REVIEWS OF Stanley Baking Company & Café IN Idaho

Daniel Dull

Impossible to drive by Stanley without a stop here.

Amy Meekings

Stopped in by chance and was so impressed we brought the whole family back. Food was amazing, service made you feel so welcome. Loved it!

Joseph Bernhardt

Ordering was a bit slow during the lunch rush as there is no standard table service. You order from a counter and they'll bring it to you. But, if you can stand a little wait, you'll be generously rewarded. The reuben was perfection, down to the homemade sauerkraut. And, the cookies were mouth watering! I will be back to Stanley Baking Company if I find myself in Stanley again.

Joan Meyer

UNBELIEVABLY GREAT.

Zac Cronin

Great place for breakfast while visiting Stanley!

Adam Cooper

Best breakfast in Idaho. Get the Jack's badge with fried eggs and oatmeal pancakes. Smash the eggs all over the cakes and eat without syrup...you will not be dissappointed!

Jeff Lawrence

Great eats and fun atmosphere

unr74

You won't go wrong here. I took off one star because of the no dog policy.

Mike Palmer

Of there's a line stand in it, you won't be sorry.

We’ve been to Stanley several times and thus is our favorite place to breakfast. Warm atmosphere, family-friendly. Can eat as healthy or unhealthy as you prefer.

Ritu Madan

Loved the vibe and the staff was accommodating and helpful. We ordered different things... Oatmeal pancakes, Quinoa bowl and the Migas and everything was beyond comparison.

Jay Myers

Worth the wait. It's rare to get breakfast this damn good. Don't skimp do the pure maple syrup add on.

Valerie Donahoe

Amazing place. I'm still dreaming of the blueberry scone.

Darcie Porter

Food was super tasty but they charge a ton. Feels very overpriced. They are the only bakery within a 30 minute drive so I guess thats understandable.

Jeff White

Great atmosphere and food

Leslie Nakaya

Goodness, this is good! Whether it’s the effect of the beautiful scenery, the freshness of the great outdoors, or just plain post-exertional hunger, SBC is delish! Tried and true alongside new creations, many gluten free, so much is locally sourced and well prepared. For brunch I had the “we got the beet” and it did not disappoint! Sampled my husbands oatmeal pancakes, and oh what I’d give for the recipe! We waited in line about 20 min. on a holiday weekend morning but food was served about 10 minutes after being seated. Party of 10, everybody happy!

wealwaysWAnder

This place is such a surprise in the middle of nowhere. Wholesome baked gooey goodness and full breakfasts too. We never made it for a real breakfast, but we visited twice in 3 days for baked treats... scones, cookies, muffins, and cinnamon rolls - oh my so good! The line out the door is proof that this place is really good. If you are going for sit down breakfast plan ahead - there will be a line! Hint - there is an express lane if you are just buying pre-made bakery items. I didn't find that out until I got to the front of the line the first time. Bypass those waiting for a table and grab your baked goodies to go. The raspberry scones were my favorite! Mr WAnder liked the Cinnamon rolls the best. They also have coffee drinks too. A great little bakery that is a must visit on the Stanley to do list!

Jenny Linch

Breakfast was awesome!

David Anderson

Fabulous food great service on a beautiful day.

Randy Tucker

Nice place with great food. Wholesome and home cooked taste and feel. Enjoyed and certainly would repeat the visit.

Mark M

What a jewel! What views. Food is good breakfast fare, a bit pricey but worth it! Your in a magical spot on the planet, enjoy it!

David Fleck

Excellent with healthy options. Line starts forming at 6:45am for 7am opening. Casual. Super friendly staff. Great food, large portions.

Neva Stiller

Do not come through Stanley without stopping at the Stanley Baking Company and Cafe. Excellent service, amazing breakfast and lunch offered. Fun place. Everyone is happy here

Kris Westergard

We stumbled upon this wonderful place looking for a late breakfast. What a find!!! Such great food and service!! Lunch even starts at 11am. The place is like a cozy cabin with your family singing as they cook. We will make sure to come back every time we travel though.

James Moorhead

Great food and beverages, although somewhat expensive. Creative menu items and crafted staples. Wait can be near unbearably long during the summer weekends.

Nick Rolfsmeier

Awesome atmosphere, best breakfast burrito ever, and great views of the sawtooth mtns!

Malcolm Sturdevant

Absolutely amazing breakfast

Matt Koob

Delicious little brunch spot in Stanley. Great coffee, amazing food, and excellent service. The best place to grab a bite to eat after enjoying the surrounding wilderness.

Vanessa Westergard

My parents reccomended this wonderful place in gorgeous Stanley. From the moment I saw the sign I had an instant sence of happiness & comfort. We walked in and got in a long line that went very fast. In the meantime we looked at the menu by the door. I Was overly pleased to see so much labelled gluten free items on their fabulous menu. Thank goodness. I Ordered Chiliquiles with a side of turkey chili. All of their food was so good and clean. Quality, fresh ingredients. The coffee tasted excellent. The service was perfect & a manager or owner table touched the entire time. The decorations were up to date with a rich cabin feel. I want to go back for our anniversary. I do not like and breakfast places. This one takes the pattycake.

Travis Ward

You have to stop in for brunch if you're in Stanley. So tasty!

Pam Bailey

Good food requires patience to stand in line.

Diane Briggs

Oh the Crag sandwich! Genius there in that creation. Worth the diversion into Stanley for the long morning drive.

Laurie Meade

Great coffee. Loved the food and atmosphere.

Laura Westrick

Fun quirky place. Breakfast burrito was delicious

theboroughbred

Really delicious spot. Had the oat and sourdough pancakes which I thoroughly enjoyed. Cinnamon buns are delicious as well. Very friendly service. I left very full and satisfied. Glad I got to check it out.

Kent Christensen

I have never (and probably will never) had a bad meal here. Everything is incredible....from the sausage to the syrup. Top of the list is probably The Crag sandwich, but a close second is the Jack's Badge. Get the sourdough pancakes - the oatmeal pancakes are SOOO good, but you need a nap halfway through one of them. Also, for the most recent year, they added an "express lane" for the bakery case. This means you don't have to wait for the lines going out the door to grab 3 cowboy cookies for the road! I LOVE IT!

Michael Rush

Delicious sandwiches. A little spendy, even when you consider that they are in a remote area.

Anna Cassell

The raspberry scone and cinnamon roll were divine. Definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area.

Dave Denning

This is the place. Great food and people.

Ben Figueiredo

Stanley Baking company is my favorite place in the world. I dream about coming here, the breakfast is to die for. I always get the sourdough pancakes because they are so amazing. The coffee is phenomenal. And the staff are so friendly. Can’t wait until summer!

Tri Bet

Slow service. Small coffee station. Had to wait about 15 minutes just to get a cup of coffee. The Migas breakfast plate was just heurvos rancheros without the avocado and a ton of salsa on top. I had to dig the beans out just to get my protein and the eggs seeped underneath the tortilla chips so I’m not sure I ate my entire egg. Extremely over priced, they should have table service and have the servers make money for tips for all the work they do. They also bring your plate out and expect you to have grabbed your own silverware. Coffee cups are too small that I had to get up three times to get a good fill of caffeine. Like I said, for the price I paid, I should have been served.

Joseph Pryor

Seems like everybody comes for here for breakfast and lunch and that's the only rub: it gets crowded! I recommend the classic with sausage and home made multigrain toast. Even for lunch. Best pastries ever.

Tara Tai

Stanley Baking is amazing! As delicious as any down-to-earth bakery in New York City or San Francisco, except with friendlier staff and service. We arrived around 8am on a Saturday morning and there was already a line creeping out the door. The sourdough pancakes were awesome -- crispier than typical pancakes and well-flavored such that you don't need to drown them in syrup. The cowboy cookie was deliciously packed of oats, nuts, and chocolate, and the other pastries (sugar and cream pastry and the blackberry scone) were also excellent, not to sweet for the former and stuffed with huge berries for the latter. Dishes run around $10-15 and portions are huge; coffee is refillable and if you ask for a to-go cup, you can even take some away! The line doesn't move very quickly between 10am and 12pm so bear that in mind -- you'll be waiting a while. They've got their operations and volume of tables to line speed down, though, such that once you order, there's usually a free table in the venue somewhere. Great flow through the entire dining experience.

Tropical Efforts

Awesome outdoor patio, plenty of veggie options and bottomless coffee. The Migas were incredible! I might have to come up here every weekend ;)

Sinie Aldous

Everything sold out at 10am

Chris Acosta

After a 30 minute line, and about 10 minutes wait, I got my order of the Migas breakfast, with the food worth a wait of half that time. Clearly the demand is there, with 30-someodd people lined out the door into the low-40s temps, but I'm not convinced that next time I'm in Stanley that I'll shuffle my way to the register. Only place you're gonna find an actual breakfast in Stanley, but if you don't have an hour to detour, you can always cut the line and go to the left register (by the waitresses) to order some pastries from behind the glass.

Suzanne Feblowitz

Delicious! Breakfast and pastries! Scones are amazing. Coffee is perfect! Thank you!

Cynthia Wood

Good food, frequent (worthy) lines.

Colleen Hamman

Amazing food and friendly efficient service

James Hort

One of the highlights post hike/climb is finding non run-of-the-mill eatery. This was a rustic place with a unique breakfast menu. Very tasty. Was satiated with the meal so unfortunately didnt get to try the wonderful looking scones (or other bakery items).

Jeff B

We look forward to coming here when in town. The biscuits and gravy are near the best you will get unless making it at home - lots of meat in the gravy, good biscuits and only 8 dollars which is reasonable anywhere, especially in the middle of the sawtooths! My wife likes the oatmeal pancakes. I have to say though, the last time we were there we ordered vegetarian sausage and, even though they swore it wasn't meat, I am 90% certain that it was. Careful if you care

Pam Kirkland

Yummy sandwiches!!!

Shane Schamber

Fantastic food in the mountain air. Lines usually out the door because it is a popular breakfast and lunch location.

Griggs Hull

Two days in a row we had fabulous breakfasts. It was busy, but once our order was placed the food came very quickly. The staff was very attentive and friendly. When we come back to Stanley we will definitely return for breakfast!

Jennifer Schreiner

Yummy food and large portions. Our group had the Ruben, Jack's Badge breakfast, 2 cinnamon rolls, a blueberry scone, and a hot chocolate. Fast friendly service.

Elliot McMillan

I travel a ton for work and food is my favorite part of travel and I gotta say this place stands up against anywhere I've been. Legit. The Crag sandwich and best orange juice I've ever had. I don't do reviews but I have to write this before I even leave the restaurant!

tina lebrett

We were a group of 7 arriving around 10am on Saturday. The line was out the door, moved slowly, but was well worth the wait!! Classic breakfast, yogurt bowl, oatmeal, and coffee & it was all delicious. Not a huge selection but homemade and fresh!

Brenda Harvey

Great Menu, friendly staff, myriad of food options for every dietary restriction, friendly & accommodating staff & hip vibe with local art!. Try it & you'll be back. Guaranteed.

Brian Slind

Carson Davis

If you travel to or thru Stanley and dont eat here, you suck!

Jim Streeter

Great breakfast. Order at the front desk, get your coffee and find a table. Good food and was served quickly. Friendly staff. Can't wait to go again.

David Cooper

Very obviously the place to go in Stanley for breakfast! Everybody was here. Efficient, which is pretty important given how busy it was. I had the granola bowl, which was excellent, with a whole range of fruit in it. Varied menu.

Chloe Boucher

Great food and lovely people. The sourdough pancakes and maple syrup are some of the best I've ever had!

Tim Davis

Migas! And fantastic lattes! And baked goods. And the list goes on and on...

Timothy Lillie

Long lines, but worth the wait. Enjoy it.

Erik Bryan

I love the bakery! Their food is amazing, especially the sourdough flapjacks. They recently remodeled the interior so it's much roomier inside than it used to be, and looks great.

John Turman

This is a great bakery. Worth the trip to Stanley. If you are spending the day at redfish lake, this is the perfect place for breakfast or lunch. I had a great breakfast burrito and cinnamon roll there. Excellent all around!

Shannon McConnaughey

Warm, rich dishes that range from healthy quinoa bowls to hearty pancakes - all delicious. Baked goods are excellent to-go options with coffee. Be prepared to wait at opening, as everyone else also knows how good this place is.

Rahul Shivhare

My lady fell in love with the town after her morning breakfast at Stanley Baking Co and Cafe. Great food, fair pricing and every soul in that building had a vibrant spirit. WoW place that you can engage with pretty much everyone in town ;-)

Derrek Brent

Great breakfast, fantastic coffee and really yummy pastries!!!

Andrew .s

I had french toast both times it was very good. Unlimited coffee refills. Great place.

Gaylene Jones

Thank God a great way to end our visit! After our horrible cabin and dinner. This place is awesome!!! Great food, coffee and service! And thank you for gluten free options as I have Celiac. 8 of us had a wonderful breakfast. Very busy so get here early. Walk up and order then find a table and an awesome coffee and tea bar.

Tim Patterson

Graft breakfast menu. Cinnamon rolls are pretty excellent

Ricky Keller

Very good breakfast! Sourdough pancakes were delicious. Homemade jam was also nice.

Kalleen Gould

The food was delicious, loved the scenery and we will be back!!

Ray Iddings

Food is best in town ... but mediocre at best. The people are pleasant and the cafe is clean. A simple, but appealing rustic atmosphere. Some beautiful (for sale) local art (well-framed paintings) on display -- that alone is worth a visit. Gravel streets & limited RV parking.

Dwight & Regina Masak

The first place cookie champ of Stanley Mountain Mamas 2017 and her #1 fan! Thanks grandpa for treating us to another great trip and yummy eats here!

Brian Swasey

Eggs ordered over medium were barely cooked at all, hash browns we're more like pieces of potatoes. Long wait, no place to sit, waitress left us our food and never returned. First time I tried it wasn't any better.

Dave Yedid

This place really surprised me, considering its geography. I loved the food they served, even if it was pricey. Lovely deck to sit on and watch the scenery. They have lots of gluten-free baked options!

Caitlin Hewitt

Amazing baked goods in the most scenic spot! I love the outdoor patio.

Candace Crew

5 - Stars enough said. The we got the beat is like no other breakfast and its amazing.

Adam Birr

Fantastic; although, surprised to see that the locale is more restaurant than bakery. Regardless, everything you taste will be scrumptious. If asked if you would like chili over it, always say yes.

Good food! Will come again!

Joel Ripke

Fantastic breakfast! Do not be discouraged by a line out the door. It goes fairly fast and is worth it. Best pancakes I’ve ever had. The oatmeal and sourdough pancake options both stellar. I had Migas both days I went there. Too freaking good to not get it twice. Smashed taters are great too.

james west

Outstanding atmosphere great employees great food on the best pastries around I've been going there for 10 years you can't say anything bad about this place

Abbigail Schieving

This is FOR SURE in my top 5 places to eat, ever. Every year I look forward to coming here for breakfast and lunch throughout the week while I vacation at Red Fish. The food is to die for, the atmosphere is so cozy, and the location is gorgeous. Nothing beats eating giant pancakes or a breakfast sandwich on their porch. I have never been disappointed in the last 12 years we have been here. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Kert Howard

Highly over rated. Small portions, my hash browns we're burnt. Ate the next day at the mountain view restaurant. They actually wait on you, like a real restaurant. Their food was great. I'll never go back to the bakery.

Sam Fenn

Beautiful backdrop for great food. Friendly staff as well

Rex Salisbury

One of the best places to grab breakfast in stanley whether you're looking for a classic america breakfast, a pastry or just coffee. They've grown a lot of the last few years, including adding 900sft recently and the place is usually bumping.

Steve Nottingham

Great breakfast spot. My gf says they do tea properly. I'm not surprised because this place is very hipster. Food was great. Don't let the quinoa scare you off!

Timothy Geniac

I would drive here from boise every Saturday for brunch if I could! Amazing food, friendly staff, good coffee.

Gary Hunt

No better way to break your fast than great grub and life sustaining coffee.

Jim Jacobson

Great breakfast, pancakes were great

Hillary Colvin

The food is great and staff is friendly but it's counter service and self serve everything. For me, going out for breakfast is all about someone refilling my coffee for me. The cookies are super delicious but the "bakery" case is small. Mostly cinammon rolls, croissants, scones and cookies.

Richard Ragland

Excellent service and friendly staff. And the food is really good too!

Loren Nelson

Excellent breakfast with creative menu and helpful service. Charming venue and great coffee.

Richard Sanders

They are open for breakfast and lunch everyday and their selections are amazing great pastries and excellent sandwiches. Great coffee too!

Amy Lincoln

I had the Migas and my aunt had french toast. The Migas were more like a breakfast nacho but were delicious. The french toast was also delicious. Service was good but not outstanding. It is busy and the line will be long but worth.

Heather Clifton

Fantastic breakfast spot! Plus they have an espresso bar and great loose leaf tea.

Nora Kirsten

I ordered the Classic, my husband ordered the Migas. My scrambled eggs were rubbery and the "hash browns" are more like roasted potatoes, not hashed at all. I wouldn't have minded the potatoes not being really hashed, but they tasted reheated. Small pieces were hard as a rock, big pieces were chewy on the outside. The bacon looked yummy, but it had barely any flavor. Wasn't juicy, wasn't crunchy, wasn't smokey, wasn't salty. I had to salt the bacon to make it good. The best part of the breakfast was the toast and jam. My husband thought the Migas was good though, and other reviews suggest that the food is really good so maybe it was an off day, but it was pretty disappointing for me considering I could have gotten the same meal at any chain breakfast place and it would have been better and cheaper.

robbette schmit
