We have all the information of real people who use the products and services of Medici On 57th (Bakery) in the state of Illinois.
Right now the firm gets a score of 4.4 stars over 5 and that rating has been based on 1513 reviews.
As you can read, the average score it has is good, and it's founded on a very large number of scores, so we can be pretty sure that the score is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to value when they've done well, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to place evaluations when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Bakery is included in the category of Pizza restaurant.
A nice place to go for a casual dinner. Decent burgers and other entrees. Delicious desserts too. Interesting craft(?) beer choices, but I'm always driving. :) Consistently friendly and good service!
I love this place!!! Been going 25 plus years and the atmosphere is as great as ever. The best part is showing my kids my graffiti from my young adult years!!!
Groovy place with great service.
The Med has been a go-to since we first ducked inside during a rain shower five years ago. The baked goods are delicious and the service is excellent. The line may be daunting at times, but don’t despair... it moves quickly.
Excellent spot! Very warm and inviting
Great atmosphere... Good food... service was alright.
Great vibe, amazing food. Homemade tortilla chips with guac is a must, as the many original recipes they have in the menu. Don't forget to bring your sharpie...
Great fresh food! Nice variety of choices
A great place breakfast and lunch and very family-oriented and they have a great view of a wooden clock that turns it's interesting to look at.
Really good deep dish pizza Cool college vibe
I enjoyed the Moroccan ragout soup & a sausage pizza. The food is always so tasty. They have the best onion rings ever!!!
Not objectively great, but a Hyde Park institution with lots of solid menu options.
Great food. Pizza is very good and so are burgers.
Great pizza, and a solid menu of other dishes. Can get a little crowded inside, but takeout is always an option.
Food and service was wonderful
A jewel in Hyde Park!
One of my favorites, the fresh baked breads. The food is good, the staff is friendly and there is an outdoor patio.
Food was amazing, the vibes are great. Service was good as well!
Solid neighborhood bakery with supersized pastries that are sometimes a little over the top with the fillings at the expense of the dough.
The food and service is always on point
Great food, average service. Very cold by second floor window if you go. Overall a nice place.
Excellent food. Great service. Good variety of options with a menu that's not overwhelming.
Good pizza. Good service.
Went here for breakfast and loved it! Great service, great food, lots of fun. I'd highly recommend it to anyone!
UChicago classic with unchanging tastes
We live this Hyde Park classic. We make a point of going any time we're in the area. Both their regular meals and brunch are always excellent. Portions are huge and delicious.
Great pizza, great service!
Fave spot in Hyde Park!
One of the better sit-down restaurants in Hyde park. Also has an adjacent deli/bakery. The Fresh Mozz is highly recommended.
Everything from the coffee all the way to the pizza is phenomenal! I occasionally stop by for the mocha that has the ice cream in it, and the vegetarian bagel sandwich. The staff are great and well trained.
Good breakfast....friendly staff gotta get the vanilla chia. So good
This place has a really nice outdoor patio upstairs! I had the turkey wrap and that was good. The fries are decent. But let me tell you, the passteries are really good! I had the Apple cinnamon croissant, it was delicious. My favorite thing to get from there is their pizza! It's also close to a park so it's a really nice place for the kids.
Delicious food and drinks!
This place was absolutely AMAZING. We happened upon it looking for some pizza after leaving the museum science and industry. It is like 6 or 7 blocks from museum and it is well worth the walk or drive. The pizza is some of the best I've ever had and I grew up in the city. Small place and service was spectacular. I would give 100 stars if I could.
Stellar coffee shop serving amazing homemade baked goods and freshly brewed Kickapoo Coffee. I had something called a biscuit that was a hybrid of a giant sugar cookie and a scone. Recommended
Medici is home, base, safe....at least to this Hyde Parker. There's a variety of delicious and healthier food options and they make the best bread in the city. There are no Michelin stars here; this is a home-cooked meal.
Incredible pizzs with options for vegan pan crust and cheese. Loved it! Staff was friendly too.
THE BEST COZY WITH A VARIETY OF FOOD IN HYDE PARK.
Really good food, service and atmosphere.
I had the spinach lasagna and thought that it was fantastic, but my husband was not too pleased about his burger. First, they forgot to add the cheese and he felt the burger was flavorless and that the bun was hard. He did like the vanilla milkshake. In addition to food, there was an effective way of seating customers. There was about a 10 min wait before being greeted by the hostess. Then, another 10 minutes for her to come back after looking for tables. There should be a system to notify the hostess of open tables.
Quick in and out for breakfast on the go. Pastries are delicious, you really can't make a wrong decision on which one to have. If you can wait a bit, their milkshakes are also very good (but take time to make).
I'll give Medici 5 stars still because of shakes and garbage pizza but usually when I go to sit down there I order the BLAT (Bacon lettuce avocado tomato) because it's decent and normally the size of a normal sandwich but I went this week and they brought me out a BLAT that was literally like 6 square inches surface area and I was like damn y'all really did me dirty soooo I don't know I'll probably just get pizza from now on. Get the garbage pizza. Don't get the BLAT. No longer BYOB by the way, they serve alcohol.
A good place for Italian dishes. Very spicy menu and good waiting time.
Very nice old local hang out in Hyde Park that's family friendly, drinks are good and the food is fine, service is a bit slow but all in all a good neighborhood hang out.
Very tasty sandwich and coffee. Reasonable pricing and quick service .
Quick, fresh and friendly!
We usually go here for weekend breakfast. We have never regretted any order from Medici. The bottomless coffee is also great. And their baked items are really amazing.
Friendly service , cool ambiance
Grilled salmon sandwich with aioli slaw and avocado, with their awesome skinny fries. Yum.
Good sandwiches, prompt service.
Absolutely appalled by employees treatment. We came to eat breakfast and the sign said “please seat yourself”. We sat down at a table and was told to move. There was no reserved sign on the table and we had a party of 5. In our party was my 98 year old grandfather and my 4 month old baby. The place wasn’t busy and there were lots of other tables open. She told us again to move because the table is made for a party of 6 and we had 5. Is this how you treat the elderly and babies??? As we ate the table was being used for the employees as a serving table to refill customers waters. If you don’t want people sitting at certain tables simply have someone seat your customers or place a “reserved” sign on the table to avoid any disrespect that we most definitely felt as well as the other customers witnessing.
Great lunch spot! Bring a sharpie if you want to scribble on the walls in the Loo or by your booth, looks like it's encouraged.
it's good. They veggie sandwich is very good
The wait was not convenient. There could have been a better system for taking names and seating patrons. The food can be tasty but my eggs were a struggle to get correct. I would still go back, and just order an omelette
Reliable food. Tasty, large servings, fun environs.
Long time favorite in Hyde Park. Delicious food, atmosphere and laid back vibe.
This place has an extensive menus and does so many things with excellence: pizza, sandwiches, milkshakes, bread! Weekend brunch is delicious. Can't go wrong here and there's something for everyone.
Always a great experience. Food is very tasy, and the wait wasnt too long for a Sunday afternoon.
Very good sandwiches
I worked in this area and would always get their pastry’s and breakfast. It taste so home made and the potatoes and onions are literally to die for. So worth it!
Medici is one of my favorite places to visit every time I'm in Chicago
Fun place. Good food.
Good coffee, the place was dirty.
Great food and service! Love the hummus
It's all about the sauce! The best pizza I have had in (gosh, i can't even remember). I'm vegan too, so the crust and the sauce on a pizza are huge deal breakers. The crust is thin and the sauce -- oh, my God! taste like tomatoes were canned by someones grandma -- I swear! This is the best I have had in Chicago.
A long standing neighborhood institution, the Medici serves familiar, tasty food with casual style.
Their dine-in food is good, but their bakery is AMAZING. Still remains some of the best cinnamon rolls and almond croissants I've had in my life. Their pumpkin milkshake in the fall is also amazing. Sandwiches are tasty. Really can't go wrong with any of the bakery goods. Extremely limited seating though, which is a bummer.
Poached eggs in a mold. Decent hollandaise, but nothing amazing. Alfredo was just ok too. Maybe we should have gotten the pizza.
Good food. Varied menu. Neat atmosphere.
No matter what, I will always love the Med. It doesn't matter whether I've had a good day or a bad one, going to the Med will always be the highlight of my day. It's located really close to the UChicago campus, so you'll always find a swarm of students at both the restaurant and the cafe. The shakes are a must-get. You can't come to the Med and not get a shake. The Mexicana chocolate is a classic and filled with bits of chocolate bark. Their seasonal special shakes are always fun too and usually kinda chunky, which I love. My go-to dish is the steak quesadilla on flour tortilla. It comes with sour cream, salsa, and a guac that's out of the world good. They're always stuffed to the brim and I usually pack some of it home because I can't finish it all. Other dishes I love are the chili, thin-cut fries, chicken tenders, portabella sandwich, Southwest Salad, and garbage salad. The salads are always huge which I appreciate. The pizzas are delicious too with a variety of high quality toppings, but I've always found them to be a tad bit greasy. I've never had an issue with waiting too long for a seat or for food, the waiters are SUPER nice and friendly, and they are really accommodating to large groups. They also have a cafe and restaurant option depending on what you have time for. And as many others have mentioned, after 10pm, their pastries are only a dollar.
Their shakes and roasted veggies pizza are great.
I remember coming here often a few years ago. Was in the neighborhood with the family and decided to stop in. Was looking forward to it. The food was just bland. Really disappointing. Service is still stellar, but every dish we ordered was tasteless
A Hyde Park staple. Ive been eating here since 1995 and they haven't missed a beat! Everytime I come back to Chicago I have to stop by.
Stopped by my childhood favorite, The Medici for lunch and it hit the mark exactly. This visit we ordered a Reuben, an omelet, a turkey burger Reuben style and a steak with fries and mushroom gravy. The kids got milkshakes. Everything was spot on and the service was on point as always. I just wish I had room for some garbage pizza or barbecue chicken, my high school favorites. A definite repeat stop next time we are in Hyde Park.
Surprisingly excellent raisin bagel and always delicious coffee. I shouldn't be surprised by the bagel, all Medici baked goods are delicious.
Ok food, atmosphere is nice but always crazy busy.
A great place to relax and enjoy food, folks, fun, friends and family! Great service, menu and atmosphere. We just enjoyed some thin crust, quick delivery, mmmm mmmm delish!
Their pastries are so fresh and delicious. Loved their pancakes and pizza too.
Great specialty drinks! The mocha is amazing and the ice mocha (with ice cream) was very good. The cafe is small with very limited seating, but is a great place to grab a drink to go.
Great place for lunch
Great food. Awesome service. Wide variety of options, vegan included. Speedy arrival times. Two stages of seating, booths, tables, the whole nine yards.
Great local spot with fresh bakery selections and awesome food! Pizza and burgers are always a spot on choice!
been going since i was like 4 and its still got the same charm. waitstaff always polite and attentive, food is good and so is the bakery.
Relaxed city atmosphere. Great meal options and perfect service. Love Medici
Love the spinach goat cheese pizza. Black bean burger was okay. Overall, great ambiance and service. Pizza is great here.
Have been here countless times. The food, service, and prices are always great. A neighborhood favorite!
Food was nice. Vegans have limited options. Breakfast burrito is pretty good.
Always a fine time here. The food is very tasty. I had Turkey chili. It came quickly and was delicious. Staff is friendly and efficient.
Super tasty brunch spot. Ask to sit upstairs!
Touring UofC Campus, great place for a bite and delicious coffee
Opens 7am, serves hot pastries, crasounts good variety, hot teas, hot coffee, but limited seating, outdoor seating. Parking during the day is poor.
Fresh quick eats made with quality ingredients.
Pastries are Delight good variety
I admit the Med is hyped up due to the excessive sentimentality on the part of UChicago students towards the location. Hence the popularity. I personally like the food, but the service is okay at best. Also, the shakes are a hit or miss, so taking points off for the inconsistency of the food/drinks.
Delicious and quick service.
Reminds me of some eateries in Madison, Wisconsin. Nice...
Got Italian sub and tea. The sub had great accents between sweet and spicy and the Tuscany lavender tea was delicious.
Had breakfast at the Medici, Carlos was our server. Very attentive, he remembered my favorite breakfast. He kept our coffee cups full. Just a real good place to eat and their grade of food is excellent. The fried potatoes with onions + taste like my Grandmother's cooking. They make their own bread.
Love the Spinach and Feta croissant!!
Burger was good, loved the frozen strawberry lemonade, good service.
We ordered deep dish pizza, and it was very good. Although the service was a bit slow, the waiters were pleasant.
I stop by the bakery most mornings. The coffee is excellent and the muffins are wonderful. The great service really makes my morning. The actual restaurant is a Hyde Park staple. It's a great place to go with visiting friends or family as it really captures the spirit of the neighborhood. I highly recommend the pizza
World best Pizzeria
Wide menu selections, including healthy options. Portions are good. Drinks are quality and desserts are legit. I mean, the icecream is thick with real cream, the milkshakes and malts are classic as well. I really like how they experiment with the monthly specials. The bakery is also awesome and the good stuff goes fast (feta and spinach croissant is my fav). They offer some of the bread items at Hyde Park Produce, too.
The food was amazing as always! The service was great as well and the prices are reasonable!
Historic UC tradition. Be sure to try their signature Garbage Pizza, a rich variety of ingredients with deep dish crust.
The sandwiches, Fresh Mozz, and Half Pound Beef Dog, and the hot chocolate were all mediocre at best. The hot dog itself was quite delectable, but to come with the yellow mustard in a ciabatta only was a poor combination. Besides, it was not served with shoe-string fries nor griddle-cooked red onion as said on the menu. The Fresh Mozz which has fresh mozzarella, tomato, fresh basil, and balsamic dressing was not a tasty choice either. Service was quick, though.
Really enjoy the atmosphere and the diverse selection of food! Their brunch is really where it's at.
Good god is their bread delicious. Their pastries are also reasonably priced and extremely tasty.
Medici usually get its right all the time. Order whay you want and keep it moving. Love it.
$30 down the drain. I ordered a large roasted veggie pizza with vegan cheese. The menu details all the veggies included, I implore you to match them up on this photo. I did not ask for a half and half pizza. It looked as if they threw the ingredients on the pizza and half baked it (bottom of crust was beige). Will not be back. Sent an email. Disappointing. Update: The GM agreed the pizza was not up to the Medici standard and is sending a gift card.
Very great food
Coolest place in the area, very close to the university. Delicious food and a great atmosphere inside! I loved the artwork on the walls and decor inside. Great for a quick bite or lunch with friends. I’d recommend it to any friends visiting near the university.
One of the best places for breakfast in Chicago. The hash browns are excellent. All the breads are baked next door at the carry out section, which also sells baked breads, pastries, and the best cinnamon Danish in Chicago
I adore this restaurant! They prepare splendid food, their menu is varied, The cook in that restaurant is very experienced, I enjoy very much trying all their food. The dishes are always of high class, the attitude towards the visitors is very good too. I often eat in this place and I not even once was unhappy. I recommend it to all my friends.
Good food, good atmosphere, good service on a busy night.
Let me just say, I love the food here! There was one problem tonight though. My girlfriend and I were seated, and about 5 minutes later I noticed the ceiling dripping water by the AC from condensation or whatever. I get it, it happens. I did confront someone working there about it though because it continued to drip on our table AND in my dang hair. The one worker I confronted didn’t even offer to have us change seats. Our food came and of course I had to move over to prevent it from landing in my food. But then other areas on the ceiling started to drip. GREAT! Now I have it landing in my freakin food. I didn’t tip the manager very well because overall I just wasn’t happy with my experience and careless attitudes. She started to be rude about it OUT LOUD before we left. She wasn't even confronted about the issue and then when I brought it up to her she acted completely careless. Some people may not think this is a huge deal, but I want to be comfortable where I’m sitting at a restaurant. I don’t want to be dripped on? These workers and the Asian lady who I believe is the manager was so ignorant and unappealing. I don’t even want to come here again. I guess I’ll just order for pick up because I do really enjoy the food!
Good food & quick service at a reasonable price. Can’t go wrong at this U. Chicago classic.
Best croissants.
Great pizza! Even vegan cheese, great soups and delicious teas! Good place for friends to enjoy company and attentive service!
Good food. Fairly priced
Good food, great service, one of a kind ambience. A foundational HP eatery.
Breakfast is always pleasant at Medici. Fun tea selection, really good pastries, lots of omelettey breakfast options for not too much. Good mix of students and the Hyde Park community. Their sandwiches can be hit or miss though.
My favorite family restaurant! And now they offer alchoholic drinks, winning!
I can't pass by this place without drooling over the fresh baked breads, cakes, pies and cookies...did I mention icecream? One of my secret "spots" on "treat day!"
The best brunch spot in Chicago food is great prices are very good
Really chill place to eat late nights! I've gone here several times and every time the servers are super nice and helpful, and their milkshakes are to die for! I highly recommend their mexicana to go along with the grilled cheese or the quarter pound beef dog ^^
Didn't get a chance to eat, although I heard the pizza is great. There were naked drawing on the walls!
Great food good excellent service at very reasonable. Price point and portions, a good spot to have a meeting and you always meet great people form UChicago .
She tried it. Ordered a dish and did not like it at all. Waitress did NOTHING to assist with resolution. Then she tried to charge me 18% gratuity because I knew a large group that sat near me. I sat at the table by myself! You already made me pay for a meal that I couldn’t/didn’t eat you not gonna make me give you a tip for lousy service too!
Good pizzas and good hamburgers decent beer selection
Great family environment. Service was excellent
Great atmosphere and service, nice portions, tastey food
The bakery is absolutely delicious!
Neighborhood staple. Can't go wrong.
One of the best overall restaurants in Chicago. Everything served at Medici's is either above average or outstanding. I've patronized this place since the 80's - best sit down experience with friends in Hyde Park and great atmosphere. Highly recommended.
The garbage pizza was too good
It was very good! I like Medici pizza Thank you~
Food was okay... service was nice
Good food, good crowd, good service!
I've eaten here multiple times. Their food is always good. They also have a side Cafe/bakery that had great croissants and coffee. Try the Choccolachino drink
Long standing university hangout, decent food good coffee.
Best bread in town! Casual laid back place with good service and good food. Large portions and ample space.
Good food at good prices.
unbelievable Chicago style pizza. Burger and fries were some of the best. Great atmosphere and all around a great place to eat. Kid friendly too. Can't wait to go back.
Nice place for a quick meal. A variety of dishes that cover all the basics from breakfast to dinner. Nothing stands out in a negative way, yet nothing pops out as a must try.
It was supposed to be a memorial gathering for my siblings in the loss of our mother. The bar-be-que chicken was extremely hard. We had three orders. One order was exchanged for chicken tenders. The shrimp pasta was like warm. The manager went toe to toe arguing with my sister. They didn’t want to throw away the food. My advice is that they should have threw away the chicken before they sold it. Not keen re-frying it. The manager was off the chain. I’ll never go back there again. Plus she was drunk.
Very good croissants and some great breads. The food is very good but pricey.
Found a parking space!!! Got my garbage salad w/grilled chicken breast & was delish as usual...
It waa delicious. I got the garlic bread with mozzarella and quesadilla. Delicious. Entrees was the Cajun pita and a personal pizza. It was all great and even went to the bakery for dessert.
Went for breakfast. Very nice selection. Everything we got was fresh and well prepared. Atmosphere and staff were great.
I got the gluten free AND vegan pizza and even that WAS AMAZING I adore this place
Great food, great service, good prices.
Food was pretty good! The ambiance was a little different to say the least. I was truly upset because we had a group of about 10 and we asked if we could split the bill, and they said no more than 5 cards because the "system would overload". I find it hard to believe that in a college town a restaurant wouldn't run a system able to handle multiple cards at once. I get it those credit cards fees can be painful, but just say that instead. A simple our policy is no more than 5 cards per table would suffice. Guac and chips were good though!
Our waitress was wonderful, sweet and patient with our large group. The main food was excellent. A little disappointed in the desert. My cheesecake arrived with frozen or canned strawberries. None the less, excellent meal and service. Just ask for fresh fruit if ordering the cheesecake.
Good for breakfast. Pizza is pretty good as well
Nice restaurant if you are looking for a quick bite to eat near the University of Chicago. Awesome pizza ... try the Mediterranean. It has the perfect blend of goat cheese and mozzarella. The chicken salad croissant was good but pizza was better.
Large quantities of delicious food. Great coffee too
