The bakery is good and worth another visit. But if you're looking for a king cake similar to Dong Phuong's, this is not it. While the king cake is soft and sweet, it's quite pricey for the size with barely any filling. The medium is the size of a small Randazzo(see picture). All-in-all, the Hi-Do Bakery is great for your daily bakery needs, just not the best choice for King Cakes.

My favorite King cake. Every Mardi Gras, I order a Bavarian Cream filled King cake from Hi-Do. The cake is moist, the cream filling smells amazing, the colored sugar icing has a nice texture. So rich and delicious. Not your average office or grocery store King cake.

I called and asked if they had any king cakes available. They had a high rush but said that if I ordered one and came in a couple hours later it would be ready for me. I got there exactly when they told me to show up and my king cake was hot out of the oven. I watched them put sugar on it in front of me and it was the best king cake ever, in my opinion.

I’m a native New Orleanian and have been eating king cake for over 35 years. This year I decided to really compare the different ones. Hi-Do won hands down, without a doubt. It’s the perfect combination of soft and moist bread, sugar and I had cream cheese filling. I compared Manny Randazzo’s, Bywater Bakery, Dong Phuong and Hi-Do. The others are only “okay” in comparison to the king cake that Hi-Do has perfected!!

Picked up a Hi-Do Bavarian Cream King Cake from Hi-Volt yesterday on my way out. Being a local this was nice surprise. The bread was moist, nice flavor and the cream was nice and airy. I didn’t care for the icing. It’s also a small king cake for the price - generally good all around.

Awesome find right on Terry parkway in gretna. Staff is super friendly and very fast. Bakery has awesome croissants of all varieties and they are great. King cakes are the best anywhere! And fresh baked French bread is perfect. I got a chocolate, strawberry cream and blueberry cream croissant, 3 almond cookies and a Bavarian cream king cake all for less than 30 bucks! If you are anywhere close to gretna stop in and thank me later

My reason for the three stars is because they don't accept debit or credit cards and many times I'm passing by and wanting to get a delicious croissant and I can't because I don't have cash. I just love their croissants I feel like they're the best I've ever had there so crispy and light and delicious and fresh and they have all kinds of flavors even ham and cheese plain as my favorite and they have other goodies that I've had one or two of here in there but I mainly go for the croissants
