REVIEWS OF The Pie Safe Bakery & Kitchen IN Idaho

Bob Card

I'd hate to spoil the charm of this place by lauding it to the masses and having it be overrun, but it is a fantastic experience, both for the excellent food and the local flavor of the crafts and available food items. We enjoyed our visit.

Kyle Walton

They serve really good cold brew coffee and their bakery items are homemade and delicious. We also left with 3 pies that were also very good.

Kendra Rathbone

I made the 30 minute drive to get a cherry pie for a family gathering - everyone loved the pie and I'll definitely be back for more. There was so much more here, however. I'll definitely need to go back to do some gift shopping and to try their cheese. I have to mention the coffee, too, which was delicious (sadly I spilled my cup trying to catch a Pokemon in the park across the street).

Michele Murphy

David Anzaldua

This is the best bakery in Idaho! Everything from the brick oven pizza to the fresh baked cinnamon roles was incredible and the people are so kind. Such a homey feeling inside and out.

Sam B

Holy cow, Deary Idaho, you've hit it out of the park with this one. I never knew pancakes could taste so good. And the PIE! You BET I will drive back whenever I'm in the Palouse.

Wonderful food, quaint location, friendly staff. What more do you want? Its a restaraunt in the middle of nowhere that's always busy. People travel from all over to eat there. That alone should sell it to you.

Nathaniel Sanchez

Great food for a great price. I'm not a super big fan of sweets but the artistan cheese was amazing. And they have the best cheese curds. Nice place not gross at all, clean bathrooms and nice outdoor seating area. If your in Deary and have time it is the first place you should go.

Very interesting business run by an Anabaptist community. Very delicious food much of which is produced on their farm. They bake all of their tasty treats and even make their own cheese. The building is an old service station that has been tastefully converted to a restaurant/creamery/arts and crafts store. The original safe has been converted to a pizza oven- hence the name "Pie Safe Bakery." Besides the great tasting food there are lots of hand crafted items on display, many which are for sale. Check it out. You will not be disappointed!

Karen Lewis

Wonderful - I will be back.

Beautiful establishment, and incredible food! The Pie Safe is a worthy destination. We braved sub-freezing icy roads the first time we went, and were not disappointed. They make their own cheese and pastries, and it is done to perfection. Friendly staff, beautifully renovated and open building, and great for events. I look forward to our next trip!

I've been wanting to go to the pie safe for 3 years. Their award winning cheeses are to die for and I routinely buy them at the Brush Creek stand at the farmer's market in Moscow. The Pie Safe has freshly baked pies and pastries, wood fired pizzas, and a variety of sandwiches. The grilled cheese was the best I've ever had and was paired perfectly with a vanilla latte! Indoor and outdoor seating in a rustic setting. They sell a variety of locally made goods such as honey, artisan crafts, quilts, and more. Don't miss out on this awesome gem!

Douglas Ackley

Umair Yaqub

Small local bakery located in Deary, around 23 miles east of Moscow, ID. A cozy little.place for small groups for any type of meal and they can can also accommodate large groups of up-to 20. Their cheese and milk is fresh. For practising Muslims strict about meat choices, they have vegetarian products like margarita or cheese pizza. I especially recommend their cheesecake slice! It costs $8 but absolutely worth it. Although I prefer a thicker layer of biscuit, their cheese/cream itself is awesome. They also sell meat, cheese, honey, etc... and handicrafts like hand-made rugs, shawls, baskets, etc. but these are pricey in the $100's range. PS: I kid you not, the restroom is out of this world. A thoroughly clean place and relaxing atmosphere to do one's business. If you are stopping by after a hike at elk river, spring valley, etc., the restroom is an excellent place to wind down and cleanup.

Chris Potwora

The atmosphere is so creative and homey and to be honest, just mind bending! All the people working here were beyond courteous. All the home made everything, from furniture to an Artist painting these amazing pins that looked exactly! like a real bird's feather... so many artists work in here and home made goodies. Just an amazing experience in food and art and people and all in Deary, Idaho. So well worth the travel to make it to this place and experience the ambiance and food.

I absolutely love the Pie Safe. The baked goods are the best I’ve had, and I’ve eaten all over the world. The cheeses are aw inspiring. The pizzas are incredible. Their monthly special dinner is exquisite. Everything they do here from baked goods to cheeses and food to their beautiful artisan homemade gifts is done to perfection. The people that run this establishment are kind, loving, hard working and incredibly talented and well educated in their fields of expertise. It’s worth the 9hour drive to come for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

This place is amazing!!! It is the perfect place to choose a gift and to experience local delicacies. My mother and her husband were in the area enjoying their anniversary, so we contacted The Pie Safe Bakery & Kitchen for gift ideas. WOW they were so helpful. I spoke with Anna who helped me select a local coffee, jam, and their fresh baked huckleberry danishes!!! We created a mini scavenger hunt with The Pie Safe Bakery & Kitchen providing the final clue....presenting their gift bag. It turned out so great, much better than we could have imagined!!! We also gave them a gift card to so that they could enjoy other items the Pie Safe Bakery sells, for example, cheeses, body butter, muscle rubs, etc. Thank you Anna and The Pie Safe Bakery & Kitchen for helping us make their anniversary an adventure!!!!

I heard about The Pie Safe a while back but never made it over to Deary until just recently. I wish I had gone sooner! Great atmosphere, good service, prices are reasonable, and the food was delicious. Everything we ordered was an almond milk latte, a slice of cherry pie, and a loaf of their homemade sourdough. We took the loaf of bread home and it was gone the next day, super yummy! I can't wait to go again.

Best place to eat within 100 miles. And that's not even a remote exaggeration. Perfect quality of scratch made food. Surgically clean restaurant and bathrooms. David Salmeri

The best food in Deary with a great atmosphere. You have to try the cream cheese apricot danish.

Rhonda Knox

I cannot express enough, how much I love eating here! Also, shopping amongst so many amazing, great quality, handmade items! From soaps, aprons, quilts, sturdy & hand tooled walking sticks, to creamery items, like cheeses. They have incredible pastries, jams, and more!!! The building is a rustic but impeccably clean, refurbished old Ford Dealership that was “saved” from demolition, that once in its hay day, a major business in this little town of under 600 pop. My mom lives locally, so it’s so wonderful to see this once, ready for tear down and was boarded up, to just recently now one of the most beautiful buildings and attractions in town!❤️

Heather Aldi

This place is a treasure, a tasty step back in time, and totally worth a drive from wherever you may be in Northern Idaho.

Mr, R Baskin

Pie Safe is an great place to enjoy amazing homemade style food (try the biscuits and gravy) and baked fresh pies and goodies. The atmosphere is friendly, warm and welcoming and you are greeted by a iling beautiful people. I haven't tried their award winning cheese yet but that is also handmade. Their goods are locally (and I believe organically) grown by surrounding farms. This is definitely a "must stop" on your road trip. Plus, they use fresh California Avacados as well, overall a food lovers delight.

Kristen Stone

The Pie Safe is a nice little bakery/creamery that sells pastries, icecream, cheeses, and of course pies! The strawberry danish we shared was crispy and tender and awesome. The cheeses were very old-world and had a lovely tang. Definitely out of the normal way, but worth the drive out to Deary.

Charles Lyons

My wife and I love this place! Pie Safe Bakery is a local treasure. The food is fantastic, as is the decor. They also have cheese, teas, and baked goods for sale. There's also an eclectic selection of hand-crafted items and caps. The restaurant can seat any size group so travel to Deary and enjoy one of the best local eateries available.

Valorie Stricklin

Amazing food and great service.

Brian Foisy

Cream of chicken soup with spinach and tortellini. Apricot and brie cheese panini. Croissant. Homemade bread with fresh cream butter. Chef salad with house bleu cheese dressing. Um...why are you still reading this? Drive to Deary now!!!

Secure

I frequented this establishment in August . I was served by a child employee, the crew appeared to be between 9-14 year olds and after staying awhile I noticed the main source of employment was child labor. I would rather see some contribution to the community from this establishment by hiring more individuals from around the Deary community.

Deborah Thorne

Great handmade pastries, sandwiches, soups, salads and brick oven pizza in a beautifully restored historic building. The Saturday breakfast specials and the special dinner events are a must do.

Harieta Zegrea

A gem in the Gem State! Once in a while you stumble upon a surprisingly wonderful place where you least expect it. The Pie Safe is one of these. This is a store/eatery supplied and run by the folks at Brush Creek dairy farm. Old fashioned European pastries. The real thing ,made daily w fresh organic ingredients, chesses and sausage ,breads, honey and the occasional crafts. They offer home canning, preserving, cheese making and fiber classes if there is enough demand as well. Slow food lovingly grown and prepared. Stop by if you have the chance or just take a 30-45 minutes drive from Moscow or Pullman as it is definitely worth it.

Joey DeShields

Outstanding everything! I would highly recommend any of their Bakery items, including the Almond apricot bread loaf or any of their many awesome pies.

The food is delicious, but quite expensive.

The atmosphere is nice, lots of natural light and windows create a comfortable feeling. The bakery was fairly busy while we were there, but the food was quick and the service was great. The "magherita pizza" was delicious, the prices were excellent, and the chocolate croissant was worth every penny. Whether you're passing through in a hurry or looking to take an hour to relax, this place will do nicely.

Elva Manquera

Best pie! The apricot almond bread is also a must have. If you love buttery flaky crust this place is a must visit. They also make there own cheese!!!
