They have a TON of pastry selections and a wide variety of warm options. The tortas sandwich that I had melted in my mouth. So yummy!!! We will definitely be back. They also open super early so you can get in there before work if you feel like treating your coworkers to yummy snacks.

One of major claims to fame is the freshness My friend and I were waiting in line looking at the menu board. All of the selections are clearly displayed along with their corresponding prices. . We're SO lucky to live in the Old Northeast, close to Elvira's! The pan dulce selection is wide, and ever-changing; takes me back to Zihuatanejo every time I buy some. We love the tamales too, though a friend's husband thought they could have a little more stuffing. For $1.29 each, however, who's complaining? Also, it presents a great opportunity to practice your Spanish! The folks there are kind and patient to we gringos..gracias a Dios...

Ordered a cake for 4:00pm did not recieve the cake till 5:45pm. The cake I had ordered was nowhere to be found, pretty sure they made the cake last minute when i showed proof that i had ordered and PAYED For it!! When we cut the cake, the cake was nothing like we had ordered no strawberries, no tres leches just plain red colored whipped cream in the middle of the cake maybe to hide the no strawberries that should have been on it? Not worth the $100 we payed for a plain walmart tasting cake. Don't recommend nor trust them for your party cakes. Will not be ordering from them ever again!!!

It's like a bakery combine with a restaurant inside. Who knew?! I love coming here to tried out something new. I had their tres leche cake and their pastries. I like how their sweets are not to sweet like the average American Bakeries. I decided to try their food last night and had their gorditas, elotes, and their tamales. It's all so delicious and their season of their food was spicy yet not too overpowering. They make their food right there so you know it's very authentic. It's very hard to understand the cook/clerk if you don't speak or know spanish well. So brush up on your Spanish skills a little bit and they will be very much helpful to let get what you want. Definitely will go back.

Wanted a different birthday cake not the typical big box grocery store type cake. Found Elvira's online, made the drive. It's in an older part of NE KC Missouri. It was BUSY telling me I was in for a treat. It is a Hispanic business so communication was a teeny bit difficult. But OMG the cake was BEAUTIFUL & EVERYONE raved how delicious it was!!! And I have to talk about the beautiful jello molds there. Works of art. A gentleman behind me assured me ALL the food there is good. He states he goes there for the tamales. I was welcomed & treated so well I highly recommend you going off the beatened path & give Elvira's a try!

Very cute bakery with many choices! I do not speak Spanish so the staff did have to be a bit more patient with me. But, the quality is excellent for the price! Really great selection of breads/pastries and very beautiful specialty cakes are available. I will definitely consider them for my next big event instead of a more commercial bakery. One of the worst cakes I have EVER seen! For the price we paid for our cake we expected something very close to the photo we showed of our vision. When arrived the icing was already cracked. The cake was tilting as they were setting it up. They arrived, set up, got their money, and quickly left before we were able to check over the cake. I gave them over 4 dozen flowers - 3 dozen roses, a dozen tulips, and small flowers to be used on my cake and they used 2 roses, tulips, and a few smaller flowers. The cake tasted good but at a wedding the look of the cake is the main priority and this was a horrendous looking cake. Would NEVER recommend using Elviras Cakes for any occasion! If I could give negatives I would!

I really should have paid attention to the tres leche cake reviews. We ordered one and drove 40 mins across the city to pick it up. It was ready on time and looked nice, but it was another story when we actually attempted to eat it. The cake was insanely dry, had zero flavor, and even seemed stale, which was very surprising since this cake was supposed to be freshly made. It was disgusting and a complete let down. We had great expectations and they were no where near met. I can honestly say this was the worst cake I have ever attempted to eat in my life. Nobody finished their cake. After a few bites everyone threw their slice away. I will never spend another dollar here and there's absolutely no way I could ever recommend this place to anyone. I can only assume the 4 and 5 star reviews are from supportive family members and friends, not actual unrelated paying customers.

Great selection of cakes pinatas along with food selections, tamales, burritos and tacos. They also do ice cream, coffee and Mexican bread. Parking can be a little tricky on busy days. Best time to go is during the weekdays. They have large pinatas that are $35 for the big ones and $18 for smaller one's and plenty to choose from. Definitely is a great place to grab a bite to eat or do a little bit of birthday shopping for cakes pinatas. They do have tables and chairs to dine in.

Very hot...no A/C. I am white and no one could speak English and while I was in the middle of being helped I was blown off for a Hispanic lady and her order. It made me very uncomfortable. My husband and daughter got ice cream that was melted. I ordered two tamales that were ice cold and they had no sauce. The establishment was very dirty and I won't go back.
