Amaru is Amazing! The custom designed cake was not only beautiful (one guest commented it was THE most beautiful wedding cake she'd seen) but delicious! They delivered on time and set up the cake topper and flowers perfectly! We received tons of compliments. I would recommend Amaru only if you want the best!

We also had some children attending the wedding and we ordered 12 matching cupcakes. This was the most beautiful wedding cake I have ever seen. I ordered gluten free for my niece who has allergies and it had been very hard to find good GF baked goods. We tried several items to taste test their products. Everything , EVERYTHING, we tried was delicious and tasted just like normal baked goods. The carrot cupcakes are to die for... Yummm. You won't be disappointed. I purchase a $40 cake for my daughter's 50th Birthaday it was horrible The inside looked like it was prepared by a Grade school student so much frosting 1" on top and so much inside done very unprofessionally very little cake. None of the guests could eat the outside frosting. Very disappointed. I have had items from your business before and they were excellent. Whoever made this cake made it in haste. I will not be a customer again.

I ordered a large quantity of cupcakes from Amaru for a recent fundraising event at Opera Idaho. Chris was wonderful to work with and very accommodating! Not only did the cupcakes look beautiful; they were delicious! My personal favorite was the chocolate with salted caramel buttercream. It is so nice that they offer vegan cupcakes as we could provide dessert to our guests who are vegan which they appreciated and enjoyed. Thank you Amaru!

To celebrate our son's first birthday we decided to have a First Fiesta for him and went with a Mexican themed party. We found a picture of a sombrero cake and fell in love with the fun idea. We simply took in our picture to Amaru and the day of the Fiesta, the cake was amazing. It looked exactly like the one in the picture. Everyone complemented us on the cake. Then when we cut the cake and tasted, everyone was equally impressed. The cake was delivered on time and it was a friendly really easy process. I also really like the reminder deliver text sent ahead of time. This tells me they are professional and also take pride in their service. We will definitely use them for future celebrations...or just a craving of any sort because that's how amazing their cupcakes and cakes are. When we stopped by to make the order we purchased some yummy cupcakes too, highly recommend doing this :)

I went to a FREE event they had with mocktails and cupcakes, called "Mocktails, Coffee & Dessert Pairing- After Hours Exclusive Event". We had some very delicious mocktails, yummy cupcakes and even bought a few items (A homemade anti-inflammatory salve). There's an Apothecary, Coffee shop and bakery all in one! I suggest trying the homemade macaroons!

I called Amarau on short notice for a company/fundraising event hosted by Norco and the local craft brewers for an employee. We ordered 600 mini cupcakes and 21 dozen cookies. The Owner was AMAZING as was her staff to help us pull off this event. They literally only had two days to make this happen, and they did not disappoint! I will be forever grateful for what they did with such short notice. The cupcakes were a BIG hit with the group as were the cookies. I would recommend Amaru in a heartbeat to anyone who is hosting an event, the service, staff and cupcakes were perfect! Thank you for saving the day with your amazing service and yummy cupcakes!

Amaru did the wedding cake for my daughters wedding this past weekend and it was amazing! Not only was it beautiful, it was so delicious and everyone commented on how incredible it was. I sent them a picture of how we wanted the cake to look and they made it look even better than the picture. The frosting was a combination of buttercream and fondant, and the cake was decadent chocolate and red velvet-awesome! It far exceeded our expectations and I highly recommend using them!

I have purchased two cakes (feeding 10-12 guests) from Amaru for two different baby showers I was planning and both (red velvet) turned out beautifully. I don't live in Boise and thus communicated with Amaru over the phone and through e-mail. Each time Chris and Aimee understood the design concept and executed each cake just how I imagined it would be. They are very professional and both cakes were ready to be picked up on-time. The cakes tasted amazing and you get a lot of cake for a great price. Twenty-five people attended each baby shower and I still came home with leftovers. Great flavor and Affordable prices.

Being from out of town it is sometimes hard to know whether what you order will be what you get... but I cannot say enough nice things about our experience! The cake was beautiful, the flavors amazing! We actually hoped there might be some left overs but unfortunately every piece was eaten and all the plates were clean! I had a birthday cake made for my husband to look like the camera he loves. I gave Chris the brand and model number. The cake looked exactly like his camera, with amazing attention to detail. We loved our wedding cake from Amaru Confections. When it came time to select a company to design our wedding cake there was no question when I booked an appointment with Amaru. I had been at parties privies to my wedding planning days and had remembered how amazing the cakes not only looked, but tasted. I went in and sat with Aimee- I had a few pictures from Pinterest along with nothing but ideas in my head! She was able to draw up a preliminary sketch for my idea so that I could envision the idea and I loved it. I not only love the cakes, I mostly love the people! So friendly, organized, caring, community oriented. Can you believe they actually put on classes? I asked Amaru to build a cake for my husband's 50th birthday party. I wanted the cake to match his motorcycle. Although they offered to have it standing, I asked for it flat. It was fabulous! We ordered a cake decorated with an airplane for an event for our flight school and not only was the cake adorable, but the cake was delicious. The fact that it hardened within 2 days tells me that the cake was make with fresh ingredients!! The owner was really pleasant to work with, and didn't have the NJ attitude of the Cake Boss. E for effort, but they missed the mark, for a variety of reasons. One, this review is strictly based on my walk in experience. I have not hired them for any custom bakery items such as a wedding cake, etc. Therefore they may be "all stars" at that, but at the storefront we were less than impressed. 1. We didn't feel welcome. I felt rushed. I felt like the lady was annoyed we'd even dare walk inside to buy something. She seemed preoccupied and clearly we were in the way. She didn't want to answer any questions and was very short with us. 2. The cupcakes themselves we're poor. I could tell right away they were not made fresh daily. They were refridgrated and I can imagine they sit that way for a few days before being tossed/sold. We were told to thaw them out to room temperature before eating them, not really what you wanna hear when you think your buying a fresh cupcake from a bakery, so yeah an hour later we finally could enjoy our bakery item. 3. They were dry and crumbly and lacked flavor. The tasted stale and a day old. The icing was so hard and you could tell they were a day old. The icing just clumped together and was not soft. The were very dry it was almost not worth the fuss to eat. 4. I was happy to see they have gluten free options, which is ultimately what brought me there, but they force you to buy them in 2's and they are prepackaged flavors. Kind of a bummer to have a chocolate Carmel and then a gingerbread or carrot cake. How about just a chocolate and vanilla? Or let me mix and match my own. I really wanted to try the candy cane mint chocolate one, but it was paired with carrot cake and I certainly wouldn't eat that, so I basically couldn't try the chocolate one without having to buy and toss the other. This was a dumb concept. I would have bought probably 4+ if I could have chose my own flavors. Overall, I won't return. Simply because they are not made fresh daily. They just taste stale and a day old. Really bummer because we're new to Boise and I was excited to see a gluten free bakery in town. Oh well, guess I'll keep looking.

As several members of our family eat gluten free Amaru has been our go to bakery for delicious gluten free treats. Through the years we have enjoyed the service we’ve received and their wonderful baked goods. Unfortunately after the poor service and even worse stuff we received last Friday we won’t be back. The cupcakes were disgustingly dry, in fact so bad they were thrown away after one bite. I can only imagine how long those things sat around. Sadly Amaru is now a waste of time and money and the one star they’re being given is way too generous. We’ll never be back.

It looked even more beautiful than the picture which I gave them. Amaru Confections are trustworthy and they do awesome job. Amaru made 50 cupcakes for an engagement party, and they were a hit! The cupcakes were red velvet with cream cheese frosting, decorated with overlapping red fondant hearts. They truly looked lovely! I wanted to display them on a cupcake tower, and the owner gave suggestions on where to rent one. The cupcakes were ready on time, and the owner helped carry them to my car. They were delicious, and not too sweet. Amaru was professional and provided a quality product. And they are locally owned and operated. I’ll definitely be back. Thank you, Amaru!

We first found Amaru at the local "health food" markets - they make THE BEST gluten free and vegan cupcakes I have EVER tasted! And then when I discovered that their shop is in our neighborhood AND they make custom cakes - it was the perfect combination for our wedding cake. Chris and the Gang were fabulous to work with and made a beautiful cake for us (and at a very reasonable price). Aimee was so great to work with! My cake came out gorgeous and exactly what I wanted. We decided to go with Amaru after her cake won my taste taste at the January Wedding Party Show. We planned our wedding from Seattle so all of our interactions were over the phone or email. She sent me some idea sketches and I tweeked it around and sent them back. We designed my cake to match my dress so I sent Aimee tons of pictures and fabric and lots of annoying emails. She never once seemed annoyed or frustrated with me. She seemed excited to make the cake! We only had 100 guests but I wanted a pretty big cake so the size we got fed 134 guests. We figured, worst thing is that we'd have a ton left over but we could freeze some or give it away later. We had 7 pieces left! I think a lot of guests actually had 2 or 3 pieces! We knew it was delicious but apparently everyone else did too! Thank you Aimee for your hard work.

Amaru was by far one of our easiest wedding vendors to work with! My now husband and I took in a handful of photos of wedding cake designs that we liked for our initial meeting with Amaru, we asked for a few price estimates, and we quickly came to a decision! They drew out a sketch of the cake for us showing exactly how it would look (and it seriously was EXACT in the final product!). We also had a great time cake tasting (who wouldn't). Choosing the flavors was incredibly difficult, but only because they had so many delicious flavors to choose from! We had a 300-person invite list... so at the time, we wanted to make choices that we thought would appeal to the greatest number of people. We ended up going with 3 different flavors for our 4-tier cake and side sheet cakes: Guinness Chocolate Cake with Irish Cream frosting; Lemon Cake with Huckleberry Cream frosting; and White vanilla cake with Raspberry puree filling. It was ah-mazing. No problems whatsoever with the delivery of our cakes as Amaru coordinated delivery times and locations beautifully with us and our other vendors (I ordered a Doctor Who themed Groom's cake that they also very carefully helped to create and coordinate the delivery to surprise the groom!). I fully intend to keep going back to Amaru for their cupcakes and for any other special events where a cake is due!

They are friendly, efficient, and their cakes are amazing and delicious. They recently made a cake for my daughter's medical school graduation and it was fantastic I highly recommend them for any of your cake and a certain needs, and they have a great gluten free product as well

I am a little dissapointed that I could not place an order for 24 mini cupcakes because I need them for tomorrow evening and more than 24 hours in advance is required to order those. We always buy our birthday and anniversary cakes there because they are delicious and beautiful. Best cakes in Boise!

Summer

I ordered "mini" wedding cakes (and a top cake) from Amaru. The cakes themselves were lovely and tasted great. However, we also requested cake toppers to be made special for our big day. We're gamers, so we asked for meeples: one black and one blue. Since we know that's a unique request, we also included two different pictures to ensure that there were no misunderstandings of what we wanted. I also received verbal confirmation over the phone that the pictures were received and it was understood what we wanted. The day of the wedding, we received *stars*, not meeples for our cake toppers. The designer stated that that's what they saw when they looked at the pictures. Our wedding planner told the person who delivered it that that was not correct and that they needed to fix it. They took the stars back and did a quick hack job of doing their best to make them look like meeples. Granted, they *did* look like meeples when they got back, but it was clear the poor cake toppers had suffered. I received no apology for the mix-up via email while on my honeymoon, so I called when I got back. I was told that they didn't believe they had done anything wrong and in fact, that they should be praised for attempting to fix the cake toppers instead of just ignoring it. They said the designer did their best based on the pictures received and that it was a shock I was asking for any form of refund. I was offered half of the cake topper cost back in refund because of my dissatisfaction, but was refused a full refund due to the belief that Amaru was in no way wrong. In a nutshell: If you want tasty cake with no muss or fuss? They're an option. If you want anything specialized? Steer very clear.

I ordered a cake for my sister's birthday, and it was absolutely everything I hoped for and more! The cake was beautiful and received rave reviews all through the night. Not only was it gorgeous, but it tasted amazing. The bottom tier was marble cake with salted caramel buttercream filling, and the top tier was French vanilla cake with lemon buttercream filling. I had heard positive comments about Amaru from friends and family in the past, and I'm happy to say that they not only lived up to those comments, they exceeded expectations. I went there just to buy some french macarons. Beware! They are teeny-tiny. Pricing at $1.50 each. I think they're overpriced (they're really petite!). Nothing like the ones I saw in Europe and other desert shops in America. They are yummy though. Furthermore, they look and taste exactly like the ones sold in trader's Joe ($4.99/a dozen). So I suspect that's where amaru's macarons are purchased from, not house-baked. I hope I'm wrong, but the size and taste speak for themselves. So save your money and if you want some macarons, go elsewhere. Parking is tiny (I think it allows to park one car up front and three cars in the back). The shop itself is small too.

My sisters cake had three times as much frosting on it than it was cake, the frosting being cement hard and sticking to the roof of my mouth to the point I went through a whole glass of milk after only a few bites. The taste of the cake wasn't anything how I would imagine a chocolate cake should taste and was disappointingly dry. The raspberry filling my sister wanted was a tiny glob of raspberry flavored jelly looking substance in the very center of the cake. My entire family all came up to me after the party and told me I need to call the bakery who made the cake and get my money back. I'm not even mad, I'm just disheartened and sad my mother put forward the money she doesn't have for this cake everyone hated.

I ordered a larger cake for an event I had this past weekend. I am extremely disappointed with what I got. I paid a lot of money for a cake that looked extremely rushed. I was so excited looking at all the beautiful cakes on their website. What could have been a gorgeous cake ended up being extremely sub-par. The top of it didn’t even match the rest of the cake. When you have a big event and pay to have a nice cake, I expect to like it and not feel like the decorating was something I could have painted on myself. Not to mention the fact that no one went over their policies to make changes to the order. Least to say I was horribly unimpressed by the customer service and the final product. Would not recommend.

We had our wedding cake made by Amaru in September and it was delicious. This past weekend we had our "gender reveal party". We gave Chris the envelope that we got from the Ultrasound tech and told him to make the cake either blue or pink depending on what the note said. The cake was absolutely gorgeous! Amaru is my favorite bakery of all time. Their cupcakes are to die for (especially the drunken ones made with Guinness). I gave birth on Feb 7th and forgot Valentines day (because I was slightly busy!) and they did a rush order for me overnight. They are the sweetest, most caring people and I highly recommend them. Their artistry is amazing and it's not very often that you can find a beautiful cake that tastes good. (Ever had a wedding cake that tastes like a twinkee? Yuck!) So, support a local business that will do everything they can to make a customer happy... and help you out of a tight spot!

They were very nice and wonderful people who helped us with our special birthday cake. The cake looked wonderful. It was exactly what we wanted however, the cake flavors were not what we expected. The salted caramel just tasted like plain chocolate cake. We also got the lemon with huckleberry filling and all I tasted was the lemon. The filling was white not even berry looking what so ever. Rather plain cake flavors. Not at all what we imagined. And she didn't really offer for us to taste test them during our meeting. I don't know if the taste testing wasn't offered or how exactly it works but we did order a multi tiered cake. When we spend that much money on a cake, we expect a little more then just chocolate and lemon with mystery white filling.

Amaru confections helped me design a cake with a New York theme and they developed a creative and gorgeous looking cake to serve my 40 party guests. I chose the Mexican Mocha cake flavor with the Mexican Mocha buttercream filling because my daughter (the guest of honor) loves mexican chocolate, and I was amazed by how delicious the cake was. They were super nice to work for and completely exceeded my expectations! I will definately be using them again!

Prices seem a bit steep but it comes with the territory I suppose. They do all kinds of cake designs so be sure to check them out if you're in the market for something custom.

I recently got married and picked Amaru for the bakery to get my Wedding Cake. I couldn't be happier of how it turned out. The cake looked BEAUTIFUL. And tasted AMAZING. We chose a 4 teir cake with different flavors. Everyone that attended my wedding couldn't stpstop commenting on how good the cake was. I was very satisfied on the customer service that Amaru has. We were able to taste different samples they had of the cake and frosting. They all tasted so good. The cake was so soft and fresh. During the first appointment we selected the type of cake I wanted, the design, and size. The price for the cake was supper reasonable. We were able to put a deposit down and pay it off before my wedding. The process of making payments was so easy and fast. On the day of my wedding they decorated my cake so beautiful. It was even more beautiful than I had imagined in my head. I strongly recommend Amaru for any event. Thank you Amaru for making a very special day even better.

Huge hit!! Our son just celebrated his golden birthday (he turned 4 on the 4th) so I wanted to give him a special cake for his day. He had been asking for a T Rex cake for months and being 8 months pregnant knew I was not up to the task. Honestly, so disappointed. I drove 30 minutes to try out the vegan cupcakes from here because I have seen them in grocery stores. I was hoping instead of trying frozen ones at the store, I could have fresh ones from their store front. I was sad to find that they were still frozen. Couldn't even eat them right away. Not sure if they just make big batches at a time or what but I was so sad. Once it thawed a little I wasn't impressed. The icing was not good at all and the cake itself had a decent flavor but the consistency of a muffin. I won't be returning.

We ordered the vegan spiced chai, vegan chocolate, vegan red velvet, and vegan & gluten free vanilla. Positives: They all tasted amazing! And I really loved how my cake turned out. It totally fit within my theme and tasted amazing! Negatives: The day of our tasting, they prepared all non-vegan options for us to try. When they realized their mistake, they had nothing available for us to try. Even though we asked for all vegan cupcakes/cake, I noticed 6 weeks before my wedding, that the frosting on all the cupcakes and the cake were not vegan. Thankfully, I noticed early enough that we were able to get it fixed. They could work on their customer service skills.

DELICIOUS CAKE! I ordered a cake in the shape of a classic book. The cake was moist (and stayed moist for up to 3 days after we picked it up (you've got to love left overs!), and the butter cream icing was delicious (not too sweet). Chris and the designers at Amaru did a great job communicating with me on the price, design and flavors of the cake. The cake was ready when promised and the entire process went smoothly. I would highly recommend this bakery to anyone looking for a tasty and special confection!

I was searching around the Boise and Meridian area for a cake shop and I knew I wanted someone who could deliver 100% of their hard work and talent. It was a very easy choice to go with Amaru Confections just by reading up on reviews that were given and by checking out their website for pictures and options that they offer for cakes and so on. I worked with Chris from Amaru Confections through emails because I needed a cake for a baby shower I wasn't able to attend and he was so helpful with how I wanted the cake to look and all the other details. Amaru Confections created such a beautiful cake that was beyond words. I wasn't able to attend the shower, but word is, the cake was GORGEOUS and delicious as well! I highly recommend that you give Amaru Confections a chance to create a fantastic cake or other desserts for your get together! I know I'll definitely be going back in the future!

People kept asking me where I got my cake because it was so delicious. I highly recommend Amaru for any occasion! They are easy to work with and reasonably priced. They are also very creative! Amaru Confections did our cakes for our 2 little angel's birthday party (turning 1 and 3) and they were amazing. We had a Strawberry Shortcake theme so they decorated the 2 tier cake and our smash cake with fun colors, polka dots and stripes to match . We also had 50 cupcakes that were so yummy and had cute little strawberry decorations on them!!!! They were all gone within minutes. We were so happy with the decorations, quality, taste and the service we received from everyone at Amaru Confections. We will be back again soon!!! Thank you Chris & Aimee!

Lovely folks to deal with and extremely responsive but they ultimately missed my delivery window (when I made the order weeks in advance) actually missing the birthday and also have unclear expectations about the recipients being home! Nowhere on their contract or the receipt does it mention that as being a requirement, as an out of state patron I had no way of knowing this. Will try again when the treats can be enjoyed locally!
