Duong

Loved everything about this place. From food to employees to ambience.

Michael Eldridge

The breakfast bagel and coffee is insanely good. Awesome service for a great price.

Norm Glitz

Wonderful little place on the edge of the French quarter. Get in the fast moving line, the very busy waitress takes your name an gets you a table. After you've ordered, they call your name and bring out your food. A self-service coffee bar and add a cupcake to your order for $1. Sit inside or out, it's great. Highly recommend the shrimp and grits, maybe with a couple of eggs on top.

Donna Moffat

This became my go to place for breakfast in the Marigny district.... friendly staff... good, simple, tasty food.... served indoors or on the sunny sidewalk. Coffee is great... refills are free.... It is busy after nine everyday.... but crazy busy on the weekend.

Richard Striebeck

Great food and a really cute restaurant. Appeals to both meat eaters and vegetarians.

jc austin

Very efficient Table seating. Super friendly. Everything was homemade. Great eggs and Sausage. Coffee ,cupcakes and good stuff.

Polina Osipova

Very family kind of feel. Very cozy, very frirndly. Fair prices too. $1 cupcakes with meal. Everything is delicious!!!!

Thomas Morgan

Great spot about 6 blocks from Frenchman's. Pastries are out of this world. I had the king cake stuffed with goat cheese and apples. Unreal. Some unique selections here and a nice outdoor seating area if you visit during a cooler time.

George Gilmore II

If your looking for the best breakfast at a great price, this is the place to go! Customer service was great & the food was great! AAA+++

Leigh

I had a lovely lunch here during a recent trip to New Orleans. I opted for the “healthy grits” and the fried potato salad, which were absolutely delicious, and kept me going for the rest of the day. The portion size was also very reasonable, as opposed to the huge portions you tend to get down south, half of which you tend to end up wasting. Staff were friendly, service was swift and the food arrived quickly, so I was a very happy customer.

Dillon Hewitt-Castillo

Delicious food!! Cupcake with meal for a dollar yes yes yes. Very efficient table seating, SUPER FRIENDLY staff

Graziella DiRenzo

Great food, friendly service, the food came out fast. Dog friendly seating outside. Handicap accessible to the interior ( unsure about the bathroom). Order at the counter. Good coffee. Great biscuit!!!

Brian Hall

Jane Simos

In a city full of great food, this is my go-to place for breakfast or lunch. Amazing every time.

Joseph Utter

Go here & experience Awesome service and wonderful food! A Fun, Clean, and Sweet atmosphere, inside set in a bohemian feeling neighborhood.

Tim C

This is our new favorite place for breakfast in New Orleans. It is quintessentially Bywater and so beautifully blended into the neighborhood. We were greeted by a very attentive and professional staff who were probably so upbeat because they know how great their place is. I have half and half in my coffee; however the French roast was so impossibly perfect that I drank it black. Great coffee weighs heavily in my rating of a restaurant. I was served a plate of perfectly prepared grits and shrimp that was accompanied by a delicately delicious buscuit. A waitress then brought us some home made raspberry and blueberry jam - wow it was so good. My spouse had the best corn beef hash and eggs that either of us have eaten. They grilled their corn beef and it is a great way to serve this dish. I am giving this cafe a rare five star rating even though the decor and art could have been a tad better- the food is just that good.

Anthony Tucker

Go Go Go. And when you finish eating come back and thank me

Andrea F

Amazing brunch spot. No dedicated parking lot. Neighborhood cats are friendly. Staff is wonderful. Clean restaurant. AMAZING food. Wonderful cupcakes.

Interesting food excellently prepared. Good twists on standard fare. I would recommend this as an interesting alternative to the usual French Quarter places. Busy. Be prepared to wait a few minutes.

Dana West

Best place to eat in New Orleans! Hands down!

Jan Boney

Always delicious. Well run. During busy times, expect to be there long enough to eat before ceding your table. On the other hand, you won't have to wait to eat. Shrimp and grits, wow. Biscuits are the best. And those preserves.... ! Great neighborhood vibe.

Killer place. Really good fresh food options. We had breakfast and lunch. Both were wonderful. Nice plates with generous portions. Wonderful coffee. Jennifer Lanam

Great food and Cafe au Lait in quaint atmosphere

Hannah Gangaware

Went to eat there was visiting the area and really wanted to try it out. There were no signs about outdoor seating and when we went in they just said to order inside. We grabbed a menu and sat at a table outside to look it over while still keeping an eye on our bikes. A server came over and said you cant sit here and rudely told us you dont get a table until you order. I tried to explain we were looking at the menu but she was curt and rude. We decided to leave (I was a server for many years she lost a 30% tip.) Side note most places have a sign that says please wait to be seated if that is their policy, there wasnt one. RUDE.

Diana Beard

Nice little place. Need to go back when I have more time.

Cake Cafe is a gem. Everyone there is so nice and the food is always great. It's small so there can be a wait at prime hours but the staff manages the room well and keeps it moving. The $1 cupcake with a meal is among my favorite lagniappe deals.

Tahsin Khan

Excellent crab omelette and Portobello mushroom omelette. Very satisfied with the meal. Pricing is on par with most other restaurants of the same quality. About $13 to 15 per meal. Decent space to sit down and eat. We arrived early in the morning so we didn't have to deal with a line-up. Would definitely return!

Robert Evans

Jerome Wilson

The place was crowded @ 11am, however the line went fast. Hostess took our name, within 10mon we ordered at counter and s he made up a table. The crab omelet was delicious however it was a lil dry, it needs some sort of cream sauce in it or on top. Not 1 shell in the entire dish..The biscuit was large n tasty. The serve yourself coffee thermos, need to be hotter,as temp was luke warm...The corn beef hash was lil dry, meaning the eggs overcooked--dryed out., but at least served HOT as Most breakfast foods should be...The experience was Nice and i would RETURN again...Everyone who worked there was very friendly n courteous. Very upbeat n trendy crowds. Looks of great Art work displayed on the walls. RESTROOM--UNISEX--VERY CLEAN w/ VERT HOT WATER W/ Napkins available. Very popular place,it was a beautiful morning so many people sat outside..The management was very effective, efficent, made sure orders came out in a timely manner. It all seemed to work like clockwork..Nice Place for Good food, very Pleased. Prices very fair & Fairly nice food portions served.

Alexander Morris

Stumbled across this cafe by accident while staying nearby, and it was one of the best breakfast's I've had in New Orleans (for a VERY reasonable price). Told the staff it was my first time visiting and they were extremely welcoming. I ordered the boudin breakfast with a cinnamon roll. Tried to go back the next day but sadly they are closed on Tuesdays.

Brian Remmert

This was the BEST breakfast place -- we were so lucky to have stayed at a B&B right next door to it when we visited the Marigny. Just DELICIOUS! I crave it and I guess it's good it's so far away from Colorado or I would sure eat there every day and gain a bunch of weight. LOL

Toby Acosta

Best biscuit and gravy.

Andrea M

Incredible home made jelly, great service, fresh coffee

Lee Sprouse

Terrific coffee, friendly helpful staff, DELICIOUS food. 3 of us walked from the French Quarter for breakfast. One high calorie dish with gravy and fried oysters. One vegetarian scramble. One healthy grits dish. All three very pleased. Will definitely return the next time I'm in town.

Marcus Burkett

Lives up to the reputation. Fresh and delicious. And who doesn't love a cupcake with breakfast!?!

Michael Lovette

Best Catfish sandwich I’ve ever had. And cupcakes were delicious! Highly recommended.

Stacie Leech

Quick counter service. The food seems a little geared to tourists. I would have liked a little more spice but I understand you're trying to appease the masses. The baked goods were great. Had the apple and goat cheese and the pecan cream cheese king cakes. They were both great although the frosting was a bit over kill. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Chuck Hodge

Great breakfast, great service and nice folks. A little quirky, you feel like a local. Away from the crowds but still popular. Fried Potato Salad, how do you not order that? Cupcake with breakfast? Sur, its only $1 more.

Muhammad Danish Siddiqui

Superb.

Rochelle Overstreet

Lovely cafe, I had a crab omlete which was very good. Food is a bit pricey but the give you a plate full. Staff was polite and friendly will definitely come back.

Apart from the utterly spectacular food and generous portions, the service is amazing. The hostess is friendly and energetic and at the top of her game. It's a small place and you'll probably find a line, but the mushroom gravy and exceptional pastries are worth it

Lauren Baroch

Great breakfast with vegetarian options! Biscuits and mushroom gravy is to die for. Wished the tofu scramble was actually a scramble and not cubed.

Geneva Dupor
