I simply love this place. Been coming here for the past eight years to get some quiet time or meeting people for a coffee and quick bite. Located in Pilsen, right on Halsted people will often miss it if you ink but the neighborhood is very familiar. The cafe features sandwiches and hot plates of authentic Mexican dishes. They have the best cafe con leche, Mexican hot chocolate and standard coffee drinks. As the neighborhood has become increasingly gentrified, this place has reasonable prices and a welcoming and warm environment.

Tres leche was too sweet for my liking, and not all flavors were available. I thought it was a much bigger/real bakery than it really was. Horchata latte was cold only - tasty.

Los dueños son poco amables con sus empleados y h Los empleados se han ido por esa razón.Pero la mayoría de las empleabas qhantrabajado ahí han sido muy amables. Sus precios están un poco exagerados para un sitio sencillo y lugar donde se encuentra establecido. Pero se aprovechan debido a que es el café más cercano por el área. Lo único que esta rico es el cake de 3 leches y a que lo demás es lo más usual que que se come en otros cafés.

What a great place! Came in to get all the flavors of Tres Leches for my friend's birthday and she's in Heaven! She just keeps saying "oh my God" after every bite. Can't wait to visit again and try other menu items! Staff was extremely kind and personable. Would be a great place to meet friends for coffee or study if I lived in the city. Luckily I work downtown and can visit often!

Has the best Tres Leche I have ever tasted. It is baked to order and soaked in sweet milk for 24hrs or so. Owners are friendly and nice. The shop use to offer free WiFi while enjoying a smoothie, coffee, hot coco, or something else to your liking. Great place to read book, study, or catch up with a friend.

So, I don't even like eating cake...so this review says a lot. Their Tres Leches cake is TO DIE FOR! I've had Tres Leches cake from other places before and it's usually good..but there's something about Kristoffer's that's AMAZING! My favorite is the Coconut flavor. I get these cakes for events and parties I go to and let me tell you, everyone ALQAYS rants and raves about the cake and asks where I get it. I honestly drive all the way across town to get them. You won't be disappointed!!!

Twice in one day. I came in for coffee in the morning, as I was working down the street, and the menu caught my eye. I had to try the chilaquiles with chorizo. It was great. Full of flavor for such a simple dish. The tres leches vanilla with chocolate topping was transcendent, but there were other flavors that I didn't get to try this visit.

THIS IS IS THE BEST BEVERAGE VENUE I HAVE EVER STEPPED FOOT IN IN MY LIFE. No entrepreneurial establishment can top my experience at this place for the rest of time. I was extremely pleased I am literally going to move close to this location so I can walk there every morning. This was a blessing from the Lord above that this little bakery and cafe manifested into existence out of pure joy and love and all things good in the universe.

Ordered the chocolate tres leches cake with chocolate icing. Soooooo delicious! A crowd pleaser for sure. The staff were all incredibly friendly. It has a nice vibe to it. Would love to drop by, get a sweet, and read a book there. Update: Ordered a second tres leches cake. This time I got a vanilla tres leches with chocolate frosting. Delicious!

I work right down the street on 18th, and come here because it's the only cafe in the area. The food is decent, though I have heard their cake is the reason people go there. Prices are bit drastic considering a small tuna melt and chips costs me nearly 8 dollars. The people are friendly and the environment is the reason I go there. A nice cafe.

I was hesitant to go in because of the exterior, but am I glad I did walk in. It’s cute and cozy. The almond croissant is like the best croissant I’ve ever had! Cappuccino was spot on! Very sweet gentlemen at the front. I’ll be here every tuesday! I’m so excited about this place!

This is a small unassuming but great cafe and well recommended. Very friendly owners, fresh and tasty food options including sandwiches and tamales. Also very good fresh coffee including some great tasting seasonal variations like eggnog etc. The one item that stands apart here and one that I come for many times, is their tres leches. Even if you go for nothing else, at least try their tres leches. You will definitely come back for more!

The caramel tres leches cake was amazing! Even after days in the fridge, the leftover slices kept the same taste, 'structural integrity' and moistness as the day we got it. We called the day before to reserve our cake, they don't have many whole cakes at hand but they do have a variety of slices available and we got a slice of vanilla chocolate tres leches (only because they didn't have the chocolate flan cake), cold horchata latte and hot mexican coffee when picking up our birthday cake. They do have a savory menu of sandwiches and such, which we did not try. It's a cozy mom and pop bakeshop with a couch area and a few cafe style tables & chairs. The north 8 bus stop is right in front - very accessible on the CTA, parking is on the streets and it's an $10 uberX ride to lakeshore east area. If you're in the area or have a craving for quality tres leches cake, give them a try.

My Girlfriend and I have pretty much frequented Kristoferr's almost bi-weekly for the last 3 years. Our favorite anytime drinks are the Horchata latte and the Cafe Mocha. The cake tops are always delicious (grab the samples!), and our breakfast go-to's always hit the spot (Chilaquiles & the Kristoffer Special).

I got a vanilla tres leches cake with coconut from here for my birthday from my work. I have eaten a lot of cake, 37 years to be exact. This without a doubt is one if not the best tasting cake I ever had. So moist and not overwhelming. The coconut flakes sprinkle on top are just delicious. This is definitely a special place for cakes. I'm sold.

We discovered this gem when looking for the best Tres Leches in Chicago. This is it! It's a very small cafe and the neighbor is a little sketchy, but Kristoffer's is nothing less than amazing. All favors of their Tres Leches are magnificent and they have a few, but the caramel is heaven on earth. The coffee and breakfast is also excellent. You basically can't go wrong with this place.

The atmosphere of this place is very nice, but for me the prices are crazy, I got a regular tres leches cake 9 inches and it was $45 + taxes, it was good I have no complaints but for that price it better be fantastic......Artemio's bakery make good tres leches cake for half of the price, but I wanted to try something new, because they told me that this place have different type of tres leches. I got there like around 12 p.m. and they only had three whole cakes, which is weird because you would think they have a lot more.....but no they don't and the worse two of them were reserved for customers so I got stuck with a regular one..... but anyways like I said the cake was not bad at all I'm just saying that they are too expensive and if you want a different one make sure you pre-order them

Very cozy spot to grab a quick cup of coffee on the way to work. There are not many items on the menu, but the ones that they do have, are very good. They use Intelligentsia coffee which is a big plus in my book and they also have comfy couches to catch up on a good book to read, if you have some time to spare. Not the greatest decor, as this quite a hipster spot. This cafe has the typical 18th street, aged and rustic feel to it, which I rather enjoy. During the winter months they keep the heat nice and toasty.

A cozy little bakery with tres leches cake. On a recommendation, we tried the cakes from Kristoffer's. Together we tried: Vanilla (with chocolate frosting) Kahlua (with vanilla frosting) Caramel (with a caramel glaze) ChocoFlan (chocolate cake on top of flan) We were a bit disappointed that the cakes were all a bit dry. But that may have been from the edge of the cake being a little too dry. If you simply ate the cake without getting a bite of the edge, it was pretty moist (as it well should be for a Tres Leches cake!). I think the consensus favorite was the chocoflan, because there was now frosting or glaze, just cake and flan. Other flavors of Tres Leches available: Chocolate (all chocolate cake) Coconut

Green tea. Red bean. YUZU. Wonderful Japanese baked goods and drinks. Everything I've tried has been consistently good. I've also had some of their savory food. The crispy fish sandwich I grabbed from the fridge was surprisingly good and full of flavor.As it's Chicago, you also get a touch of Chicago hospitality and service. So great!
