DESCRIPTION

You will be able to see the information of real people who buy the products and services of La Fournette (Bakery) in the state of Illinois.

Nowadays the firm gets a score of 4.6 out of 5 and this rating is based on 283 reviews.

As you can see the average of ratings is almost the best, and it is founded on a large number of feddbacks, so we can say that the score is very accurate. If there are many people who bothered to value when they are happy, it works.

As you know, we do not usually bother to write feddbacks when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...

This Bakery is included in the category of Bakery.

REVIEWS OF La Fournette IN Illinois

Travis Horton

French bakery vending the usual stuff. Had breakfast... Coffee and croissant. Others in my party had latte and croissant and juice with a jam and cheese croissant. Nice to see that crepes were on the menu. Various loafs of bread available. Nice atmosphere and moderate prices. Welcoming staff. Outdoor dining area available too.

Sergio Dennis

Love their chocolate almond croissants, they're better when they're freshly baked and still warm with that melted chocolate meets the marzipan. Their croissants are also better than the ones I've had in France. Overall good experiences each time I've gone, and managed to avoid the long lines.

Katharine Dixon

What's not love about a French bakery. The latte was excellent. I'm a little picky about my croissants and these ones were good. Did not need to be heated to appreciate, but nowhere near perfection. Good service, nice atmosphere for eating in and a real bakery with an excellent selection of over the counter products.

Francis F

The employees are so nice and helpful as it was my first time going to a french bakery! The raspberry and hazelnut beignet reminded me alot Pączki! Macarons are nice and colorful and I'm excited to try the assorted box of 12 I selected! Id come back here!

Rafal Bartkow

Hands down best baguettes in town!

Menahem Deitcher

Great desert

Aurore Colautto

Only had the French onion soup and it was a success. Everything else looked delicious as well, too bad couldn't try it all.

Rick Manning

Love this bakery and the folks that own it. Chef Pierre Zimmerman is a master and has created a great bakery in Chicago. Every time we go to Chicago (have a daughter that lives there) we get up early to go to La Fournette for fresh baguettes and croissants. Killer almond croissants and everything else for that matter. Highly recommend this establishment. Top notch!

Hermann Braun

The best baguette in cago

Michael Piotrowski

Delicious bakery with a little street side patio to kick back in.

Melodie Klein-Ionescu

The best baguette and brioche in town :)

Elliott Katz

Great food, atmosphere and coffee.

Kate Linwood

A very cute French bakery! Great service from employees who were really professional! Loved the savory things our group shared and the chocolate croissants were delish! But many of the sweets weren't up to the same level. The macarons, and this reeeeally pains me to say, were just average compared to macarons offered by other shops in the city. Will definitely stop by in the future whenever I'm in the area!

John Jacobson

It's a French bakery, i.e., if you can't get there in the morning, go another day! Top quality fresh bread, pastry to die for and the macarons (macaroons are different) are crunch, then melt in your mouth sublime. No wonder this place is popular and well rated! Very much a consumer, not a business partner, I, just love this place

Joseph Hallak

Very authentic French Bakery. The pastries are some of the best I've had in the city (it's all about the croissant, and they've perfected it). The breakfast omelettes are simple and delicious. I highly recommend making a stop at this place!

AmirReza Oghbaee

Not as delicious as it was supposed too but very European style cafe. I liked it especially if you go for a tea or afternoon treat.

Erica Trittschuh Armitage

Fantastic bakery in Old Town. I haven't had lunch here, but I've stopped in for baguettes and pastries a few times. Quality is great and the chocolate croissants are delicious. I love that greetings are in french and that for a brief moment, it feels like you're in France. Some evenings near closing time, they have a "buy 1 pastry, get 1 free" offer. Look for a small sign in the window.

DeLia Micu

Wonderful bakery and friendly staff!! We had the ham and cheese croissant sandwich, veggie quiche, plain croissant, raisin Rouleau, a baguette and cappuccino - everything was lovely. the cappuccino and the raisin rouleau (sorry, don’t know the correct spelling) were my favorite though I don’t like raisins and picked them out ... but it’s worth the effort :)

Steven Yung

Wonderful, delicious, authentic. I'd be here all the time if I lived in the area.

Francis Z.

Their coffee is surprisingly great.

Charlie Mann

Superb in every respect.

Warren Dailey

Stopped by there today to try their macarons in a variety of flavors. Ordered a half dozen, and 5 out of 6 were good or great, their chocolate one was particularly good. However, one macaron, the mango one, was totally overcooked, and was crunchy the whole way through, having the consistency of a nilla wafer, which is all wrong for a macaron.

Azul Cohlmia

This is the best french bakery in all of Chicago. I know its a serious claim but I promise, the family owned and run La Fournette bakery/cafe will back that statement up. This is the only place I have found that serves an authentic baguette sandwich that will have you feeling like you're walking out of a bakery into the bustling streets of Paris. They make a perfect pain au chocolat aka chocolate croissant. They also have the best value on a traditional french baguette at $2.95 and they are made fresh. Everything they make from their cappuccino to their beignets, their ham and cheese croissant, or any of their brioches are all excellent and worth a try.

Emily I

French food is now my favorite because of this place.

Rekha V

Amazing bakery, everything I tried was delicious. I had one of the savory crepes, the almond croissants (my favorite), quiche and bread. I don’t think it’s possible to choose something bad on their menu. I suggest trying as much as possible. Next time I can’t wait to get some macaroons.

Faith Leyson

my favorite soup is the mushroom with roasted hazelnuts and oil. every baked thing I have tried here is delicious.

Robert Kray

The best crepes and baked goods

Margaret Pak

Fantastic food, service and ambiance! On a cold afternoon in Old Town stumbled in for a late lunch. After much deliberation (and patience from behind the counter) I ordered the savory crepe of the day. The crepe was perfect - hot crepe filled with egg, cheese, onion, tomato, bacon and ham!! Would definitely come back to try a sweet crepe next time. In case you like to know more about your coffee, I learned that they brew Intelligentsia coffee.

Laurel Miltner

The miche is some of the best bread I've ever tasted. Crusty exterior, spongy interior, delicious sourdough smell but a bit lighter in the flavor. I could eat it every day.

Ariel Schultz

Pleasant staff, good food, my friend burped, it was a good day.

Will Huhn

Great atmosphere, truly a French establishment! Their croissants and coffee are incredible.

John Fitterer

My favorite bakery in Chicagoland! Run by Pierre and Michelle who had a bakery in Alsace France. Their almond croissants are first-rate, beignets are delicious, and lattes well made!

Eric Formato

Good quality of food and coffee but you're looking for a cafe to do work in don't come here there are NO outlets!!!!!

Brian Vent

My favorite place for coffee and conversation. I’m addition, you gotta try the espresso sponge cake. Phenomenal.

Ricardo Castro

Although I bet this nicer French bakery has other good items, the ones we chose today were old. You can taste the staleness. That said im going to give it another try soon earlier in the morning. Afternoon was not good!!

Julie Barber

Best croissant I've had in months.

Nikki Berns

My go-to for incredible coffee, delicious pastries, and exceptional service!

Kirk Wessel

Authentic French Bakery. Fresh homemade crepes. Done.

Robert Anderson

Their chocolate croissant seems to have magical healing powers.

Yquem1973 Petrus

Great breads. Feels like being home. Merci.

Dawn

A bit over priced for a tuna sandwich. It was more bread than fixins'. I would go back though, and perhaps try something else.

yasaman kamyab

Delicious jams and great bread!

Andreea Ionescu

French Bakery, great bread & pastries

David Gardner

Panini and crepe were great, but the sweets were amazing. Loved the macarons, meringues, and granola!!!

Simple local French coffee shop. Excellent pastries, bread and crepes. Solid coffee. Great place to sit and chat.

J.

When we went in the place was packed. A decent croissant and a delicious beignet, both delicious. I wanted seconds and thirds. seating is somewhat limited. The employees were friendly and helpful.

Karina Barsagova

I miss Europe so much and this place is exactly what I need in the morning! Very nice, friendly staff. Amazing food and coffee!

David D

Good days start with a breakfast at last fournette. Everything is really good here.

javier T

Great coffee and pastries. The savory meals are also super good.

Reid Manchester

Good sandwich. Real french staff. The place is kept cold and has uncomfortable seating. I would have stayed all day and spent more if it was more comfortable.

Amy Crook

Fantastic French baked goods

D M

Best bread in Chicago! Sourdough nothing can compare...

Brittany Prazak

We ordered the ham and cheese sandwich, a crepe, and espressos. All were so delicious that we're making this a regular spot. Friendly staff and quick service too!

Jacob Cramer

Very cute place reminds me of the time I spent in France. Limited selection of stuff for a patisserie but the French onion was good and the macaroons were great!

Angie Hawkins

The macarons were a crowd favorite. Everything I have gotten from there so far has been good.

Josh AmRhein

Delicious French food. Tried the Savory Crepe, Sweet Crepe, and Croque Monsieur and would recommend all 3. Great place to sit outside and enjoy a tasty meal.

Charles lo

Great bread and croissants

John Bartlett

The ham and cheese crepe... Ohhhhhh, so good!

Mark Gettner

If you are looking for authentic French sandwiches and pastries, this is the real deal! It's not cheap but well worth the price. If you are looking for a bargain, there's a McDonalds a couple doors down.

Bill Hamilton

Delicious sandwiches and pastry. Warm and friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere.

Rizelle Angelique Prado

A little pricey for the size of the sandwich, but it was delicious!

Richard Feingold

Authentic French cuisine. Well-located on Wells Street near North Avenue. Friendly staff.

JM

Waited for 10 minutes before being serviced. Their French baguette is quite hard, maybe not fresh enough - not really French. Quite expensive (products are 2 to 3 times as expensive as in France, including Paris. Why?) Staff was a little rude. Their chocolate croissant (pain au chocolat) was good.

Blake Jones

Great spot that's easy to get to. Great atmosphere. Loved the almond croissant

Vb In

Drew Blacker

High quality food, great coffees that won't burn your tongue off. Service is excellent.

Nathan Buckley

Fantastic bread and desserts.

Kirsten Larkin Hardy

La Fournette is a quick place to grab a bite and feels very french. My favorite thing is the origin of the name (read one of the little signs to figure it out for yourself) and that they give you little beignets with your coffee!

Dorothy Yang

Delicious pastries and food. The crunchy hazelnut spread is amazing. Staff is very friendly. Overall nice vibe.

Linda Teplin

Outstanding bread, authentic recipes from France. One of the best bakeries in the city. They have a cafe as well with light meals.

Elena Erbiceanu

Went there for croissants, found 3 trays with a fly walking over them. I told them about it, they swiped it off, but no attempt at removing the pastries. There was nothing else available at the time (around 5 30pm on a Monday) and I didn't want to eat fly croissant, so I left. They were out of bread too which I guess means they have good bread. Bottom line: don't go there in the afternoon, catch the pastries early before the flies get them.

Bethany Wildes

Terrible food! It is all made off-site and reheated at the cafe (as told to me by the waitstaff behind the counter). Everything that was reheated was burned on the bottom, lacking in flavor and very greasy. Salad had standing liquid in the bottom of the plastic container, so I didn't eat it. Not going back, wouldn't recommend going for anything other than fresh bread.

Roberto Agnes

There is nothing like this place in Chicago! If you are a fan of French baking, you have to try this place. The people that are behind it are from Strasbourg. The macarons are great! I love the Almond croissant... my favorite!

Ismelda R Correa

Friendly staff and cute atmosphere!

Scott Geiger

Great food. Quaint location

Volodymyr Klyuchnyk

Trey Souder

Helene Waters

The almond croissants are to die for!

Ray Forgianni

Authentic French bakery in every way. Breadn pastry. Sandwiches. They even speak French but then they are French.

Eric Resendiz

delicious croissant

Gilles Pirio

Although it looks like a nice bakery, the pastries we bought there today were old. Worst part were doughnuts - probably 2 to 3 days old and tasting like papers. Nice ambiance and good location for people watching though.

postoffice cb

Good coffee and pastry. Great french onion soup. Macarons however lacked flavour in cookie and filling and were a let-down.

Brittany Minnehan

When you step into the bakery you feel like you've been transported to a little street bakery in Paris as owner, Michele, greets you with a warm "Bonjour!". Everything is delicious but my fave is the croque monsieur. Their fruit cup is delicious and you can't leave without trying a macaron. Definitely try the Linzer - you don't see these anywhere else in the city. The service is fantastic as well.

Emily S

not a good experience with the workers

Beer bread and sandwich here here are perfect to enjoy authentic French pastry. Kids friendly, but space is limited.

Marco Ponti

Amazing French bakery, the croissants are phenomenal, the rest is just as delicious and some of the staff speaks French. This is the place to go if you're anywhere near old town.

Marciano Siniscalchi

Pretty decent macaroons, at least considering we're on the wrong side of the Atlantic as far as these delicacies are concerned. Great bread!

Aaron Kim

Solmaz M

Gervasio Hernandez

Good place. To eat

Nick Johnsen

Croque Monsieur - divine. Pastries - divine.

Ct Pham

The place for French bread and onion soup

Takako Oshinoumi

We buy your baguette every day at nearby Mariano's. It tastes very much like what we enjoyed having in France. However, the texture is very uneven with holes ranging in 3/4 inch in diameter in the middle of the bread. Is there any solution to have more even texture?

Maria Quinn

Daily fresh baked bread from a world champion bread baker. My favorite items include tarts flambé, vegetable quiche, and the miche bread. Get the baguette it will be the best you've ever had.

Jason Harbison

The best bakery in Chicago. Bread alone is worth the stop. Coffee is intelligentsia!! They make their own hot chocolate. The pastries...just stop by.

Sandor Zombori

The best bakery in town!

André Luiz Morais

So good. Great coffe.amazing staff

Greg Benoit

Fantastic place! I love coming here for lunch. Sandwiches are delicious. Staff are always really pleasant. And the baked goods are amazing.

Peter Darch

Great breakfast spot. I love their Quiche Lorraine, beignets, and croissants. The staff are all very kind and the interior space is nice. The format is counter serve and there is not a lot of seating, but I’ve never had an issue finding a spot as most people are taking things to go. Highly recommend for a quick breakfast in old town.

Dianna Chou

Food: - Ham and cheese croissant - very good mix of flavors, and nice flaky croissant; they put it in the oven to heat it up before serving it - Chocolate pound cake - really dense and chocolatey Ambiance: - a few seat at the front (cute atmosphere), and some in the back. The woman who helped us was really nice.

Evangelos Giannoulis

French quality on everything, sourdough bread is the best!! Sweets are delicious but it is quite expensive!

Ogden Owl

Our place to go when we feel like crepe Suzette. Bakery that has something for everyone.

Aurélie Brown

Best bread in the land Surely soon to be in demand Get yours while you can

Bretton Hollis Barber

It is a nice little bakery in the heart of old town. I ordered a variety of macaroons. I liked most of them, but some of them left a lot to be desired because they were stale.

Alexandre B.

As a french student, I can assure you that this boulangerie is one of the best boulangeries I've lever been to. Seriously, thank you for being such a good ambassador of french culture!

Jordan Simon

The best crissount in old Town

Veronica V

Great coffee, hot chocolate and tea selection! They have wonderful pastries and breads. I would recommend their pistachio madeleines.

Mark Britt

The crepes are amazing. The pumpkin beignets are fun. Coffee is great. The only negative was when we got up to leave and order pastries to go, the cashier rudely said we had to bus our own table. Since it was our first time, feel they could have said in a kinder tone. There was no signage saying that is protocol.

Lukas Jaglowski

I'm a regular. One of the best bakeries I have ever had the pleasure to experience. My go-to is the Cheesy Bread. It's a firecracker. A mix of Adagio and Parmigiano Reggiano cheeses inside one of the finest loaves you will ever eat. Careful, it's like crack. Their almond croissants are also to die for. They are the reason I need to buy new pants. Getting older and wider is fun when you're enjoying delish treats like these. Highly recommend anything and everything here.

Luis Febres
