I will never order a cake from Chez Cake Bakery in houma again. My small red and black 6 inch cake for my daughters birthday tomorrow was supposed to be finished at 11am on April 21st. It was supposed to be only red and black, with roses and glitter.
We went at 11:15 for them to tell us it'll be finished at 1. Get there at 2:30 and IT STILL WAS NOT DONE. We finally get our cake 10 minutes until 3 and this is what we get. A rushed birthday cake completely incorrect. I will post a picture in the comments.
The ONLY pro I received from this business was that they waived their 72 hour rule for our big cake because my daughter's birthday party was canceled due to rain. I believe I spoke with Melinda about this. She was great and professional.
So instead I asked them to make the small cake for her birthday and the big one for her birthday party because I wanted to still give them my business. Come to find out, they probably "waived" it because they overbooked.
The picture in the comments is the cake I was waiting from 11-3 on. Needless to say I will NEVER order from them again.
I called on Monday and Tuesday to speak with the owner about the situation Saturday. One message on Monday was not relayed. On Tuesday, Melinda explained what happened Saturday and was VERY professional. I still requested to speak to the owner as it is her business and she reflects her business. Melinda, this review in no way reflects your professionalism.
Sarah called me this morning, and I asked her what can we do to rectify the situation that happened Saturday. She rushed to tell me to cancel my new cake for this Saturday. I explained that I wanted to speak to her to give her an opportunity to reflect her business practices that were poor this passed weekend. She started yelling at me about how I was apparently patronizing her and that she doesn't need my business. I explained that the only reason I was contacting her was to give her an opportunity to either explain more in dept of the extreme delay, or to show me some sort of example of how people in the future should expect to be treated by her. She hung up on me, refused to refund my money for the April 28th cake (approx $70) because "its in her terms" (yet, I was told you have 72 hours to cancel), and continued to hang up on me and yell at me each and every time I tried to communicate with her. THEN had the nerve to tell me I was the one yelling at her. She had an opportunity to fix her mistake and blew it. If you want to be treated with disrespect, visit this business and express dissatisfaction. I will be speaking with the BBB, and going to the business to have my card refunded. If it is not refunded, I will be taking this up with my credit card company. I suggest anyone with bad experiences to do the same.
