This is my favorite donut shop in Indianapolis. The glazed cake and glazed yeast donuts are so good. They also have a good variety of flavors offered. The staff gets through a line quickly and they’re always friendly. I hope it never changes. Just a great hidden gem on the south side.

Honestly, Boyden's is undoubtedly the best bakery that Indy has to offer. All of their products are always fresh and delicious, and the staff couldn't be friendlier. This is certainly the place to go if you're looking for great baked goods with a home-grown appeal. Ask for their homemade oatmeal creme pies! You won't typically see them on display, but they're a must-have!

Great cookies! Absolutely yummy and they had milk right in hand to eat with said cookies. My only tiff is the rude girl manning the counter! Very unhelpful. I asked if some of the fudge had peanuts and she acted like It was a big inconvenience to tell me no. So rude. Bought the cookies anyways they were good

I love their baked goods. Everything from the Cookies to the cakes & in between. My recent experience, however, in dealing with the staff was unbelievably disappointing and will unfortunately keep me from using them again in the future. Someone who I believe to be in a Manager/Owner role was unbelievably rude to me and a younger employee was equally as rude when I went into the shop in person. What a shame. A business isn't just about a good product, horrible service is enough to taint the best deliverable!

I live in this area and wanted a yeast donut so naturally I went I was new to the area and wanted to check them out. My first impression wasn't good. I walked in two women were behind the counter one older and one maybe early 20's, I was greeted by neither and when I was approached with what I wanted I honestly didn't feel welcomed. The icing on the cake was when I paid for my cookies and yeast donuts I reached my hand out to get my change and she laid in on the glass countertop. Okay maybe a bad day I thought we all have those. A few days later I wanted a can Pepsi because that's one of the many bad eating habits I'm trying to break so I decided to go there and get one versus Kroger and a 12 or 24 pack. These women are rude I tried the three strikes your out policy. SO I would rather use more gas and drive to Longs bakery then give them my money. The sad part about it was my insurance agent was telling me how he grew up in this area and enjoyed coming to pick up my premiums so he would have an excuse to stop in so I was hearing great things. Please I wish I would give somebody my hard earned money and they don't have enough common courtesy to greet me when I walk in their establishment. I only gave them 1 star because that's the only way I could post my review I didn't want to give them that.

Boyden's Bakery has been a long Southside staple for 45+ year's that I can remember. Their Donut's are made fresh in store. They don't hesitate to fill that Jelly donut up. They are diffently worth stopping and get some everyday. Also have the awesome baby Gators and cookies and cakes.

The have great cookies and cakes. Their cake donuts are very flavorful. My mother will hardly touch a cake unless it’s a Boyden’s cake. The icing is definitely unique. It’s very sweet and creamy but somehow always has a crunchy thin layer on top. Try it. You’ll see what I mean.

I want to like this place so bad but... For pastries its a bit higher priced than other places and more than i think it should be. Most pastries seem to be made of the same dough or whatever and all kinda taste the same. The doughnuts are good but the yeast are the dense kind which i only like sometimes (i like the airy ones a bit better). I think i spent $13 on a dozen yeast once?! Its also one of those places where if you dont get there by 9am, good luck having any kind of selection to choose from and they arent making any more. Many times ive come in around noon to get a couple doughnuts for lunch and they didnt hardly have any. And on Natnl Doughnut Day...good luck getting even ONE if its after 9am. Its easy to spend $8-10 here if you're not careful. This place doesnt hold a candle to Longs.

I've heard about this bakery for a long time, finally was in the area and stopped in to try it. Everything I heard about it was true! I stopped in Sunday about 11:30 am. still had a nice selection left. I took about 1 of everything - donuts - rolls. I got 16 items. They were all delicious. Loved them all, especially the Cannonball. Reasonable prices too! Highly recommend to donut eaters.

I really like their donuts, and when I bring donuts in for my co workers, it's from here. They open very early. The prices are good. The people are nice. One or two of my co workers whine sometimes and say they want Long's, and I tell them they can't have any of these. That shuts them up. They stare and drool until I say, " okay boy you can have one but only if you beg. " That's right. People beg for these donuts.

I used to buy the bismarks at the old Biffs bakery in mooresville now closed. I drove all the way from martinsville just to try Boyden's bismarks and I wasnt disappointed Wow! One is a meal in itself same taste as the ones from Biffs but these are huge. If I could give ten stars I would*********

So me and my fiancé were looking forward to our cake from Boyden's. My fiancé got a call from the owner stating our cake was too big even though we ordered a cake off of there menu. Keep in mind this is a week out from our wedding. Then just decided to inform us of transportation issues. A WEEK out from our wedding. Then I called back to get my refund back for our deposit. And they shorted me $20. I wouldn't recommend Boyde's for anyone playing a wedding. Our experience was we had rude and unprofessional service.

I rarely feel inclined to write a review but we drove out of our way to try these highly rated donuts. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The glazed donuts had grey-green spots from the fry grease under the icing. The chocolate icing had no flavor and the other we tried were mediocre at best.

I consider myself a donut connoisseur (particularly of glazed variety). Some may think all glazed donuts taste alike, but I beg to differ! I was lucky enough to sample a Boyden glazed donut this morning when a coworker brought them into work and was pleasantly surprised at the taste and texture (not too heavy/cakey and not so fluffy it melts on contact, perfect amount of glaze!). The only other bakery that competes with this experience (in my opinion thus far) is Square Donuts. This has given me a reason to visit the south side!

I lived in Indy 20-odd years ago. I used to stop at Boyden's 3 or more times a week for their alligator pastries (kind of like a flat coffee cake with maple frosting), They were absolutely scrumptious. After I moved back to Ohio, they'd slipped my mind. My wife and I decided to make a road trip to Indy, to see what had changed and see if we could eat at any old haunts. I started mapping some spots and saw Boyden's was still open. I called to be sure, and pre-ordered a bunch of alligators. Nothing had changed. They were still absolutely amazing. We picked up a few other items (cherry danish, sugar cookies and a cinnamon roll), all of which were just as good, if not better, than those hoity-toity "craft" bakeries. Boyden's is a small, hometown, community bakery that can hang with any of the big boys. If you come to Indy, swing by for an alligator. You will not be disappointed.
